#Vote Now On The Future of Treasure Hunter, MTX & RuneScape
1 messages · Page 8 of 1
explicitly what a dart enables you to do is bypass engaging in a boss fight and skip to defeating them
that is the mechanical effect
Yes.
the possibility to do that is the problem they're taking aim at
Is this never okay? What if it doesn’t skip the fight but it can shield you from a poor run? Using DTD wouldn’t give a kill, or drops when utilized.
you also can get the achievements still while using dtd on telos
i think thats specifically the only unique boss for that
ks / enr based
The wiki says you dont get the Warden tho
I'm trying to not add my own opinion to this, just looking purely through the why are jagex doing what they're doing lens
tbf thats not an achievement
It is.
Oh sure that’s fair. I can understand it from a game health standpoint.
the title no, the 4k kill yes
The achievement gives you the title
I do wonder if it gives you the 4k achiev tho
in particular compared to the rest that it does give
ty gambling machine >.>
Anyway, to tackle the bigger elephant:
Keep my elite outfits >:(
Had to grind so hard as an iron to get them
confirmed we are keeping them at least
And thieving one is still rotting at a corner by its bad svaling of fragment drops
good news, skilling outfits arent going anywhere
They removed it from the list?
its not on the list iirc
they never were on the list to be removed from the game
the remove from sale list they are still on
only from sale
I don’t see why they have to take items away from people. Why can’t they just make them non tradable and let people use up their items at their own pace.
That question has been answered several times
or statement rather
You're also saying to make already untradeable items.. untradeable 🤔 not that that's a gotcha moment either
and, yknow, we're being given over a year for everything to be used up

ya'll in favour of keeping treasure hunter seriously need to actually read the information that's been clarified days ago instead of just parroting and panicking after what others who also haven't read are saying
I'm personally fine with it, and if anything, is a bit generous
agreed
In a way I wish it was 8/2/27 for exactly 15 years
but 1/1 is fine
(was it the 8th or the 12th? either way you get the point)
My excitement wants it to be sooner
But understandable
I'm okay with an extended delay, theres some legal obligations that otherwise would get jagex in some real hot water
and the last thing we want is someone suing to put it back in and winning
Careful, someone might try to use that as a 'you got me' moment
Would be a funny news headline
"Company gets rid of predatory microtransactions, gets sued to put them back in"
Maybe the poll doubles as legal argument
Someone on reddit was looking for legal advice to see if they could sue 🙂
sigh
Why would they be getting rid of master outfits? Those are obtainable even on ironmen through invention.
Whose going to tell this person the news
I can confirm, I missed a key word about the runic attuner this morning
Sometimes i wonder if answering questions will even help
😂
Since they clearly don't read anyways 😛
What news, I just read the drop down list for what they are getting rid of?
You read the "removed from SALE" list
You're reading the "will no longer be sold" list
not the removed from the game list
the drop down list that explicitly lists removed from sale not removed from the game
not the "will be removed from the game" list
when theres a FAQ
Or well. You looked at it i should say
that anyone can read
^ this has everything being removed
prob not the place to sht on a nation and its people. especially here.
we are bordering on being outright toxic to people who are just asking questions.
it can be left alone until someone answers
if frustrated, take a chill from this area for a day.
Omg you got me. I don’t sit on discord reading every word. I actually play my account.
there's a lot of ways to play runescape and I think you found the only wrong one
imagine logging in
smh
People try to 'gotcha' the most bizarre things
The information has also been posted outside of discord
The initial FAQ is quite literally on the rs3 home page, but go off
Logging in implies ever logging out
Well you sure seem to want to control what other people comment about. Sounds like someone with a lot of time on your hands. Not someone who actually plays the game.
I’m not sure what you’re talking about. I play my game every single day.
I'm being a daft sod, ignore me
What are you yapping about lil bro
I'm maxed ☠️
Not that that's even relevant here, it's still not anyone else's problem you can't read
slight sidetrack:
who the hell are those 2 in the cover art
Sulla and Kara-Meir, both from the RS novel "Betrayal at Falador"
i will get one of those novels one day!! (i won't. theres literally no way for me to get them)
Calling other people " not someone who wants to play the game" while simultaneously not playing the game (using MTX to progress your account) is quite comical
I think TH should ultimately be removed but I feel like the poll is being done in a way that's kinda scummy and pointless
It's nothing more than a publicity stunt/advertising, the outcome was happening regardless
big poll to get X number of yes votes apparently doable on multiple alts without a no option for the people who disagree means it's really just there as a pretense of player participation for something they'd do anyway
the illusion of player input
Reminder that the survey results already decided th was going. This wasnt a "do you want th yes or no" vote
They never said it was
if people let it slide because it's something they agree with, what happens when it's done with something they don't want?
what was the point of the poll then?
we've had so many surveys that the idea there has been no player input is silly
This poll did not appear out of nowhere
its the product of an over a year long process
that has had so many points of giving feedback and input its not even funny
I'm criticiizing the poll right now, not the surveys
a while it felt like there was a new survey ever y update
yeah but the poll isn't in a vacuum
I struggle to keep up with the polls
did we really think that the 30th time they ask for feedback, the answer would have been different?
miss an update and you just see the link after it's closed
after the "please remove it" has been significantly bigger at every point
there is no scenario where a no vote would win
Its consistently been the minority opinion
keep in mind I said that I want TH done too
I just disagree with the notion its scummy
the picture has been made clear prior to this that majority want TH gone
People that want no votes don't understand what the votes are for
I mean big poll decision and you don't even let people say no if they want to?
This is a vote about hitting the threshold
show the mass behind it
Its a different type of data they've not had before
more valuable than a repeat of what has happened a dozen times already and they got enough data on
That, and its far better marketing and creating word of mouth
might as well not even bother with it since they're going by data they already collected
it's really just spectacle
Correct
People have had the opportunity to say no repeatedly. And they have. And they'v been outnumbered.
Thats valuable to both jagex and the playerbase though
Best way to get people chatting and news spread to outside communities
Which has been very effective
The entire point of this is to grow the game long term
eh it's not really the kind of spectacle I'm into and it reminds me the ways the RS community can feel alienating to me sometimes
It hit the front page of every major (general) gaming subreddit from what I could tell
spread on youtube
still not thrilled they scrapped the forums and went all in on social media
Forums are inherently an internal thing
you can't really reach former or potential new players through forums
Another day another "I'm ok with th being removed by why no no vote!!"
So tiring, just enjoy a better game when it's gone
I think jmods can explain it fine for why the vote is held the way it is
having a forum doesn't mean you can't have social media
people have private fan/game communities even when there's an official platform
I do get why forums were taken down, even though I remember them from back in the day
by the time they were taken down
it had single digit visitors at any point in time
People had almost entirely ceased using them by the time of their death
the Rs forum was on code they couldn't update anymore but for some reason instead of actually saying that they brushed aside the people who were still using it claiming the long broken activity count proved no one was using it
despite it's problems I found it pretty chill and with interesting people
also because it was official you just used your RS account instead of having to make a new account on some third party site that's probably scraping your data for AI now
Oh don't worry, AI is scraping all the internet so if forums were up they'd scrape everything there too
and really it was pretty clear more people would be using it if it weren't for the lack of support like mods being more accessible elsewhere, outdated rules and features letting trolls run rampant because the Fmods couldn't ban them
ever the chase for more data
yeah but it's the platforms themselves scraping the data
with legalese in the terms and service for the account
on top of any scrapers visiting the site
anyway the forums weren't active on the levels they used to be, but there were still a sizable number of people using them
a bunch of people popped in to talk about how they'd check various threads without logging in for help on things
when they heard they'd lose that
lots of people upset about the whole thing and multiple people archived some of it
but basically my point is that forums can exist alongside whatever third party stuff people want to set up
and it'd be worth making an updated platform with longterm upkeep in mind so we won't have to deal with stuff getting scrapped from lack of support again
that's basically what happened to RS classic
it could even be part of updating the site for better navigation of news and stuff
somewhere you can look up the streams and a summary of them if you don't have the time to sit in on them
fan art section
do you have to go through all the update pages to get all the fan art showcases?
is there even a point to the photo booths anymore?
