Will eastern isles tasks / chime trade cap get looked at down the line?
it takes a fair bit to actually reach the cap, but it does mean you have to spread out selling the resources you gathered over x days
While not ideal, I feel its an attempt to placate the 'everything's being taken away before fixing things' crowd. Perhaps they'll revisit feedback on Dailies later in the year when all the skill rebalancing is done
I can only hope, I really hope the decision was made with the best intentions and not just because of a YT vid or a couple of Reddit posts
question since magic is the only combat style rn without a moving ultimate damage boosting ability, when they going to convert the ultimate like death swiftness?
Yeah I don't actually think it's that bad, but it just feels frustrating to see many of the most social activities in the game, that yes, were very powerful reward wise, be outright removed. I like seeing other players in game.
prob never cuz the skill has the most channels out of the 4 in the game
Perhaps it makes sense to add Jatix's herblore shop and the one in Meilyr clan in prif to the weekly shops?
God what a terrible excuse at the end
@static solstice here, i did some math with help of AI
-
The Cost Breakdown
First, we calculate the cost of a single growth potion in GP:
• Cost per Bean: $3,800,000 / 3,600 beans = 1,055.56 GP per bean
• Cost per Potion: $1,055.56 * 1,000 beans= 1,055,556 GP per potion -
The Probability Breakdown
1/10,000 chance per pick and up to 29 picks per potion.
• Chance of a Core per Potion: The probability of getting at least one core in 29 picks is roughly 0.2896% (1 - (0.9999)^{29}).
• Expected Potions for one Core: To be "on drop rate," you would need to use approximately 345.3 potions. -
Total Profit/Loss Calculation
• Total Expected Cost: $345.3 Potions * 1,055,556 = 364,494,508
• Value of the Core: $ 450,000,000
**• Expected Profit from Core: $450,000,000 - 364,494,508 = 85,505,492 **
the only time you are at a loss is,
(Assuming) Current Drop Rate: 1 in 10,000 (Profitable)
Break-even Point: 1 in 12,349
Loss Point: 1 in 12,350 or higher
update: as others have pointed out, it is not per-pick of herb, but per completion of the herb collection
Bro just disagreeing with me for the sake of disagreeing now because he went off track the first time
Nope, I actually just hated yak track lol
Yak track doesnt belong is rs
Yak Track but with nerfed rewards would be a fine replacement for dailies imo
Theres a reason it got yeeted.
yak track was just a way for jagex to lock cosmetics behind doing annoying tasks for hours to keep player retention in the game
Like I said, FOMO. Force players to stay logged in, or else they’ll miss those cosmetics and pets.
More people cared about the xp boost than the cosmetics tbh
@strong tusk its 1 chance per potion, not 29. you only roll at the end int update it says "fully claiming herbs from the wilderness herb patch"
yea but you are always gaining xp cosmetics usually never come back
Who said it was per pick?
Most of the cosmetics were ass and are unused
yak track was convenient but I def dont think it was healthy for the game tbf
Bold to use AI when it's clearly wrong on point #2 on how probability is calculated
Convenient? Those tasks were usually ass.
It would be a good middle ground between the "REMOVE DAILIES" and "KEEP DAILIES" crowds, just balance it better
it's definitely not rolled per pick; newspost said it's only rolled when fully clearing patch
yes, it was still convenient even if tasks were ass. it gave a lot of nice things but its not good for the game as a seasonal pass with fomo behind it.
its a lesser hero pass
yea so since its 1 roll per potion multiply your expected cost by 29 to get actual cost
In a sense, the change to the sandstone is also a nerf. If you just need material for a few flasks, then the sandstone takes longer to mine. Suggestion: have the first 50 or so sandstone be obtainable at the original rate, and only after that does the hardness of the rock increase.
Since Jagex's latest updates have been about removing FOMO, I assumed it was implied that they'd do this anyway
I'm one of the biggest believers in the road to restoration but the whole daily challenges thing is so bad, idk what constructive feedback I can give other than remove them, this whole thing feels like it actually need a poll like OSRS because at this point there's no more feedback to give rather than remove them or keep them in the game.
that's even better than i hoped, means the chances are far worse
with the first yak track yes it was convient but with the second yak track they added a timer to each task that if you did something in game it would tick and most of the time that was faster than doing the task that was the other option
Still think it's quite a big miss that ports has not even been considered in this topic. It's in my opinion one of the worst dailies in the game, especially once you've completed the initial area's.
Other than that overall big W on the changes.
im not sure what you are referencing. yak hasnt been around since hero pass, almost 3 years ago
The whole thing needs a full rework tbh
even better to prove that it is not broken at all
yea so expected cost per is closer to 10.5b each instead?
Agreed
In the hypothetical of replacing daily tasks with a nerfed Yak Track
tho if you are doing ports its more of a constant grind to send out the ships not a daily thing once you complete it all
I have so many complaints about Port, but most of them boil down to “if you’re not touching it every 2 hours, it’ll take literal years to progress.”
No they'll never add anything like that again after the extinction event from Hero pass
Later area's some trips take like 16 hours right, to me that's pretty much a daily :p
id say no to both best case. worst case keep dailies. jagex said it does help players figure out what to do. This alone is significantly superior to p2w yaktrack
does nobody remember the 20% exp boost?
Hero pass/yak track is the reason why we are having these changes in the 1st place
but if you arnt on top of it you are just pushing your completion of the content and pushing the real daily aspect of it rerollinig everything to only get item resources to make things to sell not build the port area/ships
Oh, you're just not reading before responding I guess. I've already said a rebalanced version would be a good middle ground.
Remove the FOMO nature and overpowered rewards, but still provide tasks that give direction as they've wanted.
hey we should add back hero pass but make it better. thats essentially what this convo is
Nobody said Hero Pass, and the complaints were the rewards which I've already addressed.
How, pray tell, would you remove the FOMO from Yak Track? The entire thing was designed to be pure FOMO.
plus the issue of the yak track would be that it would detract from updates that people want and push that dev work to only on cosmetics unlocked via the track
figaro, the point im making is that we are discussing the readdition of a seasonal pass that was unhealthy for the game to just do so.
the idea is to not add more.
hero pass in its final iteration IS yak track
no to either. keep or remove dailies is better by miles
Yeah fair, guess it's mainly for completionist stuff. I personally just dislike it takes so long (and for my gameplay dailies) to finish some things without actual active gameplay. Just sending boats to get scrolls takes so long. Perhaps this is just a personal thing tbf
hero pass/yak track were not bad. cristism fell into 2 categories mostly. the p2w aspect and the no effort category. Without the p2w aspect though it wasnt financially feasible to offer it and have worthwhile rewards that people want to engage the content with. The no effort cateogry people you cant fix, they in the mindset of if i dont want to it it and cant get the rewards then nobody should get them
Make it easier to complete (rather than the 20%(?) they stated a while back) and remove the interaction with bonds. Still add some rewards as an incentive that aren't as "overpowered" as daily tasks.
It means people aren't rushing to do them like dailies, and two of the other obnoxious FOMO elements are removed.
removing the time limit and having people select an 'active track' woulda done this.
but fundamentally battlepasses have no place in a sandbox mmorpg that's mostly centered around progression, since it actively undermines the core gameplay loop and sandbox aspects
^
i mean if you wernt in the mind of a completionist (which i am i have master trim comp) you wouldnt care about sending out ships in the first place to get scrolls
If you remove the time limit, it’s either an endless track with no end, or it’s a one-and-done thing like livid farm, where you spend a week grinding it and then never engage with it again.
exactly
they can still have an end, legends of runeterra showcases that exact design
is this where we give combat feedback
I'm kinda burnt out on temporary game modes guys. And I consider yak track to be included in that.
because it is (x time to complete this specific list of content, enjoy)
its mostly a discussion forum on the recent update but yea
And an endless track is just a daily challenge in another wrapper. You see that, right? And a one-and-done track means it’s something that would end up as dead content once players churned through it. Just another checkbox for the comp cape, nothing more.
the actual combat feedback was closed today I think but yeah it would be these feedback pages. IG they did add some bossing changes with a couple of combat stuffs
one and done tracks are basically task sets that'd reward cosmetics.
since they have no fomo to pressure into purchasing skips, they wouldn't meet the conditions for sales to approve of the non-player-hostile design
Like I said, dead content that players would only do for comp cape.
it's not dead content, it's completable content in the same sense as quests are
yea but do you really want dev time to be put into a track over other content that you could have fun in
daily challenges with just exp reward is also dead content too that played would only do until 200m exp.
ofcourse not, any sane human that hasn't been broken by mobile gaming would see this
Battle passes can't be healthy for any game and are predatory by nature, they are afterall the evolution of lootboxes and should never be re added to RS in any way whatsoever
then why push for the pass in the first place
I dont think von was
I might've been the nr. 1 hater on this discord on em
He wasnt he ended his sentence with no sandbox mmo should have a battlepass
But not required for comp cape, while a redone yak track undoubtedly would be required for the unlockables.
but a fair breakdown requires atleast somewhat unbiased descriptions, and a fair assesment on what would improve it
only if they arbitarily added the unlockables to comp. Simply dont add them and its not a comp req?
i doubt a battlepass would ever be on a completionist cape but it would still get people to do it cause of the completionist mentality to get the track done before doing anything else in game
menaphos city quests are functionally the same type of design as yaktracks were, they just lack a neat background / ui
completing x of em was a requirement for trim, i believe
i think a battlepass system with rewards aimed in a way that most reasonable play time spread over a long term can get is better than the current daily system where if you dont log in you miss out.
people do the city quests cause of the exp rewards and for the achievement completion
the problem is that the battlepass design simply doesn't add anything to rs as a game, that isn't already covered in another form of content
No battlepasses are not good for any game
i agree they dont. but neither do dailies
very much depends on the implementation and whatever other systems are going on
my preference would be neither of them. but if i had to choose something out of them a battlepass style would be my preference. Where you can complete it in a week or six months, either way you get same rewards
right now i do my 3x dg dailies and get 150k exp (used to be 300k before today). In total they take me 1 minute to complete via shifting tombs total. 1 million exp a week by playing for just 7 minutes is not a good design for the integrity of skills
Battle passes or season passes like any system depend heavily on the implementation. Some games have battle passes where there's guarantees that the unlocks will cycle back in future batlte passes or are guaranteed to end up in a shop. Some battle passes are aimed at "nice to interact as a bonus with but not necessary". Other battle passes are core progression systems
We shouldn't have a conversation to have any, we should be pushing for Jagex to have none.
i'd like to think they finally got the message with hero pass
Sorry Aurelion Sol
i agree. none should be the way. and the fact they caved to critism of losing the handouts is the annoying part. Of course people were going to complain about it, why wouldnt they complain about losing free exp with minimal effort
yea but what did you do for the time the challenges were taken away tho and would you have gone for the xp somewhere else and enjoy it and did you complain about it being taken away for the short time it was taken away
wilderness flash events were removed because it felt you had to drop whatever you were doing to participate.
isn't battlepass just like wfe but in a larger scale? you wanted to do "this" thing specifically but it doesn't progress your battlepass so you're forced to do what the bp tells you to do
i wouldnt personally complain about the loss; but whilst its there i will use and abuse it
that's the rs way
still important to advocate for long term health of the game though
i wont lie before i was 200m dg i abused the system along side with the grind of getting thru content while doing the challenge like a hardmode dg floor solo for each tick of the challenge cause we didnt have the ability to cheese thru challenge that stupidly easy
Really wish they would just remove daily challenges entirely
agree 100%
they tried but community and internal backlash prevented that
Okay, I've cleared out my daily reminder list of things that are no longer daily, and I'm just left with a few things: Converting bones to bonemeal and slime with Robin in Port Phasmatys, completing Big Chinchompa twice, and collecting a bag of lost items from a Rug Merchant. I presume these are all staying with strict daily cut-offs?
A handful of loud people whining isnt the comunity.
