There's some theories that scarlet and violet were originally going to be set in a China based region. but they changed it to Spain partway through development to steer clear of any China related controversy. I personally have liked Insurgence, Reborn and Rejuvenation and lot, I've also been enjoying Myth and Vanguard recently. Just know that Reborn and Rejuvenation both are pretty hard, but maybe have an easy mode? I don't fully remember. Also both of those and Insurgence have darker storys to them but also I believe all have a softer option that you can pick if you don't want as dark of a story.