I feel this is more of an official petition than an actual vote. Jagex says not voting is a 'no' vote, but it seems they only care if there are 100k 'yes' votes.
Assuming 10 million active accounts based on 2013 figures, 100k votes would correspond to a 1% approval. So this whole "vote" is pretty much just for show.
thats an intellectually dishonest premise
you know that's not exactly reassuring
by actual modern numbers, ~225k accounts active this year to the point of highscore tracked xp gains
we're >50%
that kind of spectacle just doesn't seem like a good precedent
was there not some other way to get their community engagement than putting up an ultimately unnecessary petition vote?
You mean the 49 polls and surveys over the last two years that consistently overwhelmingly said delete TH?
1% of the player base and it's somehow data they need to get that's better than the surveys?
You mean the Experiments that overwhelmingly said delete TH?
Not 1%.
Thats a dishonest number.
50%.
I couldn't find much recent information on active accounts. The closest I could find was this article from 2013: https://archive.ph/GNW8w
I'm talking about the big vote poll, not all the survey data showing the players want to remove TH, myself included
I don't value the spectacle people keep insisting makes it an important and necessary thing
Runepixels has tracked 221k accounts on the highscores this year
give or take 5-10k for max xp and below hs level
and it's not reassuring to me that spectacle is its own justification
Your right, they shouldn't have done anything and just removed it instantly alongside deleting everything immediately. However, we now have to wait in this weird limbo where they'll still try to milk all the people who can't stop swiping.
the majority in every single one of those 49 polls and surveys and the experiments said remove TH
I imagine a lot of people might have just logged in, played for a short time, and then quit after deciding RS wasn't for them. So the actual number of accounts that accessed the game is probably much higher than the number tracked on the high scores.
yes and we could've just had a stat breakdown of that or something instead of a meaningless poll
Its the best available metric for gained any xp at all this year
its why I mentioned max xp and below hs level as exceptions
bc those can't be tracked by hs
why is spectacle enough of a reason to make a poll for just X number of yes when the previous data is far more reflective of the overall players' opinions nos included?
you mean the breakdown we got on the experiments results newspost?
the breakdown of the single most responded to survey in the game's history that had >3/4 in favour of nuking TH?
That breakdown?
I'm saying that the poll was unnecessary and I don't like some of the reasoning people are giving for it
since stat breakdowns are far more valuable and representative of that kind of thing
when done right anyway
I still have some problems with how the death costs rework was done
Combined with the written responses, we felt the questions asking players to agree or disagree with a series of statements really reinforced that – although there is some impact to players – reducing MTX is the right direction to be considering:
76% felt the changes show RuneScape is headed in a positive direction
According to Jagex' financials, there are 1.3m subscribers for RS3 and OSRS combined
Thats latest 2024
The only thing jagex did wrong in this whole ordeal is waiting so long to actually remove it all from the game, no grace period, nuke it all
of these, majority are OSRS
Roughly 250k accounts get 1k xp on RS3 on a monthly basis
Unironically this poll could very well get more yes votes in 2 weeks
*yearly, no, with runepixels tracking less than that this year?
though I guess that wouldn't cover f2p
No, monthly hiscore on official runescape homepage
I mean you kinda need a grace period so people who care about those items don't feel cheated out of their value
I trust Jagex' number over some third party
fair enough
I've got like 100K oddments to burn
I'm less familiar with the official numbers
because I oddment most of the stuff I get from using up my free keys
but assuming zero overlap at all that puts the ratio at, what, 4:1?
If people cared so much, and wanted it in the game that badly, why aren't they actively playing the game using those items?
are oddments going to turn into coins or go away completely?
Last 2 months have been 233k but then again, 20k people just playing only leagues and not main game is kinda to be expected
unclear, likely to be thanos snapped along with proteans
theres been talk of a conversion of some items
You got until 1st of jan 2027 to use them up
They will go away completely (idk if they will be converted) then
stockpiling for DXP etc
I don't buy proteans but that's the only time I really use them
I've not once seen that sentiment, I've constantly seen "what about my 10 years of stuff I've not used at all"
Thats what I assume, though some in RS3 hiscore will be f2p
Maybe 5:1
so non elite skilling outfits were on the get rid of list or what?
and assuming zero overlap is foolish
Non elite
didn't they remove f2p ability to be in high scores?
Given that you do need an account to vote on the removal poll
Only removed from sale
100k is no small feat for RS3 to hit
because I don't recall those being on TH
They were originally
Dxp shop
in the old old says
got a couple pieces of elite outfits on there
or wait I think I did get some non elite pieces on there
last weekly hiscore had ths many accounts playing rs3 and getting 1k xp
fletchers?
the skilling outfits started as TH promos
They're staying just committing to no real world purchase for skilling outfits
which is clarified in the FAQ
so almost 122k yes signatures (need an account to vote yes)
in same period of time 154k people played rs3
is not a small feat
That said, we definitely had former RS3 players chipping in, whether they're playing OSRS or quit entirely
gonna say way way back with the wheel they were dumping so much event/MTX stuff in my inventory I actually stopped playing for a while
but thats good anyways, if they're interested enough to vote they may be interested enough to return
didn't jagex remove f2p from high scores?
no
I also thought they had
you will dissapear from perma hiscores if you're BOTH
- f2p
- inactive for 3 months
Though to my knowledge you'll stay on seasonal hiscore
its fine we're used to misleading tooltips lmao
these time limited hiscores you stay on IIRC anyways
I started paying attention to monthly hiscores around Hero Pass release
That thing lost almost a fifth of the playerbase on hiscores in like 2 months
hero pass really was the straw that broke the camel's back
without it I don't think we'd've gotten this
No coincidence this process started like, half a year after Hero Pass was deleted
I still remember how they scaled it for ridiculous playtimes
forgetting that some people skew the average
I'm one of the people who quit from it. Only started playing again when they started these MTX experiments.
[pretend I’m a toxic player making a bad-faith argument that Hero Pass was therefore good for the game]
Lmao
uh?
HP taking TH into a shallow grave with it is amusing
But I’m not giving it praise for being so bad it killed the gambling
HP being such a shit system it sent yak track, treasure hunter to the grave alongside it
so sad too because it was genuinely a massive improvement on yak track and dailies, just had those gameplay rewards ruining it
for argument sake and for understanding, what makes hero pass any different than the season pass stuff from like Fortnite, Destiny, CoD, etc other than its bad?
You’re comparing piles of shit either way
unless i'm missing something, the FPS/TPS games had no complaints iirc
It’s not really a coincidence that D2 is nearing the chopping block and CoD is losing the battlefield
Oh man no destiny players hated the season passes
in the case of destiny that's not really because of its "battle pass"
But it had bigger issues
it has giant problems aside from that
just recently destiny added a way to get old battle pass stuff as well, pretty good
D2 DEFINITELY had major issues outside season pass for sure
TFS timegating the season pass really pissed off those I knew
i can agree with that
But the power grind sandbox and shitty repetitive formulaic content were bigger issues
but it was really just a perception thing
whether they released an entirely different 50 rank pass on act releases or 50 additional ranks on the base pass doesn't really matter
so if there were complaints on the other games i 10^googol % am missing something
the mistake was having it visible in game while being unobtainable
at that point you're just dangling goodies in peoples faces
Eh, we went from you could go as high as you wanted whenever to fuck you stay at one level and bounty prep or grind three times a season instead of once
But game was fun
if they dont sort their shit with renegades, they really don't stand a chance
Forkknife won’t go anywhere any time soon too much momentum with the kids
Let it die imo
Most of my friends left
Three times they’ve wrecked the game it’s not being given a fourth chance
you could say that about runescape too
what does tfs stand for again? web giving me inaccurate results
runescape is older
gotta stay optimistic about the things you enjoy
isn't it one of the oldest MMORPGs?
