Disagree. You arent on the first couple of pages regardless of TH.
Embargo made sure of that. Id say even first 20
So why dont you care less? If you could or do you mean couldnt care less
Im pretty sure you needed to spend something like $120k? to completely skip the grind in all skills when TH was still a thing
I vaguely remember seeing a video about it.
Either way, im sure thats one cancer we are ALL glad is gone
Nah, but th got many to 5.8 meaning they can get 1st page with new skill
HS was full before Squeal happened
I wonder if HS would still be relevant if mtx and all the op training methods were never introduced. Remember ages ago when a 99 was cool because it meant someone worked hard for it?
No they cannot. Literally cannot be 1st page using TH.
Embargo lasted 6 months. TH had no use.
the New Skills had a lockout for the first six months which was plenty for the nolifers who cared to lock the first pages
I said they at 5.8 not first page. It put them in a position to reach first page now after th is gone
So this means TH has no way of being the reason someone is on the 1st page.
You are aware theres a large number of people who have 5.8 without major TH use?
Doesnt really matter. Th bought a lot of spots, to where aiming to be there now is weird. Theres no prestige, but wasnt really anyways
Idk why you even bringing up th and 1st page lol
HS's do have a place still. New skills made sure of that and its still a major event for a lot of people.
Ig its hard to explain this if you arent able to compete or havent before.
Do they? Is it impressive that people can mostly max those skills spending often crazy amounts of money early trading for it?
It's kinda sad there's 0 prestige left in the game because they keep making things super easy
The only prestige is self challenge. Noone cares im a hardcore iron, nor should they. But i do.
Isnt there a hardcore iron at 5.8 š
If they can do it, most dont have a reason for not being competitive for the next event for 6b exp.
Its not like its hard to skill.
Going to go play the game, better things to do.
Hc in rs is a joke. You mostly lose status to inconsistent mechanics and dcs
Yea, the main reason I wouldn't bother trying it
Or being careless on low chance of death stuff. We're basically immortal in this game. It is rather hard to die
Dcs, dead clicks, jank boss mechanics that don't trigger correctly, it isn't worth the stress to me
Yeah.
I die alot. Things like afk and forgetting to re antifire when killing celestial dragons lol. Could never be a hc
Honestly, they could leave every other annoying grind in this game, and just fix the dam dead clicks, and that would make a world of difference to me
Yeah, but when you arnt hc, you arnt stopping content on sign, or wearing RoD all the time. Using those, its legit hard to die, outside of things that bypass. And AG/telos are your biggest risks
Honestly I'd avoid basically anyone with instant death mechanics
Such a terrible mechanic to make artificial difficulty spike imo
Just click teleport, its fine. But ag/telos.. you cant leave. So its the only real risk
Wanted to experience the content, so i downgraded to avoid the hassle in worrying about it
highkey playing a hc sounds fun, if you play it like a regular iron and see how far you get and just continue as a regular one
still more than firemaking is for a skill
Yeah, problem is, you get attached, and cant risk it, in general.
Pretty off topic though now
Was there a reason the canifis meat market was overlooked for stock overhaul?
thanks
Fishing shops should be relooked at especially for F2P it seems to have nerfed it hard with this update and would impact f2p Ironmans even more
how bad, they ruin the mena fishing meta for food?, anyway if iirc they are going to add a new fishing training that gives low lvls fish in "good" amounts with the new area ("good" because thats what they said, idk if it will be really good)
I believe it's halved of what it previously were for F2P.
So still no word on the runecrafting cape?
it still has the activate effect to tell you your best 3rd rune rofl
i have a feeling its either gonna be a wave 1/wave 2 kind of rollout, or theyll patch the cape next week.
....theres a LOT of oversight on items from stuff being removed so i dont doubt they got a busy workload going in that department
Jagex did that to themselves. Sure people fresh out of school, don't have as high of a salary expectation. Older people with a history with the game, were all fired and replaced with the fresh out of school folks.
Black salamanders were a possible reward from the wildy events, Charming Moths were not.
I miss my shooting star buff extension. Petition to reintroduce the upgrades at +5 minutes each instead of +15.
At the very least, remove the requirement from the associated achievement, please.
Correct, it is death touched bracelet and brooch of the gods that are impossible to get for ironman skillers.
Sooo no more wicked hood charges?? that sucks for my clue hunting ease.
do 1 hour of runespan for buying 5 not stackleable tp rc tablets, lmao (i share your pain brother, im a clue chaser too, that change doesnt have any sense)
honestly aside from clues and maybe daily challenges, who really used the wicked hood that its ability to be charged with teleports needed to be removed?
There was even purposefully a debuff on the hood that if you teleported with it you had a what? 30 or 60 second xp nerf so you wouldnt get anything but the base exp rate
So not seeing why it needed to have those teleport options removed at all
If anything the teletabs and wicked hood charges in the shop should have had like a 5-10x decrease in cost so teleports were cheaper, and point acquisition should have been bumped up more then 2x
Cause honestly with how the demonic skull buff is now baked directly into the RC skill, and abyss griefers have been killed off with the removal of said skull, runespan is not even really worth using anymore, atleast in my opinion
Even with the changes in never going bacl to that hellhole they call runespan
Its pure pain. I have my compt haha
But i did use the teles very frequently
Agreed, the point gain needs to be drastically increased or give another way of providing stackablr multi-alter teles.
Maybe crafting a generic Alter tele tab from PoH would be better
i prefer to "walk" directly into rc altars before farming in runespan
but it had 3 free daily charges, therefore DAILYSCAPE MUST GO /s
absolute insanity
Right?
If i wanted to hate my life by grinding out shit repetitive content id play osrs
Literally just remove the whole use it or loose it dailyscape part, and let them keep stacking charges up to a week or something, and suddenly dailyscape is no longer an issue
i think the same
Like that's all that needed to happen with every single one of the reward things they removed, just let them build up and be claimed when you wanted them, the whole problem goes away, and no one's mad they lost access to something
amen
similar to this, stack the daily rewards as weekly or monthly, there is no way ppl with a little of brain will do runespan for a few rc altar tps, it just doesnt pay the time invested there
Runespan is really only useful for comp and the hungry hood for the expansive pouch now imo, but that might just be cause i see the available teleports as useless when the abyss exists anyway\
Like genuinely aside from cluers who would ever want to buy those?
Yeah, the tele removal feels like a ābecause f you, no other reasonā slap.
At least let us add tele tabs to the hood. That would at least arguably be pivoting the use towards something you earn, instead of something youāre given each day. But nope, gotta clear more bank slots for new tele tabs.
