My pleasure! Gimp is more of a general image manipulation program like photoshop but it's very easy to use for pixel art. (if you do pick Gimp:) one thing you'll wanna do is simply set your brush to the pixel brush and make sure the hardness is at 100% so it doesn't blend colors or create semi-transparent spots

just in case you didn't read this from the spriting guidelines yet,, we make sprites as 96x96, and then scale them up to 288x288 (x3) to put in the game (so the pixels are the right size but appear large enough on the screen, etcetera)

Idea if have for adding minecraft dungeons' weapons to the game, being able to use templates to turn your sword into any of these other versions, all withh different stats and possibly effects. Will do the same for bows

Well I think you translated it beautifully from your drawing (wow). And while the "brand" is pretty darn varied, I think this core look will go great; however, there are some things you'll need to do to get the sprite fully into the game's style that I think will make it look better and more on brand as well. Mostly thinking of outlines and shading. All PIF sprites have black and shaded outlines so you'll pretty much need to add that,, I think it'll help the look lots in the end tho. And as for shading, adding another shade of yellow or two, so you can add highlights to the main body/foreground and break up/shade the legs in the background, will do wonders for getting this fully on brand.

The best way to get good-looking outlines is to make sure that they are smooth; especially when it comes to curves. The length of line segments should increase in size gradually and in order, e.g. 1-1-2-2-3-5, and NOT go up and down in length, e.g 1-2-1-3-2-5. To put it simply: A two pixel long line should only be followed by either a one, two or three pixel long line and so on. Long lengths of same-size segments (e.g. diagonal lines of single pixels) also look very rigid and should only be used on intentionally angular things like rocks, never on organic shapes.

Outlines should never be all black or all colored in. They should be shaded using black where the lines touch the shadowed areas, and colored using the darkest shade where the lines touch the corresponding main shades and highlights. Sometimes, the shadow color can be used for the outlines in the very top left of sprite where the lines touch highlights, too. Refer to the original sprites to get an idea of how they shaded the sprites if you're unsure.

"Jaggies" should also be avoided: Jaggies are unintentional corners or jagged edges that can occur in spritework when they don't follow a proper curve.

Staircasing happens when a line is too thick. Line segments should only touch at the corners of the pixels and not be connected to make a continuous line.

The light source on Pokémon battle sprites is always in the top left and in front of the Pokémon. This means highlights are in the top left, and that shadows are in the bottom right of almost every part of a sprite.
The amount of shading and shape of the shadows has a big impact on the perceived volume and depth of the sprite, so it's important to get those right. Usually, the original sprites of the Pokémon you are fusing are a good reference for that.
Body parts that are on top or in front of other parts also cast a shadow on the parts that are under or behind them, so don't forget to add those when you add new features to a base. It was a challenge to myself to make something from literally just random lines I drew a long time ago

The entire thing with the exception of two images used as just two individual frames originally are both zoomed in from a prior piece of art

Then there's a secondary animation of the eye moving which was about 8 photos of my own eye (i also made that into its own separate animation

All in all the original source imagery for the visuals is based on just 12 images everything else is a modification of those images. Farther still except those two frames I mentioned and the eye that moves everything is from one image.

This image alone was altered to create and animate most of that

Ledifetch'd is a Bug/Flying type. It wields 4 plant stalks and fights with a style completely unique to it. On starry nights, they gather in groups to test their skills against each other.

Okay, this is a more realistic crawl animation. The first and last frames are nearly the same, just offset, because I didn't want it too look weird looping.

One is six frames, one is seven, I was just trying to account with it looking weird when he resets in position on the frame the loop ends.