The Final Shape
oh
The oldest surviving I think, possibly one older?
sending people off into the void or harassing them with fairy choir before they made a ban system
Can't wait for the next circular discussion on this vote's validity
that time there was a whole game area dedicated to executing bots
Oh not actually even top 5

Meridian 59 - 1996
Tibia - 1997
Ultima Online - 1997
Lineage 1 - 1998 (although not running in NA anymore)
Everquest - 1999
all the different layers of content from different eras of the game you find in stuff like quests
its probably 6th or 7th
i'm starting to regret bringing it up a week ago. i made my case, was debated but then others brought it up over and over and over and over and over .....
I’d argue third just because what we’re seeing now is still hero pass aftermath
would you call osrs part of the eoc aftermath
Yeah
The development lag this time round is just 18 months instead of 6
I'm all for the removal of TH but why was there no option to vote no?
it was kinda 18 months the first time too
if you consider legacy mode the actual response to eoc
I’d consider revo the real fix
revo saved eoc, for me at least
it didn't for me, not initially
took another few years of ironing it out
remember momentum
i couldn't play when eoc came out. my movements, reflexes and lack of motor skills really hindered it for me
the abilities are better but it's still a style I struggle with and all the combat gimmicks are annoying
feels like I have to study a guide just to fight something with decent drops
and then submit to RNG hell
All drop RNG is hell
I quite like revo now especially since I can’t keep up with full manual
I’ve been debating selling my first Necromancer for a FSOA but I’d just end up regretting it >.>
Super late to the DTD discussion, but they've definitely saved me on my HCIM. DC on Telos, came back with RoD procced. Used darts to skip p4. I actually think that they hold an interesting place for skipping a quest boss or two per account, but they should be exceedingly rare.
Darts saving you doesnt mean they are good though. Quite the contrary. The fact that you can skip parts of bosses at all is bad. Its just a symptom of the problem of hardcore being bad in rs (i say this as a hc)
Hc already has multiple lives, I'm surprised they can't use TH
Multiple lives was kind of necessary
With server instability
But a proper dc save would be ideal and remove them.
yeah, no. we aren't doing that sort of feedback in this thread. you can post feedback and keep it civil and constructive
but we aren't going to have you tagging jmods with attacks like that
do i care ?
you should since if you do it again, you will be timed out
go aheaed 🙂
alrighty. see you in 24 hours
Are the results of the previous 20-something past surveys concerning MTX publicly available? I’m currently researching for a paper and I’m interested in seeing the raw data.
probably the closest thing you will get #game-news message
gees, i thought you were talking to me then
was like, thats a little extreme for off topic xD
but yeah, deleted post
So this is the first jmod attack I've actually seen in this convo
maybe better people dont know what it was tbh
That and the data they published before the first xperiment
These ones come to mind
"86% of those who BUY microtransactions are unhappy with Treasure Hunter" is a pretty damning figure for TH
yeah, maybe there needs to be a sticky somewhere that can be referred to that keeps all this sort of information all in one place, without bloat
officially.
Forgot about that one. Thanks!
so question I read the removal list lucky items are all going away?
Looks like it
aw man that's sad 🙁
Makes sense, hopefully they're made cosmetic but I'm not attached to any lucky items in the bank
You can't augment them and you can get the actual armor (or better) on the GE for relatively cheap
yea lol I just like having em but oh well
I'm wondering if premier membership price will go up or lower due to the changes happening I'm waiting to see what they do before getting it
It's generally been weird to me that lucky equipment existed at all
There's been a lot of assumption and doomposting around "everyone wanting th gone means membership will go up"
Despite the devs clearly stating they are willing to take the short term loss
close enough, you get what I mean
Fortunately only 6 days left til we have more information already
I think pointing out that specifically the head of the company has said it, and not someone like a senior dev or a community team member, said it makes the point more poignant, because it shows buy in from the absolute top
I just want the 120 thieving update already lmao
Already have 120 thieving so ahead of the curve. Will be cool to hopefully have new methods to go for 200m with tho.
prices cant go higher honestly, every other major mmo charges basically the same price, trying to charge more tends to be less effective
so until the rest of the other games start to go up, runescape is pretty safe for any price hikes the most I see is another dollar
I’ve never understood the complain with the price for premium or the subscription cost. I can easily milk 1 hour/ dollar spent on this game. That’s HUGE for $ cost/time sunk. Easily some of the cheapest entertainment you can buy.
some pay instead of farming for gp to buy bonds. increased price is a normal complaint in all things tbh.
I support jagex so I buy my prem even tho I can buy 2 years using bonds rn.
to each their own 🤷
Bonds probably net them more money than paid premier
At scale I doubt it, on an individual basis they mathematically do.
Bonds also serve a more important purpose
They let me get members without credit card lol
Whenever I feel like it
even more importantly, they kick goldsellers in the teeth
No billing or why is the card rejecting it or why is members on wrong account
💀
when my bank doesnt care but ive gotten an email from jagex checking on me about my purchases
Keys are not good for you
L0L
high yield savings would probably be good for me ngl
these didnt come into existence on their own leaf me alone
Rip bank space
im actually gonna have to de augment a shield before its removed
You can augment th items?
some yes
😮
nvm I genuinely thought I augmented it
Ah well
Pretty
Why wasn't there a no vote in this poll? Do they not care about us players who spend so much money on keys?
its not a poll its a validation vote.
werent you here already?
youve asked this already before, youve been given the answer. not a good look to come back and stir the pot
asking it multiple times to stir up arguments. youve been given the official answer
its weird to come back and ask for it multiple times
there shouldnt be a concern. TH is being removed. the vote wasnt a poll.
The joke is that he's been taking a jab at the illiterate TH supporters
mtx is staying overall, mtx items are being removed
😛
me or him?
RO
cause its just toxic if hes doing that for the sake of argument or mocking people.
Given the frequency of them coming in here before actually reading the pins, the rs3 home page etc
lets not dogpile somebody simply because they're asking repeat questions, point them to the FAQ and move on
Oh that's not what I meant
RO was cracking a joke at the people who DO rage in here before reading is what I was trying to say
😅
static is saying ro is trolling, im saying thats toxic.
reactions are not necessary for discussion in here
Via the channel perms, yes
I enjoy posting my (current) favourite gif tho
which one's that
why was there not a no boat option? do they not care about people not wanting sailing??
😭
were skipping boats for space boats #astrology
so truthfully its statements like this that shouldn't of been existent though.
Sure you don't like a skill? sure don't do it then.
Maxed isn't something that should be handed out to everyone, it should be appropriately be earned, however we've had years of accepting this as a new normal and it never should of been the case.
Exactly. I've been playing for 18 years. Once or twice in that whole time, I may have bought something (besides membership), but only literally once or twice. But stealing the things I got with my membership ticks me off. Haven't logged in since the vote hit 100,000, and cancelled my membership auto renew. I'm outta here. May come back for a second Leagues, but that would be it. (Assuming I hear about it on time.)
Yup. I guess there's no way to please us all. Just have to see if they gain more members than they lose.
I hope you got a necro level for the gravedigging you did for these replies 🤣
That's not up to you to decide. I think it's a pretty good statement. I'm also one of many that doesn't have much time to play, so helping skills that are time consuming or grindy with some lamps where I can is a good option.
okay theres a difference between doesn't have time to play; and choosing to skip a skill entirely by choosing to not play.
I absolutely feel for those who don't have time to contribute, however bonus experience being available I think is more then sufficent for that; its not like you need to be level 99 in 1 day.
having bonus experience is a 50% increase, reaching level 99 with bonus experience isn't super long.
