#Road to Restoration - Dailyscape Overhaul

Anachronia may as well be the RS3 version of OSRS's Fossil Island
I don't think both can be compared, anachronia is much larger and has much more to do then OSRS fossil island
I mean, they're in very similar locations on the RS map
Both are reached from the Dig Site ship
You have to build the bank chest at where you land
yea but i think its a bit disrespectful to anachronia
True. And Havenhythe is taking the birdhouses from FI
As someone who neglects Hunter more than any other skill, I've always struggled to find myself needing to train it
it's good that both games look at each other for inspiration
and OSRS has a lot of things for going for them like zeah & sailing (exploration)
but anachronia > fossil island
OSRS has the Catalytic talisman and the three combo battlestaves that RS3 doesn't
I think it's probably actually a similar amount to do if you include the underwater area
BGH, agility & the slayer monsters blow it out of the water imo
crabs, bird houses, herbiboar, ancient zygomites, sullusceps, deranged archaeologist, fossils, hardwood tree growth, 3 types of wyvern, mining spots, volcanic ash, volcanic mine, seaweed farming, drift net fishing, that thieving/agility method
there are more thing sto do in rs3 version of burthorpe then osrs but the osrs burthorpe is better for instance, more to do isn't always better
none of it's as good as anagility or BGH though IMO
raksha, orthen dig site as well
herby werby
lots of random stuff to do that is a one time thing to do and some high skilling locations
couple of quests also
and effigy incubator but i don't like that as much
& dino farm
I have a few effigies, though I significantly lack the quests required to do it
Fossil island was basically specifically catered at irons
Completing fossils also gives like what, 150k xp in lamps that irons use to skip herblore
and then Legends Quest was buffed 120k xp which also gets pumped into herb
I think it's really smart to put skips into quests and RS3 probably could look into upping EXP rewards across the board while reinstating chronological quest progression
there are already soem crazy rewards out there tho
in certain high end quests
like while guthix sleeps can be very useful to help you unlock priff or invention
the key thing is high end
if you actually go through the quests as a fresh account a lot of them give like 250 xp, 1k xp etc while taking a long time to complete
and before they would at least give a couple keys
quests are a good place to distribute some XP because you can control how much "free xp" gets distributed while still giving players some agency in choosing which early skills they don't want to train as much
Question on Maw's removal, Enhancers will be no more, are there any plans to rebalance the content enhancers are used for ?
at least some of it yeh
yea but some of those have rewards tho or deeper down the line like stolen hearts, 250 xp, not so much but once you've completed jack of spades... access to menaphos.
Thats a very good question. I would love to know a clear answer as well.
I'm so over the gut now fix later. *With no fixed timeline. Fix it, and then remove.
Does that include urn enhancer from Nomad's Elegy?
Or is this just the enhancers pertaining to Maw
to maw
I only have 76 Dungeoneering, so I'm not missing out on much
I think it’s more along the lines of the enhancers from maw and deep sea merchant that allow you to speed through content. The urn enhancer is using invention as intended to benefit other parts of the game
Two sources of unstable air runes will be cut entirely.
Uhm, speed through content .... They improve areas yes, but speed up maybe going a tad too far.
I should clarify, they do come from Motherload Maw. But they also come from the crystal chest in Iowerth or pickpocketing prif elves in the form of motherload shards.
I don't think enhancers are fundamentally different from bonus XP. You still have to spend at least some effort to complete content.
Definitely agree! Better than other merchant rewards that let you skip things completely
Tbh I wish they copied more off Varlamore. Rs3 really really needs a Varlamore. Or re-work to Menaphos to make it a better location for training more skills 60+. Very sad such a great area has not gotten further development.
I've suggested this before, but Jagex could turn the merchant items that directly award currency to something that gives "bonus" currency instead. For example, the Gift for the Reaper could be updated to act as an enhancer with 20 charges, and each reaper point you earn organically would consume a charge to give you an extra point.
To use your example of the gift of reaper, it seems a little surface level to me, but I agree that it’d be an improvement to the current state (I say as I greedily horde reaper points whenever they’re in the store). I think the real foundational improvement—which is what I think they want to do long-term—would be to reevaluate the costs of whatever you’re using the reaper points to purchase or the speed at which you earn them. That way you don’t need to limit gameplay to when you have those enhancers to earn points at a “more accurate” speed (or however you want to call it)
It's a bit weird that they are adding birdhouses but giga nerfing beehives
wish we had both. osrs's thing is birdhouses but i like the idea of beehives just as much.
oh man the wicked hood, no more teleports? and no more daily runes? ugh.... so many things being taken away... 🙁
I think this is a potential way to do it. But in a way its still allowing some level of content disengagement. You just have to give half the time to it instead of full time.
I kind of think the philosophy of extra xp or currency from a source other than the specific content its linked with is flawed in that it admits that content is not worth giving full time to.
When you think about it, if they had, in the past put as much time into fixing content to be more fun and engaging as they did creating bandaid the game wouldn't need a road to restoration at all.
Creating a reward to skip a less engaging piece of content for a piece of content you don't really have to engage with at all (merchant as an example) is really creating loops of nothing in the game.
And giving rewards for you BEST content (bossing, reaper, etc) from activities of no engagement (merchant) is really bizarre to me. Why give a mechanism to skip the best stuff? To get people done with the game faster? For a subscription game why help people get done faster. 🤷♂️
The removal of daily essence withdrawals really stings for me
Especially since I'm not quite to the omni-talisman yet
Having it in the hood lets you withdraw pure essence
for the wicked hood to be powerful, you need a soul talisman which for ironmen can be kind of an issue due to either needing shifting tombs (1/200 drop iirc), 107 slayer or 106 thieving. If you cannot give the hood all the talismans it won't enable you to withdraw pure essence, but only regular essence.
This is a grind that will disappear now with the wicked hood nerf.
Not sure if anyone has raised this point yet, but it would be nice if Priest in Peril could be changed to require maybe 20 rune (or pure) essence instead of 50, if the essence is going to be removed from the Wicked Hood.
... or just take a few strolls to the bank?
That adds literally nothing to the quest.
