Last I checked it disables none of these and if it ever had it must've been years ago by now

Mage is my favourite class in Terraria because I don't have enough braincells to think about dodging

So picking a class that either has crazy homing or shits out DPS is a very good way to circumvent having to think about that

Also, Mage progression skips go absolutely crazy

If you rush Vilethorn, you basically can just camp demons through walls until you get pre boss Demon Scythe

And then all of Pre Hardmode becomes free

And then progression skipping to Duke grants the 2 best examples of crazy homing and DPS

My preferred weapon for beating pre mechs duke is the Spirit Flame. It can be annoying to craft but it is well worth it IMO

Anyways once you beat Duke, congrats! You get the nutty homing of Razorblade Typhoon and the frankly ridiculous DPS of the Bubble Gun

You basically have things free all the way until Moon Lord

It isn't the only class that benefits that massively off an early Duke tbf

Ranger getting an early Tsunami goes wild

But it is also the only one that can skip Pre HM like crazy

Jungle Armor is pre boss, Demon Scythe is pre boss

You get those 2 (through an admittedly annoying grind for the former) and Pre Hardmode is yours

I personally like the diamond mage staff it is OP

Early game atleast

Although can be hard to find diamonds

Demon Scythe and Jungle Armor being pre boss is just crazy

Considering they're probably the best options for a Mage vs Wall of Flesh

You can get these items in early Pre Hardmode

And they can carry you all the way to Hardmode

Terraria Progression is so perfectly fucked up in this way and I love it

Nothing is ever stopping you from becoming ridiculously overgeared if you want apart from your own mentality

This also applies and is even exaggerated by Calamity, where you can get to Exo Mechs/SCal in like what, 4 bosses?

Though at that point you're skipping so much you're now undergeared

Well, for the bosses you're fighting

But then you have like 50 million bosses you can go back to with literal endgame gear