Bonus Experience helps aid players streamline to obtaining XP at an excellerated rate;
Lamps completely bypass and obtain the XP instantly.
its a solid statement. but the counter is that instead of letting people skip skills, the devs should be making better methods, or a larger variety for people to enjoy them. agility, for instance is a terrible skill. do you deserve to skip it? no. should there be a more enjoyable method? yes.
just letting people skip things they dont like, because they feel they deserve it is just.. counter intuitive to the game, as a grinding/achievement based game
It is very unfortunate that the game has been in a state that indicates it is okay to make progress without playing the game for so long that it has muddled the perception of so many to think that status quo is healthy or acceptable
playing the game to progress in the game is fundamental to the game
Now i don't claim to be the arbiter of what constitutes as playing the game, but logging in for daily challenges and keys and nothing else is clearly not even close to being within any reasonable definition of it
If you don't have time to play you should consider a game that doesn't require as much time
You know, life happens. Most games require either more time or input or aren't even available on a mobile platform. I've been playing this game since 2003 on and off like most players.
I agree life happens, but you (or others) not having the time does not make lamps existing a good thing
lamps, proteans, dummies, anything
yeah, life happens, but like.. just because you dont have time, doesnt mean you should automatically progress without palying the game. its why its so weird people want pay to skip
its like you're just doing it to get some sort of bragging rights for 'keeping up' or something
you want to skip the grind, but the game IS the grind.
I'm not paying for keys or any progression for that matter, my lamps came from free TH and dailies and they were sufficient for my gameplay. I agree that it is rediculous that you can get 200m xp without any effort if you just pay.
i dont think it really matters how you get them.
they are allowing you to skip other gameplay by not playing, or just over time. how is that good? you can absolutely argue the gameplay isnt good (agility), but that doesnt mean it should be skipped. it should be improved.
a good thought might be, lets apply that bonus automatically instead of clicking that lamp. now someone can just pay memberships and hitting max all is inevitable, its just going to take time. does that sound good?
yeah gate keeping stuff isn't good we want new players and to keep players playing. not scare off more people and make them quit
Its not gate keeping.
there is no reason someone needs to completely max in 1 day.
just keeping things the same won't help change these things
we're not saying someone needs to max in 1 day
Lamps just outright aren't nessessary to be purchasable.
well lamps open that gateway.
they're already getting rid of it
Bonus XP is more then sufficent.
it's just not yet of course
well the arguement you were adding to towards is that Bonus XP is gate keeping 😂
what I'm saying is if someone has to spend months to 99 a skill that isn't very ideal for the average player
revamping the xp rate is what they need to do
I'd normally agree; but tbh the only reason I am not opposed is the fact it still requires the players to at least contribute, participate and play the game still.
be that it skips majority of the skill still, I am not as opposed for those reasons mentioned.
not faster.
yes faster
slower sure
no
but its fast enough.
if you make it slower ain;'t nobody gonna play
Slower
it isn't fast in standards to modern games
Since when is skilling fun anyways?
why do you think people skip out on trying the game?
it's because of the huge grind
in the beginning
People should be able to have fun without 99/120 everything
then how do you explain the massive popularity of OSRS?
OSRS skills are multitudes slower than ours
I don't know man I don't play osrs nor do I care for it
Yeah if ive checked its roughly 7x faster on RS3 for specific tiers.
I admit tho some tiers need some tweaks and changes in specific skills though on lower end
I'm just saying normal people who never played runescape will think it's slow
you and I are okay with this because we can handle the grind
the average person will not bother to do that
based on what? Do you have a source other than "trust me"?
MMOs aren't hugely fast either....
yeah but some MMOs don't torture you with grinding a skill for like 3-4 months
like take lost ark for example
never had one take me longer then 1.2 months WITHOUT Bonus XP on ironman
it is grindy but you don't feel like you're grinding because you're also progressing to new things when you level up
and it's more engaging
we need more engaging atleast if not fast exp
its genuinely too fast already.
to us it is
I had fun on my retired pker with necromancy until I hit the darkness quest, which required 86 arch or dung or something horrible like that
I've tried to convince alot of my friends to play
If there’s a problem with skills, it’s gatekeeping stuff like quests behind it
oh man don't get me started with questing lol
you know the main thing I find that actually doesn't maintain player retention;
Is the lack of actual guiding players to learn Abilities/Layout.
Its too confusing and the game doesn't teach these aspects. They just need to depend on Playerbase to teach them. Which ill be honest our Playerbase for teaching is one of the absolute worst ive encountered.
my friends have told me it feels really overwhelming when they tried playing
many players don't know why you do specific things, but instead just know this is what is done
It used to be great because you had the freedom to train (or not) any and all skills you wanted, but rarely were you forced to to access content
I agree early game content sucks lol
and they also don't know alternative methods to dealing with mechanics in bosses either.
Early game is fun
however to my understanding Mod Ryan is tackling this.
the capers are a pain in ass lol
specially that stupid fragment 1
fragment wasn't so bad tbh.
I must have repressed those memories
real
but yes; when we compare Runescape to any other MMO;
We are extremely different identity wise and its hard to provide an appropriate game genre for RuneScape these days.
Over the years, Runescape has been battling with what its identity should be and thats a core issue in itself.
Yeah I just really wanted my friends to try it out and like it but it's hard to convince people
As someone who returned at the start of the year, I actually used the legacy UI (not legacy combat) at all when I was learning the game, and didn't swap to using modern UI with osrs color scheme until a few months down the road
but imo, remaining with the MMO genre should be a must; I agree with being more engaging rather then AFK.
but the XP rates the only way I can support a tweaking is having much of it brought down to where it should of been initially.
Definitely can confirm the UI guidance needs to be addressed
many games properly tutorial players learning; sadly ours doesn't. It just assumes you either have played or have someoen to teach you.
yeah I even tell em yo I'll pay for your membership first month and guide you
And what tutorials exist tend to be rather bare
and they're still like nahhh man lol
however Ive taught a few WoW players, and many of them prefer and like our Combat and Layout.
the primary thing they dislike is how much it lacks teaching it.
That too, I've not had anyone actually teach me about broad OR niche ability interaction
Tbh when necro came out, I felt like that’s how EoC was meant to function
rs wiki was my teacher
It genuinely sucks
I used it for literally everything
It do be a wiki heavy game
Fortunately now though, I'm already starting to learn fsoa rotations for magic 😄
and if something doesn;'t make sense on the guide
And I started with basically nothing in january
I usually ask ppl
the sad reality is with how little of the playerbase actually know the answer to this; its difficult to find people who know.
you'd likely have to find a full manual user for most amount of luck on this.
Sometimes DGers are likely to know too.
tbh; I disagree tremendously.
I don't think Necro is bad; but its very basic and boring for anyone who has full manualed the other combat styles 🙁
I wanted to experience rs3 pvm for myself and honestly, I quite like it so far
Necro is also missing a ton of features the other combat styles offer.
it's very fun
Legit, rs3 zuk is way more fun than osrs inferno
Let me clarify: how it handles abilities and adrenaline costs, as well as the giving you a only one or two abilities at a time to learn as you level up
I've already got my 4 capes
nice I barely got my first 1 I sucked at bossing but I've been improving by practice and dying lol
couldn't agree more in regards to PvM i find Rs3 is superior; in regards to Game Integrity, Skilling, Questing, and various other portions of the game is superior on OSRS
But yea, just wanted to throw my 2 cents in on a few things
I think the experience can be used for other styles, not exactly like how it is for necro tho
on the bright side, Mod Stu is working on a major decluttering of Lumbridge
iirc he also wants to make it the starting town again instead of Burthorpe ^^
I understand; but also still disagree, sadly Necro has not very much to generate adrenaline or even spend it.