But yeah, the complaint about losing time in runespan is 100% valid. Why waste time earning points in runespan, when I can just walk to the altar faster than earning points? Thereās literally no upside to earning points in runespan. Itās taking runespan from ācontent that is bad but at least has a useā to ācontent that is outright hostile to players.ā
To be fair there is a LOT of content that seems to be outright hostile towards players time
Runespan, livid farming, mage training arena, big chompy bird hunting, the list goes on
Whats kinda messed up about runespan though specifically, was back in the day, it was actually a great alternative to rc, cause it was so awful and risky to get the better xp rates otherwise, now its basically dead content, and a 2x boost to points does nothing to increase any incentive the place may have once held anymore, its simply not enough
thats really a thing? lol didnt know they stacked
from the mondays update, i think all ppl who have a crystal tree planted there, start with max cap blossoms, then it eventually resuply until 30 again
yep, thanks for that
thats example of good management about dailies, not remove it at all if its useful, but make it less stressfull to get in good amounts, like rune shops too
agree with this. There's a lot of fixes needed to Runespan but I commented above that I didn't think 2x was nearly enough. I'd double it again (i.e. 4x what it was before Monday) and monitor any impact from there
expect target should be somewhere between 8-10x
Can we get permanent doubled blossoms just passively without needing to withdraw the quiver, it's just unnecessary friction at this point and a month's worth of punishment if you forgot! I have been informed that they actually added this with the update
im not wearing quiver and i just pulled out like 60 of em
oh good
not sure what youd need 60 for though, got an insane amount of those things banked from the tree and prif chests
You use them for perfect plus potions I guess? Kinda kills the juju market but nobody cares anyway lol
24 hours per pot on one blossom
better that way, we still need to make farming juju normal pots thou
unless.. stay with me here... get rid of normal and lump those perks into the perfect plus and get rid of herblore habitat because it sucks
you can literally just catch them on anachronia normally and buy the seeds at a pace for sustainable herbs. Perfect plus bypassing everything at once in bulk with mundane materials is dumb and it's a positive a couple of them slipped through the cracks
i think they should revert farming juju effects, the perfect juju for normal farm juju and the normal juju effect for perfect farm juju
i said it earlier in the chat, but just to reiterate: i think marks of war should be used for reaper task reset, they should also bring back the 1 free daily reset.
, a good use for mark of wars, i just did some afk task on my 5.8bxp main, and run out slay points for more tasks, its really annoying, i cant imagine how worse is for a new player, even worse if he is an ironman
At this rate, I wish they'd just have wiped characters rather than do these repeated ladder pulls.
????
A full reset would genuinely kill the game.
At this point all these "ladder pulls" are necesarry to put the game into a healthy spot.
what ladder pull?
yea, that's kind of my thinking too because i have a gim, and early on i would have the luxury of skipping kbd (no anti-fire) to get mole or barrows brothers for my reaper. it would absolutely suck to have to go do 3-12 regular slayer assignments just to avoid having to do a boss im not properly geared for
imagine you put a lot an effort and actually get the points to reroll it, just to be another boss you cant do š
right? luckily most everything up to level 90 is doable with t70 necro
magic was the only style i could use to reasonably kill kbd and have anti-fire shield once one of us got 69 herb. took a whiile though
People complaining about the op stuff being removed calling it "pulling the ladder up" cause they cant use it anymore.
I can believe this. This game is really just sunk cost for a lot of people. They can't leave because they've spent way too much time already. A full reset would probably feel like freedom lol.
On a different note, it's really interesting to see the contrast between mmorpg players and moba players in their reactions to buffs/nerfs.
It's probably because when something is OP in a Moba, there's another person on the other side getting dumpstered by it
But in mmos, bosses don't really complain about anything cause they can't lol
Pvp has absolutely been thrown to the wasyside.
If there was a pvp focus. id hope they would be smart enough to give each weapon and ability separate stats for pvp and pve so buffs to pve dont change pvp and vice versa.
Agreed 100%. It may take some time adjusting to the numbers but pvp would feel much better.
I know for a fact Elden Ring does this, pvp and pve have different numbers for balancing
They said the would be doing a pvp pass once the combat update is settled. But im not sure what that entails or when it will be.
Anyway. Nough combat talk.
this threads for daily removal
Wtf š
It's only a "ladder pull" for a short time before new buffs and qol stuff sets a new standard that's just easier in the first place. The "ladder" is replaced by an escalator later on
I Think the Main Problem is Pulling something away without a Solution.
For example They complained about Aura refreshes, Took the premier relic away Which made Even more Problems and then After a while they removed Most auras
And i Need Smoke Cloud Off global cooldown please. It feels so weird triggering gcd
It should be noticed how they're following the mantra of "lower the gap between the floor and the ceiling" for everything
They did it for combat, did it for thieving
I am not implying whether this is good or bad.. just something I've noticed
Oh my god, thank you for this update. I've been an active player since 2005 and I'm so glad to see RuneScape taking right direction. I'm very happy to see that Jagex team has this vision that makes RuneScape exciting for me to log-in whenever I have time. I really enjoy the game. Thank you!
This is awful. I'm trying it. But it's horrible. It's going to seriously cut my playing time, I always logged in every day. But with no dailies to do, UGH. I stand around looking at other stuff realizing I don't have the time to do them and wind up logging out looking for other stuff to do. I know there were a lot of dailies. i just picked the ones I wanted to do and done. Sandstone absolutely is HORRIBLE. It's ridiculously slow so I won't be doing that at all anymore. I'd rather have it limited and actually be able to mine it in a reasonable amount of time. Tonight there is no reason to log in. That makes me sad after almost 20 years of playing.
Not sure if it's Jagex's task to provide you with stuff to do. Find a different game to play or something.
I mean... if the game's not fun and you were just loggin in to do chores... that's called a "dark pattern"
Chores sounds like a 'negative' word to use here. There are players that like doing these kind of things and are not chores in their eyes.
Exactly. Iām not looking for them to do that. I donāt consider them chores. It was fun. It was quick and felt useful to my character. Trying to a quest or even some of the achievements takes too long at one time. I work full time and I care for an elderly parent with memory issues. So to have to stop during PVM is not optimal. This allowed a sense of accomplishment as well as being able to walk away without dying. I understand not everyone feels that way but they wanted feedback and this is mine.
Can you not take a big goal and split it into small little parts to get the same sense of progression? Or is it the rewards from those dailies that kept you going?
mundane repetitive actions?
So do we love or hate jagex this week? I can't tell.
As with every update, there are fans and non-fans. It's important to provide feedback while also recognizing that others' opinions are valid
They tried their best. So i'd say for me it's neither
Is there a possibility to get Deathdarts as skillers after the removal of the Traveller Merch shop and weekly rewards?
Reminder for everyone to keep things respectful, you can give constructive feedback to the topic(s) and not butt heads with each other, or each other's commentary.
If it's best to avoid conflict, just comment on the threads intended purposes constructively and don't reply to others and DM @quiet pilot if issues arise.
Wilderness slayer chest? Although, I guess that's pretty hard / impossible to do for skillers.
good update jagex.
still much more reworking and updating that is possible for dnds/minigames/'extra' content and im definitely one player (20 year player) who supports being disruptive to old content to make it relevant and aligned to rs gameplay.
the daily challenges in their new form are somewhat harmless (even though i also prefer they remove entirely), and in sync with other changes promoting actual gameplay to earn extra exp eg div.
anything that doesnt fit with immersive, open world mmo play should be questioned. ignore detractors who loved dailies, that is a different style of gameplay, and even game, to what runescape is about.
keep it up
prob during special events like christmas or Runescape's anniversary
Had a thought.. So with the price increases for memberships and removal of premier bonuses, there is less incentive to have a continuous sub to the game.
Is the backtracking of the complete removal of daily challenges just a way for Jagex to make players still login everyday?
If so, that is a lame move imo.
Impossible with Mandrith requiring 120 combat
@tawny axle let's not state such claims like that, when the reasons are already explained in the blog
There was a question asked, to which the answer is "the reasons are stated in the blog"
To speak on Jagex's intent is not something that any of us should be doing
Why are many shops not updated at all? Why do some shops only have a 3.5x increase instead of 7x like with other shops?