If you read the quest guide, it says 50 rune or 25 pure, so for you memers, you can just bring the pure with you normally.
It's F2P (or members without 30 mining) that would need to make 2 trips. Oh no, a quest requires you to take trips for items?!
It's funny how some people insist on disagreeing just for the sake of disagreeing.
This is obviously a good change. The game is meant to be fun, this is a F2P quest, no reason not to allow new players to complete it in one trip.
I'd change the Myreque quest reconstructing the town to require fewer items too, but given Wicked Hood changes are apparently coming, it's at least a good moment to raise Priest in Peril.
New players who this is relevant to probably won't even have found the Discord or this chat, so it's nice you're giving them a voice, props to you.
As someone who finally achieved their goal of being able to reach the mother lode maw a month ago after years of it being the main account goal, removing it altogether feels devastating. Perhaps it could be reworked instead?
In what ways would you like it to be reworked?
I personally wasn’t that interested in the reward enhancers so wouldn’t remind them being removed, but I think still helping with some progression-related unlocks like the potion recipes is cool. They could have some more standard treasure-type rewards to replace removed rewards. In terms of the daily access aspect it could be either changed from daily to less often, or (I’d prefer, particularly with challenges being removed too) something like a threshold of dungeons/shifting tombs completed allowing one ‘reach’ into the maw. It could be a combination of both (like for tears of Guthix) if the rewards are still too good to be unlimited, or the rewards could be realigned so that 115dung players getting a loot roll every N dungeons is acceptable.
That's a cool idea, completing maybe a couple of EDs could also earn you a pull.
nah, the myreque quest is fine, it's suppose to feel like a miserable town, and the trips help back and forth making it feel that way.
priest in peril on the other hand sure, the essence adds nothing.
I'd settle for just Priest in Peril being changed for now, I know from talking with my wife that you should never ask for too much at once...
That's something they have done for years tho. Nerf content before releasing new content to refresh that dopamine/give incentive for new content
no I just mean if we are going to have a serious discussion about dailyscape
they are replacing dailyscape for farming, a skill that inherently more timegated, and putting it in hunter, a skill that should not be timegated
it's one of the criticisms of birdhouses in OSRS as well
it's also too strong and people just didn't train hunter
rip low level hunter economy
birdhouses in osrs basically skip everything until rumours which were added with varlamore (which is basically hunter slayer)
and before some people would just do it to 99
They're not really replacing any farming dailyscape? They are just rebalancing how great beehives were
beehives were good? Always found them to be kinda trash xp
You probably also haven't been level 17 farming in a long time
amazing early on, easily until the mid-50s
Huh I make a new pure every week
1-80 farming is just make 20-30m off afk mining then buy unchecked dragons
Don't you need 92 to even start using dragons or does checking the unchecked eggs give all that xp?
u can just have someone else check them
u can also sit in w2 and buy any misc animal to chuck at beans
10/10 would not touch beehives with a 10 foot pole at any level
Still don't understand how you're getting around the 92 level req of dragons but if it works for you that's great
99% of the rest of players have used beehives because of how good they are to get through the early farming grind
I just made a new iron
Iron was the first place I used beehives & thats when I decided ill never touch them again because I found it borderline useless xp tbh
spending a minute filling them all and coming back a day later to go from 17-35 farming is useless 🤷♂️
beehives is the most OP thing in the game relative to their level
basically make 1-50 farming an absolute joke
Yea idk about the birdhouses, i think one timegated skill is more than enough
my (hopeful) assumption with bird houses is that they're more to address the complete lack of good options for birds nests coming from skilling rather than being bis hunter xp
OSRS devs have been outspoken about their distaste for the strength of birdhouses on a few occasions
Adding beehives to the list of things I didn't know was a viable option. I've only used them maybe <10 times and never even noticed they give xp. 117 levels later.....
Some interesting Aura thoughts from JMods
Interesting insight
@distant breach ^ to the extent it’s helpful based on your question in the other thread. There has been some unofficial mod chatter about auras.
As I said in the other thread, some of us NEED auras, because we can't react as quickly as most can for clicking food etc. so auras like vampyrism make up for that. Blanket removal will unfairly impact that
Yeah, definitely hear you (and I’m one of those players who rely heavily on them 😩). Don’t want to take over this thread on auras, to the extent they’re not related to dailyscape overhauls, but did want to flag where some of us recently saw some context 🙂 . Will be interesting to see the next blog on it and we should talk about it more there!
as an example, due to having fibromyalgia which affects my muscles I'm unable to prayer flick effectively, or click food/potions in quick succession, and being legally blind I can't see more than one part of the screen I'm focussed on at any given time, I can't play like most players do. I have to play in certain ways to make up for those disabilities, and auras are a massive part of that. Vampyrism in particular is a HUGE help.
Won't ramble about it since this isnt the aura thread, sorry. Just wanted to make the point
My big worry with the "make it a god book" is cost. Right now the effect is free which is amazing. Making god books either takes a lot of time or costs millions to make (haven't checked the price lately so may be fine but idk). 😅 For bossers that price may be negligible, but I tend to vamp my slayer tasks and lean towards non-degradable equipment and such so if the vamp' healing effect becomes an extra cost I will be sad.
I do have masterwork equipment on my wishlist for whenever I feel like making it though for the 2% heals that it comes with but that's a lot less than the aura.
(also small worry but I'm sure that the jmods are aware of it is - I feel like the discussions need to happen where everyone can engage, and not in a pvm-focused discord chat which will have a hardcore player bias where many have different problems or aura perception from the average player)
Ideally each style should just have some sustain baked in so that vamp isn't even needed
I guess they kinda do with ice asylum / sacrifice. I tend to not use either as much as I should but found them quite weak
id love the removal of skilling auras but to say that combat ones are causing undue stress and "dailyscape" is a cop out i feel
if you cant put down your game for a few mins for fear of effeciency thats a personal problem. its a game
The problem is the other way I think. Not the fear of losing minutes of it's run time but "I want to kill X but my aura is on cooldown for 2 hours so guess I'll wait" rather than letting players do what they want.
isnt that where aura refreshes have come into play? i have hundreds of them, never a worry about playing how i want, when i want. put aura refreshes in the marketplace for all i care. i enjoy being able to skill comfortably with my penance on or my vamp without needing to stress about food or prayer or needing to dig into my pockets to drop 2m on penance powders for an hour
then theres the idea of it being invent perks, which i personally hate as well. needing to reperk my BIS combat gear just so i can train effeciently on non boss mobs is lame and costly. trying to reinvent the wheel and tackle everything at once without a single poll is so foolish i feel
Yeah perks is problematic. People have spent millions to get the ones they have and that also adds a barrier to entry (need perkable armour/weapons to use, need to unlock invention, etc). Relics are also not great (chronotes cost to change) but that'd at least allow multiple effects at once which would be nice imo (imagine how nice vamp' + penance would be together).