I wonder when 120 range will be a thing
Oh?
can't wait to go back to range if they do update the other skills
I did see this, and think this is amazing 🙂
What's wild is that I got my first igneous stone on 2nd kc 😄 I was pleasantly surprised how quickly I learned the waves + zuk
Right, which is why I meant it as a baseline blue print, not the standard solution
one of my clan mates of a clan I joined recently helped me out and then after that now Ic an do zuk with no food
I didn't even plank to pizza time, but because I forgot where my defensives were on action bars due to having rearranged them at the time
it's such a nice feeling lol
So my muscle memory was off
whoa why are you posting a pic of my house
I'd like to see several improvements to necro before I can say its how skills should of been.
Realistically; I personally am a firm believer Melee today is exactly how it should of been.
Mage/Range are also very good aspects to where they should be today.
Necro is basically on life support.
Damn removal of the crater, too. I also felt like they could’ve kept it but did a better job at naturalizing it into the world. Tbh I love seeing the swamp feel more like a swamp again.
doxed 😂
I kinda wish we could've combined the death warden with the first necro armor
I think it would’ve been cool to repurpose the nexus as a lower level skilling boss and moving it underground
😂
can I ask why out of curiousity?
I think that wouldn't nessessarily solve the issue at all.
it would make the first necro armor look better
lmaoo
the primary issue with Necromancy; and weird as it is;
Its a 120 Combat Skill competing vs Level 99 Skills, and cannot out perform in any area.
oh cosmetically sure 🙂 i thought you meant passives
yea cus it do be looking a lil boo boo without the dyes
eh tbf I cosmetically override the armors anyways.
the only armor I like and wish i could dye was Vestments.
had a lot of potential there.
I think if they reworked the helmet and covered our faces it would look cooler lol
Omni Guard also kinda looks like ass too though.
and weirdly got a purple color added in; which was an odd choice
this is what I was referring to btw someone on reddit made this
oh that'd of looked sick ngl
man someone at Jagex hire the artist.
fr lol this looks really good
tbh I actually like the way deathwarden and dealer look over TFN
yeah death armor looks way better lol
on the above, I think it's unambiguously true and doesn't need proving that modern RS3 is much slower still than most games on the market when considering gaming generally - but that doesn't mean it's too slow for its target audience. I'm certainly of the view that RS3 is too fast at base rates at the moment.
oh there's been shitloads of messages since that convo
lol
I'm inclined to agree
People do genuinely believe the game is the same as if the gower brothers were still in charge
Not saying anyone here is acting like that ofc
I've seen on a facebook random post I think cus I played runescape they can see my algorithim but there were people whining about how if they took out EOC they'd play rs3 again and I was like okay ya'll r ridiculious
there's osrs lmao
LOOOL
Let me pull up a quote from an old friend of mine
One moment
The zeitgeist of what RS3 is to OSRS players is stuck at what it was when EoC dropped
They could improve legacy mode so it’s close to eoc
100%
they still think EOC is bad lol
Basically it translates to them still thinking eoc is EXACTLY how it was in 2012 when it launched
And hasn't improved at all in its own way for what it is
I am bad at EoC lol
I mean, I'm still bad at it too imo
Everyone learns at their own pace
But it's not unplayable like a lot of people want to believe
I'd take keybinding prayer flicks over having to use the f buttons to get to my prayer tab tbh
osrs is fun but I just can't do that type of combat anymore lol nor do I want to start over on the grind
To be fair, F keys for osrs works for what it is
I say this as somebody who's completed up to the elite tier combat achievements on there

I admit; I love EOC and truthfully I think if the game appropriately taught EOC its one of its best attributes currently.
100% agree
however during the release of EOC it had major issues and was also pushed on the playerbase with no appropriate way of understanding it during its time period, and was a bad move for the time.
I think many players are still in that time period when making those comments, and just refuse to learn or adjust.
Yeeaaa the beta was a thing of all time when I played it back in the day
Zero people are maxing in one day, rough overexaggerated example.
I hate manual mode
the fact its possible is an issue is what I am referencing; and there definately has been people who have previously recorded doing it as an example.
Is it possible? To date, there hasnt been anyone who has claimed theyve done it
I personally love Manual after learning it.
I admit though attempting to learn it took a while and was a head basher forsure.
Like lets take for example the hour or so of 900 keys. Do that 24 more times. From lvl 1 to 99 per skill. It doesnt get you to a 99.
No, you are not maxing in a literal 24 hour period off Keying
Im sure you could spam keys but you actually lose targeted bxp/lamps so it would take even longer
Also the game stutters key spam ironically.
I’d probably quit again lol
Better argument to say it shouldnt be a possibility to key in the name of skipping
okay I should clarify; Not directly maxing the entire account in 1 day.
but there definately has been people who have maxed a skill in 1 day.
additionally there are several maxed accounts that were testing the rates of specific treasure hunter promotions over time however I do not know exactly how long it taken these players directly; but I presume its less then 1 month.
which is still absolutely ridiculous. even obtaining 1-99 in a day is horrendous. It skips majority of the game by doing this with skills.
after doing a quick search it appears youtuber A Friend achieved max in 3 days.
which was on less overpowered Promotions, so current type lamps are easier.
as 10 Years ago I don't recall the Phoenix Lamp promotion, I believe we had the lamps, but not guarenteed to get it as rapidly as we can now with spending both XP and BXP per lamp.
also amongst this quick search you can see its been achieved by a few players, be it not directly within 24 hour period; its definately a 2-3 day adventure for those accounts apparently. (This is before Archeology, Necromancy for all results I've found)
I was just saying rough example for 24 hours. Its also true that the vast majority of mtxers arent doing a 3 day max. Thats roughly 15k usd. Its unrealistic even if its a concern due to the couple of people doing it.
previously I had all 99's but not max total as invention and Dungeoneering go to 120
Also more skills now compared to then. It would cost more :kekw:
there wasnt as many promotions back then though, you can do it on rainbow or one with a mulitpler and do it faster
It would; but this shouldn't of been possible is what I am referencing.
Theres so much of the game being skipped by supporting this style of gameplay.
and I am not saying those who have less time should quit or be hindered.
I think BXP is fine to sell as its not nearly as bad.
my thoughts exactly; as we also don't have to select the skill each lamp either;
you can set it to auto redeem until each skill, I feel its faster now then compared to then.
which is why I still to this moment believe its possible to within 24-48 hours. however I never tested.
I should also clarify i personally rate max at 99 all, not 120 primarily because that is when you obtain the Max cape, however True Max in my opinion is where skills max out entirely; such as your 110s, 120s
the hilarious part is his name being "not p2w" is hilarious imo
so when well of integrity
Well of what? What idea are you creating?
you didn't read the article?
I read it and i don't recall Well of Integrity mentioned; but Ill double check now.
I hope that if it is a sink, its far lower payout than using the items normally
Which 90 articles and what section
ohhh touche.
Its not going to occur till atleast after the 12th, however even with 12th we're likely to not see this right away as Items are supposed to be possible to use until January 1st 2027
the 12th is when we start getting details more indepth
they could be doing something entirely diff tho
like I said it's just something they kinda threw in the article
it sounds like a reference to the well of goodwill similarity not nessessarily a well being added.
I was mentioning they should do a black hole sort of deal to dump the items in and then they said something about a well lol
which tbf; as long as they provide a way to sink these items out of the game, I see no reason to physically add a well permenately.
I think it'll be a temporary well
I worry about what would be the payout of said well
im not the person to do this to. really makes me considering your points as less valid.
but it would be cool to see something like that from jagex
I see so many ways it could go wrong
relax dude I was just pointing something I saw in the article lol
I do however think a Statue should be added to the game showing the votes; I get its more of a PR act towards the removal of TH, but still would be cool to have the Statue added with examine text of how many people voted.
"you didnt read this article?"