Keeping them at all goes completely againts what they said about dailys
isnt the converting after doing morytania tasks tho? also nothing was removed from daily just stuck at a hard reset of weekly reset which is tomorrow in 28 hours
there was always going to be backlash though. surely they knew that before even deciding the removal was going to be a thing. They just need to stand their ground and do it
Converting is after morytania tasks. Just like Razmere Keelgan's plank collection, which is now weekly, unlike bone exchanging. And yes, I said I cleared out my daily reminder list. My weekly reminder list is now huge 😛
Something they could do is revert to the old daily challenge system. A few years ago, long before the weekly track for challenges, you'd get one challenge a day and could stack up to like 5 of them before they would start getting overridden by new challenges. The exp per challenge was also lower compared to the current system
They could return to that and let you stack up to 7 before the oldest ones start getting overriden
100%
while the weekly list is huge now your daily is even bigger since with todays reset in 4 hours or so you have 24 hours to collect everything or be forced to be left behind 🤣
Why? Why keep daily challenges, when YOU first said it was the biggest offender to the dailyscape? You should outright remove it, nothing else. People will still go on and get the easy 2 seconds free exp and level up their most unwanted skill. IT is still the biggest offender to the dailyscape.
This is not good, not good at all. Remove!!
its almost like people dont read each post that is put out
id agree with that. they old system would be more inline with the direction they are heading. Have challenge as a daily where you use it or lose it is not the direction they said they are heading.
A temporary setback. I shall simply forego sleep in order to stay ahead, and allow my natural unconscious instincts and surrounding traffic to gently guide me to work in the morning. 😅
that is basically what they did since you cant extend them with viswax to get double the tasks and take away the weekly track
its not that people are not reading that. its that what they said is contradictary to their goals.
They removed buyable lamps because they didnt want to give handouts. They removed plenty of other dailies because it induces fomo and people forced to play a specific way.... but yet keep dailies which both force daily log in and give exp handouts
So I can’t do Croesus reapers anymore for my lvl 3???— why would you combat lock that? Being able to get the hydrix was one of the only reasons I do them
they arnt reading it cause it clearly states that both J M O D S and P L A Y E R S hated the removal of the system and wanted it kept in game
Combat locking it is so dumb
its is your own fault for locking your account behind abatrary restrictions
Or they could keep things accessible for a SKILLING Boss
of course they are going to hate it. who doesnt like free stuff. The topic from the get go was going to be contraversal and always have backlash, you have to power through them to reach the goals. Not twist the goals because some players and jmods cried too hard over it
nothing is stopping your from doing the boss but if you want the reaper points be like everyone else do and stop restricking your account
I did read that and i disagree with that too. "Helping new and returning players" is just something they are saying too keep people trapped and for Jagex to make an excuse of what they intentionally ment to do.
I should not, but i am still going to, compare it to OSRS, they are completely fine without a "daily challenge" system and still getting new players. For all those years I have been playing the game on and off. I have NEVER been in the need of the daily challenge system.
It’s no different to someone who chooses iron man
would generally agree but croesus is a skilling boss and they were able to do it before the update. it seems like an oversight
It’s a speciality account type. I have a maxed 120 all acc, the point is it was available before and now you’re gonna make it unavailable? That’s dumb
but with an iron man account they dont interact with the community and do reaper tasks for them selves not to profit just cause you want to have a "speciality" account type to make money
Construction 120
whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
You could always opt into skilling bosses for Soul Reaper, but never opt out of combat bosses. The only way to do Croseus all the time is to skip until you get it (or can pick it).
^^^^^
cause it would force content that they want to be put in the game to be in too little of a level frame
So I want to ask for the people that want Daily challenges to stay explain your reasoning w/o mentioning irl reasons like time or x skills suck to train, I need to know why and if there's an objective reason for them to stay.
"explain your reasoning"
"but if i don't like your reasoning it doesn't count"
um
that is the only reason they have cause most training methods take too long to get the same amount of xp so unless the game overall is overhauled with exp changes they are going to keep them in for now
limited time and skills sucking to train are perfectly valid reasons to think dailies should stay
Those are the most common reasons I want to know if there's something else I'm missing or not seeing.
a lot of games has daily challenge
ff14 has dailies that give you massively among of xp, fortnite has daily quest
the reason is some people might not have enough time, maybe they have a kid, maybe they studying
Dallies are there to aleast keep people from falling to far behide
here the thing i play a lot of 14, took a break until dawntrail came
Dalies help me get viper and picomancer up in level and learning and raising the level
It gives a way to do something each day without having to come up with something yourself.
That's an opinion not a fact, which is why I asked my question that way.
Because some skills suck
looking at you agility
personally i so strongly dislike this new direction jagex is going that daily challenges are the only thing that has kept me logging in every day for the last...probably more than a month
and even then it was just for like 60 seconds to use up challenge tokens before they were removed
i guess i did my monthlies too, and the doggo quest
now you have a reason to train agility in the wilderness with the silverhawk feathers you might still have befor ethey are removed at the end of the year lol
im 115 in that skill
yeah i like torturing myself
lets do away with dailies and just log in and instantly get some large lamps in your inventory. thts what you all basically want right? its not about "it gives me something to do each day", its about doing what they tell you for a few minutes to get a easy exp. You generally dont stay at that task beyond the scope of the daily req
Would you be okay if Jagex keeps rebalancing xp rates, reworking skills so your time feels respected and don't feel pressured that you are falling behind?
Id quit if ot was just faily challenges bringing me online. Theres too much to do in rs3 not enough time to do it. Must be online 24/7
Freedom from WFE at last
but not 200m xp like i am but with serenity posts being change i doubt there will be much fight behind agility being horrible anymore (once you reach 75 at least lol and do the giant quest line)
id be happy for it, im all for it
sometime i forget to do dallies cus i do play the game
but there was a time where i couldn't play and dalies aleast keep me aleast not to far behide, work and families
It's less than 20 base xp doing correct pose
tbh the "new direction" might ironically might be the thing that finally leads me to go on hiatus again
i've been actively playing for 12 years now
but i Cannot. Stand. 120scape.
and they're clearly heading straight for it
but you can afk it for 15 minutes
Just wanted to pop in here to express my dissapointment with not totally removing Daily Challenges. I understand they have been reduced ect. but they are and still the biggest offender of daily scape issues outlined. Hopefully they can move to eventually remove entirely.
yeah that's like the freest Dojo method now. 4 click/hour til you get it
i wont lie the rates of getting the pet on the posts were horrible to being with lol
yet it ended up being the place where i got it (granted I was 200m at the time & anachronia course wasnt a thing yet)
they probably will in due time once the balancing updates are rolled out
imo the only reason jagex could get away with 110s and 120s was the prevalence of xp from th
they take away th and still want to raise skills to 120 without reworking the xp curve? that's just insanity
who wants to train another 50m construction xp???
People quitting or "Taking Breaks" left right and centre at the moment. The game is dying a slow death.
which is not the worst thing
keep the bandage on till there fix the wound or else it leaves a nasty scar
people make take breaks from the game but you never quit the game - some random meme maker
xp rebalancing is happening across the board and a lot of the higher end training methods give a lot
Oh yea I know that, but my clan has gone from 40/50 people online in the evening to like 5 people. Everyone in discord saying that's it, they're playing other games now.
a shame, how long have you been with that clan
My clan is dying = game is dying 🙂
You are not wrong about 120 scape they commented years ago that it's their 5-10 year plan rn, I would be lying if I said that some one my 99s and 120s were achieved thanks to TH and Daily challenges, but I think the game needs to rely less on that and actually work on becoming an overall playable state in all borders, I don't agree with your POV on challenges but I can try to sympathize with it, taking a break might not be a bad idea, I did that when I thought the game was going to die and I cameback liking it even more after the announcments, try taking a break there are other games to sink your time in or complete a playthrough on
6 years, and played the game since 2001.
It is no longer possible to get free daily runes or rune essence. Any remaining wicked hood teleport charges can still be used, but you are unable to gain new daily wicked hood teleport charges to altars apart from those obtained through any remaining Tokens you may still have.yeah this was a fricking stupid idea to start with and it's still a fricking stupid idea now that you've for some reason still gone and done it
burn out and fatigue in doing the same thing all the time is not what the human body is meant to do unless you have a mental disorder so its okay to move on and do something else
most people use the abyss to get to altars in the first place cause of the wicked hood changes in the first place
Yeah that's why I asked my question w/o mentioning irl reasons because Jagex is already adressing that with xp rebalances and skill reworks and remasters.
NGL a few of these changes feel bad to me, the runespan points being doubled does not really make up for how awful it is to train there, and the wicked hood teleports were literally already buyable with said points so there was no real reason for the ability to earn them being removed, they could have just removed the daily earned reset and then allowed them to pile like the shops
i don't usually use it for rcing
i used it for clues
and thats fair
I'm just 50k points away from full prestige, I'm 99 rc :p
With today's change, you will now be able to add quick teleport charges via the home teleport interface, at a cost of one quick teleport charge for five law runes. looooooool boy i'm glad i spent the last week stocking up on vis
Same, thats rough
And I hate the argument people keep making about “every other MMO has them”
Like yeah if the goal of the roadmap was to make RS3 similar to every other MMO then that would be great, but the whole point is to make it unique by focusing on integrity and very limited FOMO, a model that OSRS proved can work
can craft a ton of law runes pretty quickly tho so i like the change
thx god i can used my ungodly among of laws
there are literally thousand of teleports around the game a few seconds of delay shouldnt hurt you that bad
We'll see what happens.
Ok, well that something i guess, cause their remove in general when we already had an in game way to actively earn them feels bad
im just waiting for the PoH rework, i want to make my house useable
if not aleast liveable
going to be funny if they rework the house to be like osrs where you have to go to your house as a pit stop before doing any content or as a way to get around the game
I also see there was no real change to the anachonia base came resource caps, which in themselves are a functional daily scape as well
I am betting that the POH rework will just be to flex with a few stuff to help you ingame like Mansions in GTA Online, but not a full necessary investment like OSRS, they've already said they don't like instances and it's the reason war's retreat was added for everyone instead of a POH addon
it takes a long time to build up the stock of them and they can be converted to skilling attempts in that soul place in the volcano
what would be the 120 con cape tho
i hope we can get a perma house teleport
or have some buff or passive from the house like the statues in mena
how do you even do that without deleting wars
If anything POH will probably become the Construction HUB as in the main place to train construction and maybe prayer, but nothing beyond that
Going forward, Divine Locations can no longer be crafted from Divination.was stupid, still stupid
i mean what buff are you getting in wars tho besides the fire? and the altar
it takes less then a day and a half to fully build up 150k cap of a single resource, and once you hit that you dont earn more, so if you dont spend it at the dream of iaia its lost, if thats not dailyscape fomo, then i dont know what is
yea but once you reach 200m or unlock the unlockable in iaia what is left for the resources in the first place?
its quite literally the daily use it or lose it kind of thing they were saying this update was meant to remove
I don't think they exist in game anymore
they dont
its a lot slower if you need more than 1 resource... unless im doing something very wrong
I see they always felt like an odd benefit from divination, they were pretty mediocre for xp and resources
there are buffs in the game that extend the xp and resources tho but its like completionist content tbh
Instant TP button
what if the house added a portal tho to each boss https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Portal_nexus
One other thing I was wondering - There was a huge focus on how the removal of the Travelling Merchant is being countered by a rebalancing of the content he was most used to make easier. Not a single comment on Wythien's enhancers, they're just gone. Construction contract points (which I've thankfully finished needing) are horribly slow to get, and Champions Challenge scrolls, introduced during my time playing and years before bad luck mitigation existed for boss drops and the like, are so slow to get that I literally got my second ever scroll yesterday. What consideration has been given to the targets of the enhancers for QoL adjustments?
but if their stupid thought of copying the what works from osrs in rs3 it makes sense to think along those lines tho
ironically this is the literal opposite of jagex's argument for removing them, which is that they supposedly gave too much xp and items
which is stupid because you could only make 1-3 a day and could only harvest a couple
if have them you can still use them but once those run out that is it
That's not fixing the content though.
