Depends on topography of the network.

When I did (very small - 2-3 racks) server room designs, one rack had the switch that connected that room to the rest of the building / internet. So that rack would have to come up first before the others could.

Depending on how the DC is laid out, they may have a "primary" rack for a given cluster of racks.

I moved to bisect from another host....a year or two ago? Only two outages the entire time, first time was resolved really quick and this time they've been quite transparent. It's been a dream honestly. Easy to manage on my end, so while the timing def sucked for you, I'd stick it out with 'em.

The Atlanta servers and Seattle servers have been fully fixed, and Dallas is currently 99% there as well. There's a handful of Dallas servers that are still having some issues, staff is looking into it but if your server still does not work 30 minutes after this message, please make a ticket and support will take a look for you to get you back up and running ASAP as well! (Please allow a little longer than the usual response time for tickets, support has been swamped for a while <3)

As a mod I want to thank everyone for being as patient as was possible despite the situation being incredibly frustrating and stressful for everyone involved! You guys were (for the largest part) super awesome about everything. Also huge shout out to every community member helping out where they can, and of course to Bisect staff for working their behinds off this weekend! You guys are awesome!

It's not a role that's given to people specifically, it's automatic if you hit the required level haha

when Kim reset the roles, I and some others quickly jumped to the top because we emit that much text. You can jump down to #🤖bot-commands to see your levels and those of others, also #🤖levels

I think she gave us super high level chatters the hero role to start. but even then.

hello! i just got off of work and finally got some time to read into the support channel, so i understand that dellas and etc servers are down; i do trust bisect community team. Truthfully, from what i have read, you guys seem very helpful and have a nice community, im thankful for that. I understand that it can take a bit of time to find the solution, but i just want to know, what is best for me and your team to do? Would you like me to pause my mc server, etc etc? I want to help aid the stress of finding the issue, and on my part, know if my money is going to be lost for these days. I apologize, im really bad at discord and texting here.

My Dallas server came back online a little while ago! Just wanted to give a quick thanks to the Bisect team for working on this, sounded like quite the hassle.

From what I've gathered they've been coming back on slowly, and mine finally did. It'll happen 🙂 The red banner is still on my page, but the server stopped perpetually "loading", and allowed me to actually start it.

Couldn't tell ya there... My 7 Days to Die server was already configured, and was able to start up no problem once it actually came back. No file corruption or anything.

My server is for Minecraft. We were still configuring it while the players were progressing until a problem with the servers appeared. They offered to move the server to Virginia with the option of using the last backup they had or transferring it without any files. We decided to move it without any files since we had our own backup, but even after the change was made, it didn’t work. We are currently waiting for a solution from the nodes to see if that fixes it, but the panel works from time to time.

We considered the server migration to a different location but decided against it, basically for the reasons you're describing. I think it would have complicated things. I decided to do chores around the house and longingly check the server status over the last 48ish hours lol.

This entire ordeal has been absolutely ridiculous. While it was not our fault, I still hold ourselves accountable because it’s our responsibility to figure out how we can do better. We exist to provide the best customer support and experience in the industry, and there’s always room for improvement.

The reason some systems are still down is that we learned our equipment wasn’t just cut off from the network—it was physically powered down. We believe this was done abruptly, likely using the circuit breakers, rather than in a controlled, graceful manner. Hosting equipment that has been running 24/7 for years doesn’t respond well to such sudden power loss, and this is something you never want to do in a data center environment.

As a result, we’ve had to deal with dead network switches that needed replacing, tripped PDUs, and servers that are struggling to come back online. Our team is diligently working to address these issues and get everything back up and running as quickly as possible.

On a positive note, we’re making promising progress toward ensuring that nothing like this can happen again in the future.