Eh, as someone that is super hyped about the votes, I don't want a statue ingame
I want to wash my hands with the system and never see it mentioned in any way ingame again
Definitely no interest in a permanent addition
I'm not here to argue with you man
you sure are to inflame with things said like that
Also idk why you guys are picking on slim, the article is the big article this weeks that was details on MTX removal
I took it exactly as you did it
its like, the one big info thing after vote started
It could be incorperated into an Official Mimic Arena tbh; as lets be realistic; Mimic was orgined around TH, but realistically should be reworked to remove a lot of TH aspects but maintain the boss fight.
mimic boss in a more official capacity would be nice
and one of the statues could have an examine text indicating the total achieved votes for Integrity.
its not reaper crew required so iiwii if it were to be removed permanently. imo
Just add all cosmetics from removed content to the same place the removed item cosmetics will be
Or to the Stanley limelight shop
I'm new to the Discord and I"m really only here to say that I'm really upset about the removal of TH. I've worked like the devil to gather items etc and try and fill the collection chests in the POH will all the items to complete them and now it all just goes away. It really pisses me off and after almost twenty years of paid membership I'm seriously considerting quitting. Why was there no way to vote AGAINST removing TH and all the items? I guess Jagex wanted it gone and that was a way they convince themselves that they've been fair about it. I'm angry.....
What items are going away in your POH with the removal of TH?
Also, it was a validation poll. The surveys were where people were to vote against the removal
POH isnt related to TH and mtx items from what I can see
ah im wrong there is a section.
Toy box can hold th items
to my knowledge most of these arent being removed from the game
You must've missed the billion surveys then
Also looks like most if not all those items on that list can be stored by Diango FWIW
toybox literally IS diango
Lucky items are able to be stored funny enough.
Toy box is considered diango? Interesting game mechanic if it is.
Hmmm interesting the toy box shares the same interface and items as the item reclamation services from Diango apparently
I thought all the Lucky items were being removed? 😢
No way this guy thought TH meant clue scrolls hahahahaha
They are being removed yeah. I dont want them to tho 😿
I'm quite sad about it they look so nice for fashionscaping, I really hope that somehow they manage to stay or they can be replaced by a cosmetic version 🙏
The Jmods have noticed the feedback on lucky items as cosmetic overrides and it looks like they might be discussing them at some point
❤️
I have several keepsaked lucky items but sadly I never managed to get the Lucky Armadyl Chainskirt to complete that set it's so pretty literally hope I'd get it for years either from TH or those Twitch Prime caskets but sadly nope
Keep voting guys!!
I know we've met the threshold, but let's really send a message here!
I hear this. During some reddit posts on how to combat certain enemies for completion of certain quests, I was asked what my action bars were, and was told they were about the WORST they could be, and I was more or less sabotaging myself.
I’ve found the wiki bars more than suffice for general PvE
With PvME once I moved to actually bossing
When will the "lump sum" treasure hunter keys be distributed? Will there be an opportunity to purchase Premier Membership and have those keys disbursed when buying keys goes offline and after the new Premier items are released?
the only answer that can be provided for now is before the start of 2027
but you might get a more timely answer when the roadmap comes out in 4 days
Thanks. Roadmap it is!
Why are death touched darts getting removed in the maybe section
Just curious
I mean I don't mind it's removal just curious
Cus I know U can buy it at the trader guy
It's handy because no fomo or anything
But yeah
Some of these items mostly only exist due to being MTX items initially, and they do not like the impact they have on game balance
TL;DR they dont fit with the vision they have for the game
Not that strange its an insta-kill dart that also has a huge non-obvious exception list because of how strong it is
Same reason its barely working on any boss released the last half a decade
Oh awesome.
Those bars were written by pvme (unless they've since been edited) 😂
It looks like they haven't
Fair enough, I’ve long since learned not to assume lol
There was a big debate/argument/call it whatever which meant pvme no longer maintain it and removed their discord banner from the page. But as far as I can see, nothing has changed bar-wise so they're still the pvme ones basically
I know this because I was the one who designed the lvl 1-70 levelling bars (along with 2 other editors)
Nami and Tinky
Good
i never used them tbh
Penguins and effigy incubator are nice resets, other than that, could care less about em
january 2027*
you have plenty of time to use all of these
Aw, the D&D tokens are on the definitely nuke list?
May be nuke list
Oh, that’s fine
Because they’ll only get thanosd by the underlying timer problem being solved
thats a smol stack you got there 🫣
Effigy Incubator and Giant Oyster are the only things I use my resets on.
Time to use them on more to use them up 🙂
if you're chasing xp troll defence is worth it
We need 51 more votes!
So this day was coming weather the community desired it or not; realistically adding a no to the vote wouldn't of helped the cause; all it would of done is indicated you'd of been apart of the smaller minority towards keeping treasure hunter.
I understand this may feel disheartening; however I'd like to mention a couple things of note.
- It appears your not directly upset about the removal of Treasure Hunter but rather the items tied to it.
- Where the items your appeared to be upset about aren't even items most players are complaining about, additionally to the point these items have even been obtainable on ironman accounts.
That being said; I am trying to understand this; Do these items serve a purpose besides cosmetic overrides or collection log that I am unaware of?
If not; may I understand why the removal of said items would be upsetting besides the fact time spent obtaining them?
Where most players are upset about treasure hunter is how it impacts the games economy, and integrity towards game progression, and its this particular reason that players have dramatically over supported the removal of treasure hunter. Its never belonged in the game or properly intergraded into the games economy or integrity. Bare in mind; not all MTX is bad; but this one in particular was rooted bad to the core.
Players are offered a method to bypass game mechanics entirely to progress for cash.
Players are not directly offered the items they are intending to obtain, but rather forced to gamble for them.
These Items impact the cost of items in the player driven market devaluing majority of skilling methods.
These Items impacted the cost of market fluxuations based on current driven promotions
All of these primarily deriving from whoever has more Cash is capable to surpass other players with extremely limited limitation of how much is possible to surpass, (Example: A Friend Maxed his account many years ago completely with the use of Treasure Hunter Keys.)
Portables
Where these Items seem harmless to the economy and interaction to the game, the core issue with these items was the obsoletion of majority of the game locations for training to congregate players all to 1 directed skilling location and world.
The Core fundamental of having the benefit of placing the Portable being performed by the player is the core issue; thus these benefits may potentially be introduced in another way to the game at various locations, revitalizing various skilling locations to be appearing less "dead content"
Proteans
Where these items seem decent due to how AFK and quality of life for most players, these Items do not contribute nor participate within the games economy what so ever, instead completely obsoleting and bypassing it entirely.
The Core fundamental behaviour of Proteans not being craftable or providing output back into the games economy is its primary issue; the concept of them being AFKable or stackable isn't an issue in itself; and we may potentially see future changes to these skills or items that may make things better for the games health long term with the removal of these items.
Silverhawks
These items aren't directly on the removal list yet, however being heavily looked into by jagex for potential of removal. I have to admit the skill feels pointless in the modern age of the game beyond level 5, that is an issue in itself about the skill; therefore many players don't see enjoyable nor feel the skill exactly belongs in the game performing laps of a specified course. This skill as an entirety needs to be checked into and reviewed for potential improvements or changes, and honestly my opinion to how to improve this is potentially dramatically unpopular.
My thoughts on potential agility changes.
- Changes to Teleports/Loadstones.
- Loadstones shouldn't be a free teleport, therefore making the travelling the map more viable with the use of agility shortcuts as an alternative to runes required to teleport.
- If Teleports were to be reworked; Loadstones would absolutely require respective runes to their locations, and available on all spellbooks (with potential requirements for Lunar Isle exclusive for Lunar Spellbook, and Bandit Camp for Ancients Spellbook)
- Some Spells could be entirely reworked such as Fally Teleport could be merged with Fally Loadstone, Varrock with Varrocks, Camelot merged with both Seers village and Catherby and so forth.
Loadstones were one of the worst things to occur in regards to Agility feeling purposeful, primarily due to how common loadstones are available, therefore obsoleting the need for majority of agility shortcuts.
Another missed opportunity towards Agility was the use of scaled agility requirements for double surge/double escape and maybe a future integration of double dive.