I don't think they are stupid, prob a bit short sighted at times, but I do hope they stick to their philosophy of not wanting to push for instances and continue the whole social aspect of the game.
they were flirting around with the idea of the poh on the surface and not in an instance
I'd rather have an instanced house than the real estate nightmare that FF14 has right now. Queues to buy land plots by lottery, lost if you don't play for a month...
with the balancing updates coming all thru out the year tho i dont see a reason to worry in the long term (but the human psychy is to panic about the now)
I would love that
i would think they would learn from that mistake tho and not implament it
Use this area
I know there's a low total player count right now but it's not that low 😛
that is the "starting area for new players" and there is already content that spawns there like shooting stars
Is there a confirmation from official source anywhere about a Tuzzy threshold?
I will say though, being able to do this once a week rather then 100 every day feels sooooo much better
If Jagex has the numbers I guarantee you that the Ashdale lodestone is the least used one by far
it was for a small time period the stating place for new players. but its not anymore
dont forget about the sandstone and crystal sandstone flasks and those potions hard reset in 27 hours
If we could build our houses out of instances and everywhere I would build mine here
the mobs there are always aggressive tho and if you just wanted it as a teleport to get there they added one when the 110 runecrafting update was put in the game
btw with this new reaper task system, shouldnt us have like 7 free rerolls per week? and after that use slay points?
Looks like the jatix shop in taverly got missed
i mean it was a giant list but i would report it in game just in case
Im aggresive aswell

i would think so since you are able to do what ever you want unless you restricted your self to be a skiller/pacifist
I do skill I do Big Game Hunter
skiller as in no combat
Gate of elindis
has anyone been able to confirm if you need to be on a slayer task for cores in wildy?
you do thank god
The 300 reaper point cap is a little too high, I feel like. That's around 42.8 reaper points per day, which is way higher than the average before the update. I'm guessing they just scaled it for how much Aamscut give?
even for the woodcut or farming?
I think it said you have to be on a Wilderness Slayer task. Not sure if that means one assigned by Mandrith specifically, or any slayer task where the target is optionally available there.
It means mandrith.
i also assume that means the restriction on mandrith where you do whole task in the wilderness and get that chest as a reward. So the core being given alongside (or inside) that chest
i would think so since most people cant do high lvl bossing they had to average it between the highest of doing amascut every day and doing barrows every day
huge w for would be fletching trainers here ngl
i do think 300 is on the high end. i was expecting 200ish. Where it was a "nerf" for those doing the daily high end ones but a buff for the lower end ones (albeit it more tasks needed to match the cap)
300 a week just seems like a buff all round except to the players that would use reaper refreshes
That's a Hydrix a week for most high level PvMers.
considering skillers cant just camp croesus for reaper now and actually need combat lvls to get reaper points
could argue its a hydrix for every pvmer if they willing to put in more effort
is it intentional that home teleport quick charges can't be used in f2p? can add charges, but they don't actually work, nor do they get consumed
it was that way before the game update since f2p cant use members content
i am aware, but you can add charges in f2p now, but not actually use them https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/598849338915160075/1483196913808576682/image.png?ex=69b9b644&is=69b864c4&hm=48150bbd99863724391b8cc2bfe825e0d3bbd834f336b7eda00560c5a749812e& (oops no embeds)
nothing stopping you doing the 25 normal mode unboosted reapers to hit that 300
copy paste with the snipping tool 😛
yeah I thought 300 per week was pretty high
I was expecting something more like unlimited but each task is like 2 points
yeh that link was from me posting a snipping tool screenshot in another discord :P
or unlimited cap and raising shop prices

Idk if camp is the right word. 9 kills an hour if you’ve got a good team And we’d only get 1 per day just like any other task… there’s not a valid reason why it’s combat locked now.
And why the hell would anyone do Croesus for 7hrs per day dude 🙄
could do public instance on world 68 and get that done in what a half hour
Yeah your drop chances are in the shitter though L0l and public’s are chaos. You’d be lucky to get 1/2 of the kills in an hour
could just get to the minimum combat xp then block combat xp at the guy in lumbridge
I don't see how that changes anything, that's 43 barrows tasks, in a week, and they don't take much time
I’d understand if it was like one of each task type per day or something, but just straight up combat locking it??
is this a skilling pures dont have access to some stupid alchemical hydrix item thing
was thinking more of an overall of points per week cause comparing how little points of doing barrows every day vs amascut and gettting 4 times as much
And we couldn’t camping before anyways lol we only had one task like everyone else
I think 200 reaper point cap per week is more than fair. If we average out Barrows and Amascut, it's 178.5 per week.
But we should push it to 200 to average it to around 28.5 points per day.
I guess but frankly people doing only barrows deserve to reach their goal of hydrix at a crawl; hydrix items are late game
Would be nice if quick teleports were enabled in free-to-play, or the option to add charges was disabled.
it was disable before the game update so why change it
the combat req on reapers threw me a little. it used to be 60 right (outside of croeus) so the reduction to 50 is there for croesus people only unless they rebalanced and took off the combat level reqs on other tasks such as flesh-hatcher/mole needing 60?
It already has changed. It's just in an awkward position right now where we can add charges but not use them.
yea but you arnt seeing the point that f2p were never able to quick teleport via loadstones cause it was members content
It seems like you argue just to argue against any idea that isn’t yours.
Are you purposely skipping over the point that we don't necessarily want quick teleports, just want it to be clear that adding them won't be helpful while free-to-play?
L update - H.A.M. guard store room keys still are not noted when using the pickpocketing cape 😄
that would be a thieving update not dailyscape
because the method of obtaining charges was from a members item, but that's no longer the case, so at the moment it just consumes items without giving you anything in return, and it also doesn't mention that they're not supposed to be usable in f2p
yea its more the point that f2p can add charges which cannot be used vs being able to use them. They should be able to spend the laws to add charges then never get to use em
unless there isnt a cap on how much you can store yes i can see the problem but with viswax the max quick teleport was 2k
the current cap is 4k quick teleports, which costs 20k law runes. 7.5m gp if bought from the only store that sells them in f2p, which took me 200 days on my f2p iron
which would take longer now since the shop stock is not the same and might have been lowered according the jmods posts
#1483091630440579123 message
though to be honest i think the bigger issue would be that people had stockpiles of runes ready to use for viswax making daily i cant imagine how the economy of runes is going to handle that influx not being use for viswax and only being used for spells now some runes in the game will most likely never be used again for price sake (but i guess everyone has hoarding tendencies)
Rune costs were just increased for spells no? - like the costs weren't increased but it still uses more runes
jagex you forgot something
they already know
#1483091630440579123 message
pretty sure it was only combat spells
Seems like a major usage point of runes
only the ones used regularly in combat
isnt rune cost was less since combat update? or they reverted
less for spells which used a lot of runes before, higher for everything else
i remember before update my main use like 2k fire per hour with exsanguinate (afk), now use 500
ye - but with air surge you'll use a lot more
unless they changed something with the combat update you can no longer not use runes/ammo at all when using abilities i think i read somewhere but not sure
So guys
Is there an actual objective reason for daily challenges to stay in the game or no?
i believe the rune/ammo use rate is on every ability but with a chance to "save". iirc in last weeks post the changed it to 15% consumption rate?
to be honest for me it was a mistake to remove them, it helps new players in the early, anyway now if you used to extend them the xp is nerfed by like a 50%
Daily challenges offering large xp chunks is a bad idea and should be nerfed
How does it helps them?
maybe, just maybe; if they need to keep them, offer bxp instead in the skill (way lower amount than current) as a little incentive to do it. But it should def not give out direct exp at the rates it is
Maybe fix the reason people relied on them first though? Cause im sorry, agility being 150k an hour at the top end fully active training method is kinda unacceptable in and of itself
xp, and a first contact with the skill for some

people want the massive amount of xp and with jagex taking a while to implement a way for training methods to give more xp comparable to protean items during dxp weekends most people dont want to train skills at all
as a 99 skill it's perfectly fine. it will need increasing when it goes to 110/120
(it's also closer to 250k when fully optimised)
thieving was like 900k an hour for the highest end safecracking which is semiafk, even WHEN it was a 99 skill
yes, thieving was far far far too fast
didnt they nerf that to the ground tho?
rip the bandaid off now with the exp handout on challenges that way they can balance the skill with respect to what its current rates are and not what the inflated daily challenge rates are. When they finally get round to boosting the exp rates of the skills if the new rates dont surpass the exp u can get in dailies then ppl are still going to not do they skill
im getting 105k xp from 3 daily challenges in 99 prayer
anachronia agility xp rate, not daily challenges 🙂
But as a FULL ACTIVE skill, it should not be so low for its rates, and im sure itll be touched upon when the late game rebalance happens like they did for with the low game ones, but still
but with the way the road map is layed out that wont happen on the high end untill winter time or even next year
But the problem is that it should have been addressed BEFORE they removed the bandaids, not after
my mistake
sure - I think if I were to redesign it I'd have xp rates cap at around 400k active and about 100k afk as a 99 skill (up to about 1m/250k for post-99 methods), but I also don't think current rates are remotely a problem. The issue with agility is everything before level 85
To be honest i would like something like heist but for agility, get actually good rewards while training with decent xp rates
yes probably not. but if they remove them now by time the buff does happen it will feel like a buff no matter what rate it is. If not it will be compared to daily challenges and if it doesnt surpass them then its doa.
This whole "remove a solution to a problem and come back to fix it later" they have been doing with some things recently is not a great feel for me
Heist xp needs nerf
Brimhaven Agility Arena but actually high level and engaging would be sweet
Agreed. Once I could do full Anachronia laps on my GIM it wasn't bad at all. But before that it sucked so much doing things partial Anachronia or jumping the Nature Grotto bridge lol
XP is kind of irrelavant for theiving at a point
It would help if Agility had some real value as you level it up as well. Jumping a bunch of obstacles to get more run energy and little else doesn't make for a very compelling skill.
3m+ /hr is just dumb.
Yeah, it would help a lot. The only value it had was getting x2 surge/escape for the group
i would like to see the league cds for mobility abilities as a rewards from some high lvl agility game/ course
bring back shortcuts
Shortcuts have just lost all value with how many teleports we have and I struggle to think of many places we even need them
They never went anywhere. Lodestones are too op
and shortcuts should feel shorter lol. the animation of some shortcuts is way too long and i often feel i could run around it faster lol
i hate those animations timers too
Make agility more relevant then just being for shortcuts and quests to be fair, hell it could be somehow tied into combat to add hit chance or dodge chance or something, but that in and of itself would require another rework and that likely won't ever happen
Realistically I'd love to see it tied into skilling speed and material saving chances
the biggest one i can think of is taverly dungeon and kuradel
Chances to complete two actions in one and so on
maybe a built in dodge chance like darkness tied to leveling benefits
And DG cape kinda kills taverley dungeon as well
thats at 99 tho and the shortcut was 70 something iirc
Exactly, but like, as a whole agility is almost functionally irrelevant aside from quests and max cape, like someone else mentioned most shortcuts have been completed negated as a need by the ever increasing teleport options we have
we need shortcuts on anachronia that are not on the course and actually cut down getting around
taking the course does cut down on the running around the island tho
only if its a point close to the course you need to get to
its almost just as fast to run to herby werby as it is to use the course and that is literally on the course
Plus its teleports are a self replenishing resource once youve bought out the shop to be fair
they also added a teleport to the dinasaur that is south of herby werby with the 110 runecrafting update as well
I would like to see shortcuts that have new, slightly improved areas. maybe there's a vyre area off to the side without needing door tech or lures to get your max spawns
Agility just needs a rework to be more relevant in the modern age of the game
basically resource dungeons 2, electric boogaloo
I am not a fan of it providing combat buffs because the player is far too powerful atm combat-wise
But my whole point is it feels unrewarding to train as a whole, especially for how active it is, which is why the changes to things like daily challenges hit soooo hard for skills like that
have you guys used up your silverhawks and proteans before they go away at the end of the year or waiting for dxp to be finally announced?