Taverly and meilyr clan herblore shops arenāt updated at all whilst granny rowans has been updated
Ooglogs meat store has 3.5x
Daily pineapples from catherby guy went from 40 to 140 (3.5x)
Why???
the stuff they changed affected all the shops plugged in to a general system, some shops just were not plugged into that and had their own code
Also, they stated some shops overall weekly stock were reduced to avoid people buying them all up and selling them and crashing prices. So while meat has 3.5x instead of 7x, that was an intentional adjustment so as not to crash those meat prices.
Rip my ability to get deathtouch darts XD
I'd really love to see some game additions now that it seems so much of the game has been removed. I just feel like everything is being nerfed and no rebalancing has been introduced yet...
Can we just chill on the nerfs? The game just got so much grindier I thought the point of these updates was to rebalance.. Why are the removals of content happening without rebalancing (in most cases)?
I do love the update to livid farm
New continent will likely fill these gaps
Right, but until then we're just nerfed.. I'd like the pacing of removals to rebalances/additions to be a bit better, where we're not nerfed for 6 months or longer (speaking as an endgame player)
it's being released in 5 days bro
can these dailies also be removed/changed to be more active? feels limiting
I think they did already, the wiki is just going through a huge backlog of removal/changes atm
didnt know that type of food exists, and im an iron
The low timegated limit makes them undesirable, unless going for specific challenges
would be cool if they added more sushi recipes
that is still a grind... and extremely limited
i am asking for it to not even be a cap
they could add a kelp / seaweed farming patch to the oyster area or something, sure
mmmm if the new fishing method of the new zone includes sharks, they could include white sharks/ Kelps
I know they said theyre looking into it, but my GOD these mining rates for red and crystal sandstone are wretched
Like even the special "easier" versions like the elite desert accessible we can unlock are just terrible
Haven't tried it yet, how long does it take to get one sandstone?
didnt try myself, but from what i read, ppl says like 15 min to get the same amount one could get before dailies changes (in 2-3 min)
well i tested crystal sandstone, and with the full golem outfit and a t100 pick that i put careless4/explosive on, it takes me like 20 seconds to mine a SINGLE crystal sandstone from the regular rock
And with the fact is now takes stamina, if you dont click, that mining rate drops through the floor
It looks like they just copied banite ores stats and slapped an extra 100 hitpoints onto the rock
Doesn't seem too bad, considering you can mine them indefinitely now. They have to get the balance correct.
They need to stop trying to "protect the economy" of things in the game when making changes like this
Who cares if they can be mined indefinetely now? They werent exactly a bank breaking resource before this, and on top of it, the market will correct itself to compensate for changes like this, prices will drop, less people will do it cause its worth less now, these things have a way of self-correcting
If anything it just makes it a significantly more annoying resource to get for yourself
Personally, I'm on the other end. I like it way better now that I can mine it forever instead of once a day. How long they take to mine does need to be adjusted though.
... ... ... ... ... ...takes 20 seonds for one but the stats are literally Banite Ore?
Yea i dont know if those stats internally are even correct, cause it feels signifantly worse then banite
Maybe thats bias though cause banite has stone spirits and juju mining pots to compensate for the stamina aspect of it
and rockertunities no. the crit golden sparkles
Thats why i have explosive on my pick, so i dont need to worry about those, you get s 20% damage buff but cant get rockertunities
Ah i see
how does the red compare to the crystal. in terms of "mining for consumption" the standard flasks should be much faster than crystal flasks should be
no rockertunities really makes it feel horrible
Explosive only works on core rocks (bronze through primal) not sandstone
Fwiw, they will likely make it faster to mine ^^
womp
Only core rocks get rockertunities so only core rocks get Explosive
Yea i mean i put it on for core rocks to be fair, but missed the part where it was ONLY for core rocks, thats on me rofl
Funny enough "Argonlike" (the weird quest ore from one of the Succession quests) is a core rock, unlike every other quest ore in the game. Argonlike came out years before actual Daemonheim primal resurfaced.
#social-feed message
Fix this, makes no sense, give slayer points regardless.
Wait, im confused by the exact issue with this? Its not implying you need to do 5 reapers to get points if thats what you are assuming
This was a reply to someone who had never done any slayer tasks before, so they never gained the ability to start earning points.
Or do you take issue with needing to complete the first 5 slayer tasks to start earning slayer points in general?
You need to have done 5 slayer tasks in a row to start getting slayer points from reaper, this is not exclusive to just the first 5 "ever"
Where does it say that? cause the person this was directed towards specifically confirmed they had never completed a slayer task
When I do slayer, I tureal skip, as it's way faster to hit the task(s) I need than boosting and skipping. This results in me always being at 0 streak, ie: I cannot seemlessly move over to reapers without going off and doing a streak of 5 tasks (which yes I could just go do jaq but this is just dumb)
Harold is acting as a slayer master, slayer masters have rules
It doesn't say that, that's the problem, it just happens tho. I'm 105 slayer I've definitely done 5 regular tasks before lol
Fair enough
there's a significantly better argument that Reaper Tasks should now have a streak system for the slayer points than that you shouldn't need a streak to get points
Slayer streaks and reaper streaks should not be in any way interacting with each other, it makes no sense, they're 2 different things
Harold is giving you slayer points like a slayer master, slayer masters have rules about how points are given. Consistent things are Consistent
I mean, ive said this before, but if we are treating reaper like slayer, we should ALSO have a block/prefer list, cause being locked into a garbage group boss until you complete 2 or more normal slayer tasks, only to roll anther different garbage boss, is terrible design
That's not consistent at all considering it's not a slayer task it's a reaper task you can have them both at the same time
Honeslty you should be able to just spend war points on skips instead of slayer like someone else mentioned, cause this current method is not it
Or both realistically
I'd take that as an alternative if it's too hard for them to code
Group bosses are disabled by default, aren't they?
Yeah, they probably just mean that some are good (for them) and others are garbage (for them)
You also get more points by having it clicked
Can we also point out how asinine it is that a game with an official website uses reddit as the primary place for posting game updates and mod dev logs? Like it would be one thing if these were included in the update page on the official website. But no, we need to go to a third-party website and dig through forum posts just to see what the mods may or may not be planning.
Like even being forced to Discord feels wrong. These should be posted directly on the update page for the relevant updates, on the official website.
Its disgusting š¤£
Some of us are old enough to remember when the game had an official forum. And now look where we are. They shut it down to use Reddit and Discord instead.
I do miss the forums, for a number of reasons
Just feedback for Jagex. I stopped Runecrafting entirely. Without the additional 175 ess from the wicked hood, it isn't worth the time to go to the abyss, get to the time altar and craft a few runes. I used to put mine on the GE at whatever the mid price was. .... I've also stopped the fallen star D&D, and the sandstone gathering that would follow. congratulations on resetting the game to 2014; I played through that era once, really have no motivation to play through it again.
Oh, and the Runespan? You can forget about that. I spent way too many hours on main, alt1, and alt2 (last month), to unlock the additional wicked outfit pieces to get to 175 ess for each of them. Why would they go back?
If you needed all that to motivate you to play. Then i dont think you wanted to play in the first place.