- Surge/Escape should of required 20 Agility.
- Dive should of required 45 Agility.
- Double Surge/Escape should of required 80 Agility.
- Double Dive potentially could be 95 Agility.
These would provide more purpose towards the use of agility, training agility however also needs improvements, as repeating a course consistently shouldn't be the only method of training. We have various options available already in game that can be looked into further, including could bring more aspects towards skilling bosses to provide better experience rates of agility to make more fun methods.
The guy was literally confusing treasure hunter with treasure trails.
I didn't read that part 😂
however there was some Treasure Hunter Items introduced to the player owned house too 😛
Yeah, but it sounds way more like tt. Seems common enough too. Most complaints i see dont fully understand changes, or completely misunderstand them :/ (or dont want to play the game)
yep. sounds accurate.
I don’t think that was confirmed beyond a guess
Nah, not confirmed, but the fact that they havent come back and that theres little reason to think otherwise. You dont kit out a house specifically for th, or get excited to fill it.
It might have some functionality, but that wouldnt really be necessary to mention.
Whilst I don’t disagree it makes sense, it’s just a guess
Everything appeals to someone
Have we ever been informed any information towards this Combat Update? seems we've passed it and I don't recall anything being listed in regards to it yet? 😮 or did I miss something?
because Harvest Hallow and Leagues end tomorrow.
Too be fair, the small print at the bottom does say content is subject to change. Plus autumn isn't technically over for another month and a half. Still plenty of time to get the combat update out.
🔜
Though don’t expect anything game changing
Technically speaking, autumn doesn't end until December 21, if you use the astronomical definition. So, we still have quite a bit of time
With leagues over we can probably expect more actual update announcements. Id expect they'd have been mostly on hold
@clever jasper
Currently going through my bank and the list of MTX to be removed from game in 2027
Small knowledge bombs are not listed
Are they staying?
Shadow gem shard is not listed
Are they staying?
Token of heros is not listed
Are they staying?
If it gives you XP in any way, just assume it is
Assume they are staying?
Very safe to assume small knowledge bombs are going since "knowledge bomb" is on the deleted list
And small bombs are the only ones really given out 99% of the time
Then they should list "small knowledge bomb" as its own item.
"knowledge bomb" isn't even item since all different kinds have the size in the name
Applying a little bit of common sense would go along way
But for those shards yeah they're probably staying
Which is weird since the pestilence shard is being removed
It also doesn't talk about any of the other TH currency sigils either:
- Amascut Sigil
- Tumeken Sigil
- Death's Sigil
- Rasial's Sigil
- Phoenix Sigil
- Dark Phoenix Sigil
I was actually happy with the tokens and sigil promos
Means you habe tje ability to get the outfits over the course of multiple iterations. Instead of a 1 time fomo
Wonder if they will also reveal what the compensation for items being removed will be.
I have a full 48 hour dxp worth of protean logs, planks and traps. So 3 dxp events. Over 2k combat dummies and 200 agility dummies.
Nothing
Use them outside of dxp 🤷♂️
Gonna see what happens on the 12th first.
Knowlege bombs were included to the list; It just didn't specifically say Small Knowledge bomb, but I would assume the small is included with that.
Shadow Gem Tokens & Hero Token, they mentioned a lot of the extra currencies will be able to be traded in at somepoint to redeem for any last minute offers before being fully removed.
Knowledge bombs
Superior knowledge bombs
Were on the list, not small knowledge bombs. They are separate items
Holiday Currencies, Treasure Hunter Currencies, Oddments, all of them alike are compiled together and will be able to be traded in.
I get they are separate Items, however its extremely unlikely those items would remain.
theres so many MTX items theres definately always going to be ones that slip through the cracks when providing a full compiled list. as the list will only compile what they realize. Eventually youll see more information added to it over time.
It's like, why would they list the proteans as separate items in the list, but not list the different knowledge bombs as separate items.
"Knowledge bombs" isn't an existing items at al
It's really just a mistake calling them knowledge bomb instead of "small knowdledge bomb" most likely
You're arguing semantics when functionally, they are the same item
Since theres only the small / superior function that ever get seen?
haven't you ever heard of Jagex's inconsistencies? we've only been encountering them for 26 years.
I take it your new around here? 😉
If you are going to group the different sized knowledge bombs as a single item, why not say "proteans" instead of listing them individually
nvm i've never even seen the superior one. Prime knowledge bombs though i wonder about those
Example:
Look at end game tool tiers.
Level 1 | Level 95 | Level 99 | Level 100 but they are all equal 💀
Inconstency is what jagex is good at
Indeed they are.
Are they though?
supposed to be 💀 😂
Pretty sure a bronze hatchet isn't the same as the blight and bloom hatchet or whatever it's called
The level 1 is referencing as the Hunter Net.
which is equal to all the endgame tools.
I understand what you mean now 🙂
oh don't forget the t70 fishing rod which tbf, doesn't actually keep up with t100.
yeah each of those numbers are in reference to a different skills item.
another major inconsistency;
Masterwork.
Magic/Melee are both different, One has less stats with additonal steps 💀
masterwork melee: needs mining/smithing
Masterwork magic: mining, smithing, runecrafting, farming, crafting
Why?
Because why not
just so inconsistent
Would it make sense for the magic armour to only be smithed then?
Not everything needs to be 100% exactly the same across all styles
I like the excess skills, a little boring to have mw melee only be smithing
I'm starting to doubt we'll make it to the 200m xp mark on this poll
it was destined to fall off hard once the landmark goal was hit tbh lol
I'm all for the removal of MTX it's a blight on the game. I hope they extend this to bloody FOMO events! However I think it is unfortunate that the Yes vote wasn't set up differently. The No voters should have had a say if nothing else but to give a even view.
Secondly I wish we had a survey to the next step. What the majority wanted to stay in one form or another. This would have given every player a feeling of controling where we go from here.
I feel blindsided by some of the items to go. They were not all gained through TH. They didn't come with an expiry date. They were a reward one way or another and as a maxed player I have no outlet to use them atm but was hoping to use in the future. I am hoping I will be compensated one one or another.
The items that are to be removed better not come back in as a buy option or FOMO in one form or another.
They did have a no vote.... In the last 12 months of surveys and other community outreach Jagex ran
People need to get over it
Agree, however if it was set up differently it wouldn't make the No player base feel so angst. I understand their frustration. Myabe had it been clearer TH is going and vote on how far we go, maybe the second part of my post .... a questionaire on what players want removed from game.
not necessary, anything that compromises the integrity of the game is going, its quite simple
i think the key word here is bypass, if you're given something from bought keys, daily keys, any sort of purchased good or freebie, and that something can be used to bypass engaging with the core gameplay, then its going
MTX had them add a bunch of things they would never have added otherwise, purely to try to get people to buy keys, that they recognise are harmful to the game and game balance
Not everything is going, skilling outfits will remain for instance
Items are going that are obtainable in other ways through game play. Through membership monthly rewards, from mystery reward boxes from events etc. Not all these items were only obtained through TH keys or rl $.
Yes, but some of these items are considered harmful even then, and they're using this as an opportunity to be rid of them once and for all
For example, there is a reason that death-touched darts have not been usable for almost any boss released in the last half a decade
The issue is that its an insta kill dart, even if its obtainable via Travelling Merchant as well as TH
these are some of the freebies i mentioned in my previous message
I hear you or the sentiment. Part of me goes well just stop making them available and they will leave the game as they are used or sit in someones bank. The other part of me knows it then will be holding item space and hmm ?data space.
I hope they will reimburse ppl appropriately. Rl $ and game gp has been used.
I have bought very few keys :/ only when the will has been weak. Prob can be counted on one hand. But I have a crazy amount of these items through one means or another. I am maxed so I'm not going to be using most of these items up. I hear ppl saying then you have no use for them. However new skills come out. Jx changes things all the time, RS3 is very unpredictable. i honestly will be mightly pissed if I get peanuts for them.
