I just got a new nova series pro. My chatmix is not working properly. I have my output set up correctly, but when I move the slider between the two (either towards google chrome or discord) it doesn't change the audio balance at all. Any body have experience with this?

The slider moves with the knob on both the wireless hub and the headset so I’ve pretty much ruled out a hardware issue. I’ve also tried unplugging it and plugging back in like recommended on reddit

if you just have your default device selected the audio that comes out is still passed through sonar depending on what app is playing sound, for example you’d have your browser routed through media, and even though your headphones are the default device you still hear the audio passed through the media route

because the point of streamer mode is to have two individual volume sliders for personal mix and stream mix, so they lock the outputs so that you don't accidently turn down both mixes.

Hey everyone. I got the Arctis Nova Pro PS5/PC version, and it is connected to my PC that I just built a few weeks ago. When I'm in a discord voice chat channel or Battlefield 6 and I adjust the Mix knob hard left or hard right, it acts as a master fader where everything goes up in volume together or everything goes down in volume together, instead of decreasing the game fx volume/increasing voice chat volume, and vice versa (decreasing voice chat volume/increasing game fx volume). i got a steel series alias mic and ive been having troubles with it since i got it, usually with my clips with it. sometimes it just doesnt record either me or my friends voices even though i never change the settings unless there is an issue, and i couldnt get it to work for a while but i just did but it somehow downgraded my mic quality like crazy like worse than my headset mic when the whole reason i got it was so i didnt sound like i was in a box. it had really good quality when i first got it and for a while untill pretty recently like around a week or so ago i really have no idea what im doing since this is my first time with a non headset mic so if anyone could help that would be great !

I have to say that the various sonar inputs for different modes is almost as big a gaffe as the mouse with the OLED display on it. but it actually started working for me for a month or two lately instead of producing no audio at all, until last week it stopped working again. Your dac has chatmix wheel, it just adjust sound by muting either the game or chat, could be you set it to one side (muting one of the devices)instead of the middle where it doesint affect either

If you still dont know id go search for the headsets manual, seems you missed a core function of the headset

I'm not entirely sure but the engine software wasn't installed. After installation I was able to set Sonar to “Game” so that I could get 3D sound. I only had the software installed 105.0.0 but not the engine software itself.

In order for apps to output to the other devices in Sonar, you'll need to route the apps to the specified device. Routing can be done in one of two ways:

1. Use the routing drag and drop interface underneath the audio outputs to simply move any apps playing sounds to the required output

2. Open the Windows sound device by going to Settings > Sound > App Volume and Device Preferences. From this settings menu you can use the dropdown to route any app.

3. If you are having issues with step 2 or step 3 above, you may need to check the app itself for any sound output settings. Some apps like Discord, Spotify, and Apple Music may need to have their outputs changed within their app settings rather than done through Sonar.

If you see the "Sonar did not allow this app to change outputs" error, then step 1 above did not work, and you may need to do step 2 or step 3 to route your audio.

does anybody here understand parametric EQ when it comes to sonar I’m trying to help out my son and I I just bought us both steel series, Arctis nova elite headsets for our birthdays. hey why when i use sonar and share my screen on discord there is an echo and when i mute my friends still hear me?

Due to a bug in Discord's screen capture, Discord may capture Sonar outputs as part of the desktop audio, which can lead to echoing when screen sharing.

This issue can be fixed by setting Discord's capture to only capture a specific app. Application capture will only play audio from the selected app, and will not erroneously capture Sonar audio.

Alternatively, if you'd still want to capture the full desktop, you can use Sonar's streamer mode to manually choose what audio to send over your mic, and mute the stream sharing audio. More information on how to do this is in the links below.

Hello guys, I tried following the entire streamer mode setup to avoid getting discord echo, but I cannot get my mic to work in voice chat. I did set everything like this:

• Input: Steelseries sonar - Stream
• Output: Steelseries sonar chat
• Suppression turned off in discord

People still can't hear me in voice chat

Note that in-app, the volume bar for my MIC does move correctly

Tested in any program. Stream seams so send audio only to the app in order to show the colored bar, but it's not really sending any sound

Try going into Engine->Gear, and open the [Device with microphone], and disabling Live Mic Preview.
I'm using the Arctis Pro Wireless headset, and I have two of them.
Inside the window there's a Whiteish/Metallic "LIVE MIC PREVIEW" button that will on my setup play back a low quality, laggy version of my "MIC" out of the "GAME" virtual audio device.
Right below that I have a "MIC SIDETONE" volume slider that seems to within the headset itself copy-paste straight from the microphone to the headset "speakers", and not sending any type of signal to my computer. It sounds crisper, and non-compressed.