I mean, valid on the sandstone, but rcing through the abyss has gotten many buffs and is in a great place, fallen stars, despite the 25% "nerf" is actually a significant buff right now since you can keep hoping worlds and mining the largest available. Expect that to be nerfed tbh.
After 24 years playing, gee, I never wanted to play in the first place. After creating the main and two alts, never wanted to play. thanks for your input, I've filed it accordingly.
Before the change, that was before this change, we were always allowed to keep hopping and mining. Giving us back, what we used to have, isn't progress.
175 essence is a small fraction of the essence you use when you do a full 50 cycle of the attuner, it might sound a bit strict but that's the way you're supposed to runecraft, the wicked hood really didn't make a difference
if the volume of runecrafting that was taking place was small enough for that amount of essence to be impactful, wouldn't personally call that training runecrafting, even without the attuner
I had to read what an Attuner is. I got my 200m r/c, and don't r/c for xp. I just did it, because I enjoyed doing it each day. The wiki attuner is too long for me. complicated item. === "the way you're supposed to runecraft" === That isn't Runescape. There is no "way" to play the game, which is why it was enjoyable. We could play anyway we choose. No right way, no wrong way. Reducing, or making play more limited, trying to coerce people to play a specific way, isn't Runescape.
One could argue the excessive amount of dailies, and how op they were compared to other methods, coerced people to play a specific way, which isn't Runescape.
exactly why i prefaced it with the words that i did
i appreciate the ability for people to play the game in different ways, i just don't agree that they're playing at all when all they do is take advantage of daily freebies
but, back to line 1 of my post. feedback for jagex. no one needs to explain why I've played the game differently than they play.
If I remember my early days, the Free items that came with the wicked hood, was 100 normal essence, that could only be used for elemental runes. Then we had to upgrade it, to do pure ess, then spend a long time in the Span, to upgrade it three more times. I don't call, using the fruits of one's labor, as freebies.
it is indeed very unfortunate that mtx items have intermingled with gameplay items so thoroughly
difficult to tell what is what
even more difficult for the devs to untangle
wicked hood is in a place where the easiest thing is to remove it and then put in something actually driven by gameplay to replace it
I expect them to take it away, wait a little while, then put something back that replicates the thing they took away, and they will call it an update, a good thing, and progress.
As history has shown.
"24 years of playing"
"My early days (wicked hood)"
If you've actually played for a long time you should be able to easily recognize that almost every facet of the game, and in this case runecrafting, was buffed, streamlined, QOLed, whatever to be infinitely stronger and faster than it was 10+ years ago, to the point that you're complaining about a tiny % pullback in a specific play pattern but RC is still more generous without wicked essence than it was years ago WITH it
grifter grifting is funny
Yes, much of the game has been made easier and easier, so that new players in a generation with a shorter time span to get hooked on a game, sticks around. Some people have called it evolution of the game. Remember when Dragon Chain Body was the best in the game? Having an abyssal whip was just awesome. The game has continued to evolve, which is what keeps people playing. When the game de-evolves, that creates a problem. People have to revert back to playing how we (they) used to play, and gotten past that era once.
"nerfing anything about me in any way to any degree is de-evolution". In the time that they made the wicked hood, they "evolved" and improved virtually everything else about the skill in terms of rune production, XP rates, risk, to the point that certain bandaid designs weren't needed. A person joining the game and doing RC now would have a dramatically better time actually training and using runecrafting at the baseline than they would have a few years ago with a few daily free essences from the wicked hood. The only real exception would be someone not wanting to engage with the game outside of their login bonus
i don't measure the progress of the game by the amount of friction there is in gameplay, friction often makes for a more interesting game, like you wouldn't say dark souls has evolved because all the bosses were suddenly far easier, and indeed, runescape doesn't evolve from skilling being made easier
Just saying it again, marks of war should be able to be used for reaper task resets, and the free daily reset would be a wonderful thing to bring back
šÆ
"runescape doesn't evolve from skilling being made easier" -- really? Thinking back to the game when we called it Runescape, but now call it RSC.
however, just because there is friction, does not also directly equate to a more interesting game
there are other ways that a game can be more interesting without mundane things that causes friction
friction has to be meaningfully designed that contributes to a fun and interesting engagement of the activity, and not just for the sake of it, with the illusion that it leads to an interesting gameplay
pretty funny that the opposite happened and new players stopped joining as the game got easier. now the only people left are the ones who want the game to stay as-is.
I have a suspicion that new players won't really know the difference and couldn't care less about it. They don't have a point of comparison.
OSRS players and returning players on the other hand....
Respectfully, I don't think new players even have a smidge of idea how these changes affect the game as a whole.
In other words, I don't think the fact that the game got easier overtime is what's stopping new players from being invested.
BXP for the dailies would appease everyone, new players would get a nudge in a direction, players who donāt want it can get the xp limited, and pop ins can get their social connections while chatting and the feeling on some type of progression. Seems BXP would be a nice balance for everyone
Back when smithing one item was 4 clicks, good ol' days
It won't appease F2P, unless they allow them to use BXP normally. Not to mention that any new player would basically be told to get membership as soon as they complete one or be stuck with unusable rewads.
Seems like a positive, an incentive to buy into the game , and become a proper player of the game
Tbh I feel like bxp is a good solution. There was talks of introducing BXP caps, F2P could just have a lower cap (maybe store 100k/skill max instead of 1m for members or something)
I thought they would've introduced bxp caps with the MTX changes some time ago. I don't think there's one now so one can just pump millions of BXP through radiant stars if one wants.
There are caps, radiant stars can only give you up to 5m bonus exp in a skill
Ok, a 5M soft cap through radiant stars.
What would you consider a "new player"? I don't even have 5 year cape and have 5.8b, so I'm curious what you consider to be someone with enough experience to have an opinion, and why yiou think you can speak for them?
A new player is just that, someone who only had a vague idea of what RuneScape is or maybe even had no idea RuneScape existed in the first place before they started playing.
That's funny because I never claimed to speak for new players, you invented that sentence on your own. What I do know for a fact is that a new player (using above definition) has no idea how these changes relate to the game as a whole.
For example, a new player wouldn't have any idea how much time it takes to get 99 mining. To that effect, they wouldn't have any clue how updates would relate to that.
IF these things were obvious to a new player, then why is one of prevailing complaints about the game is "that it's overwhelming"
Did not all shops get the weekly treatment?
Looks like no - they should definitely add the Meilyr herblore shop to it.
Shouldn't Runemetrics be free now?
- dpm & xp/h etc. works in game
- website doesn't show kills/drops/xp history/wealth etc.
IGN "I Googled" - member & iron
Pretty sure they discontinued that component of it. They gave us time to DL that date if we wanted
Oh damn, that's the stuff I wanted š
It was the least used and really expensive to maintain
I can see why but want to know how many Linza I've killed :p
Thanks for the reply
Site is going to be decommisioned tomorrow, so better hurry up if you want that data.
Just a thing to point out
Can Jagex just revert the Soul Reaper Refresh to its original state bec it kinda makes no nsense in its current state
30 Slayer Points is not a big deal to use lol
And also, many players have Tier 3-4 or so already so its borderline useless, even when you need to spend points to change tasks
Besides, they will be gone next year and I kinda feel cheated that we were not even a heads up that this item would have a radically different use, instead of adding an extra task, which would have worked for the new system.
Ouch, I wonder why they decided that. I now have to do the entire Fight Cave or Fight Kiln if I get a Jad or Har-Aken task?
