#NASIN TENPO KAMALU ★ a numberless toki pona calendar [DISCUSSION]

nope
pog
this year isn't a leap year in the calendar, last year was but that didn't get the specific moli skips so there wasn't a namako (named) day
i'm pretty sure it'll only happen like 2-3 times in this generation (2001-2030)
okii
the nimi sin in the title has been defeated 😔
jan Tepo li ni 😔
also if you want to talk about it not using nimisin it's "nasin tenpo Kamalu"
which is why the nimisin opposed jan Tepo is fine with the title right now
yea
You can't be nimisin free from nasin tenpo penpo, kipisi is right þere in it
I didn't write one last night I was so fucking sick or some shit
jan Tepo uses kipisi
2009 is not very "sin" it's more majuna
calling majuna a nimi sin
and kipisi a nimi sin
doesn't make sense to me
nimi sin li ike tawa mi. nimi kipisi li sin ala.
it's lexicalisation
o toki ala e "nimisin" nimi ni li kon ala
I said nimisin
but what does that mean
a non pu word lmão
jan ante la ante
o moli e nimi o toki e ijo
jan li toki pona la "the nimi sin opposed jan Tepo" "you can't be nimi pi pu ala free" lon la sina tu li toki e ijo ante! 💥
mi toki ala e ni
sona pona ala
o toki sona
nimi pi pu ala li lon nasin tenpo penpo
seme la ni li toki e “nimi sin li ike tawa jan Tepo” e “sina ken ala weka tan lon pi nimi sin”
What’s þis for
no clue
the defense posits that it was my belief that these messages were related

Briliant idea: I rɛd Mayamail and instead of making a real diary, I should make a fake one! Ofc it’d need to be Dutch because like þat’s half þe point of having a real diary, but I could also make a tp version along side it! And ofc þe dates will always be in ntp because þat’s like þe oþer half of þe point
So þe monþ is namako?
no it's sin this converter is just kinda broken :P
rip
Tbh I haven't made a diary entry in like 5 days I forgor what day it is
tomorrow li mun sin luka
overmorrow li kasi kama luka
mnmmmmm
Þe tool I need is like þe reverse of þis
Like what is mama kama poka in Gregorian and it'd give a list of þe days which were MKP for a cycle
real
I would probs only have it set for þis cycle or era or whatever þe 30 year þingy is called
It expires in like 6 years
i'm sure I could make anoþer one by þen if I knew how to
OOOOOooooohhhhhhh
It uses DD/MM/YYYY
Wait no it doesn't
Why doesn't it þough
that's probably your web browser?
use the free time and learn, the skill might be useful in other areas too :3
penpo is on penpo!
So þe new fictional Diary is going well, and because þis doesn’t talk place in real time, I have to actually þink a lot about how þe days are ordered and stuff, þe writing is kinda hard because like I don’t really have a talent for writting fiction and also I’m starting in þe middle of þe year of þe story I’m telling 💀
Last post I'll make about it,
damn girl be yapping
wowzers
It is like so much longer þan every oþer entry
A normal one would be like, þe top ︂3 lines only
like "paragraphs"
Good writting practice þough
one of þose calandar card þingies
the nasin tenpo Kamalu thingamabob
moli today :3
ik ga dood
ya
yea august 8th every year is new kamalu year
poggies
I know I said I'd stop posting about it but I like it when þe entries are a week apart :)
i am now in college which means it's kamalu time
Poggies
ntp la suno seme li lon
(it’s jan 29th for me)
i think it’s kasi kama luka but i’m not sure
kasi awen luka
this is true
nasin tenpo pona is a Toki Pona calendar system created in 2022.
The system splits the year into 4 color-coded 90-day sections, and tenpo pona, a 5- or 6-day period celebrating Toki Pona and its community. The days (suno) in each section are named according to a list of Toki Pona words, so that speakers may observe the related concept in whateve...
NTP and NTP share þe same new year
this lead me down a slight rabbit hole of learning what an epoch is and i found it quite interesting, thank you
Also I read about þe oþer nasin tenpo pi toki pona and I can definitively say NTK is þe best
woohoo 🔥
Wait do þe weeks repeat per monþ
Shouldn't it be kule sin luka?
