I think this 14 month period is way too long. It will take forever to finally get to the point were proteans are gone and the in-game economy will improve.

@inland plaza not sure a good compensation as there really isnt anything in game that could be used but i just know in proteans alone i have over 300,000 of and while working 72-92 hour work weeks i dont really have much play time nor do i wanna spend time trying to use them up cause they decided to take them out of game . But i do want compensated for the items i have put money into and have gathered . If not it would leave me feeling cheated and would very quickly determine if i continue purchaseing and supporting this game .

There's very little that Jagex can convert these items to that would not defeat the very intention of the integrity vision.

Any conversion or compensation of items like proteans to any form of exp, direct or otherwise, would effectively be like if you had or used the original item itself.

You might get some cosmetics in the best case scenario. The Jmods have taken note of feedback regarding cosmetic overrides for lucky items and will likely discuss those at some point. There could be other cosmetics involved. We don't know until Jagex releases the blog

at some point as a consumer you have to realize that these items take time to process and if they are something you are consciously accumulating, while knowing they have a time to process that you can't fulfill, that's kind of on you, and not a problem specific to runescape but consumerism in general

Keeping track of all of the removed items via a script can lead to some complications. That's why they removed a bunch of those old and weird collector's items a while back like the Mining & Smithing fliers

Plenty of people across MMOs also have limited time and families as well and they are still playing them without requiring skips the way rs3 does it
I work 80 hour weeks and balance my playtime across 4 MMOs through planning and setting goals, figuring out what activity I can pair with on the others
Runescape has the most massive advantage compared to the other two I play being ffxiv and gw2 is that you can low effort afk and still progress on many goals, in the others it's either do absolutely nothing and bankstand or pay attention
Unlike most content outside of ultimates in ffxiv the content in rs3 generally stays evergreen because jagex designs with longevity in mind so it's always pick up and droppable

I do think there's lack of cognisance from some here that if someone has valued something enough to pay money for it and then has that thing taken away from them, it's entirely fair to feel dissatisfied

there's definitely a difference in kind between 'I've spent a minute every day doing my free spins for this obscene amount of game-ruining stuff' and 'I've spent $1k for this obscene amount of game-ruining stuff'

idk if it's tracked in any way, but IMO, it might be fair to offer some kind of direct transfer for paid items, probably calculating on the basis that paid items have been deemed to be used first and free items second
