I did try to incoorporate feedback and make them more of a fusion, inserting effects and things to try to make them more substantial. it was far more obnoxious when i would ask what i could do to make it better and get "bruh idk just don't make the sprite suck" as a response, or when i would add a lot of nice effects and try to give the sprite personality and get called lazy with no further feedback. Surprisingly, I like obtaining information on how to improve my sprites and will get slightly annoyed if someone just says "lazy/bad" and makes me have to fight them to give me any hints on how to make the sprite better.

On paper a good idea

But when you get into the nitty gritty it falls apart

Sponsored contests are double elimination try and be as fair to each participant as possible, if you add a completely seperate bracket with these same rules, it causes complications

In truth, this is the first time that the # of participants has been too big for Challonge to handle, so I don't really have an alternative ready

But I did all the time consuming stuff, got all the passed prelim sprites into 1 folder, renamed with their creator's name in the file name, and then got a list of those file names in a text file

Yeah, that's the big issue here. You gotta be careful when it comes to sponsoreds, you want an "as even as possible" playing ground, so it's the skill of the spriter and the sprite that matters, not other factors (AKA im/possible matchups due to a second bracket)

If I cannot find a better solution though, then that's what it'll have to be

It's not an issue of loser bracket being seperate

It's an issue of there being too many participants

The best I've been able to think of is still a....unideal situation

Day one will have like 200 polls if both the winner's bracket and loser's bracket are done at the same time

Best is just to split it up over multiple days again

well it could, cause each bracket would have 230. the losers bracket could go an extra round maybe? the losers face the losers, then rnd 2 of the losers bracket is another round of 230 (115 from rnd 1 of losers and the 115 who lost rnd 1 of the winners bracket)

start.gg (previously smash.gg) can handle more than 400 users in double elimination format, the problem is that the competitors would need to check into their website themselves
