There will always have two sides of people who care for one or the other or both. Slaking is very popular because some people likes powerful mons. Gardevoir is very popular because some people likes very petty mons.

In the end of the day, you building a team with your favourite Pokémon or you spriting your favourite Pokémon is not a waste of time. You've gained knowledge and skill eitherway. You get to play, strategize, draw and think better even if it's not going to be in this game specifically.

This whole hating on this Mon in particular isn't doing anyone favours. Because there is some people who likes them.