I þink þis is a mistake
Jan1 is nimi sin luka
can i get some dates clarified cuz i think i messed up my dates somewhere:
- kule sin luka
- mama sin luka
- lete sin luka
- kasi kama luka
what are those four in the gregorian calendar
and also what day is today (today being february 5th for me)
- jan 2nd
- jan 11th
- jan 4th
- jan 14th
today is nimi awen luka and tomorrow will be seli awen luka :3
a sona
ok i think i see my mistake
because those dates were supposedly in chronological order
whoops
how does ntk handle leap years again?
one extra day on poka
2024 leap day was in poka pi waso tawa for example
a
am i right in saying suno moli sin was the 18th of january?
suno moli kama was the 18th yes, there wasn't a suno moli sin tho since that week is a moli skipper
yeah so is the next moli not then called sin? since it’s the first in the month?
it's in the kama row
yeah it's all of them
this is how the SKATW system works :3
if it was the nanpa system then jan 18th would be suno moli nanpa wan
FUCK
i’ve been doing it wrong this whole time
i thought it was based off of the first time the day appears in a month
which i thought didn’t really make sense but i just went along with it
😭😭
dammit was my birthday a moli day
happy valentines nasin tenpo kamaluers be sure to move some pan in the direction of your signifact other as a sign of your olin. preferably with your hands (today is pan tawa luka
i forgot to post this earlier because i ws in class
soo erm
pan! tawa! luka!!!!!!!
woahhh that’s cool
and also is musi awen luka the 9th of february?
a a a
seli tawa luka
(pi kijetesantakalu tawa)
and now today is moku tawa luka pi kijetesantakalu tawa
true!
also yes
kulupu
wawa
mi pakala ala a a
mama awen luka - february 10th
lete tawa luka - february 18th
walo tawa luka - february 19th
moku tawa luka - february 24th (today)
ni li lon ala lon
i really need a better method for verifying my dates
maybe i should start taking notes of anchor dates or smth
today is musi tawa luka
yeah the other 3 dates are correct
Is þis number usage depreicated?
Nowerdays wouldn't it be
(lete sin lawa pi kije tawa)
not deprecated but the other method makes more sense and no more nanpa (one of the original goals)
i usually forget to catch up on my journaling for a few days, so i always lose track of the date. my current method is to either ask here, or count back the days until i figure out what day today is.
this is kinda inaccurate and seems like a waste of time, is there a better way to do this? what way do y’all keep track of the date?
not very good alternatives rn i'd say but i mark which day the gregorian months start and then i just count from there since it's a little easier
but yeah given that idk how accurate the jan jami converter is we still gotta count 😔
aaa sona a
thank you
i had the idea of making a sort of “tradition” or habit for each day, so that you end up just naturally remembering what day is what, similar to how you might do certain things on a certain weekday in the greogrian calendar
specifically i thought of doing stuff related to the name of each day
but i’m not sure what that would entail
a seme?
isn't the second one pi day
have we found inaccuracies? i think it breaks with distant dates but that's about it
AFAIK it's accurate for anything beyond like 100 AD
sorry, sijelo luka ends on pi day
ill make a calendar generator sometime
sona pona
tbh i forgot lol
i think i fixed them
pi day seme
the day of, obviously
poka month tomorrow
poka month...today !!!!!!!!!!!! pan sin poka a
Poggies!
the last day of luka month was kasi sin luka right?
yea
pona
i wonder what year april fool's falls on musi (if any)
actually can it even do that
New nimi rule
Oh and also NTK is going to be used in uh sitelen Onkesele pi toki pona
So uh stay tuned for whenever I get þat done
It’s been like 4 monþs of translating Ongezellig shit and I’m still not done damn
10 seconds of fame, and 5 more later when þe clock is zoomed in on in deel 4
wawa a....
Only 1 ntK month left for Toki Pona New Year
true... (roughly) (tbh i haven't been keeping track i need to update the calendar on my wall)
Lemme give you the link
1 month until new year !!!
NASIN TENPO KAMALU ★ a numberless toki pona calendar [DISCUSSION]
new year sheets yayaya
I've been trying a while ago to make a function that maps unix to kamalu, and its been annoying, but what i did find is that if one calculates the fully qualified number of the year like this:
Era = amount of 30 year cycles (i.e. kala sin -> the next kala sin) since the kala sin of 2001
sin to weka get number 0 through 4 and the animals get 0 through 5
full_year_number = <animal> + <sin to weka> * 6 + <era> * 30
kala sin 2001's full_year_number = 0 (by above definition)
so, full_year_number = 29 corresponds to kijetesantakalu weka in 2031
(full_year_number + 2) fed into the algorithm for determining a greg leap year gives a kamalu leap year.