Players have been given time to use up their resource by the 1st of jan 2027
Thats the expiration date for removal of items
You do mention new skills, but its pretty evident I think that if they introduce a new skill, not only will they not add any new items (no new protean, no new portable etc you could convert to), but they also don't want these old MTX items to have any effect on any new skill.
Usually new skills have released with a 6 month pause on most if not all sources of extra xp, even things like tears of guthix.
I wouldn't worry about future use for items that they outright want to delete
I think that is awesome that they have given such a long time. However as a 200m maxed player a majority of items wont get used.
I get you want to keep them as a bit of a "just in case you never know", but Jagex is pretty much saying "there won't be any case" with them being removed
If you're 200m maxed in everything their purpose is largely spent
Many of the complaints people have with current skills can be resolved by adjustments to to the skills. Lots of people don't like engaging with certain skills, like agility. Or maybe the early game skilling experience was just terrible to them. So they use mtx to skip grinds and progression. The Jmods plan to fix that by tackling the specific skills people don't like engaging with as well as discussing exp progression
But it's important that they don't let people just continue to keep their stockpiles of proteans and the like
I get that but I will feel robbed and penalised if the compensation is peanuts. If I could sell them I would have. If I could trade them to another player I would but they are not.
The compensation cannot be huge as that would just negatively impact game economy and health
I like the direction the game is going in. I really do. But I played the game as it is. Jx insisted on milking mtx to the max despite years of backlash. Yay finally listening. However I don't want to be penalised, so I really hope Jx is going to compensate appropriately.
We can't exchange them for equivalent items, as we'd crash the economy of anything that gets exchanged
We can't exchange them for meaningful amount of gold, as we'll cause huge inflation
I don't really know how we can compensate for these items
The main issue with conversion to equivalent resources or to exp credits or direct exp is that it doesn't mesh well with the whole vision of integrity for the game, since you'd still be allowing people to directly or indirectly skip progression as well as warping demand for skilling items
In particular when part of the request is compensation for things beyond their use
maybe all of the mtx items can be exchanged for a construction rework, the more exchanged, the better the rework
If you've already exhausted the point of these rewards (and I get you, I've exhausted some of them)
then what are you losing?
like, protean bars only have value for xp, or being converted to other proteans
So everyone gets roughly 14 months to use up theirs
If there is no reason to use them currently for a player because their use is exhausted, the item already don't really have value
i'd be down for some kind of store where you can chuck em for some ol' cosmetics
Doubly so when Jagex is making it clear there is never going to be a new protean that they could convert to
The cynic in me just doesn't trust Jx. They have alot to make up for.
Very understandable
There are potentially* some items that could stay in some form or another like portables. But they would not remain as powerful as they are now
Like, I do get what you mean, even though I personally just tossed all my proteans into deletion with not a second thought
Its just that compensation is very hard to do without harming the game further
It seem to me the simplest route is just the one Jagex seem to be looking at. Use up in a generous time frame, then outright removal.
Anyone that has stuff they want to use got time, if there is something that isn't worthwhile to be used then probably no need for compensation either.
We'll see how it works out, the more detailed newspost will be in 2 days
I would be happy with free membership, Free past TH cosmetics I honestly don't know. I hear what you are saying.
Yes, I am hanging out to see what they release. I really hope it answers alot.
I've seen membership, though figuring out a conversion rate on 200 items that people have massive stacks on seem like a headache
You don't want to give too many because subscription is their biggest source of revenue and giving everyone hundreds of days of membership would be a financially unsound idea
But if you're the opposite of generous in such a case you'll get a lot of complaints from people with stacks that are below qualifying level
Yes I see the no win situation so I hope they come up with a satisfying solution.
Fwiw they’ve mentioned in passing the idea of a “Well of Integrity” style event
hope theres a funny title for large amounts donated
So you want to be compensated for a bunch of trash you've collected gambling, thats also currently useless to you?
Sounds like you're just opportunistically trying to get value from nothing more than actually having any sort of problem with the removal
Imo, there should be no reimbursement with the time available to use them. If you dont, it either didnt matter or they had no value in the firstplace (assuming its not a cosmetic)
I have played the game within it's boundaries. I have bought very minimal keys. The items have been obtained through many diff facets of this game and not all through TH.
I am insulted by your comment. It is just hateful and completely lacking in any compassion or any attempt to understand.
-shrugs- so, i guess what i said was true. it doesnt really matter how you got items, because realistically, th was in the game, so it was legitimate as well. these things are being removed because they are problematic, so it doesnt really matter how you got them, only that you have a realistic time frame to use them, which.. a year is more than enough.
and as you said, you're already max, so had no intention of ever using these things.
-shrug-
They have no value to you.
They have value to me.
sure, but i also bet treasure hunter as a whole has value to a minority of people, yet is still getting removed.
id also argue that large scale reimbursement in any 'tradable' or currency form goes against the entire ideology that removing treasure hunter is going for
I voted Yes. I understand the problem. I'm glad it's being addressed albeit way to late. Wanting compensation of some sort for the thousand of items is not unrealistic. Being called opportunist and Implying I should just take one for the team is just mind blowing. But we will have to agree to disagree.
but that was my point. what you want in return goes against the entire point of removing treasure hunter..
its not really ab out 'taking one for the team'. its that the stuff you have from it was ruining the game, and its never too late to fix that issue
well, too late would be when the game is dead.
A well of integrity would be nice
Where you can toss in your mtx stuff
I have a bunch sitting in my bank that I'm too lazy to use
If there was a quick solution to toss it out I'll take it
I think I deleted a bunch of proteans in my bank
It depends on the items you have, but you should be able to convert / use up proteans and dummies next DXP to earn DXP tokens, which you can use for some stuff in the DXP token store.
At least it's an option if Jagex doesn't mention something else in a couple days.
award a few titles for it and you'll achieve neuron activation in many
Omg convert maybe that's my answer for some of it. I so wish unstable was convertible as well.
award titles for 'gp value' and allow them in the other well we have, so that everyone has access to them, and noone should complain
since its just buying a title or using that crap
Yes unfort that is my problem and maybe in a year I will have processed it enough to just let it go.
Honestly?
Are we sure that DXP tokens will survive the integrity roadmap?
Will be useable next dxp though you're right there
Good question since half the store is basically things they want to delete from the game as much as possible
If theres is no compensation for items purchased how can i trust purchaseing anything further that they might just up and decide to remove later. Kinda like when your primier runs out you lose the cosmetics you gotten from purchaseing it .
I'll bite. What kind of compensation would be fair to get for your refusal to use up all your proteans and such
And please also keep in mind that simply flooding the economy with items isn't good
idek what would even be acceptable compensation tbh. i think the time given is a lot. i have maybe 13k proteans to burn through but even though i can play like 1 day a week, even i think i can go through those proteans before they disappear
yeah it's like what. 700ish proteans per hour to use?
so lets give that a rough estimaion of 20 hours of afking to use all 13k of your proteans
and if i wanted to save them for dxp, that maybe 3 dxp's to use them on? assumming they go to 2 dxp's a year
I think just leaving them in game to be used whenever would work, instead of deleting them and giving compensation . It’s not like new skills would be supported.
Being able to clean up the code is nice by being able to delete them all
And any underlying things that benefit from full deletion
This isnt related to how mtx works in nearly all games. Most do have a clause to use up keys etc within a timeframe. Without compensation.
If they dont have to compensate for expiring keys you buy, in what way would it apply for the 14 month time period given to use mtx items?
What would you propose would be a sensible replacement without adding to items, gp or economy?
Late response... of course its been hours.
Removing proteans is unavoidable when you remove treasure hunter. Otherwise that afk training method stays in the game and new players have no access to it. They hear people in their clan talking about training skills with proteans and then they look it up and find that they can't do that anymore. That would be stupid.