It's looking like a "Blood Assault" melee sustain is tending towards coming ou in next week's beta. Gaining momentum in PvME.
#1471871112123121890 message Mod Ryan's on the CB Beta thread right now btw 🙂
relics is my least hated option presented so far. again, large costs when taking into account constant relic swapping based on everything you are doing in game and the fact its totally free atm. it seems like a relatively unnecessary hurdle they put in front of themselves to tackle something that i dont think was nearly as big an issue as these changes will end up causing
great ideas
Archaeology gating is rough, they should just be looking to bake aura benefits into the respective activities
agreed. if you can sustain yourself well enough with necro, why cant this be replicated in one form or another with other styles
buffing runespan 👍
early arch could use some relics although i don't think early arch needs more dig sites so it's a little tricky
arch is already getting more digsites with the new area
My personal fav' idea is: give every player every aura (maybe unlock basic/greater/master/supreme/legendary at some level thresholds but let players keep what they have to keep progression), and remove the timers (just make 'em infinite). That'd let them still exist as they are and can in future be removed one-at-a-time in a less rushed fashion as they're replaced with other stuff like guild unlocks or w/e.
low level or high level or mid level?
It's havenhythe so prob's mid-level if I had to guess.
The issue with archeology is the relic power cost. Seems hard to imagine a situation in which you aren't having to pick a trade-off between DPS and susain, which means at the end of he day it's jus a hard nerf compared to what we have now.
nah auras being removed is a good thing, i think the suggestions currently made are better
basically like how GIM get all auras for some reason...
and Lak i dont believe its been announced but prob mid lvl
exactly my concern. theyre raising the lvl caps but slowing power creep by essentially nerfing gameplay
is the cooking one getting removed?
Yes
Yeah, I feel like something like that with a 5 or 10 minute delay on switching after you've activated one would be the easiest implementation
outside of like the runespan one you can just bake into base runespan.
I agree but I worry about replacements of the benefits getting rushed and not fitting where they best could if all done at once.
i think that aura is kinda underrated, although useless to buy in all occassions because you don't want to buy that one first with loyalty points and at the time you can you'll have cooking cape anyways, it is generally not worth to buy loyalty points ever, but it's OP on a GIM account
although tbf that aura is already in the game and its the cooking skillcape perk
i think chronotes should be a one time cost for a first use of a relic
you still wnat to spend chronotes on buying arch guild stuff and research.
I guess Construction is a great fit for aura effects too. Catch and mount a cool fish? Passive Call of the Sea effect. Steal a cool artifact? Cool, passive Five Finger Discount effect. Add a bloodveld trophy to your trophy room? Cool, passive vampyrism. etc etc.
for IM it would be much better if we can spend chronotes on research so we have to spend less time at mat caches. But instead we have to mess around with relics all the time, it makes a lot of relics basically pointless. Also there is a limit to how many relics you can use, a lot of relics are basically dead content, not worth the chronotes or ever activating.
further emphasized with the recent changes to the thief relic getting nerfed due to the pouch
I think the down-stream effect on the economy of archeology would be a little rough here :/. Notes & Mats would use of a lot of value.
I can't even remember what relics I have going 🙈 I know there's the +500 HP one and maybe the dump all memories divination one but not a clue what #3 is.
i have a luck one currently, idk the 2 other ones but luck i should replace but my arch level is low enough that it doesn't matter atp
the other 2 is unexpected diplomacy (increased reputation gain at mazcab, farming guild) & shadow's grace (reduce cooldown on movement abilities)
#3 is no dirt
font of life doesn't scale so is good immediately but falls of dramatically
I think it's saved my life a few times so have left it be but might replace it (possibly with the rune pouch no degrade one)
@fossil vessel question amd concern when the oddments were removed the heartments and H'oddments were not available to be sold. I still have several of these amd wondering if these will be able to be used or sold for runecoins for their respective holiday outfits.
Currently its still being investigated, the general idea is that players will get a sideposted ahead of time chance to use them up in the same way oddments were handled
I know it's saved mine a few times (I remember surviving with less than 500 hp quite a bit, lol).
But I still replaced it with t4 luck.
Should also rework some quests..
Waterfall quest - Give it some combat requirement as most people use this to skip the early attack/strength levels
The Knight's Sword - Add a smithing requirement as people use it to skip the early smithing levels
Can't think of more right now, but this also allows to skip early game. When I know more I will edit this post.
there's a lot of quests that theoretically let you skip the early game
but in practice a new new player doesn't know about them and an old new player already did the early game before so I doubt they re super concerned
Well new players could check guides to gain levels fast, watch wiki or some rs3 youtuber to do those quests and skip early game. I mean getting from 1 atk / str to like what.. 30+ ? and like 1 to 30 smithing is kinda OP imo
if you're that invested already it's not that big a problem IMO
btw, Knight's Sword already requires 10 smithing
You have like almost no requirements for those quests beside some survivalbility. I really do hope they check some quest rewards.
(and/or mining)
Only for ironman you need 10 cooking and 10 smithing yes, but a regular player could actually skip whole bronze/iron smithing
ok?
quick question, how fast do you think the average actual nublet gets to falador just playing the game?
Fast enough if they are like how to train smithing fast and see a guide/quest that actually skip all levels and isnt that hard at all to finish.
not the question
FAST enough as i said lol
that answer assumed guides, I asked "just playing the game"
Don't get me wrong, but most people actually use guides to get them through... or they ask people in the game for help/advice. Thats how it works.. or they do google stuff, maybe in the early years people were just trying to figure stuff out, but its not like that anymore. And if people return from OSRS to RS3 they all know The Knight Sword's quest as iirc osrs also has this quest.