Folks were abusing Jad reapers for bulk slayer points. Rates I heard was 40 slayer points for a ~20 second reaper task, which you could very easily farm during a specific Zuk wave.
Combine that with guaranteed reaper task choice (war's blessing 4), and Jad was WAY better slayer points/hr than actual slayer training
How can you get to Jad in a Zuk fight in 20 seconds?
This change would make me get 30 Slayer points to skip the task instead of doing the task itself.
How can you get to Jad in a Zuk fight in 20 seconds?
I forgot the specifics cause I'm not familiar with Zuk, but it involved using the checkpoint mechanic to restart the Jad wave so you could keep farming Jads
so once you'd setup everything, you could just camp Jads for as long as you wanted to
you can kill two jads at the end and just leave
I feel like they could've gone about that differently, like only having it count if you didn't use checkpoints or something. Now there's just no way I'll complete Jad or Har-Aken reapers.
thats not a hotfixable solution
It doesn't have to be.
leaving it in its current state was not viable
I get that, but making it so people effectively can't complete these tasks anymore seems like a terrible solution. I hope this is meant to be a temporary band-aid and a proper fix will be implemented instead.
Sorry but this is quite the exaggeration: "can't complete these tasks anymore" - you still can via fight caves. Yes it takes proportionately more effort, but that's a choice you make at that point
If you could do zuk you could arguably turbo run through fight kiln for haraken in similar times. Jad is the bigger chore but you could argue for upping his prize if no more variations are allowed to cheese the task.
In the meantime waiting for a more full adjustment, it's not really a huge deal to skip it. The rest of it is more than generous enough to offset that occasional annoyance. Way better than leaving it in for a week or more then having people act entitled to keeping it in, being compensated in buffs, or making it the new standard and raising everything else that high
Is there a chance jad and haraken tasks could have just been made undesirable instead, those bosses have effectively been power crept out of being scary as it is anyway
But they alreayd made those tasks undesirable
They're not desirable tasks normally. This gaming of the system was the exception
Making it worse like "it's only 1k XP and 1 reaper point" to offset the cheese would be bad for the occasional normal person saying "I've been meaning to get a cape, do kili task" whatever and getting trash for it coinciding with this
the jad/haraken solution is terrible idea. I get that it was farmable and ppl were cheating it but there has to be a comprimise. There is already the system in place that you only get the loot "first time" on the wave, surely they would have piggy backed on that logic for the reaper credit. I wouldnt stop people just doing waves 1-6 over and over for a Jad task but atleast thats got some time attached to it. An entire Cave or Kiln run for these tasks is huge time sink in comparison
Idk but isnāt it under the beast tab in our adventures ???
If itās not , it really should be
Barrows only counts if you've killed all 6 og brothers. Linza runs you just kill linza and search tunnel.
Got like 1400 barrows kc but 3-4k linza š
I'm being hyperbolic, of course, but no one in their right mind is going to do those tasks. The choice becomes between doing them or spending 30 Slayer points to get another task. That's an easy choice, since the Fight Cave and Fight Kiln offer no reward.
She would be a boss , like Hermon, no.?
Yeah that seems like a big oversight to have her missing on the boss list.
lol Now I wanna do some runs lol
She's part of a boss technically. And only full runs count towards the quick chat KC.
You can do my runs š
Curious if anyone else made this complaint outside reddit
Hummm how bout quick chat? Can/does that show kc ??
Sry Iām just finding with weird that one mini boss is missing on kc
Youāve peeked my curiosity
I would like to see the soul reaper reset made a bit more useful too but considering itās more or less a discontinued item (yes I know you can get it in wilderness slayer chest) with the removal of weekly challenge steak, itās not incredibly important.
I just dont like the idea of them not counting at all, i dont want to have to waste skips kuz i cant pick my task yet. Maybe just have them count spiritually
the problem is that like, even if they counted for 1/4... they'd still be cheesin
yeah I struggle to see how people have enough reaper refreshes for it to be a real concern
unless they were dumped out by TH/events but those come with their own baggage
Wars 4 gives you infinite reaper's choice, there's no resetting involved
Probably should ask ourselves if Wars 4 should give infinite guaranteed Reaper's Choice after all of the recent Soul Reaper changes
Could have the zuk ones count for kills but give nothing but slayer xp id be ok with that and have the full hour run jad count fully
We're now getting Reaper points for doing Slayer tasks?
Wildy slayer?
Yes
Has always given the reaper point
A Slayer task from Mandrith awards 22 Slayer points at time of completion. Completing Mandrith's Slayer tasks will award a wilderness slayer chest. If the task is completed without dying or skipping it, a reaper point is also awarded.
This is the first time I'm seeing this
they have logic in there for jad/haraken in zuk (and all other mobs) to only give loot the first time the wave is attempted in a run. They added it to shop wave 4 farming. Utilize that and have it not count as a reaper kill if you dont get loot.
I think its different tho because with the wave 4 farming you stayed in the encounter. With the jads you are leaving and using the checkpoint
Can we remove the daily limit on modified headpiece teleports? It's just an unnecessary limit especially since modified farmer's hat is the only TP to morytania allotment patch for farm runs.
ectophial, surge surge bd
Okay that's an option, but the daily limit on TPs is just unnecessary whether or not there's other options
That im in agreement with. and for camo outfit to get heists teleports.
unlimited eternal magic teles would also be good, but at the same time eternal magics have a ton of available teleports (memory shards, fairy ring, eagles peak to pisc boat, etc)
Its been mentioned before, but if we are keeping marks of war, a reaper reroll could be a good use for them. Something like 4k marks for a reroll.
that's a lot. i'd rather they do with the 100%-75%-50%-25%-0% reaper points and then you pay marks of war
Yeah 30 slayer points to change reaper assignment is pretty steep
The point cost is fair because the tasks reward a bunch of slayer points now
...30 slayer points shouldn't be that many by the time you have access to Reaper Tasks? if it is, you might wanna consider going to 75 combat/doing Smoking Kills.
each task gives 20+ points too
so unless you reroll every task, its easily sustainable
I can't remember the last time I did a slayer task. How many points do reaper tasks give now? I only ever did reaper assignments
Apparently I only have 138 slayer points atm lol
22 from laniakea, and 20+ from each reaper, so you get tons
I see.. Did they give a reason why they changed how reaper tasks are rerolled? The previous method seemed fine to me
since reapers are infinite now (300 points a week limit), decreasing the reward from 1 task isnt rly much of a cost
fair enough
With absolutely 0 reason to do daily challenges with 5.8b exp now, can we get an option to disable the notification every day for new challenges??
I hear some talk about Jagex removing the RuneMetrics website tomorrow. Are they talking about https://apps.runescape.com/runemetrics/app/welcome or something else?
so right now you could farm loot by repeating waves via leaveing and coming back to checkpoint?
For the 3 jads yes. They have a checkpoint right before them.
Farming jads on wave 16 is something some ironmen do for mid levels seeds and early dragonstones
that seems very broken
Not really. Its not too many items
Now that Reaper is working more like the core Slayer gameplay loop, with the ability to continuously get a new task after the previous one, and pay a cost for the ability to reroll task, I wonder if it would be too unbalanced to go a little more synchronised with Slayer and introduce a way to ban a small selection of bosses, even just one, in exchange for a premium of Reaper points.