I have not, I have a lot and they're very boring
Been trying to work through my combat dummies at the moment
(worth noting silverhawks are not on the list to be removed)
(though they definitely should be)
yea but i doubt you are going to be anymore feathers
they're on the 'content we're examining' list
They're on the maybe list, to clarify
my personal money is on them being discontinued but still usable
How more transparent do you want? They're examining if they're okay with them existing and if not, they'll let us know
Feathers have a number of in game sources currently but they're currently a way to "skip" Agility so they feel iffy
They won't just remove them out of nowhere, you'll know if they're going
just treat all mtx items as they are going to be removed at the end of year and you have no issues
tho tbh in my state of my account i have no reason to keep/use them since im 200m in all skills so im curious to see what they will do with them once the time runs out
would you view no communication until the decision had been made (say, next year) as more transparent?
(I should say I have a vested interest here as I have made a fairly large bet on silverhawks)
at least they gave us plenty of time for those people that have a giant stockpile of them and want to use them but not be rushed (but i doubt people will use them outside of dxp and procrastinate)
another mercher has joined the chat to make profit isee
I call it hedging my happiness - I hate shawks and want them gone but if they remain but less accessible at least I'll have made a ton of money to console myself with
or they change it to untradeable on a monday update you have to decide use or delete them
nothing would make me happier tbh!
then use them already lmao
mainscape acc is for merching only, although I did hit 50 necro, go me
mainscape accounts means there is no limit on what you can do in game lol
then you make off shoot accounts that limit your play like ironman skillers pures and group ironman
Hi I'm Satan27 in game I want to give feedback and credit to everyone at at Jagex because I constantly use runemetrics all year round and on several accounts so I want to thank everyone at Jagex for making it 100% free for members it's going to save me a lot of money thank you everyone 😄
I barely know what a silverhawk is
It's a hawk, but silver
It's an 80's cartoon superhero team member.
i do hope they walk back not removing daily challenges
do we have any more information on the activities that do/don't drop the sack of wild reward stuff?
like they put salamanders, agility course, blood trees, and slayer. but do we know if that's an exhaustive list?
with the caveat of not loggin in yet today to witness the changes actually in the game...
quick question about the reaper changes. Assuming time is not a factor to reach the 300 point limit but i want to do it in as few bosses as i can. Would i be better off turning off the extended tasks since they double the quantity but only 25% more points (assuming that didnt change today - and if it did correct me)
because lets take vindy for example: (again with old numbers i knew to be true before today)
normal = 5-10 kills for 18 pts
extended = 10-20 kills for 22pts
where as...
2x normal tasks = 10-20 for 36 pts
daily challenges are over-rated it's not something I follow personally so I'm not fussed however as I know a lot people like them if it for their concerns I hope it sticks for them 🙂
free hand outs of xp are the opposite of the promises made by jagex
yeah
I'm more pleased at the fact metrics isn't chargeable for members because I constantly use it so I want some "good" to happen to others as well because metrics should never of been chargeable. 🙂
well it kinda is chargeable since they just increased the price of membership for everyone
just instead of like 10% of the community (or whever it was) paying 5.00 a month, 100% of the community paying 1.00 a month
not by much its better to come from 1 payment than several large amounts
If the only reason that they are being kept is because they help new and returning players find something to do rather than suffer choice paralysis, there are better ways to do that than having three randomly-picked tasks (and not a single task more) per day. They used to have one a while back, I believe.
if that was the case, remove the exp reward from it too and see how many people really still do daily tasks to ease choice paralysis. How many people actually stick to the daily task beyond what is required to get the exp handout
Maybe replace the challenge system with a new feature, if someone is wandering aimlessly for more than 5 minutes, a cartoon Abyssal Whip, with googly eyes, pops up and says "It looks like you're trying to find something to do. Would you like help?" 😁
I'm off scaping I hope everyone gets what their after with the runescape redo that's been going on all year round because I know jagex been pleasing me so good luck to you you all and happy scaping 😄
jagex will never be able to balance skilling to a rate that is reasonable with daily challenes in the game. First the exp will have to actively compete with that of dailies just to not be doa. then it will have to be less effort than daily challenges too.
The effort to exp ratio of daily challenges is too high and thus needs to be removed before any meaningful rebalance of skills can happen
Ok so the sandstone mining rate, even at the sophanem spot, feels sooo slow now, i know it was rebalanced to account for the removal of the daily cap, but god is it slow rofl
like why would i ever willingly do dungeoneering (a skill i personally dislike) at 200k a floor for 10mins when i can just do 3x daily challenges for 1m exp a week for 10minutes effort and just spend time doing other stuff i like
sandstone nerf was not worth, it is extremely slow. maybe keep old speed for a certain amount and then have it slow down afterwards
Yea the rate needs to be boosted back up atleast a bit for sure
it doesn't do us any good if you remove the dailyscape but then every thing that used to be daily just takes 10x longer and we still have to do it
but to compete with that it would have to be 6m an hour with minimal effort in my example. thats not gonna happen so dailies will always be better for me
if anything they should have kept the track rewards but removed the exp. so if there's something on there you want, go do the challenges. if not, skip them
or they could have just made it a weekly cap like all the shops and left it all alone
Shame about fish flingers, was a good opportunity to heavily buff xp rates and decrease the time between runs. Now it's just a trim req activity, could've been a fun training method. Lazy.
still devalues the actual skill. being able to not do most the content but still get the rewards from lvling is as bad as having it buyable directly from store
they chose to leave off lamps from store because they wanted ppl to interact with the skill
So, is the dark onyx core just on the wilderness drop table, or?
yeah I didn't expect them to back out of removing daily challenges because it's just pure exp and has no content attached to it
i dont think its on that table at all. seems like its on activities such as salamander catching (and some others) and completing wilderness slayer tasks. so not just generic wildy combat camping
I'm really not pleased with the outright removal of a placed death swiftness. I would've had absolutely no issue with making it a fleeting boots effect (which would be more fitting for the boots). It was an iconic part of the style and one of the main reasons I enjoyed engaging with Ranged over melee and Necro. Part of the issue is you've given us nothing in return to teeth on, you've somehow managed to simplify the style without actually addressing some of the core issues with the styles. This is something that should've been in beta before it went live.
I'll note that FFXIV, the notoriously casual friendly MMO, the MMO known for sanding off as much friction as possible from their jobs, has 1. done multiple rounds of simplification passes through BLM and not only has leylines stayed, it got more tools to engage with it (Between the Lines which teleports you to your leylines, Retrace which lets you move them), and 2. they even added another caster with a leyline mechanic in this era of simplified jobs, PCT.
leylines aren't some gigabrained sweaty minmaxxy optimization for the elite, they're an integral part of the culture at every level of play (look up "FFXIV leylines memes" and you'll get a bounty of results), they're an incredibly intuitive mechanic to understand with a very clear payoff and a very clear restriction. For casual players you can just hit the button and do your best to stay in them and it's still fun. For people pushing their combat optimization it's a further way to engage with fights and plan your rotation and movement around and it forces you to actually pay attention to what's happening and how a fight is timelined/mechanics work. Having just a flat damage buff with no further engagement is just lazy at best and boring at worst.
meanwhile you still have people complaining about ammo usage (unless that got fixed and I missed it), the 99 cape is useless for bows (a cape should be generically useful for all weapons of a combat style)
what you mean the 99 cape useless for bows? its tied to effects of ammo not just bolts, arrows have affects too at high levels such as imbued dino arrows
it affects chance, not magnitude, unless the cape isn't worded properly. All of the 95 arrows are on hit effects, it's useless because there's no chance to increase, the chance is just 100%
ah yea. forgot those effects are static and not chance based. are bolts really the only chance based effects? if so i 100% agree perk isnt as good as it could be
the old deathspores were RNG but the RNG was your crit chance, I'm not sure if the cape gave additional chance on top of that but it's moot since the new arrows are now on hit
demon/dragons are just damage/acc, wens spores splinters and black stones are on hit
on topic of useless perks though. can we look at 120 thieveing. Having it reduce the effect of being caught in heist is bad and lazy design. Its a buff given at 120 thieving and only applies if you are bad at 1 specific training method of thieving.
It should have been something a little broader like having safes (useful in multiple training styles) would "auto-click" when they flash making it more of a QOL perk
Can we have some way to stack 1hr of shooting-star bonus in 1 go without it being too much of an inconvenience for places like gate of elendis. This change really screwed over the gate grind
Alright I do wanna point out something about the removal of the free runes from the Wicked Hood. I've been using it to "skip" bad altars when runecrafting with the runic attuner. (7 skips a day, 25x7)
When the runic attuner sends you to a non profitable altar twice in a row, you could draw runes from the hood and progress to the next altar without hauling to the bank again.
Perhaps one of the Wicked Hood / Elite outfit perks could include something similar?
to finish my last ¶, there's still the fundamental issue that ranged does not adequately prepare people to track hit counts, which is what the style fundamentally is at 95, with wens/spores, and with BOLG. If you want to remove complexity and interaction from positioning and movement then I propose that Death Swiftness should instead be an on hit or bolg-lite effect, perhaps on third or fifth hit.
To draw another parallel to FFXIV, you can look at AST this expansion. People were often picking WHM over it or just opting to double shield and so they sanded off all the rough edges from AST (second lightspeed charge, button consolidation, less APM intensive burst, minor/major static cycle instead of being RNG, extended the duration of the damage buffs), a lot of people who played it after the changes did so because it was so far ahead of WHM in terms of group damage potential and mitigation that it was almost considered griefing to not take it over WHM. In spite of the simplification, WHM still continues to be a playrate abomination because the job knows and all of squares changes to WHM lean in to what people already like about the job without changing the core gameplay. AST is barely above WHM in terms of difficulty now and for most of the expansion was leagues ahead of it in terms of both damage and utility and in spite of that, many people still stuck to WHM (and/or the shieldies). And you see people leaving AST or avoiding the job because it gets changed so much that there's no insurance that if you enjoy that iteration of its gameplay that it'll stick around.
It's incredibly infuriating to put time and effort into learning something and then just have all of that skill and effort and knowledge taken away, which is why I'm so fucking livid about the death swiftness puddle removal.
It's doubly infuriating when you have very obvious solutions that could allow you to please people who want it both ways that you ignore
I'm not joking about leylines being a huge deal in FFXIV either, if you go to the FFXIV main sub and just filter by "leylines":
you get an endless supply of memes and posts about it. It's a huge part of the culture and people are really attached to them, it's a beehive that not even Square is willing to remove in the name of simplification because it's that important to people
Also very happy with the changes to quick teleports using Law runes. Using natural game resources like runes is the perfect solution imo!
I would have preferred like a lower 3 or 4 law rune cost, and the inclusion of elemental runes in the cost personally, but still not terrible over as a replacement
id say 1-2 laws and maybe a pure ess. 5 is too much
Agreed. At 5 laws, why wouldn’t I just use a tele that only costs 1 AND is instant?
Guess you could say, you think its a lode of-
Inventory space
5 is fine, it'll make law runes slightly more desirable, and it's cheaper than it used to be
Oh I’m not complaining about price. And I’m no stranger to running law runes. It just seems odd that they’d settle on 5.
Law runes is the teleport rune, I don't think there's anything odd about it. In fact, I think the replacement is perfect as they placed it
I still think it should include elemental runes though
Though if we were going by the thematic aspect, realistically it should have been time runes, cause, you know, its speeding up the teleport?
As a side note, back to the runespan point changes, those point acquisitions should have been at least 3x, or 4x even, or at the very least the costs of the shop and prestige should have additionally been lowered imo
runespan isnt exactly peak content
maybe a scaling cost lik wicked pouch charges. where it takes lik 10 air for a charge or 1 time tune
The main reason i only say thematically for time runes, is because they arent exactly accessible before certain levels, so it would lock it out for a huge chunk of people
or a tradable runespan reward "unstable time rune"
Why can't we STORE pure essence into the Wicked Hood? Amounts increasing depending how many other outfit pieces we unlocked. I know, it isn't the same as Free Essence, but its usefulness could continue
Part of that problem is all the wicked hoods features were also part of the runecrafting infinity outfit, so that would become kinda janky id assume, doable im sure, but jank nonetheless
Sandstone is absolutely terrible now.
This might even be worse than the original timegate. Why does flask-making glass have to be so arbitrarily difficult to obtain?
I'm sure Jagex has thought of the answer, but the question... What is the point of playing everyday? When I stop playing everyday, what game will I start playing, and then forget about Runescape entirely.