I'm just against quests that gives huge amounts of xps (as jagex wanna nerf xp, well sure.. but than also nerf quest xp where you barely need any skills for). or at least give them some requirements so you level maybe max like 5-8 levels instead of 20-30 levels.
ah, so you're just salty about one of the other nerfs and wanna spread the salt.
Lol no, just saying that that will also skip lot of levels/early game. Just thinking with them like if they make xp lower (which is fine imo) than also look at quests.
Can be exciting even without huge xps 😉 storywise or just gaining some levels instead of 15+ levels without any high requirements.
Like world wakes and all quests that gives a lot of lamps, thats all fine for me.. don't get me wrong on that.. but those lamps require some certain level to be used on a skill. Really what I talk about is the early game/huge xp gains where you barely need any skill level.
I think there's a reasonable case for nerfing quest xp or adding requirements in some cases but it's important to identify what you're replacing it with; questing should be incentivised with rewards people feel are worthwhile, and in contrast to most things which are being changed here, questing is high-quality, carefully designed content where the content itself deserves attention
Yea I mainly think adding requirements. It is not that I think quests should be fully nerfed.. but what I said before with the Knight example. You only need 10 mining but get 12k+ smithing xp which brings you from level 1 to 29 smithing (this skips fully bronze bar/iron bar and almost even steel bar smithing). So I would say add some smithing required level or nerf the xp or do both.
Same for waterfall quest, add like a 20 attack and 20 strength requirement or something.
I guess both questing and dailies/hourlies etc are involved in skipping particularly repetitive aspects of skills, but I think one is more than defensible until the skills themselves are in a good place because it's replacing gameplay with equivalent gameplay, and the other is not since it's replacing either gameplay with things which are essentially login incentives, or gameplay with incredibly toxic structures
also like... it's probably worth noting that there's nothing actually special about bronze or iron smithing?
and you might come back to steel later for things like construction contracts or cannonballs, but there's also nothing special about steel smithing?
I think the fix to waterfall quest is just to make the moss giants be able to one-bang a level 3 character again
@fossil vessel Has this been thought about with the removal of Auras?
I genuinely need to know if Jagex has seen this and has put ANY thought into how it will impact disabled players that NEED the extra help Auras provide…
(Apologies if the @ is not allowed, I’m still familiarising myself with this server, only ever really used it for news posts before)
It's daytime over there, so I'm going to leave it for now (another mod might delete)
You probably won't hear a response until at least Monday (if at all) because it might require communication with the other jmods/devs
Really sorry if it does break the rules, I’ve not been very active here until recently
Best bet would be to keep an eye on the blogs and/or try out the updates when they come out.
They were talking about working the auras into everyday game play in some ways, so you might find out that you don't need that crutch anymore 🙂
Really hope so, Because just a blanket removal will really impact me, and people like me
They would look into buffing existing items that provide similar effects. The economy benefits since things like blood essence will have a reason to be gathered. Players who want free daily uses of such powers will suffer a bit because it's no longer a free aura you can use every so often.
Jagex said they're going to make a post about auras on Monday (2/16).
Could we get a answer on how all our Daily/Weekly/Monthly reset tokens will be handled?, many of us got beyond years worth of usage cause both limitation in content used on and nobody really expected there to be such a broadstroke in not letting people have time to use stuff up regardless if they were simply sitting in a bank to use when they feel like it or the specific content they're interested in.
Pretty sure theres still dailies you can use them on
They tried to be helpful. No need to be snarky
( @number )
1: Still exploring options / 2: Removing cap / 3: Removing cap / 4: Uncapped; active skilling-based unlock / 5: Removing cap / 6: Already obsolete with agility cape / 7: Still exploring options / 8: Being removed entirely
That being said, Daily D&D tokens might need tweaks if Jagex doesn't intend on fully removing them at the end of the year (my guess is they will based on how they're reworking the daily D&Ds. As for weeklies/monthlies, there's no need to touch 'em yet since those D&Ds aren't being affected by next month's update (again I think there's a fair chance these might be removed at year's end)
Have seen this chat enough to state that theres a big weight on people that having their account flipped upside down cause a concern, panic and rushed to repair content that optional is now in the "green new deal" valued as bad.
when mentioned we get responses like:
"you had time cause a survey went out by new year" without any info specified which portion of content that would be affected at the time.
The responses from jagex was "we will tell you later"
then gives us a 1 week to decide on items like oddments conversion went into gp when people could've had used it for something in consumable section they removed from the options list. ask for more times turns into NO BAD IT GOTTA GO! gee thanks a simple request for time turns into a problem when it doesnt affect others.
Vis wax gets a single month, okay whats the problem thats not a mtx? yeah dailies getting removed okay why? its a daily thats a issue in 2026.
well gee thanks what usages are left after QUICK TELEPORT!
thanks thats worth 2Billions worth of gp in runes people really need 600,000 lodestones teleport that is capped at 400(4k) so ill be done by 2066.
Daily reset tokens:
"you still got time to use the items"
sherlock we know but please read! "MORE ITEMS THEN ABLE TO USE UP WITHIN THE LIMITED TIME"
those whom gained items followed the design of the content now getting the thrown under a bus.
Let alone rushed feeling of resolving stuff before people can use them up is absurd.
1 week 1 month 1 year "it hurts the leave them in game lets just get rid of them"
Mod north's rush to fix everything causes more problems he doesnt see.
I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm saying your response back to Lego was uncalled for.
im tired of being attacked for being affected by change and the responses has been wild when your on the "wrong side" cause saving items in a game thats half designed on hoarding use when necessary brings nothing but more stress.
13 years of items (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
IMO they are taking this way too far and way beyond the definition of MTX and what their player base wanted moving forward. They are turning RS into something like OSRS, supposedly to make the game easier for new players.
Yes, I am not a happy girl with their Roadmap and plans for the future of RS and how this affects the game not just in the short term but the long term life of game. I've been playing RS for over 18 years.
