Life event happened and I have now lost almost all motivation to sprite for this contest

hiya! im kinda new to this server but i wanted to try my hand at spriting for the memories contest that was recently announced, but im kinda stuck on where to go in terms of colors for my sprite. i dont know if i should stick with the normal haunter/honckrow colors or if i can spice it up a bit and go with colors from older gen sprites, any feedback for that? (also if im not in the right channel for this pls let me know 🙏)

might be better in #spriting-discussion but to answer your question, we use gen 5 sprite colors, and the colors are based on the head so in the case you'd be using Honckrow's colors #spriting-guidelines message

You can use extra colors if you have specific ideas, like I see you wanted to add little cards, those could be a different random color

Another thing to keep in mind is that the sprite should be roughly the same size as the body (haunter in this case) - easy to make things too large when free-handing

I reccomend drawing on top of an existing haunter sprite when starting out just to help with sizing