^ the above was found out because i thought it was dumb for a tp calendar to be tied to greg conceptually.
oh and even tho a kamalu year spans 2 greg years (as in, KT is in 2024/25), i base my stuff of off the year it starts in, so, 2024 is kijetensantakalu tawa and kala weka is 2025
sadly i've found no easy way to predict namako days yet, which is annoying. and in general my approach to finding this unix -> kamalu conversion was just fucking around.
my current approach was just to find a greg date that i knew a kamalu date for and count forwards to calc further dates, which sadly gives little flexibility as an actual date system because one has to set an arbitrary starting point which they know for sure the kamalu date of.
also, due to moli skipping it makes my numbering system i use in my bit of python code annoying to deal with since i made it so that each day word has a number from 0 to 14, maybe i should just switch the base in a moli skip week.
anyways. anyone, got any idea of how to approach date conversion from unix to kamalu, or even from greg to kamalu?
yea that works
wawa
without the la, it'd need to be sike pi soweli kama, right? Not just sike soweli kama
ig if it was like officially adopted it might work like numbers and the pi could be left out
hmm... ntKamalu word that works like nanpa but for dates and years... 😈
(anyways yeah)
probs going to just use þe arabic numerals
þe kamalu looks good but like 5 people know it
but þe non kamalu is really hard to do in such a compact area
suno seme li lon a...
lete kama noka
þere should be a site which says þe current day always
i thought that was broken though?
ala mi toki e ni ni o lon
what is this no punctuation approach
oh my god i only understood that sentence now that you said that 😭
@errant comet will you make a new calendar for kala weka
nevermind i just scrolled up
ignore
yes and actually that reminds me i was going to post about them in #pana at least today but i forgot
ok i did it
Can we get one of þose picture calandars but it's Kekan San's model in sexy poses we can print out?
how do you make a sexy pose with only your hands and head visible
oijrfkjrjkrkjwefa
idk maybe he could grab his pointy bits
Mi open e lipu ni
wawa !
what pride flag is that
no way the calendar has i in it
oh are you talking about the dash in the title
it's probably supposed to be like an actual dash. -kala weka = tan kala weka
unless kala weka is the year and i'm stupid
yeah it's a dash
kala weka is in fact the year
it's nasin tenpo Kamalu - kala weka
I wish I could mod my pc to have þe ntk date alongside þe greg one
ntk needs more recognition
have you heard of linux /hj
I have
I don't think it would be too hard to force Linux to use ntk honestly
Ngl I don’t know n anyþing about computers (poor Asi, Kekan San, and Ke Tami painfully guiding me as a blind idiot þrough þe most basic tech stuff like I’m 2)
If I did I would so sruff like þat
REAL THO
also this implies their headnouns are all "poor"
poor Asi Kekan San, and Ke Tami
poor headnoun and and headnoun
toki! mi and Kanoli
every time i try to figure out what day it is my brain explodes
is the date based on a certain time zone? when does it switch over to the next day?
and what day is it today lol?

wiþ þe normal greg one
misread greg as mun Kekan San lmao
it was intentional
does anyone here know their way around date conversion? I've been pretty stuck on trying to get a thing that maps UNIX time to nasin tenpo kamalu, and have honestly not worked on it in like, at least half a year. pretty much all of my work so far has been to generate days by naive counting and to try to find patterns.
the only thing I've found so far is that if one calculates the "full year number" by adding the number of the year in the current full cycle (i.e. the time from start of a kala sin to the start of the next kala sin) (i think this should be 0-30) and the number of full cycles * years_per_cycle since some starting point, you can say that a leap year occurs when full_year_number+2 is fed into the thing that determines gregorian leap years
drafting my new calendar for this year and next year :>
* ooh che figata
* pona mute
i think it's based on your timezone
and like. the actual day
yeah
toki, just a slight question, is the start of the week is on kasi or on mun? I checked the converter and it have mun as the start of the week.
it's kasi
pona a
wait
all this time I counted the week starting from the first day of the month
aaaaaaa

i would have learned the system if there was a mnemonic for the week but it's a bit hard to remember
btw, continuing the example, how do we say the first mama, nasin, mun? is it mama sin? And then kasi sin?
(for me I just use nanpas unfortunately, easier for me, mama wan, kasi wan)
And the last days of the week
i see
just checking, today (well, GMT +8 for me), suno ni li suno nimi tawa, kipisi sijelo, kala weka anu seme?
I think I want to use the 5 degree of progress cycle for the weeks instead of nanpas
ngl it looked much more organized in my almanac
good to now i’m finally accurate in my timekeeping and my calendar hasn’t drifted off yet
What year are we in?
kala weka
Hey all, I made a post about toki pona holidays inspired by nasin Kalamu. If you have any ideas, post them here!
