It’s also partially because duplicates aren’t allowed because it’s a vote, not a raffle. On a raffle two slots for archeops did give it better odds, but in a vote it kinda just puts slurpuff on the list… twice…

But I also agree a raffle leaves it much more up to chance who the winner will be, bringing anticipation and excitement towards the big reveal. Instead, a vote makes it too obvious that “yeah Golisopod takes this no contest” hence many people are more lukewarm towards the special vote since it’s kinda already revealed

Ok it’s gonna be a little long winded if you don’t know much about the vote so bear with me:

13 winners participate: 6 sprite contest winners, 6 showdown tourney winners, 1 dex entry winner. All winners have their own vote where they vote for all the other winner’s choices. The winner of that vote is added to the game. (Note that it’s also slightly weighted towards spriters as spriters can win showdown tourneys but showdown players can’t really sprite)

The Mon that wins the special vote must appeal to both spriters and competitive if it wishes to win

For spriters, Golisopod only barely lost to rockruff in the spriter vote (see below), it already has a huge advantage over all other mons because of this because nothing will appeal to more spriters, but wait there’s more

Golisopod also has strong competitive appeal as well, defensive water type with spikes and first impression also appeals to a lot of them too, but there’s more.

The wild card in all of this was the dex entry winner: they can’t really be appealed to because they might not be competitive or spriter. Every Mon has to deal with a wild card they can’t appeal to… except Golisopod, because it was chosen by the dex entry winner, maximizing its votes by only needing to appeal to the 2 main groups.

So to sum it up:
Is Golisopod guaranteed to win? No
Is it near impossible for Golisopod to lose? Yes
