There's also the fact that since Terraria has random elements and gameplay besides mobility and combat (contrary to mod maker's belief) when you lose a run you've just lost a particular instance, and a new run has new terrain, new placements of objects and new biome arrangements so there's a level of new experiences.
Meanwhile in a Steel Soul run if you lose you're gonna be getting through the exact same game again with a dunce hat for having lost.
