Hey @slow violet! To unlock randomized mode: Create a new game, save in Pallet Town, and create a 2nd new game. More options will appear since the 1st save is locked to Classic Mode.

Our randomizer doesn't offer true randomization meaning each Pokemon or item you find is **not ** going to be random each time. Instead we offer the below for Pokemon:
Global:

• Makes it so that if Pidgey was randomized to Pikachu on route 1, all Pidgeys on all routes are Pikachu.

Area:

• Better randomization than Global. Makes it so that each route has their own randomized set of encounters.

If you used the lightweight download, it will be wherever you extracted the zip file, if you used the installer you should know where that installer is as well.

If you've already caught the static (randomised, not actually) Necrozma, then no. If you're still doing the Necrozma quest, then yes, you can actually get it.
The actual trigger for Necrozma holding the item is that you're in "stage 4" of the darkness, which starts after you collect the fruit in the safari zone. Any wild unfused Necrozma that you encounter at that point will be holding Necrozium Z. Once you fight the static encounter, the darkness ends so you can't get it anymore.

And just in case you didn't know, you only "need" surf for a very short amount of time since like with all other HMs (and rock smash) there are items that can replace the need to have a pokemon with it.
Surf is a pretty potent water move though, so many people still use it regardless, and most water types can learn it I think (but not necessarily limited to water types either).

Define "best", to some it is being able to encounter legendaries and pseudo legendaries even in route 1, to others it is just adding a bit more diversity while keeping the power BST roughly similar, those are completely different experiences.

To add to the egg thing, flame body on one of your pokemon doubles the value of steps, there is also an outfit from the daycare that further helps but you get it after hatching about 30.
Incubators and super incubators are also a thing for quickly hatching eggs, and there is a hotspring where you can just stay without moving.

Highly reccomend timer balls over quick balls, false swipe stall method is best legendary catching method imo

Quick ball at the start is often not a bad idea either way (I caught a few that way, even if it is completely random).
I like to open with it, then false swipe until at 1 HP, spore and status balls until the 10th turn when I keep it sleeping and start using timer balls instead.
It is often a good idea to have a variety of pokeballs to be able to use whatever has the best catch rate for the situation, and not just for legendaries.

If you haven't already, get the shears (from the other side of diglet cave, allows you to use cut directly) and pickaxe (in vermillion city, allows you to use rock smash directly).
Clear at least 1 quest to get flash from the scientist at the top of the stairs in any hotel (preferably 10 if possible to get the item version of it called lantern) .
When all of that is done, go back to cerulean (previous city) then head east, you need cut to enter that route and will need flash/lantern for the cavern ahead.

The items allow you to not need to have a pokemon with the move on your team, it is not a hard requirement but it makes things easier.
All TMs as well as rock smash have one of those items to not need to waste move slots on moves you are not using in combat (for example, surf is a potent water move, so you are likely to use it in battle but flash only lowers the accuracy of the opponent, which is often not that useful unless the fight is going to take a decent amount of turns)

To dupe Pokemon, all you need is one Nincada, one normal red Pokeball, and an empty slot in your party. Nincadas are easy to obtain in both Classic and Remix. In ⁠ask-a-bot you can ask "How to get Nincada"

Steps:
Fuse the Pokemon you want to dupe with a Nincada. This will work with any Pokemon, including legendaries, mythicals, etc.
Level up the fusion to any evolution level. Nincada evolves at lvl. 20. Make sure you have a red Pokeball and an empty slot in your party.
Note: Any evolution will work, meaning if the other half evolves under 20 (e.g Kakuna, the dupe will also work and you will end up with two Beedrills.)
The fusion will now split: you'll have a Ninjask and, in the empty space you had, you'll now have a Shedinja. Both will be fused with the Pokemon you're duping.

IVs ,EVs, and Natures will also carry onto both the new fusions and will have the exact same values.

The best way to farm exp is through trainer rematches. You can talk to a trainer again and get the option to rebattle them. The more you battle them, the higher the level they become and their Pokémon can evolve as well.

Number of Rematches:

• After 4 rematches, the head Pokémon will evolve regardless of badges.
• After 9 rematches and gaining 3 or more badges, the head and body Pokémon will evolve.
• After 19 rematches and gaining 3 or more badges, it will evolve again.
