its funny how sometimes updates can make things really bad. I wanted to send back my 2023 tkl wireless keyboard beacuse incorrect acutation on some keys. Till i didnt figure out that they can be recalibrated. Now everything works just fine.

I have gone through 2 Arctis 7s over the years and I would have preferred to stay with that instead of the 7+ so what I'm trying to do should be possible with 7+. I want there to be zero noise cancellation on my mic. The reason is that I play guitar with people online -- in real time -- and I've tried every setting in Sonar and GG engine and I can't find a way to get this sort of functionality. It seems that there's no way to turn truly turn off voice activation nor fully turn off background noise suppression (even though those setting exist in the GG engine / Sonar).

Please help. Windows 10. I have adjusted settings in GG engine. Again, it was possible with 7 I did that for many many years.

So the 7+ has less functionality than the regular 7. If that's so that would be very unfortuante. The regular 7 could have dual channel and have open mic. The 7+ can't have dual channel without sonar. I think it's not too late to get a refund from Amazon but als it's very likely that you don't know what you're talking about either.

IIRC you can also click in on the volume wheel on your headset to also swap that wheel on your headset to chatmix? that's how it worked on the APW so I think it's the same on the NPW

I didn't check if you got it fixed yet but there is a bug with the exclusion list. Move it back to the top of the left side, then move it down to the bottom and exclude it again.

Also GG 61.0 fixes this issue.

In order for apps to output to the other devices in Sonar, you'll need to route the apps to the specified device. Routing can be done in one of two ways:

1. Use the routing drag and drop interface underneath the audio outputs to simply move any apps playing sounds to the required output

2. Open the Windows sound device by going to Settings > Sound > App Volume and Device Preferences. From this settings menu you can use the dropdown to route any app.

If you are having issues with routing not working or apps moving back to another device after dragging them, you may need to check the app itself for any sound output settings. Some apps like Discord, Spotify, and Apple Music may need to have their outputs changed within their app settings rather than done through Sonar.

Those multiple device are for apps that have no routing support. Instead you can select the output and input devices in its settings. With this multi device approach you can still choose which channel you would like it to be routed to.

I'm using it for Asio on my universal audio interface, to have multiple outputs, and for VSTs

either way it shouldn't matter as Aux uses the same one as media and game and still works

its only game and media that doesnt work

even using the test feature in sound control panel (windows) doesn't make noises, but for chat and aux it does

this is a steelseries problem for sure and not a voicemeeter problem

Sadly I have found no fix, I tried reinstalling Steelseries GG and checking for any updates for my system but nothing has fixed this issue for me. The microphone works outside of Sonar so I believe that the update yesterday is causing this issue. Hopefully this issue is fixed soon but for now I would recommend to move any input to your microphone without Sonar or turn off Sonar until the issue is fixed.

I noticed when playing GTA RP my voice seem muffled and apparently cut out at times.

This can be a server issue also.

Hello everyone. I have a question that I hope someone can help me with. For whatever reason, my sonar chat channel doesn't seem to be working at all. I am working with the Nova Pro Wireless, and everything with the headset itself seems to be working fine, and the game channel is working perfectly. However, I cannot get any sound to come out of the chat channel. I have it set in sonar to come through the nova pro for both game and chat, and all of my volume sliders are up as far as I'm aware. I also don't see anything in the app or in my PC's sound settings that would suggest that something is muted. I have also tried to disable Sonar and turn it back on, but with no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions or any way that they can help? Would it also be helpful to potentially post a screenshot here to show what's going on? Thanks.

Sonar is still completely unusable. I have toggled every setting in the Steelseries GG app and the only way I can get sound from any game or app is to entirely disable Sonar. Without my Sonar settings, I'm essentially wearing dollar store earbuds. When Sonar is off, the audio is completely flat and the chatmix dial on my headset doesn't even work. Anyone have the arctis nova pro wireless? I’m not sure why but once my headset dies, I go to swap the batteries and put the dead one in the station, and then suddenly the base station shuts off and doesn’t boot up unless I take the dead battery out. Depends on what audiosource you choose when sharing in discord. If you are using default desktop audio then they will hear them self. Use Sonar in streamer mode and use sonar stream mix as source, then you can turn that of for your friends

this is more a limit with geforce, since it can only record one audio output, so it'll record "game" but not be able to record chat/media/aux. you'd either need to turn on streamer mode to have an output with everything crushed together, or use Moments that's built into GG which can record a second audio output as well like chat

Genuinely, the only reason I use sonar is because it's required for the chatmix dial. The older headset had the functionality built into the headset, and now it's this absolute broken software nightmare. There would be no issues if they kept it the same and just added improvements.

Screenshot looks like a virtual Steelseries Sonar device is set as mic input. It should be your headphone mic instead. Also make sure your the Steelseries Sonar Game device is set to default in your windows settings to make the yellow bar disappear and set the playback device in Sonar to your headphones.