I'd like the idea for completed boss log then allow the option to block .
Either that for give the first 3 War's blessings 1, 2, and 3 blocks unlocked
That's not a bad call actually. They're looking for a possible use for War's Marks. Maybe not a even a full ban, but a temporary banishment at cost of Marks? That way to keep things off the list you're going to have to keep bossing anyway.
can someone please explain to me why if we are removing "dailyscape" there are vendors which were picked to not receive a weekly stock
Some shops were inadvertently missed and will be addressed on Monday.
why am i still forced to check meilyr daily, while i can buy 700 bomb vials at the fort.
why does the stock slowly regen instead of fully filling on a weekly basis.
they havent removed the goalpost with update, only moved it slightly
That was the point, to make it more flexible, in case you miss a day or two.
You don't have to login every day now in order to get your vials. You can get them once a week.
Yes. Two reasons. Firstly, some shops have vital stock that could destabilise the economy if bought weekly in bulk. Other than that, secondly there is not a single script that runs all shops. This game is a ramshackle bunch of modules that were all added at different times by different programmers and a few shops that aren't part of the core code got missed. These will likely be added later.
Also some shops just dont need it. For example why would the bakers stall in ardy market need a weekly stock? It should be for shops where items have a high volume
picking and choosing what will "destabilize" the economy is a pretty poor excuse for the overhaul which theyre claiming to be doing. 700 vials are available per week whether you get it each day or all at once. if the shops fill on a daily basis it doesnt increase the flow of product vs the total available by setting it to weekly
They will most likely fill in the blanks on Monday
Most people will find it easier to remember to visit a shop once a week than every day on demand. That makes it more likely that items that would be forgotten, or skipped on days where someone couldn't be bothered, will instead enter the market and increase tradeable volume.
if their intention is to manipulate the market by protecting the influx of items they could simply increase the cost of item at the vendor
this is meant to be a QoL update lessening the burden on players doing daily tasks and as it stands causes people to complete additional daily and weekly tasks dependent on the item and vendor location based on rationale that goes against what they claim this to be accomplishing
I did all my shop runs on my ironman after the weekly reset all at once and I don't have to touch them again until the next weekly reset
Imo it is working as intended they just need to finish the last little bit of shops that need the updated stock
i agree with this, minus the fact a dev came out and said something about the fact they were possibly not going to update some shops due to concern of GE effects. the GE economy shouldnt be relevent when making changes like this in game. its either do the QoL update across the board or dont. the total stock available hasnt changed, only the easy in accessing it each week.
From what I understand that was the whole point of it. You dont have to worry about doing daily runs. You can let the stuff build up and buy it all at once. As an ironman I think there is plenty in the shops with the update
They need to go back around and hit the shops they missed to be fair, but that likely wont happen till atleast monday at this point
And for a "dailyscape" overhaul, they certainly missed a LOT of annoying functional dailyscape things, like anachronia base camp, the arc, ports
Allegedly they will be going back for those, but i couldnt find any posts from jmods confirming that as fact
Agreed. Having to wait each day for my port contracts to reup as I work on mqc and trim is beyond frustrating
I used the ports enhancers to blitz thru those reqs quick on my main
You know what would have solved the issues with the runespan points now that i think about it? Just make ti so ALL runecrafting earns you points, instead of just runespan, and just have runespan give them at an increased rate, like x5 or something, to offset the terrible xp rates in there
include to that, tps added to the hood instead of beinf individual tables, and i buy it
Yes 100%, those teletabs should be able to be added to the wicked hood for their respective altars
The teletabs also cost WAY to much to every justify spending time in runespan farming points for them in their current iteration
The teletab costs should be balanced so that the best xp method is farming runespan for tabs to do instant altar runs, while only abyss runs is only slightly worse and only runespan is just terrible.
between the cost of the tabs, and runespan being mind numbingly boring as a training method, personally until i decide for some reason i want to go for comp runespan is functionally dead content, atleast to me
It would be nice if shops restocked fully on the weekly tick instead of 1/7th on the daily tick. This would give a greater period time during which you could purchase maximum stock.
Currently, you still only have 24 hours before you start to lose out on potential stock. You just have to go once every 7 days.
Just QoL.
Then go less than eveyr week to pick up stock?
Or do 2 weeks back-to-back at weekly reset for 14 days worth in 5 mins. That sounds wild imo
only runespan is just terrible
I disagree with this. Being able to pick between similarly strong choices is good imo or having a meaningful choice for which outcome you want. I kind of hate when there's 1 stand-out way to do something that's objectively better than everything else. I like when it's kind of pick what outcomes you want - exp -> runespan, or product (threads, runes) -> abyss, bit of both -> runespan + altar tablets.
I'm not sure where the Ouranian altar sits nowadays - I remember it being alright exp but it's worse than the abyss for exp and random runes is worse than being able to pick which kind you want too. Should that stay competitive at higher levels?
i disagre with your disagreement, runespan in it current state just sucks, doesn work for xp or tabs, that time spended is better on doing any other rc training xp method/ and just walk to your altar or use abyss
do you not think it's fine to have span be the stand-out afk option?
Yeah it currently sucks. I read Terper's comment as it should remain sucky to do just that and that's what I was disagreeing with. I might have just read it wrong. tho'.
It's not even afk atm either but I'd be okay if it became that. Right now the creatures last 5 runes unless actively counting + reclicking them at fewer, and if going after nodes, need to be constantly checking if they're up and looking for the next one to go to while siphoning + planning a route. I think it's quite active.
The most afk element is a runesphere once found and even then need to keep an eye on it changing state since that stops you siphoning.
That could be tweaked to support afk training though. Possibly make floating ess give +100 (so it doesn't nerf the node-chasers who could do a creature for +45 ess or whatever it is), make creatures last for more runes (maybe 25/50) to support afking, possibly with diminished exp or success rate after the first 5 so those who prefer being more active can keep doing so and are rewarded for it.
Or maybe enable 3-ticking or whatever (like how divination rewards actively clicking the springs) - I see a mix of people who enjoy that and people who enjoy less active training or being more social at the cost of exp the times I've been to the hall of memories core gatherings at least. Is that too strong? Idk.
i was wrong about removing wildy events. i thought it would suck to not have them. but its actually so much less stressful. nice to not be fomoing about them and missing them cuz irl stuff.
Can we get Smoke Cloud Off global cooldown please ?
The problem with a longer goal, for example some of the longer quests, is that by the time I can get back it takes so long to figure out where I left off. I care for my mother. And after my father and my middle son died last year I have a lot more responsibility. So the dailies were nice bite size content that gave a sense of accomplishment.
I'm sorry about what happened to your family. I'm no father but I can only imagine how much losing a son would hurt...
Having said that, would you still do dailies if no additional xp was awarded?
I would and I do. But I dropped sandstone because they made it slower but never ending. Iāve had 200 mil woodchucking for a long time but I still woodchuck. (Yes I know thatās nuts lol) and thanks. He played RuneScape so some things are hard without him. My other son plays but lives 45 minutes away and works 12 hour shifts. So harder to connect in game.
In that case, I have no issue with daily challenges staying in the game if it awarded no additional xp. I would even get behind adding more daily challenges if it awarded no additional xp and acted only as a guide of sorts.
Now that quick teleports take law runes, can they give a little bit of magic xp? Maybe each location could take a different combination of runes, and you could unlock different destinations by training magic?