Yes it is. Not sure who is going to mine sandstone, when flasks are 7k, and primal ores are 10k+
This was always my thought. It's an attention marketplace, and that's been why MMOs are the way they are since they first were created. Turns out I didn't lie on the survey when saying I expected to play less
rune pouches already exist
i'm annoyed that i can't completely remove the newly unlocked things from my runemetrics window
like why can't i get rid of the combat stats and drops categories entirely? i don't need them
i just want my three skill rows like before
right click the "header" of the damage and you can remove it
but it just keeps telling me "you can't remove the last column in a group"
then when you get it down to 1 column, right click the icon on left instead and remove row like u do with skills
ahhhhh thank you
Weirdly enough, I think the star change made them both more op and more fomo then before. Since you can now hop and mine unlimited stars per wave. The meta is just doing whatever the highest star is atm, resulting in very high xp and making doing them every 90mins for like 20 mins/half an hour extremely strong.
So i have a major pet peeve with the new reaper system, if we are taking away the previous reroll system and treating them like slayer assignments, can we not please get a block list? I do not like the idea of being assigned nonsense like Solak or Vorago and forced to spend 30 slayer points to attempt to reroll that now, with no way of blocking tasks similar to slayer ones
having a block/prefer list does sound nice
could the wicked hood theoretically be used to store altar teletabs, like the arc and menaphos journals?
Considering the amount of runes that went into vis wax it's justified.
Lol too many cores
Yall botched that. Its basically a comm9n item from the amount people gettin
If you dont want to play game, dont play game. Only sounds like a good thing to me, and everyone else. Most people arnt so fickle that they'll stop playing because they now have the flexibility to play when they want, and not stress about dailies.
Woo! Price drop for the win!
And being t4 and doing jad as a repear nonstop by farming the 3 jads in normal mode zuk is broken. Enjoy the tbousands of slayer points/hr
Reaper tasks need a better reset system. My first two tasks were Zuk and Araxxi and I have 93 defense and 83 herblore.
Sounds like you should give them a try
Yeah, I liked those brief weeks where you got choice of assignment so I could actually engage with them and it wasn't some boss I'd never even heard of, where you go look it up on the wiki and get recommended a whole bunch of gear I've also never even seen
You dont have to carry anything to do it. The charges will just live in your interface. Also, lodestones go to different places than teleport spells. I think 5 is about right. Quick lodestone teles were always a luxury anyway.
not to mention available immediately once you activate it. no skill levels required. just going to it once
to be honest, quick tps are easy to mantain even for irons, with the new shops rework
Curious for those that used runespan points already on esteem etc do we get half our points back?
Does not appear so, nope.
so just logged in game and i gotta wonder why did they add the exhaustion bar back to sandstone?
i dont know why they want to remove wicked hood altar teleports, its literally harmless
I was glad I had a few thousand in the bank because it is onerous just to fill the backpack now. It does make some of the Tess archaeology rewards more worthwhile, though.
I understand the change in the grind for ppl. I don't begrudge the change.
However I have grinded it and unlocked for achievements so it monitored by Jx. I dont think it is unreasonable for half our points to be reimbursed.
Everyone that has grinded away now has to re grind away to get tablets. It would be nice to get a small compensation instead of a constant take from those that have completed content that is now deemed too hard, fomo, or deemed wrong direction now.
Oh fun, i see they completely missed the arc daily chimes cap they said they would address in a previous post
Assuming because its not considered a special mining now. Afk will have its penalties.
I actually find some of these dailies have made what was a quick idk 5min task is now grind.
Honestly looks like the arc as a whole was completely missed, considering like half of its content is daily grinds
such as ?
probably why it was "skipped" on this round of rework
just finish 4 hours of fishing at deep sea, no sight of green map, as i tought the chances still shit
Good to know thanks
It’s funny, I said the same thing about people (like me) who focused on things like permanent items from TH, instead of lamps or stars. Cuz I could always earn xp, but those items were inaccessible any other way. And then I got shouted down when I pointed out that it’s unfair they took a bunch of items away, but didn’t roll back lamp xp.
No longer takes a month to obtain the blessed flask. Now it's just 10 additional hours of mining crystal-flecked and red standstone for no reason. What a terrible design choice.
Like whenever I had the chance (frozen hearts, selecting items for the pool, etc) I always dropped lamps and favored the items.
^
The achievement "Simply Divine" was forgotten to be removed
I'm 100% behind you. I'm not a fan of TH but if they take items there should be compensation of some sort. I'm not saying it has to be gp. They could do it numerous ways.
I'm miffed my disco outfit & zombie outfit is going. It was a lotto card event. Spend so much time completeing those cards. I get the items not the direction Jx wants to go but make them cosmetic.
I find the inconsistency the biggest bug bear.
I hear you. I don't know what the answer is but making ppl feel, idk scammed or robbed I would have thought wasn't the right path. Some sort of recognition, acknowledgement with compensation would definitely help towards lessening the loss.
Lol they didn’t even refund people who paid bonds for certain stuff. Like they’re taking real money from people, with no refunds. They only refunded people who bought auras AFTER the aura killing update was announced.
so what does the "additional tasks" unlock for 150 reaper do now (and subsequent 250 slayer points for a task) with the context that you can now already do unlimited reapers a day
Nothing currently. Would be nice to be able to bank a task reroll, like how clues can bank rerolls.
yea or unlock choice of 2 reapers anytime you get a task akin to slayer
Yes unfortunately they they have chosen to go down an abrasive path.
It would actually be interesting to see a lawsuit play out. It was already ruled that gp is an actual thing that can be stolen.
IIRC, some player sued another player for scamming them, and won because the courts determined that in-game items have real value. So it would be interesting to see how that lawsuit would play out from someone who lost a lot of items in the updates.
Especially when Jag has bonds, which directly tie money to gp
Doubly so when lots of the items being removed were from TH keys, which could be bought with real money
Not an uncommon thought, however,
I believe this post is not allowed. Even if no threat etc no talk of lawsuits, I could be wrong.
No clue tbh. I was just saying it would be interesting to watch from afar. I don’t have the time or money for a lawsuit lmao
fair
So now that Divination's coolest reward space Divine Locations are removed, are there any thoughts or plans on making the skill more than just invention fuel?
its porter fuel too
Hurray! An entire skill that makes porters, invention charges, and transmutes onyxes.
so what happens to the runemetrics website now?
hey now, transmuting onyxs is important work
As a 5,8er, I'm having difficulties finding a reason to play. Many of the things I enjoyed doing, DAILY, have been discontinued or changed dramatically. Not sure if it is quitting time, but that time is closer than ever.
We also seem to have forgotten that Locators (though also not a great reward?) require divine locations as a material lol
WHOAH!!! WHAT THE HELL I I NEED MY DIVINE LOCATIONS BACK IM A HARDCORE IRONMAN
WHERE DO I PROTEST!?!?!? AND MY WICKED HOOD ARE YOU SERIOUS!?!?!?!?
we uhhhhh might want to remove this lol
They should make it to where you can buy reaper task resets with marks of war.
locators need revamping anyway
talking of reaper tasks, i think we need 7-14 weekly free task refreshes
btw, just did a whole extended greenfingers aura at wildy herb patch with instagrowns, didnt gey any wild special drop there
THIS
bring back divine locations!
they were removed because some ppl (i dont know who) feels bad to missed or forced themselves to complete some dailies, personally divine locations i did just a few back on my early game as ironman, but now being a lategame iron i just ignore it and doesnt affect me, in the case of removing free hood rc tps, yeah, that was stupid
Weren't private encounters going to be made free?
They did tell us that, to counter the negative changes. But if you listen to any politician, we know, big difference between what we are promised and what is delivered.
they said that would be "later this year", so some time in the next 9 months I guess
pretty sure that's the only thing missing
I guess with a game this old you can't discount the possibility that removing the cost actually takes time to do and test properly
If we right-click the Runecrafting Cape and click Activate, it still gives us a pop-up telling us what is our personal best type of runes.
I don't understand why these nice changes all have to be "later this year" when it's not even a difficult update to implement. Just like when they announced runemetrics would be free, why not just give it back then?
Hey Khan - would you please report this in-game and/or here?
I can do a bug report

ngl im not even surprised how much fell through the cracks on this one, theyre pushing things to fast, i mentioned it before, but like the entire dailyscape of the arc also was missed
They changed the port shop to stack up to 7 days or resources, but forgot to change ports to not have a daily reroll limit
They got the granny rowana shop in the fort, but missed both the shop in priff and the one in taverly that sell bomb and powerburst vials
I wont deny that a lot of this update was a win, but they missed or skipped alot of stuff, which is why it all feels to rushed
removing free tps is fine
removing all tps is very not good
i only know if they think ppl will do hours of runespan just for some cheap rc altar tps, that aint going to go like they want
A majority of people dont like dailies (we know this from surveys), getting basically free things always makes the original methods worse. Divine locations are very in line with what was being removed. If you need daily low effort gains, you probably dont enjoy the main gameplay all that much.
usually that's a supply/demand problem
speaking of which, when soul altar teletab
Well, it relates to exp and ironman in a poor way too. Its a gameplay problem. If the main activity is bad, that need fixing. People dont need to be boosted daily for existing.
you seem to know a lot about a 25 year old game's codebase, you should work at Jagex
Vindication has been recieved for the weeks I spent chained to the Soul Altar burning wicked hood teleports in order to be ready for when Jagex pulled the rug out like this.
I really wish they would follow up on what they say instead of trying stuff like that :/ It makes me unable to trust them with anything. If you plan to retire grandfathering, be upfront about it. If you plan to remove mtx stuff at a specific time, follow up on the promise that you wont remove things related to them until the time you promised. If you plan to raise membership, do it at a time when there has been content released enough to justify the raising. Like tomorrow. If Jagex had made the announcement at the onset of Havenhythe instead of a week ago, there may have been much less uproar over it :/
One change id like to see. Flask sandstone was not included in methods eligible for the paradox spell because of daily. Now that its not, it should he included in what paradox effects.
i think that ship sail.... today?, no longer a daily anymore, just hard to mine and get, i think ppl was talking about taking 15 min to mine what you could in 3 mins in the past
That was my entire point. Its clearly not a daily now. So allowing paradox to work makes sense. And kind of fixes the nodes on its own
oh my bad, i tought you were talking about the spell that reset some time gated activities, you tested paradox at those and did nothing?, because if is that, they proably should fix it eventually, there is no reason to not work with sandstone
Theres no word of it changing, they would have said so. Safe to assume it doesnt work. But yeah, needs attention. That could be the difference that makes sandstone fine.
to be honest, i think they should make easier to get sandstone but by normal ways, but still, paradox should work on those
that's crazy they removed the weekly challenge. that was the whole reason i keep playing. for the rewards
Well, you were told in advance itd be going :/
Personally i do see the removal of dailyscape fomo being removed as a good thing, i really just wish they would have focused on the rebalancing and reworks of skills, xp rates, and the rewards for them first. Ive said this before elsewhere, but the main reason people felt the need to do these other methods was because the primary way of doing or acquiring them just kinda sucks, even now some of the changes they made to things like the runespan points dont feel like enough, and with the removal of the wicked hood teleports, the reward shop feels even more useless, cause whos gonna really want teletabs when the abyss exists unless they can be functionally stored IN the hood?
they are working on mid- and late-game rebalancing
Yes, but that should have happened FIRST
You dont remove a bandaid before a wound is healed or it can fester
Im not saying some of these changes arent great, cause they are, as a whole it just feels nicer to not have the stress of fomo with a lot of the daily chores, a game shouldnt feel like a second job. But some things didnt go far enough, some were missed, and some shouldnt really have been completely removed, but just reworked
With merchant stock being a weekly cap thing, would it be considered..... broken.. if you could buy items noted from Merchants ala Meat from Oog'log like you can battlestaves from Baba Yaga's shop and Lunet's Battlestaves in Prif?
