Only solution I have found is opening task manager, ending the task for all parts of steelseries, then running GG as administrator

Hey everyone. I've just downloaded Sonar and I'm in the sonar tab in the app with the different audio tabs, works a treat but I have one issue. I communicate with my friends using the Xbox app widget and it doesn't allow me to drag it into the chat tab, it automatically goes into the game tab which isnt ideal for me when I edit as I can't split the audio. Does anyone know a fix for this at all? Would help me a lot. please send me a dm if need. Thanks!

So I've got an issue where if I stream my screen to discord and enable system audio it plays both chat audio and my microphone back through the stream leading to an echo for both my voice and other people in chat

hey i just bought the alias pro and im tryna setup the sidetone but the only way that i cant hear it is if i plug my headphones directly into it, but for that i have to take them out of my gameDAC and i dont think thats the ways its supposed to go, am i doing it correctly?

yeah, that's the only way to get "proper" sidetone is to plug directly into the mic. otherwise the time it takes to go from mic > pc > sonar > headphones, you get a nasty delay and it makes the sidetone pretty useless. if you still want to try to get sidetone through sonar, turn on streamer mode and set your mic to output over the personal mix and you can check how long the delay is

I have the issue to you do in Star trek online. The game settings overwrite the sonar settings so you have to select the steel series sonar gaming tab as your output device under game audio settings

I already have Windows and Music, the only problem is I can only add 2 audio playback devices in OBS. And with MIC I only have Steel Series Stream and Steel Series microphone. I don't think you will be able to do that if you are in Streamer Mode in Sonar. When streamer mode is enabled, the individual source output control is disabled and it is all combined into the stream audio output.

In order for apps to output to the other devices in Sonar, you'll need to route the apps to the specified device. Routing can be done in one of two ways:

1. Use the routing drag and drop interface underneath the audio outputs to simply move any apps playing sounds to the required output

2. Open the Windows sound device by going to Settings > Sound > App Volume and Device Preferences. From this settings menu you can use the dropdown to route any app.

If you are having issues with routing not working or apps moving back to another device after dragging them, you may need to check the app itself for any sound output settings. Some apps like Discord, Spotify, and Apple Music may need to have their outputs changed within their app settings rather than done through Sonar.

Hey I’ve ran into major issues with Sonar that I don’t know how to resolve.

• the gg app loads but sonar does not. Running as administrator, restarting app, restarting PC, closing all processes in task manager etc does not resolve it
• windows audio service stops running whilst sonar is stuck loading. I cannot click on the speaker icon or access audio services at all. Restarting the service via task manager does not work

Previously it has just randomly resolved itself after a few hours. Today it hasn’t, so I tried:

• uninstalling steelseries gg but it got stuck on uninstalling sonar and crashed. Restarted PC and it now can’t finish the uninstall
• Tried reinstalling Sonar to see if it would override the broken uninstall. It is stuck on installing Sonar.

Currently my PC has no audio and I can’t even click on the speaker icon. It is stuck trying to install the sonar portion of steelseries gg. Short of reinstalling windows I’m not sure what to even try.

I have a question regarding SteelSeries Sonar Vs Wave Link. I am currently using the wave link software and I need to ask, does any know if Sonar has the ability or the future goals to add plugins to each individual audio channel?... For instance in the wavelink software I am able to put a compressor on the game audio channel only as a VST plugin to help protect my ears from louder gunshots and explosions, and meanwhile I can let chat and other channels (Browser etc..) be normal eq with no compression so I can hear dynamic fluctuations in the voices of people talking to me on discord. I really like the ability to compress game only sounds, and not looking to compress ALL audio channels as music apps and browsers need to be more dynamic for enjoyment. Does anybody with Steel Series GG know this or have plans to do it in the future, because then I would really be all on board with the Steelseries GG Sonar exclusively. LOVE that you guys dont require steelseries hardware to use the app, Although I do like my steelseries mouse, headphones, and keyboard very much. Thank you

No, my settings remained the same. I ended up uninstalling Steelseries GG, reinstalled it and set up my sonar settings again. It worked fine. I opened OBS Studio to record my game and suddenly I had no audio again and now I can't get it back. Gotta go for now, I'll be back.

hello, last night i installed sonar to allow myself to have separate audio tracks in obs for when i go to edit my clips, i have my recordings set to save in mkv. watching this in the windows "film and tv" app, the audio is a mess. when i convert it to an mp4, the audio is now good, except its only the game audio. is this just because i have separate audio tracks and in an editing software, all the audios should be there? any help appreciated

So I've used sonar for the same thing and when I watch clips in Movie&Tv, Media player, VLC, or Windows Media player it can only play 1 audio track at a time. You can choose which track to listen to by clicking on the text bubble icon next to the volume icon on the bottom left of Movie&TV, and choosing a track. You can do the same on all the software's that I mentioned, you just have to find the audio track settings in them.
As for editing software, I record in mov since it can do higher quality files then MP4, but both of them show the separate tracks in both DavinciResolve, or Olive.

I bought an Alias Pro, first time using it at work today. I can't install Sonar on my work computer and the Alias definitely picks up more background noise than the mic on my Astro A50 (gen4) headset. But then my headset does have all the sound processing in the base station rather than a separate app, and is closer to my face. Make sure that only sonar is running and not sonar moments. When first getting the program, moments will be on and it will eat your cpu usage like crazy

Are you wired, or wireless? If your wired, then there's a good chance it's your cable. If your wireless it could be that your mic input is the same as your audio output.

