In every season and every episode both characters are the same as before... except for the modern day episodes but you get the point!
They still have their "DOH" and "OH CRAP" catchphrases or whatever Peter says all the time but many people growing up watching both shows has either moved on because now in the 2020s things have changed and the recent seasons and episodes are all the same and had many changes since they have adapted to modern technology etc, but I agree with the long term viewers of both shows, they aren't funny anymore and they aren't the same as classic episodes over 30 years ago (26 years for Family Guy as I do believe the very first episode was released in 1999 which was the same year as the first Spongebob episode)

But thanks to the success of games like Darkest Dungeon, Balatro, StS, Cult of Lamb, Vampire Survivors... People realized you could make roguelikes in virtually any genre. That’s why we now even have Pokémon roguelikes or Fire Emblem roguelikes. It’s hard to imagine someone being *completely * allergic to roguelike elements as a whole