The changes to reaper tasks also feels bad to me because it tries to make bossing a more advanced slayer, but with it needing points to skip, honestly it should just coopt the whole slayer system and have block/prefer lists like someone else mentioned earlier
Oh, unless im mistaken, also with this update the ability to get deathtouched darts are now functionally removed from the game, not that its a bad thing to remove it, but its gonna cause a few problems for some, like the necromancy amby kill for instance.
Didnt mean that to be a reply rofl
Why did they remove the traveling merchant?
because its bad design
What you mean?
It was a bandaid, a lot of the shop was to sell a way around bad content
instead of playing the game, you go and trade a guy who lets you skip major grinds
Cause they didn't like you, particularly Irons being able to skip content, which said content sucked to begin with, looking at you Livid Farm
Atleast the took livid farm cost down by like 70% to compensate for that one specifically
All I was after was the red uncharted island map
Still costs tremendous amounts of Cosmic/Astral Runes and is insanely slow
go fish it up. you can afk it now in the deep sea hub.
I have other things to do
If you think its bad now, and it was bad before, you should have seen it how it originally was
it was like 860k points originally, it was not fun getting that comp requirement back in the day
I know I have been playing for a long time
I was more directing that at wolx
its still an over all bad minigame, but is leagues better then what it originally was
Its basically nothing but a Comp check mark honestly anyway, the spells are barely worth the time it takes to unlock them even now, let alone before
I see they missed the daily heart bounty limit they said they were addressing as well
lmao, is knowing by all red map chaser community (but no jagex), that chances from direct fishing there are trash for red map (green maps too), 99.9% of red maps came from merchant, i know they suppose to improve chances today (without giving true probabilities/ numbers), but i did the test, 4 hours and not sign of any green map
they buffed the rates so maybe its better now
from 0,000000000000000001 to 0,00000000000000002
for some reason tavia is the only heroic item they never release the true probabilities to get it, idk the reason, but i start to think even they dont know it
You don't need to know coding. You just need common sense
this game was not coded with common sense
Its called spaghetti code for a reason, how else does an update directed at combat somehow make wood boxes invisible, or an update thats supposed to change dailyscape somehow break the memory dowser. Im pretty sure the reason they are remastering DG for instance is cause from what i remember, at one point it was opening admitted they dont really know how the original dg code works, which was why its never really been internally updated before now. I think it was built off of code form an old funorb game? But to be fair, its not like its a jagex exclusive problem either
Could be misremembering the part about them admitting to the dg code thing, but still, isnt like team fortress 2 held together by a png of a coconut? And theres the guilty gear with its reliance on a hidden goku file that like all of their fighters reference for moves. Game code is wierd, and with a game as old as runescape, your bound to bump into some ancient load bearing pillar by mistake, so yea, this isnt all just common sense to be fair rofl
reaper reset 100% needs a change, also the black salamanders farming for wildy table is a complete mess.
black salamanders requiring 67 hunter access the table, and charming moths requiring 88 hunter dont? Makes no sense.
Are there any confirmations from mods regarding a tuzzy threshold?
everything else in the update seems great, daily scape should not be nuts on the game but fr? one divine location a day was actually a real cool feature for low level progression. wicked hood im neutral on, BUT Daily DIV WTF BRUH FIX THIS SHIT!
Worked away in wildy for over 1hr managed to get 2 tp shards ...
1hr in fishing hub = nothing. I would of been happy with a green map.
5min activity v's hours of grinding.... Improvement, I don't think so. Improved my enjoyment of game, that's a 100% negative.
Why has runespan, and livid farm grinds been nerfed and at the same time created grinds in wildy and fishing hub, bewildering 😵💫
Cause you um.... don't need Tavia's Rod?
Agree, but I used those green maps, game change for arc achievements. It's a significant impact.
Never going to get a Tavia.
time to just use chimes > buy supplies > go to islands instead of using the maps 🙂
That's obviously what I'll have to do. So I stand by my comment.
Cutting the grind to livid and runespan but increasing grinds in other areas.
You cant get 6 resource islands without maps last i checked
Yes, you can't get 6 resource islands without maps
But after you get your ideal one you can just plant a flag on it and travel back there at any time so after you claim your first island it's no big deal
I see 6 or so people at the wildy herb patch while I do my slayer tasks, it's kinda funny
im at the lizards rofl, i wanted to post the lizard gif, but it wouldnt let me
Ideal island helps with resources. If you're after salty achievement it requires 302 350 chimes and 384 Taijitu ... it's was a grind with *green maps. It's now even worse :/
Edited add *combination maps & supplies
If I need Taijutu I just do small islands
Just replaced daily scape with afkscape
@sharp ridge Is there any reason you know of why flies didn't get the 7 day shop stock treatment from the pet shop?
They apparently mentioned it on reddit, i dont know how far up the screencap is, but apparently some shops work on the same code, and some have their own unique code. So the ones that didnt share code were missed i guess? Let me see if i can find it
amazing, thank you
Is there a reason why Powerburst and Bomb vials were excluded from the weekly shop?
Also Taverly vial stock?
Yea so, look up 2 comments
Yea I read that, but this also does not address Iron shop runs, particularly Bomb Vials, which we use a lot of whilst bossing.
And as we cannot trade, but still use herblore supplies en masse, it seems really unfair that Bomb Vials were not included in this
Fort one was addressed normally, as stated in the update page in the website
Meilyr and taverley could be oversights
It said that the botanist shop in Fort was included, but when I went there when I logged on the shop still only sold 100 bomb vials
Maybe you already bought it and forgot, it is indeed working
Must have been Meilyr shop I visited, I will swing by Fort and double check
Must have been the Meilyr shop I visited then, my bad
All good! Hopefully you got your stock up now, noone deserves making em via molten glass lol
I think it would be a lot better if they made reaper task resets available through marks of war, also keeping 1 free re-roll would have been nice. Having to do a giant mole task because you don't have/don't want to spend 30 slayer points doesn't feel great. Especially because the amount you get for the task doesn't equal out for the reset.
Seems like the wilderness special event drops are not triggering when harvesting the wildy patch using liquid patch bombs, is that correct?
Seems nerfed by a lot, or turned kff. None from sallies in over 700 catches. Worlds also seem to be emptying of people trying, suggesting similar (or they are all finished grinding it now)
Didn't even get a shard after 200 herb patches this morning before the game patch. Maybe the liquid patch bomb isnt triggering the drops at all or I'm just unlucky.
Seems so, close to 1hour without a reward proc while having 13 procs in the hour before update, unfortunately no core - sad that I only find out about these things if they're already nerfed or on the edge of being nerfed
early bird bonus as always! more Q/A is needed tbh
1h+ and nothing as well
As always. We are the Q/A
Earlybird sucks so much. Its also horrible we dont have confirmation, so you rely on rng to tell you
That's a nice idea, now that the uses for marks are dwindling. The other side of that issue is if you're low-level, an iron, or a GIM and you get a boss you can't reasonably do yet (say Vorago).
Alternate reroll mechanics might include
- Tiered slayer point costs (1 -> 10 -> 20 -> 30, first one is free with the reaper shop upgrade and the rest are 50% cost)
- Similar to old system, but the reward % decrease also affects slayer xp (so 2nd reroll is 75% reaper points and slayer xp to avoid xp abuse)
- At the minimum give us a fresh pick per daily reset, but then you're edging back into DailyScape and might like to avoid that
I suspect they overdid nerfs and bricked them. I guess it goes to show abuse stuff early i suppose
I mean, many were at 5-10 cores yesterday camping that spot. It needed a nerf
Cores went from super rare to here, have free money
It needed someone from the dev or q/a team to test that. Same as it needed someone to just go into bm and oneshot it with a setup op character on a testserver
This way the earlybirds made their money yet again (or their bm pet etc.) while everyone else is left out
Also a great idea!
I have a gim and when I started out doing reapers getting mole was ideal (no antifires yet) so being able to reroll kbd task to get mole or barrows brothers was ideal. Having to do that while costing 30 slayer points would be extremely cost/time inductive
The aspects dropped to like 150m which is neat makes these niche items more obtainable
How does a maintenance affect salamander drops? Or are they doing content updates during maintenance? And what is the hotfix? Are they going to nerf the rates or leave it as it is? Will we get any communication?
And what even are the drop rates for this?
We dont know. The update bugged salamanders. We have no communication outside of that sofar
I mean, a nerf was obviously gunna happen because this is stupid
Ive also heard people doing 6 hours and getting nothing.
I don't see why it needs to be nerfed, it's nice qol to have and it's still rng...some people still haven't gotten any
?? you dont see the image above being an issue?
No? Like I said just because some people are lucky doesn't mean we all are. Cores don't need to be super rare either. The only people who have issues with it are people who hoarded it and are now losing money
Clearly they're too common lol, the item will be worthless if this rate is allowed to continue
Thats literally just rng. I went for 2k sallies and got one, prenerf
It's not a gamebreaking item to make it uber rare either
perhaps not, but it still seems more common than intended
Yeah it's so common people who spent hours on it still don't have one
sounds like you're just unlucky
it took me 21 hours to get my ring of vitur on release, i was just unlucky
That goes both ways? What kind of an argument is this? Sounds like you're just lucky
Exactly my point. It's already rng and it doesn't need to be nerfed
there's no argument, just a discussion
Cores were artificially rare anyway
How many hours total did the cores take previously to acquire? Do you no see the issue here?
rng is law of averages, if the average is too high they'll nerf it, if it's too low they'll buff it, we don't actually know what's up with it(wouldn't it be funny if the droprates were bugged to be individually determined so some people had 1/5 and other people had 1/1m)
Where does the thought process come in for keeping it rare and somewhat expensive? It was expensive before because you had to be playing at one of the 4 hour intervals and also stop what you're doing to go to the garbage event.
Btw. is it normal that mods are more often on their way of looking & commenting into reddit posts than here on their OWN discord?
Do you not see the issue in making it so rare ?
Nope. Why shouldn't it be rare? Abyss and Grace are prey powerful upgrades.
clearly there's something off with the rates, as seen by the photo
its not just the onyx core rate, it seems too common from the salamanders compared to the other methods of obtaining the items
Yeah so funny that I believe my account is not allowed into a hsr roll, maybe because I'm carrying an excalibur with me or whatsoever, wouldn't surprise me
And I don't see an issue in making it common because the upgrades it gave weren't game breaking qol.
Abyss upgrade getting a core would be the easy part even with wildy event rates, 1/6k drop rate on task for abyssal wand and orb and you need both
The only reason dark onyx items were expensive because of how they were obtained previously i see no issue in them being semi easy to obtain on account of requring you to go get mats to make them tradeable ontop
....2,000 porter charges isn't game breaking?
its not alot
So let's kill he drop rates on all the Legendary items as well then.
if the core is too common the item would be worthless, which is silly
500 porter charges is certainly game changing...
I can't argue with stupidity like this
The core is already worthless 🙂 you can only buy and sell the fully constructed upgrades
thank you for the insight
I feel like you guys play a different game than the rest of us sometimes.
People getting multiple cores in a day when it previously took literal months wih zero communication on the inent to change the rate a which they come into the game is kinda crazy.
The goal of the update was to reduce dailyscape; not make a major account upgrade trivial.
I think dark onyx cores were a badly designed item tied to fomo content and them being abundant doesnt do anything but devalue people who got them for far more expensive cool.
they were a badly designed fomo content item; 100% agreed
but like the knight said: The goal of the update was to reduce dailyscape; not make a major account upgrade trivial
And they failed to reduce dailyscape
can you explain why you feel that way? because i think they did a great job by removing the slop events
Daily challenges should be dead in a ditch
"major account upgrade" 2000 charges are nice to have but it's not like it's super hard to charge the gote after 500 charges either. Even an iron can do it
we're talking about the dark onyx core and it being attached to a fomo method of obtaining it, not daily challenges
2000 charges is comfort not major account upgrade, the "major" upgrade is seren spells not using prayer points
if you don't think 2000 charges vs 500 charges is a major account upgrade, i have a bridge to sell you
Dark onyx cores were only worth as much because of them being tied to artificially difficult things
Ironically they made a new fomo method of obtaining it yesterday lol
The prayer is nice... for div and thieving?? Smithing you could argue you can just craft an orthen furnace
there is no fomo about the new method? it's not going anywhere, nor is it limited by any time gate or special event
The fomo is that early bird special drops
i would also like to know if the phoenix pet rate has changed, been doing hours of it and nothing..