Is your sonar mic set as default communication device, or is it set as your default for MW3 input in your windows "app volume and device preferences"? Doing that should fix the issue, at least it has for me.

I don't own one, but I've seen reviews and for the time being, I don't think it's worth, since there are these weird issues with the alias pro.
I'll link a yt review of the alias pro so you can see what I mean. I'd also advise going through the same youtuber to find a good mic. This guy has been trustworthy for the 4 years I've watched him, plus he knows what he's talking about since not only has he done content creation since Vine, but also music production since Vine.

apps need to be playing audio to show up in the "apps" boxes under the VADs, but you can also just go into windows and route stuff there

In order for apps to output to the other devices in Sonar, you'll need to route the apps to the specified device. Routing can be done in one of two ways:

1. Use the routing drag and drop interface underneath the audio outputs to simply move any apps playing sounds to the required output

2. Open the Windows sound device by going to Settings > Sound > App Volume and Device Preferences. From this settings menu you can use the dropdown to route any app.

If you are having issues with routing not working or apps moving back to another device after dragging them, you may need to check the app itself for any sound output settings. Some apps like Discord, Spotify, and Apple Music may need to have their outputs changed within their app settings rather than done through Sonar.

i think that's up to the game developer to implement separate game/chat audio devices. on xbox it might be a requirement from microsoft to implement separate streams (so people can plug headsets into controllers) but on PC that's not really a requirement so devs won't really do it

So my friend has a goxlr, however his audio jack port is damaged, not allowing audio to sound good when transferring over aux.
Ive been looking for other solutions in order to send audio (because there are 4 channels i need to send), I have tried obs which works but hurts the performance of the games a lot using monitoring. I have also tried Voicemeeter but that has some issues with bitrate causing clipping often.
So I installed Sonar as its an audio mixer but I'm now getting confused, is there no way to route the channels together such that master can send the audio as one piece while keeping my channels independent?

I'm experiencing this issue too, but only after switching to windows 11 canary build about an hour ago. Not sure if that's related or not.

Yes, that did indeed work. If you're experiencing issues with getting Sonar to start, my recommendation would be to uninstall and reinstall GG if nothing else has worked.

Just recently installed Sonar for better audio configuration's all has been going well untill i started watching youtube videos. Im getting complaints from my friends in discord saying my youtube video is playing through my mic. I've never had that particular issue before, and I really don't have a clue what could cause it. Especially if reinstalling didn't work. Maybe make sure all of your drivers are fully up to date, if you haven't already? It's the only thing that remotely comes to mind.

I have an app set to use the Aux channel on Sonar yet no matter what I do sonar insists on keeping this app running thru it's default "gaming" channel even with this apps sound preferences set in windows to run thru the aux channel there as well. I can drag the app to the aux channel but it immediately moves back to the "default" gaming channel ...as well opening a new tab in windows 10 puts the sound thru the default and I have to fight the sonar app to get the sounds that are NOT games to come thru the media channel even when Windows Edge is also set to run thru the media channel in sonar in the Windows sound settings as well ...any reason why this keeps happening? everything looks normal in your screenshot. you can't set sonar to output to itself. the dropdowns in sonar is for selecting a physical headset/speaker to output to.

In order for apps to output to the other devices in Sonar, you'll need to route the apps to the specified device. Routing can be done in one of two ways:

1. Use the routing drag and drop interface underneath the audio outputs to simply move any apps playing sounds to the required output

2. Open the Windows sound device by going to Settings > Sound > App Volume and Device Preferences. From this settings menu you can use the dropdown to route any app.

If you are having issues with routing not working or apps moving back to another device after dragging them, you may need to check the app itself for any sound output settings. Some apps like Discord, Spotify, and Apple Music may need to have their outputs changed within their app settings rather than done through Sonar.

I have a Blue Yeti Pro mic plugged into a MOTU M2 external soundcard using an XLR cable, which is then plugged into my PC using USB C. I'm using Sonar and my audio is only going into the left ear. It seems to only come in that way everywhere for some reason.

Anyone know of a fix of any kind for this? Would appreciate it thanks!

It can be a VPN that causes issues. Not every time

Did you get a new windows update? I had similar issues after a windows update, and it changed all my audio channels, and sonar refused to load

Could anyone help me cause im getting really frustrated with the sonar, it shows that all are channels/mixers are working like theyre supposed to, like for example the gaming, it shows that theres audio output meaning that its working but i cant hear anything

same with microphone, it shows im talking but no one would hear me on discord when i talk

So then I would go to sound settings on your device and route the microphone through there and see if that’ll open it

Right click the speaker icon > Sounds > App and Device Preferences > Microsoft Edge > Input SteelSeries Sonar - Aux > Output SteelSeries Sonar Mic

If you mean like how Razer has their audio settings set up where the computer audio lowers itself with the knob turning, the application itself uses channels and Razer just uses a completely different software compared to Sonar. With Sonar you have to manually adjust the headset knob and it only lowers the headset volume cause the channels are linked to the headset, not the PC. With Razer, the headset is connected to the PC, so it will only lower the PC volume automatically.

What you can do is go to SteelSeries Sonar > Inputs and check the volume levels and set them accordingly @jaunty bone (I usually would set mine to 67% volume for like Game volume, etc.)

wait, let me explain; my headphones have an actual option to turn up/down the volume like from the pc in everything i'm doing (playing, music etc) but when i do that it just doesn't turn down or up, the volume bar does but the sound is still the same