These changes are nowhere near enough to make the game like osrs in the way you're thinking.
What they're doing is qol and grounding. Things that every game needs if its going to survive.
These changes are what the game needs. Wether people want it or not.
Are they removing PvM or something? I see all these vague doomposts but they never seem to specify what they are so upset with. Surely there's more to the game than logging in to do dailies?
They're removing auras (separate from the combat betas going on)
People complaining about "I like this thing so you shouldent remove it" or "Quit making the game like os" in regards to qol stuff
People hate change. Thats what it boils down to
*People hate bad changes 😉
Or wait, wrong thread, these are actually good changes tho
People hate change in general. Good or bad.
People hate change that negatively affects them.
or more realistically, people hate change that should have taken place before a majority of the games population abused the lack of change
same people who disagree are the same people who haven't finished abusing it, the ones agreeing are the ones who have
neither are good opinions imo
the best time to not plant this tree might have been ten years ago, but the best time to uproot it now that it's been planted is always now.
Remove of dailyscape finally brings back the good old holiday events in which you only needed to take a few minutes of your time and be done with it
Instead of grinding for hours everyday hoping for a chance to earn something
Does anybody know what time on Feb 16 the update will be rolled out? Or do we not know the exact time yet
Usually around 11-12 gt, but they're pretty good at giving a heads up if it's different than normal
Okay cool thanks!
People hate nerfs
and most of the chnages, both dailyscape & early game rebalance were nerfs for end game players
i'm hoping that divination ends up being abuff tomorrow, but we will have to see, the problem with div at end game isn't xp but the amount of energies you need for divine charges anyways
theres nerfs and theres complete removal the difference is big
Anyone that is complaining about their endgame being nerfed with these early games improvements needs to just chill out a few months untill they get around to fixing the mid / late game aswell
Lot of the complaints make em sound like veruka.
"But i want it now!"
nerfs to things that are terrible for the game so that they can actually go and play the content they want without being forced to swap activities every 1 hour depending on aura timers
10,000 bones to bury before the update hits at the chaos altar 😩
the concept of removal sold as nerfs and "fix later approach" is the most Jagex approach ive heard.
gg. still got 8k to bury to get 99 🙁
Powder of burials still exists and is meta
no clue what that is i gotta learn the new stuff im still stuck with the old ways

Annoying to make as iron though since you have to hunt the correct whirligigs
why are you burying bones before the update?
i tried getting 99 before chaos altar change
interesting use of free will
just hit 94 i guess thats ok for now
yeah i already hunted 15k bones for this i was trying to do it the easy way
They are offering them on the altar. Not burying ( atleast thats what it sounds like even though they say burying )
that makes more sense
hehe yes my bad^
When is the daily scape execution? I mean overhaul.
Early march is when the game becomes playable again
Which was mentioned in the blogpost btw
Game has always been playable.
such a bummer went from 4.8m xp my bones i had now to 2.7m cuz i dont have wilderness task complete 😭 small break to recuperate my sanity
Time to hunt whirligigs and make some powder 😛
So what's the current conclusion, removing dailies good or bad?
Good
Cool, agreed.
Good, since I'll have more control over how I play
good
Good
Bad
Good
Good
Provokingly bad and the players thats not sitting in a discord bubble will tell
?
I mean I just had a convo in one of the clans I hang out with and they went "good" too
i still remember the days when dailies was not tracked but mere a thing you could do on the side.
then they start track them and people get angry cause its too many is quite wild
I'm neutral as I very rarely do dailies in first place
Argument still stand its a choice let people decide and not force a agenda to greenwash the game with removal of things like daily challenges would be the worst thing to cause decline in player base is a hilarious backward thinking.
remove player owned ports thats a time juggler for you
hell farm runs are annoying subject in its own
nobody complained about collecting maw
or doing divine locations. it was free will if they had time, they wont die from missing it!
now divination will become a skill to just unlock sign of porter o i fear to tell you this but as they circumvent playing the game they're probably next on the list of being "beneficial" and enjoyed its suddenly a "problem" for some?
I'm glad the more fun activities are being kept, with the caps being removed.
They're going. Thats that. Cant change it.
you do know im probably the one thats telling you it will be a shitshow on the 16th cause simply put most players dont know before its in the game, hell finding this post was a small textline on the post that people dont read
they say to want feedback but dont want polls, then what feedback do they get bunch of yes sayers agreeing with status quoe
Its not that deep dude. They said they are removing dailys.
Daily challenges are the poster child for dailys. its literally in the name
if you want a rs without features please ask for a ultimate retro ironman where you can tell all exp lamps all beneficial minigame wildy events to F-off dont tell the playerbase your enjoyment is a problem
Polls often block-out actual feedback because Jagex sets the poll questions and options. Blog posts and conversations are much more authentic.
Plus Polling "Do you want a bunch of free xp and to skip whole potations of skills for little effort?" is always going to people who want to minimize actually playing the game; to the detriment of the game itself.
Dailys arent a feature. They're a chore.
The problem is; player's don't always know the best interest of the game. Players begged Jagex for the Dunge hole back and then players ask he question "Why won't dunge get fix/why can't I find a dunge team?" . Huh- wonder why.
please tell me how free will work and choice of joining and get back to me when you've learned it
Please tell me how incentive and the human mind works. Then get back to me once youve learned.
a simple concept of choice isnt fomo, fomo is if you remove it and people panic over getting on it before its gone
wat
Its literally the definiton of fomo.
You dont do it. You miss out.
Incentive is a offer, your still able to say no its free will
Did you enjoy doing dailies or did you enjoy doing the minimal effort to get xp drops to skip portions of a skill? Satisfaction-wise Dailies were on the level of MTX. Wouldn't it be better to have content that people enjoy doing that incentivizes actual play of the game?
Skill skips/Band-aids also disincentivize Jagex from fixing actual game flaws because players will almos always ake the path of elast resisance and just skip what they feel is a chore rather than an actual rewarding skilling expereince.
and did you die missing it, did your hair fall out? no its not the problem if your unhappy about it existing for others
An offer to good to pass up.
You dont realise how fomo works.