You don't see the fomo in them making it really common for a short window of time?
Fomo of using before nerf. I have two bridges to sell to you if you didn't understood that
People are acting as if farming is an hourly lmao its literally the entire reality of farming in general in game and out you plant seeds and wait. Crazy
It really isn't when charging is extremely easy
so about that bridge i have
Having 2k is pretty big. But the prayer is more important. Free prayers good
I say really common but I did 2 hours and didnt get one lol
Bro rolling back after getting shutted down by multiple
The drop seemed like 1/1k black sallies. Seemed like
i dont think you know what the difference between fomo and early bird bonuses are so i am just moving on lol
I agree that it was most likely something like this
There isnt a difference. Both cant be true. We feel fomo because we missed out on the earlybird special, because bot awake, work ect
early bird bonus is just a phrase people use to justify abusing content lol
I forced myself to do 2hours of sallies because i found that out and saw the "update in 1 hour" and had fomo - and you're here telling it's no fomo?
You did not have to do that, you chose to
Like dailies?
People also did not have to do Wilderness flash events???????
You know what atp tie dark onyx cores to demonic skull there now you have to deal with people killing you now too
Looks like they just implemented the hotfix. Got my first drop in almost 2 hours.
you don't have to do dailies either, hard to believe i know
And yet here we are in a thread about removing dailies
well now you especially don't have to do them because they are removed now
This guy spins himself around in each sentence, you would make a great politican holy
"i dont like that someone thinks differently than i do"
You're here trying to tell me that I didn't had fomo while I had fomo what do you even mean about not accepting others opinions
Is this gaslighting? Lol
Any update on rates? Nerfed? Untouched?
Yeah, fomo is clearly the correct term. And i guess they are up again, but hard to tell if they are reliable enough to trust they got one.
there was no reason to have fomo, i still don't understand why you did that
might be gaslighting ngl'
Maybe consider thinking about what you wrote couple minutes ago
Sounds like you dont know what fomo is. Its a feeling of missing out. We missed out on getting those drops. We feel fomo.
¯_(ツ)_/¯
This guy is either a professional gaslighter, or a professional ragebaiter. Whatever you are, leave me be
No clue
I hope the jmods clarify if they changed droprates or not
They almost certainly did. Too many people were hopping asking about rates, all around the same time
I guess early birds get the worm. So much for the integrity roadmap
Really is crazy how lucky that is lol
Too bad for the rngless, bit many were getting multiple cores really fast
Shouldnt have been nerfed. Let them drop to sub 100m
Yeah I did 2 hours with no cores
I am saying it once again. Remove daily challenges
106k dailes is a joke .... so sad...
It feels like it got nerfed into the ground. Doesn't feel worth doing anymore.
Well rip.
"balanced" #social-feed message
They should add more activities to it though, like catching charm moths, pickpocketing rogues even if it will be lower chances as it might be more afk.
safes in wildy, wizard arena etc. - there's a lot more content in there
So much for transparency lol
good!
should it drop every 2 hours....?
I didn't say it should but when people are getting 3 within 3 mins it does feel like I may have been unlucky lol
I like the point of dailies helping new players figure out what to do next, but the challenges themselves only last like a minute or two. Max should be used as an npc who gives out random tasks that are more meaningful that teach you about the game. It should only give bonus xp, or he can have a small shop where he sells basic supplies from his years of hoarding everything as a max npc
If you think 106k is too much, feel free to try F2P daily challenges which carry a 25% xp nerf.
Dailys need to be completely removed not reworked. Keeping them at all goes against the entire reason for the daily scape removal
I read through all the changes and do like them for the most part. In the same way other things were changed. You could modify the daily challenges to be unlimited, but with some modifications:
- The experience bonus could be decreased, either to a flat smaller amount, or decreased more and more after each challenge completion.
- The challenges could become harder and harder for each on that is completed.
- There could be achievements added that give titles or one time bonuses or both for doing 100, 1000, 10000 challenges.
now that you mention it, it is weird that they weren't changed to bonus xp
i want them removed entirely, but that doesn't mean we can't talk about the veracity of half-measures
ideally the game should have zero dailies, i'm more open to weeklies and there's plenty of systems that were changed from daily to weekly in the update, challenges could easily be one of those
Or simply, just not do them
If you delete daily challenges in your mind, Jagex doesnt have to do it for you :P
why not
Dailies exist in all MMOs, why is Runescape any different?
Because Runescape is differently built :P
Still an MMO, so moot point
Still Runescape, so moot point :P
That dosen't remove the temptation and reliance for new players.
"Just don't do em" is not a valid argument for keeping them
You know what lets keep them but remove all xp bonuses from them
I like daily challs, it gives me a starting point for when I wake up each day
this poor argument gets thrown around in so many games, simply not engaging with the overpowered stuff if you don't like it
fact of the matter is we shouldn't have to restrain ourselves to, players naturally want every edge they can get, but we have to realise when those edges are detrimental to the game
Nah, I get what yer gettin at, but how others go about their business shouldnt really affect your playstyle. This makes me wonder if Jagex decided in order to make a bright new future they have to discard everything about the past under Mod Pips steering. Which, truth be told, despite me hating the guys guts and being glad hes gone, doesnt mean everything he did did not have its place in good marketing.
this is good to say, because it means jagex should explore things that appeals to routine without ruining the game like dailies do
It's all a question of morality.
If you think they are busted, don't do them.
If you don't care, do them.
But don't deprive others of the ability to do them if you cannot resist temptation
I think removing unhealthy elements of the game is a net positive
look at the farming skill for example, you could start your day with a farming run
Thats like saying, if you didnt like TH, dont use it. Even tho it was busted. Not a good argumement
At least its only 140k xp a day in dailies for me now instead of 280k
@formal badger Some did, they rolled Iron or just didn't use daily keys, I did a lot on my old mainscape account
By that logic then when are Penguins going to be removed?
You can skip content by doing penguins weekly.
Dont tempt them, they might actually remove them. Theyll go the way of Spenechev. I mean anythings on the table at this point. They did that nerf to salamanders that I said was incoming while i was snoozing i see :P
i would be down for penguin removal, but they do have a positive in that they foster a community dedicated to them
there's no daily challenges community
Penguins are cool. Tied to quests. Tied to community tracking. Daily challenges are like 700k+ xp a week
I mean, the actual positive of Penguins is getting reminded of the funny questline
So did Deep Sea Fishing Hub, and look what happened in there
Used yo be 2m for me pre update
same with nemi
They removed a single event? No
I think I'd rather see a change to the reward space for Penguin Points than outright removal if it was decided to be too much XP weekly
people only did deep sea events for merch pretty much though
I think if theyre playing with reward tables Id rather see them revamp minigames, starting with removal of thaler :P
anyway bare minimum, all these things should give bonus xp instead of raw xp
generic XP is kinda a lame reward anyway tbh, it's generic.
People got angry that the merchant was removed and went on a rampage in the DSF discord
It's not a question of morality.
It's a question of game health and ballence. They are bad for the game even if you think they arent
its really as simple as, if you're not training the skill, you shouldn't get xp in the skill
quests are the sole exception
Anything that allows you to skip content could be considered bad, but in that case maybe the reason why people want to skip it should be addressed rather than removing content that skips it
Okay and let them blow off steam its for the health of the game
anything and everything else needs to be bonus xp at worst and removed at best
Thats what they are doing. Issues are being addressed
Crazy, How is me getting from 99-115 dung through dailies bad for the game?
Its not like i skipped most of the skill.
Oh jk i did
think about all the daemonheim we could have done together for those levels
Dung I can understand. It's in a horrid spot right now.
That will hopefully be fixed with the remaster
you took yourself off the teamforming market
By reducing the amount of points needed to unlock spells and stuff in Livid Farm but not addressing the fact that the minigame itself sucks and that Cosmic Runes and Astral Runes do not grow on trees, and rune shop runs cost money, which can get expensive if you do them regularly enough
dailies skipping the dung grind also creates apathy towards improving it
why would anybody care if daemonheim rots if they can just skip the whole thing with dailies
Prob didnt have time, there was a lot to do in a short time frame.
Rc your own astrals lol. And why u need so many cosmics
this applies to every skill though, but far more pronounced with dungeoneering
if you don't like a skill to the point that you're training it exclusively through dailies, maybe talk about what would make the skill tolerable for you
perhaps even fun for you
Delete it
Because I have to craft regular combat runes now instead due to spells having the chance of being consumed even with abilities, and that's not even considering ancient magics, buff spells and Lunar spells without even starting to think about Livid Farm
Id rather do agility than dung
not helpful
I think they should delete all skills but mining and rename the game dwarfscape 3
Oh it's still absolutely bad. Dung needs to be addressed so there's no reason to want to skip it with dailys.
Shop runs. 35k elemental runes a week
So basically, don't boss for a week while I let my runes recuperate
can always make some if you need more
no different than making arrows for ranged
you're right, its not something you had to do before, but i'd flip that on its head and say, its something you should have had to do all along
Think its like 50k elemental
I got 45k and skipped a couple shops like ape atoll
It's way different from ranged arrows, you can't buy ammo above t50 while rune costs scale with quantity rather than quality, so you can in fact buy max-tier magic spell "ammo".
I'd be okay with ammo upkeep if crafting god arrows didn't take forever
I got 35k of each type. I'd have to double check next week tho
Might have missed ali shop, smallet shops like betty in port sarim, or anacronia, void knoght post
Ranged is in a... weird spot. Arrows need monster materials past 70 fletch
Definitely got those shops. Only one I know I didn't get was ape Atoll
What someone got from all shops
Thas a good chunk
Is it weekly reset or just accumulates up to 7 days ?
are they an iron? Aren't you not suposed to be buying some of those runes?
Like which? And yes
Were irons
I dont do the make money thing.
no no I know, which is why I asked, was just wondering
I don't do it for money either, I just do it to save money over the ge
Tbh idk if i need 300k mind runes but ill buy them just cuz
This was the same argument made for th. "If you don't like it, don't engage with it" and we saw how it ruined the game.
TH is on a whole different scale than daily challenges.
The argument premise is the same. They are both detrimental, just in different ways
I don't see the detrimental part of it. I've been getting about 76k xp per day from it, and that's only once I've gotten 99 in all skills.
Accumulates over time not just a hard restock
Also daily challs are no longer 'OP' as they can no longer be rerolled or extended
Id say 100k for 5 minutes of work is OP. Thats alot for certain skills
Provided you are already maxed when earning xp is moot, and when you think about it, from about 106 onwards, 100k xp is actually pretty pathetic
Irons enjoy having large stockpiles of things, as futureproofing. As gp is useless, its almost always worth doing.
Not for the amount of effort put in but alright. The fact they went back on there promise is bad
Many people would kill to get 100k xp in 5 minutes at those levels.
Which people worried about that kind of xp at those kind of levels already do
theres a good list of skills that don't
Then fix the skills?
Its mostly an integrity thing. Its still disproportionate exp for time, even if you think its not that relevant

100k is a lot, that's 5 anachronia laps (~30 minutes gameplay skipped every day)
- this xp is basically free. For most skills that do have those xp rates you actually have a cost to them
Integrity means different things to a lot of different people.
Would you deprive newer players some easy xp per day just because you don't like the prospect of earning some easy xp for some easy tasks to do daily?
Yes. I'd like them to actually have to play the game to progress
Ladder pulling.
New players dont need that exp. They need to enjoy the game. Getting exp shouldnt mean enjoyment
Ughhh I don't dare to buy dark facet stuff now.. or it goes up because of the nerf or it goes down if jagex gonna slightly boost again -.-
They still have to
Could you imagine having to level up every single skill entirely through dailies?
And before you get 99 in a skill barring combat related skills you cannot turn them off.
And now you can't reroll or extend them so you don't get to choose where that xp goes or increase the xp gained from them
If big exp numbers = enjoyment and thats it, you burn extremely easily the second the dopamine doesnt hit. The skills just need adjusting, which is happening.