I have updated to Windows 11, Sonar was not loading, so I uninstalled GG and then reinstalled, Sonar is now loading but it does not allow me to Route Apps to the different mixers. It is all coming through the "GAME" mixer, so Spotify and a game are both playing in there, instead of Spotify playing in the Media Mixer....

My issue:

• I connected an external mic, set it up correctly, everything works without issues when I set it up in Discord and use the headphones directly as the output (first screenshot)
  - This is where Sonar comes in
  -> every input source is now registered incorrectly (Google Chrome is no longer an option, it just says nvcontainer which it didn't before)
  -> my mic is registered as Destiny 2 (I know, D2 gamer ew)
  -> I cannot change any mapping properly (super buggy, screenshot 2)
  -> as soon as I choose any type of sonar item as the output source, I get no sound sent to my Arctis Nova Pro Wireless'

How can I 1. use my external mic with Sonar and 2. go back to applying EQs to both the output as well as the mic?

Nova Pro comes with two cables and at least two ports. Since you’re using USB you should see the device indeed though. When you connect it with the audio cable, the onboard sound would need to be selected.

I get here with several Problems again:
I reinstalled GG because the Output from the Mic was terrible. Nothing more then hiss sounds and stuff like that. Now I hear a weird silent hissing noise in general on the Headset. The loud Hissing Noise is fixed I think, not sure yet. But now as I tried to configure Sonar as before, there is no Gaming output anymore. Can anyone help?

When i am using sonar mic on discord, audio when i am talking keeps interrupting strangely, when talking it is cutting out my voice randomly like it isn't detecting my voice in random moments. For all the content creators out there, please start daily driving the white nova headsets they just released. The biggest question every steelseries customer wants to get answer to is how well those white headset will hold up. Do they turn yellow over time? Easily stained? Difficult to clean?

Personally considering to buy a white headset next year, maybe a nova 7/pro, maybe a gpx2. They need 1-2 year daily driving reviews and people will watch them.

Yes you should be able to remove channels which should disable or remove devices. It’s a feature that is getting requested a lot. I’m just mentioning there are use cases for the current behavior and they shouldn’t just replace it entirely.

Hey, I'm currently a VM user for all my daily tasks, but I want to start using Sonar for gaming, I'm really enjoying the server but one thing I don't like is that every time I restart my pc my default speaker and mic get overwritten by sonar, is there a way to stop this from happening?

No, Sonar resets the Windows default devices on reboot. However you can change which playback and input devices Sonars channels are defaulting to on reboot when you move it to the top of the priority list at Settings > Sonar > Backup Device Switch.

hello, my arctis nova pro headset works properly on my computer but when we connected the dock to my brother's computer it didn't work. so we turned off the sonar and when we used another usb port it worked but when we turned the sonar back on it broke again and doesn't give sound. when I connect it to my computer it works properly. both of our computers are the same model laptop.

there is an option built into windows with no delay, but it's quite soft. you may have to crank windows up to 100 and lower the volume on the headphones itself.

I think this might be your issue, sorry that it's not all in english, I'm not sure why it isn't. You can drag and drop the undesired devices to the right and also put the desired ones in the order you want them to be. I hope this helped

Unfortunately I think there is no way to achieve this yet. If you have a Steelseries headset connected with USB you could try setting the EQ settings in Engine EQ instead of Sonar.

recent update reverted the preferred settings in GG app.. You have to uninstall Sonar GG. Run through the installation again and you will be met with a default audio setup screen, set your preferred audio settings again that way.

I swear that the GG app and Sonar in particular is getting worse every day. When I got the app I had a problem with having to constantly change my microphone device cause it would set it to the Nova 7 headset mic (for some reason?). In order for apps to output to the other devices in Sonar, you'll need to route the apps to the specified device. Routing can be done in one of two ways:

1. Use the routing drag and drop interface underneath the audio outputs to simply move any apps playing sounds to the required output

2. Open the Windows sound device by going to Settings > Sound > App Volume and Device Preferences. From this settings menu you can use the dropdown to route any app.

If you are having issues with routing not working or apps moving back to another device after dragging them, you may need to check the app itself for any sound output settings. Some apps like Discord, Spotify, and Apple Music may need to have their outputs changed within their app settings rather than done through Sonar.

Hello, this is the 3rd time I have attempted to set up Sonar and had it not work correctly. When I try to use sonar and put my default sound to the game audio, there is no sound except for what is routed to come out of chat. Chat is the only audio that will work and it is not even my default system audio. As soon as I turn off Sonar I get sound from all sources again. I would really like to use spacial audio and the Nova 7's have been the best headset that I have owned but I have absolutely despised the Steelseries software so far. Any help would be appreciated, cannot find anything on youtube or reddit and support has not gotten back to me.

Keep having same issue with GAME channel never produces sound to my head set and have to move Apps to Media to hear anything, this is quite annoying as everything defaults to GAME channel and means I miss audio on stuff. [example MOMENT captured clips I cant review the audio as it defaults [I assume to GAME channel - which I cant move the app as the moment screen doesn't allow for me to move to Sonar to move the app, therefore blocking me from having audio when reviewing Moment clips.