You're not required to have a login to use Engine that controls the hardware. Sonar can be used with any headset so I would imagine that's why it requires an account

In order for apps to output to the other devices in Sonar, you'll need to route the apps to the specified device. Routing can be done in one of two ways:

1. Use the routing drag and drop interface underneath the audio outputs to simply move any apps playing sounds to the required output

2. Open the Windows sound device by going to Settings > Sound > App Volume and Device Preferences. From this settings menu you can use the dropdown to route any app.

3. If you are having issues with step 2 or step 3 above, you may need to check the app itself for any sound output settings. Some apps like Discord, Spotify, and Apple Music may need to have their outputs changed within their app settings rather than done through Sonar.

If you see the "Sonar did not allow this app to change outputs" error, then step 1 above did not work, and you may need to do step 2 or step 3 to route your audio.

So I have already done literally everything I can think of, registry editor, control panel, everything, My microphone input volume keeps slowly lowering throughout the day, So much as I started having to keep my settings open to check my volume while I am playing games. Little Piece of Feedback -I like my headset, I like the Sonar software - EXCEPT - I HATE that my keyboard's volume adjuster only affects the "Game" profile when I want it to affect the MASTER profile.

Analog audio devices are headsets/speakers that use the 3.5mm headphone jack as the primary way to connect to the PC or console.

Please note that analog headsets use your on-board audio drivers to run the headset. Due to this, analog headsets are not compatible with SteelSeries Engine and will not show up on the device list in Engine.

If you are having audio issues, here's a few steps to try:

• Reseat all cable connections to verify they are fully plugged in. The 3.5mm connection will require that the cable be plugged in fully for correct audio. Make sure all connections are clean and free of dirt. Additionally, please check that you have the correct end of the cable plugged into your PC, as some SteelSeries Nova headsets have unique cables that must have the correct end plugged into the headset.

• Verify that you are plugging the headset into the correct port. Some PCs may have split headphone and microphone audio jacks, so using a splitter for these devices is required to make the mic work. Check your PC's manual or specs to see which type of headphone port you have. Additionally, if you are on a desktop PC, it's recommended to use the rear audio ports on your motherboard for audio, rather than the ports on your PC case.

For those who are annoyed by the fact that one device or another switches, and then doesn't (Backup device switch). There's a small utility from the Microsoft Store: SoundSwitch.
You can also adjust the default microphone connection if you can't hear through sonar in certain games. Because sonar will always reset the settings.
For example: Headphones switch to SteelSeries Gaming/Chat.

Either you have to reconnect the headphones every time. Even if you set them up, the ones you’ve configured just disappear... It went on like that for quite a while. Now Chatmix isn’t working anymore... Last time I reinstalled the software and it worked. Now it’s gone again. It used to help to restart the computer. Now that doesn’t work anymore. What’s going on? It’s no fun. I want to turn on my computer and have everything work the way it was set up. But that’s not the case here... Too bad it doesn’t work the way it should...

Hi guys, can anyone help me? I recently bought the arctis nova 5 wireless edition and im having troubles with its microphone. So my voice on discord is very wavy, i mean every second word in my sentance is quiet and the following word is normally loud. Problem is id have to scroll through 302 presets the app preinstalls to mark favorites. I dont want all them. Back when i originally got it about 3 years ago, it only had like 6 basic ones. Bass, Treble, Flat, etc. Now its got one for an entire collection of games ive never owned, wont own, and didnt tell it to download.

Make sure the Headphones are allowed in the device and that the sound settings are routing through Gaming / Chat (depending on what u cant hear)

The headphones are super comfortable, but man... I genuinely dislike the software they give out with it.

