Yes, ProMods 2.68 for ETS2 version 1.49 does not require the Balkan DLC https://promods.net/compat.php

You can downgrade ETS2 to the temporary_1_49 branch and it should work. If not, try an older ETS2 & ProMods version.

I would say it is indeed worth whether there is populated roads or not. - ProMods have so many roads, countries, cities, landscapes and more realism roads (Closer to real life roads and cities). than SCS map is.

That's one of two main hidden roads, however the other runs east to west and isn't shown on the map. I think it is just before Krafla there is a turn off somewhere between (and I'm not typing that name out) the port city and Krafla that takes you near Selfos on possibly the nicest hidden road in the whole game if you like speed.

Separate profile for ProMods Europe will reduce load times due to map differences.

ProMods make massive changes within the map. If you change between promods and basemap , there will be long wait time due to map changes as well your vehicles or garages might not be available in base-map.

Step by step guide, download the def, next step download the paid version or the free one. For the free one click the first part link and wait 5 minutes after it has finished before the next and carry on like that. It would be dlc or save editing you need, only things promods provides is map content and a few of their own internal accessories like a mug, sign for the back of the cab and a couple of other things like TMP and SCS have.

Well there are local mods (only you will see) and then editing already existing items from supported DLC or marketplace items (everyone will see them), best place to ask would be the modding channels.

All DLC apart from the job in special transport is supported in both TMP and Promods. That is why the updates are frequent as everyone gets to see them added but the DLC paywall is to unlock the usage of them. There are people in the modding channels that might help either suggesting how to do it, sites or how or what to look for on Youtube for tutorials or even maybe discord modding servers. This channel was just set up for basic help with people that may not have the PM discord or for quick guidance.

So right click the first part and select extract to folder or similar depending on which zip/rar program you have. It will extract from all parts.

@mint jetty I'm trying to extract the 001 file which is required for promods to work. If I manage to extract it I put everything into the mod folder. Im unable to extract the file (even though the extractor I'm using is fully functional) because it appears to be corrupted

You won't extract a single file. Period.

You need to download ALL the files, they need to be placed into the folder, and then proceed with extracting that first file.

And if that doesn't work, that probably means something is wrong with at least one of the files in the folder. A screenshot of the folder would be helpful to figure out what to do next.

That's not required, all the DLC updates are fetched from Steam automatically. (unless you have explicitly disabled that by selecting "Only update the game when I run it" option for the game in its Steam settings)

ProMods is a massive extension/overhaul of a standard map, where you have a lot of new countries and cities, existing ones are largely redesigned. UK in ProMods is very, very decent, for example 🙂
You can only join ProMods server if you have ProMods Europe installed - and it requires having all map DLCs (Greece isn't currently required, but it will be a requirement in next version)