I think if they are to grant magic xp, it should 1) be toggleable (locking skillers out of quick teleports would be bad); and 2) be scaled to the lowest theoretical magic level at which the quick teleport can be cast (for most this will be level 1 and so maybe award 10-ish xp; for bandit camp it would be 50 and award similar xp to the ardougne teleport spell etc)
I don't think theres any reason why they should now give magic xp. Just use the actual spell book teleports if you want xp from teleporting
Even then, you can just block xp.
not sure if it counts, but the ranged guild shop, arrow shafts/heads and such looks to be unchanged
Alright, I was being facetious. I don't actually want home tele-ing to give xp.
I was pointing out that quick tele-ing, especially with being able to store the charges in this interface so you don't have to carry the runes with you, makes most of the teleports in the standard spellbook useless.
I don't think it does - they go to different locations (and I think take a tick less). if you're trying to optimise traversal there is a lot to be said for having both
there is a lot to be said for having both
Let's hear it.
so for instance, if I have the clue which requires me to speak to Wilough, getting there from the lodestone is about another 10 seconds. Not a huge amount but adds up a lot with it applying to a bunch of different clues over the space of an hour
At that point, if someones doing clues they got abyssal relic on for unlimited teleports everywhere anyway. Just need spellbook swap.
sure but you'll still want the lode tele as well for e.g. nw of the ne corner of varrock east mine
I do like me loadstones. Idk why people hate on them
@sharp ridge Im sure it has been mentioned but i thought i would be safe rather than sorry. There is now a impossible to complete trim comp requirement due to the changes to shooting stars.
Thats wierd. Wiki says it was supposed to be removed from the achievement
slight critique of how coeden daily items have been done - it appears that what it's doing is rolling once then multiplying by 7, which substantially increases variance vs rolling 7 times and adding. prefer consistency from these rewards
It was supposed to be, But then they messed it up š
Over the last month every time I have logged on I have noticed less and less players online, currently about 5k across all servers... when's the roll back? =p
Many people are upset over the price increases and rugpull on gf rates. But theyre not going to roll that back. There is no discussion being allowed to do so. But you may see the opposite trend come Monday when Havenhythe releases. With that said, if you do not like where the train is going, youre always welcome to get off.
already have downsized, no longer paying for multiple accounts, will wait and see what happens with the new area but not holding my breath, its a sad end to a near 22 year journey.
It never really ends. People go on and off games constantly. Maybe its just time for you to take a break from this one is all. And theres nothing wrong with that. Many people are on the fence about the updates thatve been coming out recently, and have also voted with their wallets. All that will really determine where were going though is time.
people upset over price hike
get told to leave
they leave
less players = less money for jagex
jagex raises prices again
oops...
ultimately these changes were always going to be painful in the short term - RS3's playerbase has become deeply filtered for a small group of the wider gaming community who accept some pretty horrendous design choices - but you don't attract new players immediately simply by removing the factors that were slowly killing off the game
Where are you getting 5k from? Player popular has been stagnant to say the least for the most part
At the top of the home page has this - but that soudns high so I'm guessing it's just counting everyone who has the jagex launcher open or the client open regardless of if logged in or not?
OSRS has this which I'm guessing is a similar thing. Altho' I don't know if that's generally more active or about the same as RS3 /shrug
The main website is both OSRS and RuneScape combined as it's using the login server's number as it also had funorbs and others inside too, OSRS is just theirs updated with the games engine.
A couple people grab "active" counts from highscore updates in experience and rank changed, while not 100% accurate it considers at least a partial scope to look at for activity.
Concurrent logins aren't a full metric either as say if the number is 1000, 100 log off, 200 login, it will show 1100, so it will only look like 100 login not 1200 unique characters total
Mhm, would be quite interested in daily/weekly active players but suspect that's too private to share ^^
count the players on each server and add them up, the RS site is misleading, RS3 doesn't have a online player count, OSRS has and the one on the main page includes RS3 and OSRS
The osrs site shows their player count. Just subtract it from the total player count on the rs3 page.....even during non peak hours it's like 12k
well i don't know what to tell you, there weren't 12k when I posted that this morning. I admit 7 am isn't peak
Well I don't know what to tell you either other than you counted wrong
hmm, i don't think so. i think this game is slowly dying and these changes are what's strangling the remaining life out of it. too much too fast and listening to the loudest rather than the silent majority these devs lost contact with a long time ago.
Could just be visual. The code behind it might have been removed but visually overlooked to be removed from comp list
It's also worth noting that in the lobby = online probably as far as the count is concerned so online may not match counting the worlds (which is fair imo). /shrug
"I don't think so" is a valid response when we're talking about something opinionated. But you are just factually wrong here. People have been saying "game is dying" for the last decade and a half and yet here we are. At the very least you can just multiple 127 worlds by 100(assuming we get 100 avg population per world) and you'd be wrong. Like I said, the population is stagnant. It looks like it isn't decreasing or increasing. And I'm very glad jagex isn't listening to the silent majority. Atleast it's bringing in newers players
What evidence do you have that i am factually wrong? Do you have a screenshot of the figures on the servers at 7 am this morning? if so please post them, unfortunately i don't so i don't have the evidence required to disprove your assertation that my counting was wrong, therefore I state, I don't think so, referring to my count being wrong, an opinionated portion of our prior conversation š
Just the fact that rs3 player count hasn't gone to 5k is evidence lol. I play during the offpeak hours because of my time zone.
quite the contrary - the changes are addressing the reasons the game is dying
no, these changes have very little to do with why the game is dying, the game started dying when jagex decided to introduce MTX and chose to exploit the players that supported them in the first place, nobody left because there were too many options for the combat bars or dailyscape was too adictive to not do and thus wasted your gaming time? This feels more like devs trying to justify themselves
things like daily incentives are generally reviled across the gaming space and associated with low-quality mobile gaming. personally I preferred combat before the changes but it's sticking one's head in the sand to pretend that people widely didn't engage with RS3 combat due to finding it too complicated. yes, MTX has been a major issue, but it's certainly far from the only one
i think the tick system is what the majority of new players don't get on with, and what, if anything, makes this game feel like a low quality mobile game. i cant help but think this current course of action is only going to alienate the group of users that will forgive that style of qwerky gameplay (really only people with the nostalgia for the good old days) and ultimately not attract any new players because that system is not friendly to new players. maybe the devs goals should be to reattract the people they lost with their past mistakes rather than try with a new audience that doesn't fit their platform
Fishing levels?
200m on the main. 78 on the iron

personally, I've repeatedly left BECAUSE of the dailies, any time a game starts feeling even a little bit chorey I dip.
It's only a chore if you make it like one yourself.
in a game in which a major part of the fun for a lot of people is planning and optimising, that's going to be a lot of your potential playerbase
would i like to spend a minute killing rabbits for 450k combat xp, or spend 30 minutes afking abyssals
i wonder which is a more effective use of my time
True. 30 minutes afking is such a chore.