IT JUST MEANS ITS GOOD IF PEOPLE ENJOY IT DOES THAT MEANS HELL LETS REMOVE IT?
People don't actual enjoy it. They do it because it's the path of least resistance to progression.
Daily challenges have no reason to exist, they don't create any new or interesting gameplay. It's just a large reward for completing a minor task. People just don't like it when they take away their goodies.
Its bad for the game. Its bad for people that value there time.
It injects stupid ammounts of resources into the game.
Im glad its going and dont care if people get mad about it.
REMINDER
i did 99 farming with dauly tree runs that shit was pita but did i sit and clock it? hell no i logged on did it and played on like its a part of the game
It needs to be done for the game health.
"just dont do it" is an incredibly poor argument by people stockholmed by such systems.
Cool story, again, leaving X or Y problem unchecked under my quoted message is still how things snowball out of control. Next actual argument please
nobody looking at the clock screaming yep im not playing rn cause wildy events is my life
Careful friends, we’re here to provide feedback - not go after other players and their opinions. Let’s keep the back/forth productive and aimed at giving Jagex something helpful to read when they review for player feedback.
please get some help your bubbles are just growing into anything enjoyable for others which already is a chice causes its "too good" well cause a fraction of the game finds it good now report it to higher ups, one dude complained clues was too easy now o well lets "fix that"
He's not worth trying to discuss with. Lets just leave it here
Agreed
My bubble isnt asking 3 ppl in a chat i go out asking in game "is daily challenges a problem" ppl ask me wtf i get that from and respond jagex will remove it cause some reason

Once we’ve shared our Thieving plans – and we hear from you that they feel like a positive step forward – we’ll get the Aura blog out in the following days. We’ll make sure to post it no later than Friday, regardless of progress.
only agenda i can see now is selling more bxp stars for jagex which sound like exactly what you do after nerfing mtxs by removal.
i dont care of t.h but i do care when they clearly rushing into removal of content enjoyed by people
Bonus xp doesnt make things more AFK. So again; you're not doing dalies because you enjoy them; you're doing them because it's there and the pasth of least resistance. Let's improve (including improving xp rates) of actual content instead of having cheese mechanisms to skip content.
In their current state- it's 100% viable to completely skip a skill using dailies. That's bad.
it halves the gameplay with 50%?
have you calculated how long it would take to get a single 99 doing only daily challenges?
Depends on the skill:
If you only do 1 challenge/day:
- No extending: ~8–12 months
- Extending: ~4–6 months
If you only do 3 challenge/day in the same skill:
- No extending: ~3-4 months
- Extending all 3: ~1.5–2 months
Varies based on if the skill goes to 120 or not, which boosts average xp rates, my estimates are based on the xp curve 1-99 coming out to a little north of 40k xp per day for a single task non-extended .
I've done every daily challenge possible over 16 months, and not one skill reached 99 purely from them. Farming is the one I've touched the least, and it's only level 64 due to both low frequency as a challenge and lack of extending.
As you get more 99s, it's easier to target specific skills because you can block skills you have 99 in; plus you can reroll to target specific skills using vis wax, but the math is still he math in regards to how much game content it skips. The meta for Leagues/Iron Men/GIM for Herblore for example is to use jack of all trades, dailies, and Herby Werby to functionally skip the skill until Overloads.
In an ideal world Jagex would fix the progression of the skill instead of enabling entire skill skips.
yeah if someone wanna pay to play for years doing this only its not my problem altho they do offer some on f2p which in theory is free
is that actually getting added still?
who is that update even for? nobody that does PvP kills random skillers for bones
a whole update for the like 8 griefers in game who avoid everyone who does PvP is wild imo
nope, they removed the need for the skull
What’s wrong with thieving
it's not 15 min afk
it made early game much better, but severely nerfed endgame pickpocketing. 15 min AFK went down to 3-4 minutes max (and that's on level 1 NPC). Higher end NPCs is in the 1-2 minute range before getting caught
Then they surely must introduce a new levelling method. Let’s be able to rob npcs at sword point
How about raiding a vault while avoiding various guards & traps?
That would be a great idea! 😛
if the thieving update had launched this way there would be no complaints whatsoever, it's just people not liking nerfs as always
its kinda like they introduced a hardcore drug that everyone loved and now theyre taking it away
good sht tbh
as someone who enjoys pvp its getting old watching griefers flourish from bad pvp updates & worsen the pvp community
the game should never cater towards 15 min afk, incredible we're even having this discussion
especially when the drop tables are so generous on top of being afk and good exp. choose 1 of the three
Jagex will bring back 10-15minute afk thieving tomorrow we all know it
Why are we even doing the integrity changes if they're just going to walk back integrity? The whole point of these changes is to bring skilling back to their respective skills instead of people hitting up the fastest skips. This thieving update was a comprehensive skip - thieving now is by far the best gathering skill across the spectrum, letting you completely skip other skills to access resources that are hard to get otherwise
It's also one of the fastest skills to train in the game
Because theres better ways to tweak gains without obliteratingthe afk part
i agree but its also bad design for someone with bis thieving gear to be caught by a lv 4 man in lumby
not saying all pickpockets should have 100% success rate without drop off, but there should be levels where you stop failing altogether. however, none of those levels should be any option past lv 99.
There should be a floor for how much the rate decreases in BiS gear, I do agree with that. So if you're above the floor you'll still never fail
i think in osrs, you stop failing ardy knights at 94
xp from knights isnt the best anymore, but you can at least do a more relaxed activity to 99 as opposed to something that requires you to look at your screen, like artefacts.
cannonball stalls are the chillest method to 99 now, 16 second afk for 260k xp/hr
just throwing out there that there will need to be a way to reset Harmony Pillar's if you accidentally plant a seed on the wrong skill, once vis wax is removed and no longer can be used for this.
talk option to destroy a pillar, losing all progress and the seed would be good
Fm to burn the moss, clearing the pillar
Has anyone mentioned the Bucket Vis Wax for the Masterwork Bow
Plenty of times
Lots. It'll most likely be made into a bucket of normal wax or use ground mud rune. its an easy replacement.
