So far the contests have been announced at the same time as a new mon is confirmed, which isn't long after the contests close.

Yeah if it follows the same time frame Saturday is the day they announce the new addition. If I am recalling correctly last week was early due to Kiwi not being open on Saturday to make the announcement. So, unless they say otherwise in #pif-hoenn-discussion that's when I'd expect the next one. And the contest announcement shortly after (remember, one of the rules is you can only submit sprites made after the contest announcement, not the Pokémon reveal)

i think there's value to be had in a pokemon beyond its appearance tbh? certain thematic and design elements can also play a huge part in fusions

gastly, koffing, voltorb, and solosis are all basically orb but it's the theming and details that make them distinct