I believe that's how the old APW always is. since it has built in chatmix (rather than software chatmix on newer headsets) it'll show up as two outputs in windows, the main headphone output for gaming and the secondary headset earphone for chat

it is possible you had the base station set to PS4/Xbox/AUX mode, in that case the headset only shows up as one input in windows

I made an application that uses sonar's REST API to automatically swap all of your sonar devices based on if an application is running. I did this because I like Sonar, but I was really tired of swapping all my sonar devices every time I got in and out of VR.

I have a suggestion:
My current device preference consists of

1. Wireless Audio (via BT, not always connected)
2. TV (via GPU, not always connected)
3. Wired Audio
4. Display (via GPU, I don't want to use this device at all, but if I disable this device, the TV is also disabled)

In Sonar as in Windows sound settings the TV and the Display are treated as one device (NVIDIA High Definition Audio), so whenever I connect the TV I have to manually change the order in Sonar, and when I disconnect the TV I have to manually change it again.
These devices are shown with their corresponding different names in the Sonar UI (see screenshot), so I want to suggest using the name shown in the UI as a handle for device separation instead.

Yeah Sorry if I gave you the impression my app is to fix chatmix, its purpose is for contextual audio device switching I have no idea what's up with everyone's chatmix because it works fine for me on an Arctis Nova Pro Wireless.

Your setup looks right, mic broadcasting on stream mix and I assume your web browser is coming from the media source which is also set up to be on the stream.
I'd say just validate everything. Make sure your input device is the right one by clicking the gear next to master and make sure your stream mix is set too "Steelseries Sonar - Stream" make sure the app you're speaking in is configured to use Steelseries Sonar Stream as it's microphone.

Works fine for me.

Just to clarify I am in no way affiliated with Steelseries but I've been poking around their API for the app I made.

So, Chatmix has worked perfectly fine for years; with the occasional bug but nothing major. As recently as February, a new bug was introduced where the hardware dial on the SteelSeries DAC will not allow you to switch to "Mix". It functions perfectly well with volume, and whatever you had the game-chat mix set to last before you turned off your computer is preserved, but you are unable to change the balance with the DAC. SteelSeries GG also refuses to let you change the mix in app, directing you to "Please use your hardware dial to control ChatMix".

Resetting the DAC does not always work, unplugging it does not always work, reinstalling GG does not always work, restarting GG does not always work. Sometimes any combination of those solutions can temporarily fix the problem, but if you restart your computer you're back stuck in this bug

well in the mean time, I have kind of a weird setup if you wanna try that kinda bypasses the need for the chat mix.

I used microsoft powertoys to rebind my keyboards volume rocker up/down to f22/f23 and then in the steelseries software I configured different key combos like Shift+F22 to raise my game volume and CTRL+F22 to raise my chat, alt+f22 does media, etc.

for now let me see if I can manually set the chatmix from my app

So far my API exploration is not going well, I found out how to modify the chatmix from my API, but it specifically blocks me because it's in "Readonly mode"

@merry torrent Yeah I don't think there's anything I can do from the API side, it might just be a bug in Steelseries Sonar They'll have to fix.

In the mean time, I was able to fix it by unplugging the DAC, Closing Steelseries GG entirely, waited about 10 seconds and plugged the dac back in, turned on the headset and turned gg back on and now it works.

I've had this ongoing issue very often where the base would not properly handshake with Steelseries Sonar, and ChatMix would not work. Not all apps work together flawlessly, there is another solution but never tested it myself

Due to a bug in Discord's screen capture, Discord may capture Sonar outputs as part of the desktop audio, which can lead to echoing when screen sharing.

This issue can be fixed by setting Discord's capture to only capture a specific app. Application capture will only play audio from the selected app, and will not erroneously capture Sonar audio.

Alternatively, if you'd still want to capture the full desktop, you can use Sonar's streamer mode to manually choose what audio to send over your mic, and mute the stream sharing audio. More information on how to do this is in the links below.

Hello! Discord still at master's apps to be routed and I cant move it to chat, OBS I wanna move to aux, but I cant. What's the problem?

In order for apps to output to the other devices in Sonar, you'll need to route the apps to the specified device. Routing can be done in one of two ways:

1. Use the routing drag and drop interface underneath the audio outputs to simply move any apps playing sounds to the required output

2. Open the Windows sound device by going to Settings > Sound > App Volume and Device Preferences. From this settings menu you can use the dropdown to route any app.