Or just removed entirely, because its not that important
Would be easy enough to just rename it and use another mat
I was just asking because Jagex has a way of missing stuff and has to fix later
I can agree with this idea
Kinda like cooking and burn rates.
exactly like that
osrs uses that in a lot of their skills. agility stop failing obstacles after certain levels, cooking obviously, thieving also has it for pickpocketing specifically. i think smithing and crafting also have it but only in a very small section of the skill.
Please add charges to God Banner, resetting weekly. This way, you could train at high lvl locations like Archaeology excavation sites to complete collections for a few hours a week instead of being pressured to do that 30 min each day.
funny how OSRS went through a very similar thing recently with the salvaging nerf since that was pretty much the only 30 min afk method in the game
once you open up the floodgates to afk gameplay, people will cling to it like nothing else especially if the rewards are also good
Thank you so much.
We must remove thieving
My uncle at Jagex said they'll get to that right after removing combat
and they will remove questing too
Sorry that's not on the roadmap yet
Make thieving punishable by caning
I am free (to play OSRS)!
I noticed this too. There are still so many people pickpocketing the new NPCs even though the 120 Thieving hype should have worn off by now.
Going for untradables or irons.
The fact that people are there shows the skill is useful outside of just the exp, which is good. But yeah, overtuned obviously.
i mean most ppl who play r iphone players
idle afker clicker / hack n slash kinda the new market
by what metric do you think most are phone gamers? a lot probably 'use' phones sometimes. but that doesnt make them a phone gamer or support afk, they just do between their active gameplay
- mobile dps update / saturated graphics
dont think they would be continuing to market to the mobile scene if we lacked mobile players/majority weren't, pretty obvious.
just because they market mobile does not mean that its a majority. its just another audience they SHOULD be marketing to as well. noone will dispute that theres a decent number of mobile players, but gameplay is clearly being made that isnt mobile compatible (bossing in general)
Bossing is absolutely mobile compatible
id say the inventory and ability bar not showing at same time is deeply restricting the bossing on mobile
but mobile isnt opted for hard bossing even if a margin of people manage to do it with minimal issues
recently "alt" users found some newer android phones allows for two rs apps working consecutive and in background like "minimizing" window on computer
separate issue is the general portion if game reward is turned increasingly worse the people move to next thing or a different game cause it simply no longer worth their time
from how it seem raids might be deeply affected after the lock removal
changing a whole game to fit mobile standards definitely implies there are more mobile users than pc users. Gameplay is mostly mobile content/gameplay.
have u never played a mobile game before?
They arnt doing that, though? Literally going away from mobile mechanics (mtx) implies the exact opposite.
Mobile dps is not going away from mtx?
that literally goes deeper into mobile mtx.
Mobile mtx is literally cosmetics/rapidly increasing tiers of dps / gamble for perks
what do you mean by dps?
Washed out graphics was before mobile existed, earliest example ive so far found is 2014 july first it was noticeable shift going by what many call papercraft-y texture split from models.
It has nothing to do with targeting mobile
This method of rendering onto flat surfaces and "wrapping" it onto models instead of using polygons is a way of increasing detail without having to do super precise 3D sculpting
You can argue about whether or not this artstyle looks good, and while it is also true that a lot of mobile games adopted this style, it is to increase detail and fidelity while not bloating assets
cause it was cheaper then making them.
And World of Warcraft prominently used it very early on in time and was known as the big popular one making the $$$... copycat behaviour of cult-followed blizzard did it, meant it was the reason for sucess!
idk why i wrote it out tbf im just tired
the early 2010s was also a different time for the industry, before the massive boom in roguelikes, roguelites, and demand for pixel art
100% it amazes me
jagex just kind of got caught in a bad situation, late to the AAA production quality train while letting the core gameplay suffer to try to deliver big cinematic experiences
I've been replaying quests on the new iron and just got through Desperate Times yesterday, shit was absolute cinema and writing actually hit so hard especially knowing what ended up happening to Kerapac due to our actions
they were trying so hard to give us some marvel-esque writing back then
2016 nxt was definitely not saturated wut
correction it was washed out i meant (not native english)
Saturated graphics for nxt was the same as the ui changes for mobile lul
mind giving me an example of rs3's saturated graphics im just curious if you have any clear ones
holy smokes.... wow
Although think i might be confusing html5 with nxt
imo all of 2016 was prep for mobile release. Between graphics/bosses with enrage/invention for perk gambling
no worries it helps alot 🙂
Mobile beta was only 2 years after all of that
Found the left picture on a reddit post "rs is now being made in c++" top comment being "wasted over 5 years just for them to mess up combat and add mtx" lmao
lmao
idk im just saying its odd to change ur market, bring in a ton of mobile players by adding mobile styled content & then try to steer away from the same type of content bringing those people in
mobile players like their afking & 6 button ability mashing
Mobile was never a focus
definitely was and still is
The saturation does feel aim to become a little more cartoony and popping texture wise but theres always a loss in the sell of changes
They turned the game into a "2nd monitor idle game" not a "mobile afk forever game". Seems the same but it's not
u can have that opinion but the content being released says otherwise tbh
hmm was this when they did that comical this is not a dating site "trailer?" (with ozan)
always found it funny we have that quick chat still but run off a client and not a site
o nvm it was 2012 cinematic trailer and that was burthope xd
As for the picture they definitly made the sandy town feel more like a extremely sunny place, question is its solved by skybox/filters settings or if we need to invite some dust devils here
regardless, their past approach clearly is not paying the bills and they're looking to change course and that have been pretty explicit about that
i know its probably wrong place given "daily scape overhaul" has little to do with enviroment yet nothing wrong in figuring out what feedback the user does try to provide
Yeah, most th predated mobile, and everything recent points away from predatory mobile. Its going overall in a great direction.
'the facts dont align w my opinion' is a crazy take
not engaging further probably a good choice considering how far off my original comment you have gotten.
