I think animations should be allowed because in the end, contests are there to give people motivation to make amazing art. And not allowing animations just loweres the level of amazingness that is possible.
It is also not fair to say that you have to animate a sprite to win. Your chances increase for sure, but going above and beyond on a non-animated sprite also increases your chances, so that doesnt really count for me
And I mean... I myself are the perfect example on that you can win a contest even without animating or being an absolute spriting genuis. If you really really wanna win a contest to get a funky blue name tag, making an animation should not be your highest priority. Your highest priority should be to become a regular in contests and to improve with every entry you do. Animating it is like step 2 or 3 or something. And that is why I'm against banning them
