When randomizing the game, you can only randomize Trainers and Gym leaders if you are playing Classic or Randomized Mode.

Randomizing trainers on Remix and Expert Mode will crash trainer battlers.

Steps:

  1. Go to a Pokemon Center and talk to Help Man (guy in black suit)
  2. Select Advanced Settings -> Randomizer Settings -> Turn Trainers/Gyms OFF

The error you are having is due to a corrupted save in your save folder conflicting with your current save.

Note: Ensure you know which save file is corrupted before continuing. You can see the save slot on the save selection screen.

  1. Open your game folder
  2. Double click SaveFile
  3. Delete the save file causing issues.
  4. If you don't know which it is, you can remove the save 1 by 1 from this folder until you find it

If you want to revert your save to a backup, use ?tag backups for more info.

The only official sources to download the game are here, the game's subreddit or the pokecommunity thread.

To clean out your computer:

  1. Delete all the save files from the fake files. It's not recommended to keep these, as they have bugs and fake data that the normal game doesn't have.
    🔵 Your game folder has a shortcut that you double click named Savefile to take you to the location to delete all save files. They are named File A.rxdata.
  2. Delete any zipped/unzipped folders from there
  3. Run a virus scan

After doing all the steps, use #downloads to download the real files.

Be aware, controllers will be auto mapped to buttons depending on which controller you plug in.

Hey @civic arch! To unlock randomized mode: Create a new game, save in Pallet Town, and create a 2nd new game. More options will appear since the 1st save is locked to Classic Mode.

Our randomizer doesn't offer true randomization meaning each Pokemon or item you find is **not ** going to be random each time. Instead we offer the below for Pokemon:
Global:

  • Makes it so that if Pidgey was randomized to Pikachu on route 1, all Pidgeys on all routes are Pikachu.

Area:

  • Better randomization than Global. Makes it so that each route has their own randomized set of encounters.

Yeah, any crashes without error msges are generally on the device end.
the error to me looks like the game is failing to set a variable, then trying to call that variable when rendering a map.

could be a memory issue.

Have you tried giving your device a restart? it sounds like the classic fix, but often helps.
by using the actual windows restart option, not turning it off and on again

I've installed and uninstalled multiple times, both versions that are available, but for some reason sprite icons are missing. Some sprites it's the split icon itself and others it's just the fused version. I have no idea why it's happening or how to fix it as I first downloaded the game a couple days ago and haven't touched anything file wise. All non-fused Pokemon are showing as normal though. Help please 🥲 this is driving me nuts...

How to Update to the Latest Version (Windows)

  • If you're on or above 6.4.2, double click INSTALL_OR_UPDATE.bat to update.
  • If you're below 6.4.2, you must either reinstall in a NEW folder (since the updater won't work due to bugs) or use the New Launcher to update.
  • Reinstalling doesn’t remove or require you to move any Save Files.
  • If playing on a Randomized save, make sure to reshuffle after updating. Use ?tag reshuffle if you need help.

Cool, then likely it just selected a new sprite while you hit a download cap.

technical speak real quick:

  • the game comes with all sprites pre-installed, except for the last 2 packs

  • these last 2 packs are automatically downloaded in the background while you play. however the speed of this is severely limited.

  • when first encountering a pokemon, the game selects a random sprite.

  • there is a good chance it selected a sprite that is in the last 2 packs, but not fully downloaded yet.

so think of it this way, a random selection of 1 of all of the below.
anything green = no problem.

anything red = depends on if autodownload has finished.

Beware of Unofficial Websites That Claim To Be Official.

The only official sources to download the game are here, the game's subreddit or the pokecommunity thread.

To clean out your computer:

  1. Delete all the save files from the fake files. It's not recommended to keep these, as they have bugs and fake data that the normal game doesn't have.
    🔵 Your game folder has a shortcut that you double click named Savefile to take you to the location to delete all save files. They are named File A.rxdata.
  2. Delete any zipped/unzipped folders from there
  3. Run a virus scan

After doing all the steps, use #downloads to download the real files.

Hey, I'm having an issue downloading on mac. The download goes fine and I can see it in my browser (chrome) but then when I try and open it from there it just says "Removed", for both whiskey and the actual game. The only official sources to download the game are here, the game's subreddit or the pokecommunity thread.

To clean out your computer:

  1. Delete all the save files from the fake files. It's not recommended to keep these, as they have bugs and fake data that the normal game doesn't have.
    🔵 Your game folder has a shortcut that you double click named Savefile to take you to the location to delete all save files. They are named File A.rxdata.
  2. Delete any zipped/unzipped folders from there
  3. Run a virus scan

After doing all the steps, use #downloads to download the real files.

How to restore to a backup save

This only works if you had Auto Save turned on and using 6.4+

  1. Open your game folder
  2. Double click SaveFile
  3. Double click the folder named backups
  4. Double click the folder of the save slot you’re reverting. Ex: File A
  5. Rename the most recent file to File A.rxdata (The letter will be different if you’re reverting a different save slot)
  6. Copy the newly renamed file and paste it into the previous folder. (This will be the folder you had open after step 2) When asked to replace, click yes.

Note: If you don't feel comfortable overriding the save, you can rename it to a different letter on step 5. Ex: File B.rxdata instead of File A.rxdata

Im playing on android, When i play, After the meowth text, doesn't show any loading screen and just loads the Gengar fusion animation, But then it's just black screen but the bg plays.

If i press enter while Gengar animation is on, It'll just freeze but still plays the same Bg as before

i cant seem to launch the game. i downloaded the newest version and installer. i have the new launcher. i was following the "how to" guide.
it was going fine until step 7. instead of "install" it just said "play." when i click play, the game launches, then closes.
I've gone and found the "install_or_update" file and launched that, and im still having the same issue

When randomizing the game, you can only randomize Trainers and Gym leaders if you are playing Classic or Randomized Mode.

Randomizing trainers on Remix and Expert Mode will crash trainer battlers.

Steps:

  1. Go to a Pokemon Center and talk to Help Man (guy in black suit)
  2. Select Advanced Settings -> Randomizer Settings -> Turn Trainers/Gyms OFF

In our 6.4+ update, the reason your game is opening and closing is due to a bug with the updater. We mention in #downloads that it is best for this update to reinstall the game, and not update ANY files versions 6.4.2 and below. Reinstalling doesn't remove or require you to move any Save Files.

Going to sound weird, but turn off WiFi/internet on your device and try again. For some reason, even though your internet might be working just fine, something about this game clogs it up. Once you are in game, if issue persists, turn off Download Data as well.

If you accidentally put the files used for updates into your recycle folder, how do yoh retrieve them and place them back in working order? I can’t seem to get my game to update and I was told by another tech support member it was because I didn’t have an update file.

well end of the day the issue you are having only happens when you launch preformance.exe so to stop your issue dont launch that exe and launch game.exe instead