You've both said you were going to stop engaging. Now stop engaging
despite it having fallen out of meta, it would be nice for big chinchompa to be revised to be accessible at any time and for as long as the player wanted
Big Chin early game hunting skilling boss when
They should add guns
Does the Imcando pistol count?
we have two not even counting that one lul
Dwarf cannon is also a gun that shoots giant steel balls
thats one of the ones i was counting :p
crossbows are guns 😛
have they posted about auras yet? still nothing?
they're working to catch up to the catch up to the current game
should be released tomorrow
idea- auras are removed, but the equipment slot they currently occupy is left there.
skilling auras are just transferred as buffs into their appropriate skills unlocked at different lvls
combat auras are changed to items which will be placed in the current aura slot. items without a time limit (since thats the apparent issue). items which can be changed in combat to provide different buffs such as vamp, penance, maj, etc. this would allow for people to cycle items during damage rotations (if need) and not require them to reperk their gear or some of the other suggestions ive seen which would lead to lower damage.
removing a critical element such as auras and then also potentially reperking gear or change your arch relic just solves one issue while creating a new one. by leaving the aura slot and exchanging for an item would likely solve the timing issue while also not causing additional problems
Stuff like penance & vamp should just be deleted entirely & instead buff penance powder to restore more prayer & change ports vamp scrim to work with all 4 styles
they're leaving penance, vamp, equlib with some suggestions for invig yet wait till the post is out cause i doubt we can effectively use all at once as passives
problem is, while people are learning and training should they be required to purchase penance powders to just lvl up skills. thats a wild amount of money spent for new players learning the game
yet i agree they just doing same same different at this rate
It's not a necessity for early-game
they need to make the game as accessible to all lvls of players at this point. you cant view everything as someone with 5.8b. the game is slowly dying and new players need to learn and by removing auras theyd have access to without providing an alternative is not going to solve the playercount issue
Penance aura requires months of active membership to even be able to buy it anyway. That argument isn't valid.
E: Bypassable by buying premier club, but it's highly unlikely a new player would be committing to a year-long membership without prior RS experience
Similar to the War's Retreat auras they require time investment in bosses (significantly more at lower level bosses)
I find the idea that new players are quitting because they don't have penance aura a little silly. drinking potions to restore some kind of fuel for combat is an absolute genre staple and new players don't come into this with the prior knowledge that previously the aura existed
(if anything I think the increase in prices of powders we'll see will help them make money and stick around)
Penance is not for learning, it's for AFK farming with soulsplit on
penance is also counterintuitive to prayer. it should at least be a passive on an item that you would wear in place of something else. make the player make a decision instead of minmax everything for us out the gate.
Aw man, theiving even low level archeologists arent doable at work anymore:( finally being able to be at work where we have service during the day then bloop.
Was able to afk now I get caught as much as high level archeologists?? Wow
QoL right? Then sadly I dont have much time to play after work. Farm, family and take work home too... sucks
go afk elder trees
Holy wrench
so basically jagex is throwing away all the time and effort us long time players have spent earning the auras with zero comp in return. They also have no solid ideass about the future of loyalty points. So many negatives jagex bringing to the game with their restoration crusade.
“effort”
waiting months for loyalty points is not much effort
To defend them a bit, a handful of Auras are unlocked in game with effort, but that's feedback for #1474420619167662301 anyway!
you get loyalty points for free every month, there's no effort involved with this
the time is also a key issue that's aimed to be addressed, waiting a year or two on points to get buffs that feel needed is not okay
also please direct aura discussion and feedback to #1474420619167662301
Daemonheim aura
isn't daemonheim aura being kept in pretty much its entirety
i don't recall the last time i've even activated the daemonheim aura for the demon horn effect, that's the only thing that its really existing as an aura for
everything else is just passive effects
i keep forgetting to activate mine every dg i enter so definitly needed some better activation factor
maybe provide random card buff daily /s
Any news on the sour reaper refreshes, what their use will be if reaper tasks dont have a cap? Understood that there would be a cap on reaper points in some way.
On the list of Might be removed yet still in the air
They haven’t said anything about what the refreshes will do, if anything, after the dailyscape update
They should make sure they actually do something though, it would kinda suck to be told “yeah you got until 2027 to use everything” but then they announce a rework that might make one of those items useless before 2027
they're outright removing aura refreshes, so I'd assume they go the same way
Who knows, maybe just letting people have all the auras all the time will be good for the economy because if more poeple are PvMing, they'll be buying more gear and requiring more supplies, bringing up profitability of skilling as well. Meanwhile a lot of bosses have their drops' values fixed by invention so more players doing them won't necessarily even hurt the market. Hard to predict these things but I think it's just better to bring more players into the PvM fold and solely focus on reducing friction
I don't think "too many people doing PvM" is anywhere near the top of RS3's concerns
Just handing them all auras won't make much of a difference though
it's gonna be interesting seeing what they replace the easy clue "talk to challenge mistress in burthorpe" with... maybe "talk to slayer master in burthorpe"?
Either a different npc or removal, yes.
make cw 5min and block spawn camping 🏳️! its very time gated at 20min 😁
A thought that came up from different discussions - the one thing I will miss about the wilderness flash events is that I'll miss seeing a random large group of people doing the same thing as me. More often than not if I'm not at Prif or the fort I maybe see 3 or 4 people in the same area which doesn't really give the feel of an alive world. I don't really feel that a lot anymore with the minigames mostly being dead (castlewars is usually afk so not counting that) so I hope that there's more community events or such to make up for it. I always go for one of worlds with the highest players too.
Maximum time of 20 minutes, but a win criteria which could be achieved within 20 minutes (first to score 5 points for example).
Loads of minigames need overhauls to compete with skilling options - but they are also, mainly not really related to the core gameplay loops said skill would require.
back to w2 g.e it is. heard scammers are back there :/
ah like X+2 = win regardless of time on clock?
also make it legacy only for cw.... they do soo many abilities that pvp could be classed as broken (which its in honestly is)
It also depends on the minigame of course. Some work better with a set time limit, others could do with a win condition.
But 20 minutes is always too long imo. It's a minigame, not a maingame.
I would love to see CW revived. Spent so much time back in the day at CW was fun.
I think the problem would be the mindset of player base right now. Unfortunately, if there's not a major reward/xp/gp from doing so I don't think it'll get much attraction like old days. But it's suppose to be for fun not really for rewards. I also like the idea of legacy only for CW.