I played for the first time in 3 weeks, an wow, amazing how much just keeps getting removed from the game. I've played since the game was maybe a year old, and I cant believe how all these supposedly progressive changes to "improve" the game are merely regressing the game back 15 years. All RS keeps doing is taking back anything that made it easier to play or rewarded players simply for signing in every day. All these complaints about "dailyscape" - quite frankly, many days that's all I feel like playing. No one EVER had an requirement to take advantage of daily things. If they FELT obligated, that's on them to not realize if they don't want freebies and rewards, don't do the little work necessary to obtain them. I have less and less incentive to sign in anymore, as I dont have several hours a day to grind like I used to. Congrats on doing everything possible to make the game a reward for the richest oligarchs, give those who arent super wealthy nothing as punishment for being less than super wealthy, and driving away longtime loyal players who want the ability to play casually and get some reward simply for their longevity and loyalty. The new RS just sucks more and more every week.
Sometimes ladders need to be pulled up to make the game better overall.
Things that never should have been in the game are getting removed. Its been a long time coming
If people had to have 300k exp or whatever in 5 minutes of playtime rather than actually play the game and gain exp organically, id say it's time to move on to other games. Runescape has always been about the grind. It's not a game you finish in a month
Game was fun before all of this, it'll be fun without it
If they made the "getting there" more fun (which looks like what they're planning to do with Road to Restoration), these talks about pulling the ladder up wouldn't matter as much. Because you wouldn't have to max to start having a fun time.
As someone who did 1:30hr of dailies per day including full herb/tree/bush run its a huge W. I can get back to what I want to do in game.
Yeah.. my mindset on how I think about dailies removal always leads me to the conclusion that dailies being removed is great for the game lol.
I don't have this problem of feeling forced to do dailies but I know some people do. So they spend an hour of playtime to complete this list, all the time feeling like it's a chore.
Now if Jagex removes dailies but buffs xp gain for skills that need it, I benefit AND the people who feel forced to do dailies won't have that problem anymore. It's a win-win situation for everyone.
I also just canāt help but grin and shake my head when somebody pulls that āthatās YOUR problemā, because it entirely ignores all social aspects of a community. Like if a large, dare to say majority, portion of the community, maybe giving a (non-accusatory) narcissistic speech isnāt going to make anyone agree with a person.
Besides, they literally always have the permanent fresh start world card they can pull at any given moment if playerbases drop too much. Itāll make a difference.
Playerbase looks healthier than it's been in a long time to me, seeing more new irons than ever before and lots of places are alive
Game is only going to die catering to people in their retirement home phases where they don't even want to play the game anymore but log in out of obligation to get free shit
Just give a few more things like remote PoP management so I don't have to drop what I'm doing to check on missions
Personally, I despise PoP. Iāve never found it engaging for me, so I just donāt engage in it
You can already check on missions remotely with the [[Captain's Log]]
Wiki links found:
https://runescape.wiki/w/Captain's_Log
Not for adventurer story missions, you need to be in person for those. Also daily black marketer and trader stock can only be bought in the port itself.
Yes, the story missions are the only ones you have to be in the port for. The other things you mentioned aren't missions. Obviously there's more stuff you can only do in the port, like upgrading buildings, changing scroll focus, helping Meg, etc. etc. The point was that you don't have to drop what you're doing to check on missions.
If they ever get rid of PoP all the compers will riot including me
Comping is such a nothingburger these days, I comped like 10 years ago and barely anything has been added that you wouldn't normally do
Can we get rid of these?
Pleeeeeeeassse
If you're level 99 or higher in a skill, you can toggle it off so you no longer get challenges for it. If you're level 99 or higher in all skills, you can toggle them all off and get no challenges.
Horrible update, especially for irons
Would you mind explaining a bit more as to why it is horrible? Because that's the kind of feedback jagex can work with
Apparently the "streak bonus" for Soul Reaper falls under the weekly cap. I hope this is unintentional because it feels really bad to void 40-something reaper points.
...is there a reason it wouldn't?
especially given that if it didn't... wouldn't you do really specific task lineups to set it up so you get a task when you are like, 290/300 cap and then get streak for extra points?
I was just thinking it would be best to either remove the streak bonus rather than have it remain under the cap, or have the streak bonus not count towards the cap at all and just be a bonus on top.
reaper points cap is kind of stupid, no?
why not number of tasks instead?
That way you can train slayer by bossing.
Why would number of tasks make more sense? Then you're just making newer players feel bad for not progressing faster, or punishint players more than you need to when doing more chill content. As it is now, it just takes longer. Thats all thats needed.
Solution 1 (Task Cap) is a progression-rewarding system:
- Highest-level players earn the most points per week
- Newcomers and veterans do the same number of tasks but receive different rewards
- Strongly incentivizes leveling up as a direct economic benefit
- Creates a wealth gradient over time (veterans pull ahead)
- Simpler UI (task count is the only number to track)
Solution 2 (Points Cap) is a fairness-focused system:
- All players earn the same maximum weekly points, regardless of level
- New players feel respected (not disadvantaged for being new)
- Requires high-level players to be more selective about tasks (efficiency reward)
- Reduces time commitment for veterans (fewer tasks needed to cap)
- More complex UI (players must track points, not just task count)
Which is better?
Choose Solution 1 if:
- You want progression to feel tangible and rewarding beyond gear/stats
- You want to retain and motivate long-time players
- You're okay with veteran players earning significantly more for the same effort
- You want the simplest possible rule for players to understand
Choose Solution 2 if:
- Fairness and equality across player levels is a priority
- You want to avoid complaints about gatekeeping rewards behind level requirements
- You want to reward efficiency (knowing which tasks to pick) over pure time investment
- You don't mind that veterans might feel their progression is being "capped"
Hybrid option to consider: A modified task cap where the cap scales slightly with levelāe.g., level 10 = 12 tasks max, level 50 = 15 tasks max, level 80 = 18 tasks max. This gives veterans a modest advantage while keeping the system simpler than a points cap, and reduces resentment from new players.
I'd have to go for option 2. That way I can still do more tasks to train my slayer.
easy option 2.
its just weird. you dont need top level players to always be getting the most of everything, or be the most efficient. they arnt even the most in need of points, either. everyone should get the same amount, although its fine if harder content gets it done faster. but some people insist on making every part of earlygame garbage just so they can feel better about being endgame
...what's the issue with the current system?
i assume they think that endgame players arnt superior enough
if you go with option 2 for the purpose of slayer, isn't it counter productive to that?
How? If it's only a point cap, then you can keep doing Reaper Tasks for the slayer XP after getting your weekly cap of points.
oh, i wasn't aware of that.
is slaying bosses via reaper that much more slayer exp than slayer tasks themselves?
I canāt speak on late game since I only play on my mid game GIM anymore, but it kind of depends from what Iāve experienced. If you can knock out the kills fast, it seems faster. If you canāt, then I feel that there are many slayer tasks that outperform in xp
If you manage to get like, letās say a dragon task, and then get a dragon boss, you can get more xp out of it. Specifically you get xp per kill + reaper completion
I kinda like the idea of the cap preventing rewarding points when hit but still allowing you to gain full points
Eg:
- if I'm at 300 points, any new tasks will not give any reaper points
- if I'm at 280 points, I have the choice of taking a 20 point task (hitting 300), a 40 point task (hitting 320) or an 18 point task so I can then get a 40 point task later, hitting 338. It adds a bit of strategy for those who want to min-max it
- players who hit the cap of 300 will be happy. Those who exceed the cap will be extra happy
- way better than someone being at 298, doing a difficult task without knowing how close they are, and getting a measly 2 points and feeling sad
It's probably mainly jsut a bonus that they can train slayer with just reapers