3. If you are having issues with step 2 or step 3 above, you may need to check the app itself for any sound output settings. Some apps like Discord, Spotify, and Apple Music may need to have their outputs changed within their app settings rather than done through Sonar.

If you see the "Sonar did not allow this app to change outputs" error, then step 1 above did not work, and you may need to do step 2 or step 3 to route your audio.

Device manager in Sonar is just used to set your device priority and fallback options. Since there's no device fallback in streamer mode, you can't access it when streamer mode is on.

If you want to check your audio/mic device settings, check the settings under Master.

Hey there everyone. I just have a quick question. So I have a surface laptop with the Snapdragon processor, and I have been having a little trouble setting up sonar. The GG app seems to install perfectly fine, and I don't see anything inherently going wrong during the stup of things, but for some reason I cannot get my sonar devices to show up in sound settings, and when I click to automatically set my defaults to sonar devices, it does absolutely nothing. I can set what I want my game, chat, and mic devices to be within the app, but I cannot get those channels to show up in settings. Is this an issue with the computer running on an armed processor, or would it be something else? Thanks for any help and info that can be provided on this.

1.) Use the dots to sweep & adjust target frequency 2.)double click line to ADD additional points
3.)right click dots to select the filter type
4.)drag point to cut/boost/attenuate to taste.
5.)click (or double click?) points to adjust Freq, Q, Gain if you don't want to sweep with plotted points (should only need to adjust Q to target frequency)
6.)Scroll down to bottom of page to adjust volume boost (preamp), compressor, etc.

Response correction is a delicate concept unto itself & highly individual..not just to the physical hardware & software in use, but also from person to person using any given hardware+software combo.

His target target is with +10 db of bass and +10 db of treble. he goes on youtube to rant about headphones and universally enforcing his own very exaggerated target with 0 scientific research behind it and entirely to his preference and treats it as absolute neutrality. All his presets follow extremely bright targets and loads of treble. Compared to something like kb50xx which has actual scientific data.

Response correction also has it's own inherent biases & variables at play that comes with the territory..main one being psychoacoustics. Most of the products we have on the market today for headphone frequency correction/calibration comes from room acoustics correction/ARC (ARC being a proprietary technology).

In my experience, they're barely "mutually intelligible" with each other because of the highly specific domains in which they're performed in.

Due to a bug in Discord's screen capture, Discord may capture Sonar outputs as part of the desktop audio, which can lead to echoing when screen sharing.

This issue can be fixed by setting Discord's capture to only capture a specific app. Application capture will only play audio from the selected app, and will not erroneously capture Sonar audio.

Alternatively, if you'd still want to capture the full desktop, you can use Sonar's streamer mode to manually choose what audio to send over your mic, and mute the stream sharing audio. More information on how to do this is in the links below.

In regard to the latest 3 updates to the GG Software from April 21st up to today April 29th the discord GG Updates channel has announced Version 109.0, 109.1 and 109.2 . . .
my installation has yet to report an update available. I've even used the "Check for updates" button in the About section of GG and it won't show there's an update available. Also if you go to the website to download the GG software, it will still download version 108.1 . . .
anyone have any information about this or has anyone else noticed?

When using Sonar is there a way to keep it from taking exclusive control of my microphone/interface input beyond the Excluded Devices list? I'm using GG for my other hardware (mouse, keyboard, headphones) and would like to use Sonar for audio. The problem I'm running into is I'm a voiceover artist and when I have Sonar active even with the mic on the Excluded list it still keeps me from pulling audio input into my recording software (Reaper). I know it's specifically Sonar because when I turn it off Reaper immediately picks up the audio.

I've verified that all "allow applications to take exclusive control" settings are disabled in Windows, I've added the microphone to the Excluded Devices list in Sonar, I've rebooted after verifying any other settings I could find. I've got Sonar disabled for now and everything is working, I'd just like to know if there's another setting I can check

And whenever I route the media channel in Sonar, I'm getting horrible crackling. Compared to just having the sound card as default. Any ideas?

well seeing that you got signal rgb there id check if its trying to kill other rgb apps like gg, there should be a setting in that app to stop it

So I had an issue with my Arctis Nova 7 Gen 2 headset. The presets weren't working at all and windows 11 was muting the gaming virtual sound setting whenever I had it on, which also prevented me from using presets.
