ETS2 cant add things to itself. However, SCS Software plans to do rework whenever it is possible. Currently they now going to rework more of Germany and BeNeLux going to be complete rework. Some more countries might be reworked as well before U.K, but so far iirc nothing is confirmed.

Additionally, I would look at ProMods, many people believe their version of UK is way better than the original from SCS. Though ProMods are yet to be updated to support the latest game version, and seems it's going to take quite a while this time.
