I'd say i'm relatively new to digital art, so, feedback on this one'd be appreciated!
Been struggling a lot on the shading, as the idea is that there's a red light directly infront of him

I think a more bottom up lighting could work a bit better? You'd have much of the similar effect but with a better sense of direction for shadows

Otherwise this looks great! 👍

I don't think you need to give up on the lighting direction.
For the yellow parts, your red lighting is darker than the shadows. Even if the light is colored, shining a light on something shouldn't subtract brightness. If you want an easy way to do it, color in the character's flats as their red-light-shining-on-them versions first, and then on another layer apply a blue multiply layer. Erase the blue wherever the light hits the character. The blueness of the shadows will help the lighting read as red light.
Something that's holding this style of lighting back a bit is the lack of a background. If you also had a background that had the colors muted by blue shading, there would be more information allowing us to put things together to tell what the colors look like in white light.
Lighting directions that match the view tend to have most of the shadows hidden from view, so remember that most of the shade and shadows will be blocked from view by what's casting them. If you are struggling with three-dimensionality because of the lighting angle, if your current lighting angle is important to you, you can always add secondary and tertiary lighting sources to cast subtle light in different directions.
I'm assuming the face and hair being black is an artistic choice that means his appearance is hidden by shadows, but it stands out as odd when the rest of the character is so light. You may want to reduce the intensity of the lighting or put the whole top half in shadow.

Other than that, just don't be afraid to have the shadows be much darker than the lighting

Also an easy way to make lighting look like lighting is just to use an add layer 👍 if it becomes too "white", just lower the transparency of the lighting layer until it looks good and add another to brighten up the middles if needed after

As I do agree that the red lighting on the yellow doesn't rlly look like lighting

(Also my fave thing to do when shading is just making a dark layer on top, turning it to colour burn or a darken effect layer, then carve out the light by erasing 👍 it's easy to make yourself go to light on shadows when you're adding them, but subtracting makes it easier to visualize as you go and gives credence to chunkier shadows)

but piskel isn't all that bad, it just doesn't have a lot of features. it's totally usable if you don't feel good using complex softwares and don't mind the lack of some functions

you learn one, you learn em all

Inteldra is a Water/Dragon type. Known as "the Dragon Sniper," Inteldra sees any other Dragon type as competition & will snipe pressurized water at them. They've shot down so many Dragonites that many will tread with caution across oceans.

yes! but sometimes the features still carry over in some sprites, like with the mudkip/rockruff fusion i have there! rockruff is also the body in that one, but the sprite artist kept the ears, muzzle, eyes, etc