The xp you get is also scaled by your level, so new players really don't have big xp drops.
I did no dailies (when i could avoid it) in my iron journey, and it was great. Cept for agility and dg. Still didnt use dailies on them
Right, because leveling Agility, Dungeoneering, Herblore pre 91, summoning when you have no gold and crafting is such a blast
Anyway that the pet shop in taverly to be added to the weekly reset shops? The flies are one of the best ways to get food for pof on an ironman
Herblore is solved by quests. Agility sucks and needs a rework. Dg needs a rework. None need skipping. Quests kinda allowing you to skip 1 skill is fine.
Can literally chose your daily at max lvl
If max lvl can choose their daily, how is that a new player problem?
Which at that point no longer matters, because the xp is so small that it barely makes a dent in any skill you are undoubtedly using triple challs on at that level
Its a problem the whole way up really. its about them existing at all. The exp is always disproportionately large for the time/investment.
Daily challenges should have been deleted or reworked to provide no xp
Idk, getting 99-115 through dailies alone made a pretty big dent
Not anymore that xp ain't
And back then you also needed to spend a fortune daily on runes to make Vis Wax
If you want them for providing direction remove the xp incentive
@formal badger
That is a you thing, not a low level player or a high level player problem
@rigid pecan
That is a personal feeling for me, I do not speak for others regarding how I feel about dailies
A fotune lol dang didnt cost much
Does as a fresh Iron
You acting like im the only one getting that much xp, many do this. Ill abuse dailies until they are gone because its just too good. I agree they should be yeeted from the game tho
If you agree they are too strong and abuse them anyway that speaks a lot about you.
And you only care about them being removed now because you already abused the system as far as you needed to.
Like the people who advocated removal of Flash Events having already gotten the cores they wanted
that is unfair to put on people for doing content that is in the game
Game models dont give a fig about morality.
Been playing the game 10 months near max havent touched challenges think they are grossly overpowered and need to be snapped
the devs have made the decision to keep daily challenges. so there is nothing wrong with players doing them
Of course not, that is a choice for you to make, and no one else should be able to tell you otherwise
The fact they went back on removing daily challenges is spitting in the face of "integrity"
I think from what they did with grandfathered rates, integrity has already flown out the window. That could have been handled much better, timing wise and transparency wise. They should have waited until Havenhythe and they should have mentioned the need to depreciate grandfathering in the future, if that was their intended goal.
Integrity nothing.
Removing things people don't want removed is shooting yourself in the foot as a business
Hence the uproar when Wilderness PVP was removed, added back again and then removed again
Im pretty the vocal minority was loudly opposed to daily challenges being removed because wah my free xp
The amount of support for asking for the removal speaks volumes
I could care less about the free xp at this point, its the fact that they mentioned theyd do something and havent followed through. Wicked hoods for example. They said MTX would go away at the end of the year. Wicked hood was on that list. Lo and behold I see its been defirbrilated early. As a result, what they said about the rest of the items cant be trusted, and I has to systematically burn everything I could touch that I thought theyd touch. Thats not fun. Thats frustrating.
That is not for you to decide whether they are a majority or not.
And what of the people who do not use the discord or the reddit forums?
Or the people that do not care either way and will just accept what Jagex decides?
Highkey think wicked hood should have its teleports integrated into runespan rather then the teletab solution
The point Im making is if they try to pull the rug on people who have been playing loyally and even went more expensive, only to get gutted and thrown under the bus when its time to increase membership prices, then they are not operating in good faith.
If they wanted to use integrity, they would have told us at an oppurtune time, like say when a ton of content is coming out next week, that this is going to happen, be ready for it. Btw, we plan to retire grandfathering. It would have generated much less bad PR.
Agreed
Nexon has been operating in far better faith then jagex as far as game health in maplestory and thats crazy to me, im a maplestory expat
Haven't heard Nexon in a very long time
How does this impact GOTE which is an alchemical onyx?
release updated drop rates of the activities that drop dark onyx core. thanks.
I'm not OP nor am I familiar with "ironman skillers", but my guess is that it was the easiest way for them to get any onyx at all
Though there is also the Water Filtration System which, while very chance-based, is still a way to get the odd onyx over time without combat requirements
What about the scarabs daily?
There wouldent be any non combat source of onyx that are only accsessable through reapers.
I think they are confusing it with alchem hydrix
That's my thought as well, confusing it with hydrix.
there are enough skilling ways to get an onyx
Oh, you're right. I was gonna say how croe is a non-combat source but then I realised you don't need to be on a reaper task for that
Sorry, brain fog, thank you for correcting me!
Brooch i can definitly see being impossible without croesus reapers.
Not grace tho.
Im curious... would co-op slayer tasks give a better core rate since you're completing tasks faster?
are they dropped on task completion or chance per kill?
task completion
Task completion
then yeah co op would probably be faster, only marginally though.
early bird bonus, better get on it asap before they nerf it tmr
I think with yak hides and meat you might need to claim more than once a week since the cap fills up again before the week is up.
I claimed yesterday and I've gotten around 300 raw beef already
but the cap is 1050
so twice a week to be safe
i wouldnt call it "a bit" slow, i bet primal ores are even more faster than those
Im still confident that paradox would be an important difference, but they need to be easier without as well.
The MTX was the biggest offender of fast and free xp and the reson so many ppl were able to level so fast. The Challenge system as it is now is not something to wine about. They removed the biggest offender when TH was removed. Dailies do not discourage new players unlike the mtx. The combat and UI are the difference in player growth when you compare rs3 to osrs not dailies. Challenges will not break the game so just stop it. I'd like to see them to be Level based and actually made to be true challenges (longer and level specific) that reward accordingly not just a 5 minute and your done. They don't have to be daily they can be weekly or stack. There is so much to do in this game sometimes it's nice to have a direction.
Crazy how you said dailies right now aren't a problem at all, then suggested changing them entirely into something that is neither daily nor as overpowered as they currently are
I also feel like we could do better at helping people make goals than converting daily challenges into something for it
How exactly is the current iteration of daily challenges over powered? It would take you over 2 years to fully train a skill if you were to use exclusively daily challenges, and in their current iteration you cant even reroll them
Free exp is always op in some way if its worth getting. Its either op or irrelevant, and in both cases it should be removed.
crazy how that's the bar it has to meet for you to think it's overpowered
2 years or 8 hours?
so get rid of pengs, all quest rewards, tears of guthix, stealing creation, any number of minigame rewards or content?
Sure, im game for that.
Just go play osrs at this point
Like, theres an argument that quest rewards can stay, with some nerfs.
And osrs is a different game, which isnt about taking longer. Different gameolay
Sorry but I have a 7 jobs and 37 kids, I NEED dailies or else I can never ever play
Ive also 'finished' osrs content.
Its not a need, its more of a "why do you care"
And i dont even think they need to exist, but these elitist arguments about why the need to go are helping no one
Well I'm saying don't have a cow over them that are not that bad. I read a whole five paragraph rant on a video over it referring to the health of the game and telling Jagex not to listen to "those ppl " and telling people they need to quit if they don't like it Like it's their whole life, (prob is) over them not removing them. I gave a suggestion to make it more acceptable to some ppl but I'm fine with how it is now. Nothing wrong with making it better.
Why is it elitist just because you want them in, and others dont? Its about making the game better as a whole, which means.. in that world, you shouldnt need to get random extra exp to skip portions of skills.
If you need 'free' daily boosts to enjoy the game, the game is failing at something, and should be fixed
I have no objection to daily challenges if they get rid of the xp too but the system and the sparkles you get for completing them remain so they're rewarding a fair amount
I want the reason they exist fixed first, i dont want them in
if daily challanges were bxp instead tho that could work maybe
People use daily challenges are other forms of exp like that usually as a mean of skipping completely unrewarding grinds, agility as the prime example, the skill sucks at its core
And yea i see nothing wrong with them becoming bxp personally, but honestly they shouldnt be needed to cover for certain skills being just bland an unrewarding
Maybe, but that seems like a bandaid at most. Its accepting theres a problem, then instead of fixing it, you make it slightly less bad
I think they should go too tbh
As a 20+ year player I've seen a lot of change in this game and it's still here. The biggest and worst thing for the game is the Toxicity between the player base not just osrs vs rs3 but rs3 vs rs3. Jagex uses terms like "long term health of the game" and some players run with it and claim they care more than those that disagree with them. I'm not sure why Jagex encourages it. Raising the price of the game is far worse for the game than the challenges.
I like the bxp idea
Why make claims and out words in peoples mouths? Noone is saying others dont care about the game. Why pretend that people disagreeing with you means we're bad?
bending the knee and keeping daily challenges is a sign this game will not be changing for the better because they have refused to rip the bandaid off fully
They did try to remove it in the past. it did not go well
It was mostly the timing. They werent trying to remove dailies. They were trying to pack it in to a battlepass that was cancer
Is it the daily part that is so bad or the xp part becuase theses things can be changed
Its both, imo.
So make them longer level based and bxp reward like Skiller slayer
I'd be fine with daily challenges existing as giving direction for a player. but it doesnt provide xp or rewards of any kind
btw, somebody knows how many rc tablets tps someone can farm 1 in hour of runespan?, i want to laugh
like 2?
But what problem is this trying to solve?
Compromising
They need to make the loop of the certain skills more rewarding, give people a reason to want to train it outside of being an arbitrary quest requirement or something
Why is a compromise needed? Whats the whole mechanic needed for?
If its just to appease people, thats not a particularly good reason.
As a side note, i see the early bird bonus struck again with the onyx cores at lizards
im enjoying my upgraded gote
they must have nerfed it very hard, cuz i didn't even get a obelisk shard in 3 hours of salamanders
Oh i already got 2 cores prior, and then got my 3rd from the lizards last night, but its just funny how everyone knew it would be nerfed into the ground cause the rates were completely borked
i honestly thought those rates were acceptable to make up for how insanely rare they were previously. those upgrades are not worth 400m+
Its mostly large QoL
Why is appeasing people not a particularly good reason? Why do you think it's so bad to let people keep something they enjoy. I enjoy the challenges and I'd like them to be longer. What is so wrong about that?
The problem is mostly that people are only 'enjoying' it because it lets them skip something they consider bad. Its not enjoyment, its relief
Yea they acknowledged that after the nerf was heavy handed as well from my understanding, so theyre back to trying to find a middle ground
Those skills need fixing, which takes time. But we have crap loads of other stuff to help those still, dailies arnt really needed
lol it doen't let me skip a thing I'm over 100 level on everything
so you just want a free like 30-40k or more in a given skill, got it
I skipped 99-115 dung through dailies only. So ya, it does let you skip shit
Sure, then why does exp number go up matter?
No I said they can make it longer and level based with bxp as reward and not daily
Someone already mathed it out on reddit. If you wanted to skip a skill, it would take your something like 560?ish days of purely only doing daily challenges in that one skill to get it to 99? Let me see if i can find the post, cause my math may be off
But why at all?
Wouldnt matter pre-99 cuz u cant choose daily
It would be harder now and they can change it
Thats kinda part of the point
https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/1rvrcy2/youd_need_42682_daily_challenges_to_skip_runescape/
We're not talking completely skipping a skill though. Noone is saying that. You're skipping portions of the grind.
Yo, that's not a bad idea. Instead of direct XP, have the dailies give bonus xp instead. That way they can't skip stuff and still have to go train the skill.
Why sould everything be a grind
Jot aura let me skip the skill pre-99
this game is a grind based mmo..... what
Thats the definition of rs lol
Thats the game. Rs is a grind game
Yea but that grind should feel rewarding to be fair
It does, mostly.
And in most cases, personally, it does, like i cannot tell you how rewarding grinding to get, then use the runic attuner felt
So you did it and got yours and now you don't want others to be able to do the same?
No its admitting its a flaw with the games design as it defeats the purpose of playing the game
Auras and daily challenges need to go bye bye. Ill abuse them if we got them, but they def gotta go
Is it all about the HS race?
Hs is dead anyways. Has been for ages
Hs means nothing cuz of th
I mean personally, i cant even remember to use the JoT aura, that thing is annoying to me
