Bless :) I appreciate! Ultimately what I'd need are spriters, and possibly another coder and someone clever enough to work out the hill problem (this was literally the thing that virtually kiled our project, coding for hills/slopes in an isometric 2D tileset based overworld)

However I now now realise that it's possibly easier to make a 3d rendering of the map, apply a pixelation filter over the rendering, and make all other stuff like sprites for mons, people and flowers 2D sprites

Will also remove the need for normal mapping every overworld sprite

It's like Rhyhorn's upper half with a mermaid tail, but there's still an interplay between the halves. I thought it was one of Kiwi's Mermay fusions but it's actually not, though it works enough as one for me. 😅

I do agree that it feels a bit weird as of now, but if we are allowed to bring up personal opinions, I'd say just putting a rescaled head on a recolored body is neither fun nor nice-looking, especially in this case