Okay, so I've been using Sonar for a few months now. I have a cheap microphone and I was excited to find this program as it would give me some extra control over a microphone that didn't come with any options. It would also allow me to control and mix volume levels for streaming. Sounded pretty good. Well, for the most part it worked good. Randomly it would stop working though after putting my computer to sleep, and I would just have to restart the program. Not a big deal.

But then a few days ago, I think, my volume sliders just stopped functioning. Nothing was working. Now my microphone is not working. And every time I restart my computer, any changes I've made to my PC's audio input and output devices are automatically switched without my permission. I looked in the support section and saw that I wasn't the only one whose volume sliders simply stopped functioning, so I know it's not just me. Also, this was before the windows update which I just did yesterday, so that wasn't the cause. (I'm on windows 10 pro if it matters). Anyways, I've sadly decided this software is too unreliable to keep using. I'm going to uninstall and pray to the gods that I don't have any lingering issues afterwards. Too bad, I really wanted this to work.

So i have an issue with Sonar after reinstalling steelseries gg. Previously everything worked fine

1. So i want to have 2 audio devices switched (arctis headphones and speakers) previously it worked. Now it doesn't remember the speaker device set up and after i turn off the headphones it jumps to nvidia speaker device (or any other in the system, but not to the device i need. It just doesn't save the settings)

2. Hotkeys. For Master volume i've set up hotkeys for up and down. However a single volume up press makes it 100% (from any volume) and single volume down press makes it 95%. These are the only two volume states possible using the hotkeys

Hello, I recently bought nova pro wireless. The first day it worked smoothly, the second day chatmix started not working. I tried turning the headset on and off and it didn't work. I unplugged and plugged the deac cable and it didn't work. What should I do and how can I fix it?

We should have the option under the master channel in sonar to select a device and it changes it for all channels.

Go to GG settings/down to Sonar tab/Backup device switch and you can set the order and exclude devices from there

I really love how the only way to stop sonar resetting my selected devices is to disable everything else, even though I use my monitor integrated speakers at times, normally when I choose to use them, oh and they get used by sonar to wake up my daughter.

I used to get it so it defaulted to the sonar gaming channel, as default, but it always shunted the audio to my headphones as I'd set it to in the software, now every reboot or power on, even randomly through the night or a play session the sound will start coming through the speakers instead.

alright that is just screwed up. i realized that sonar stopped working when i plugged in this other cheap logitech H340 wired headset i bought to use when i have a headache and the big headset is too head squishy. now mind you, SOUND worked through the Nova Pro as long as sonar was OFF. But SONAR would not work. I just unplugged the Logitech headset and lo and bohold, sonar immediately started working again. So .. what. exactly. just. happened?

Does anyone have an issue with Sonar not connecting to a specific game? Mine is minecraft. No matter what platform i use (Java, Prism Launcher, bedrock) Minecraft no longer works in the "Game" section. It use to work just fine and it does work in other tabs like Media and chat but defeats the purpose of having the custom sound settings for games like Minecraft. If any can help that would be great!

that's how it's supposed to be? the playback dropdown is for settings what physical device you want your various VADs to output to. the sonar devices don't show on this list since otherwise you can set sonar to output to itself

Yes? the list of app outputs is at the bottom. so in this screenshot i have chrome outputting to AUX

the various VADs are visible in windows so that windows itself can send audio to the various parts of Sonar. From there the Sonar app takes the audio in, does it's audio processing, and sends it out to whatever device you have listed in the dropdown. So the dropdown doesn't contain the sonar VADs since it wouldn't really make sense to have Sonar send its audio to itself.

like each category had the virtual device set up, i didnt even do that manually thats just how it was at first launch so i rolled with it, i guess it got improved to be less confusing

I made a new profile in the category I wanted and then changed the data directly in the database file found at "C:\ProgramData\SteelSeries\GG\apps\sonar\db\database.db"

the SQLite3 Editor extention in visual studio code and then its just writing a querry to copy the data fields over

How to REALLY fix sonar

• first thing you want to do is open Device Manager, go under sound, video, games audio and check if you see “SteelSeries virtual audio device”. FIG1.1
• if it’s shown as “unknown device” then you know you have a problem with drivers and you might want to update the unknown device.
• in case of this error popping up “windows is unable to update this drive” you should consider going to the group policy and disabling “prevent windows from doing changes to devices not listed in the original policy” and try to update the drivers again.

Then try to use sonar again, if still not fixed, you should consider downloading an older version of SteelSeries GG by just searching it, I would advice using V48, V43, or V38.
Do the setups, run sonar, and make sure it’s working.

• after that you’ll need to make a new rule to prevent the automatic update of sonar. You’ll have to make a prevention rule to the “StrelseriesUpdate” file in the control panel
