Curse can kill pretty well anything and bypasses a lot of defenses, whilst Substitute provides some damage reduction, stat debuff immunity and status proc' immunity.

While Curse is ticking down enemy HP by thicc percentile chunks and your Substitute is taking blows, just keep pounding.

If the enemy is immune to Normal hits and can survive the Curse via constant healing tho', you may need to swap with another pokemon to deal enough damage to overcome said healing with hits they ain't immune to.

Case and point: I had an enemy which transformed into my Mimikyu/Lopunny... And they're immune to Pound, of course.
