The tips given on this concept were given based on a very strong thematic start. The sprite was already a fantastic idea, deepening the textures on a huge surface like that was the obvious next step to me. If you want to get better at your own concepts you'll have to learn how to judge a concept. I was taught how to critique art in college as well as how to identify how much effort was likely applied, vs how hard it would be for an untrained artist to recreate it.
