Now discord does this too but for a second when loading and than reverts back to being good again

so the only way can get this to work properly if i just dont runb sonar software at all close it

Have you checked in-game? So it's set to Sonar gaming? Not all programs/games is so you can straight route it in Sonar application.. Discord is another example that you have to set within discord it self!

Hey @steep bison , since the latest update I'm getting the same issues where the windows defaults are constantly being overwritten by Sonar. It's bloody annoying. I take all my output from the speaker out of my gaming pc to my GoXLR connected to my streaming pc, so everytime the gaming pc boots, it now stop sending to the speaker out and I have to go back into windows settings to change it back again...so frustrating!

In order for apps to output to the other devices in Sonar, you'll need to route the apps to the specified device. Routing can be done in one of two ways:

1. Use the routing drag and drop interface underneath the audio outputs to simply move any apps playing sounds to the required output

2. Open the Windows sound device by going to Settings > Sound > App Volume and Device Preferences. From this settings menu you can use the dropdown to route any app.

If you are having issues with routing not working or apps moving back to another device after dragging them, you may need to check the app itself for any sound output settings. Some apps like Discord, Spotify, and Apple Music may need to have their outputs changed within their app settings rather than done through Sonar.

Depending on what kind of mic you have, you might or might not have a built-in volume knock you can adjust. Other sources to check are your windows audio source settings which has it's own mic volume, Discord (or whatever you're using for chat) & Sonar itself.

If that's still not enough, you can download equalizer APO & some free amplifier pluggins to add extra gain, but honestly I doubt you would need that.

This is gonna sound dumb, but have you checked if your cable is plugged in all the way? I've accidentally done that before & it can get you similar results to what you're describing. Otherwise, I wouldn't really know as I don't own an Arctis.

is the GG sonar app are just kinda bad ? spent time figuring out how to trigger fallback when HS are off to speaker but no luck
have arctis 9 and when it turned off it is still showing as connected on device even the device status are "reconnect headset" so fallback never trigger, unless i unplug the dongle which fallback trigger just fine

why not just make reconnect headset status as trigger for fallback mechanic, or even easier allow us to set hotkey to switch all playback to whatever we want to

yes, when you change the configuration from the drop down menu then the settings change, however what I'm looking for is if you can somehow make those configurations change automatically when you start a different game without having to manually select the configuration for that game

For example in the mixer menu. You can drag an app into either Game, Chat, Media, Aux or Mic and when you start up that app it will automatically be in the one you put it in. So for example I have spotify in "Media" and my browser in "Aux", when I listen to music on spotify it uses the configuration of Media and when I listen to videos on my browser it uses the configuration in Aux. However what I want is to take this one step deeper and have the configurations themselves change based on the app I'm using. So I can have both spotify and my browser in the "Media" tab and it only changes the configuration inside that category based on which one I'm using

I'm on Windows 10, trying to use Sonar's mic settings on my stream. Sonar itself will pic up my mic, and edit it, but when I open OBS it fails to pick up anything from Sonar. Despite my mic working, other programs fail to pick up my voice after being run thru Sonar.
I have tried turning Sonar off and on again, erasing my settings and redoing them, I have triple checked that my mic is registered, I have restarted OBS, I have now also tried fiddling with Sonar's other features to see if using more somehow would fix that, I have restarted my computer, and in the past uninstalling and reinstalling steelseries itself has worked but I'd really prefer that not be part of my day-to-day just to use this program. I've also tested Sonar with other programs that have a mic- But like I said, my mic without Sonar will work, but once I ask it to go through Sonar there is no input.
I really like the effect Sonar has and how intuitive it is, so I'd prefer not to switch to something else, but does this have a fix?

first make sure your account isnt broken somehow by logging into the website and see if password etc works. then go back to gg. you could uninstall and reinstall it. you could also delete any registry entries associated with it (just a guess)

Now i have tried with sonar to mix my own pre-sets or change the new eq sets to my own preferations. Then I‘d looking for the mechanic to transfer theese Pre-sets to the GameDac, but I don‘t know how ? In the last few days my sonar has had loading times of upwards of 5 minutes with no finish. Ending the task tree doesn't help or restarting the PC. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the application and it is still broken. I shutdown my PC yesterday and when I turned it on it worked fine for a bit, I left and came back after it had gone to sleep and Sonar broke again, restarting doesn't work but completely shutting down the computer and starting it up normally fixed it for some reason.

Any ideas on a more permanent fix than shutting down?

I do something like that in OBS studio, should be doable in Streamlabs.

Output your Sonar game/CS2 to your headphones, normal way. In Streamlabs, if possible, set your Desktop audio to your headphones, not Sonar. Streamlabs will pick up the "raw" audio before it goes through Sonar.

Keep in mind that I use OBS Studio, not Streamlabs OBS. The only thing I know about Streamlabs is that it is based on OBS. I also don't currently use a Steelseries headset, so I blurred the name of the competitor in this image. If possible, set your desktop audio to your headset earphone as I have, not to Steelseries Sonar output.

In fact, I wrote about it earlier, but it still hasn't been resolved, which makes me a bit surprised and sad at the same time.
After returning from the streamer mode (turned on completely out of curiosity), the problem with the return of the main volume value after each start of the computer, and the GG application unfortunately returned, which is strange, I did not notice it when the streamer mode was active, all settings were saved correctly in the application memory.

well, technically the volume wheel issue is also an issue on the older arctis headsets with chatmix, it's just that it's more obvious now with sonar.

When you use the volume wheel on the keyboard, it just tells windows "please lower the volume of the main audio device." So if you have an older Arctis headset with on-board chatmix, it would lower the volume of the "Game" output and wouldn't lower the volume of the "Chat" output.

But since Sonar has way more audio devices (Game, Chat, Media, Aux) it's a lot more obvious that the volume wheel only lowers the Game output. You can just ignore the other Media/Aux devices and just output everything through Game and it would work all the same as it used to without Sonar, it's just that you'd need to keep GG running for the Sonar devices to be available.

Gotcha! Well from my testing, you shouldn't have to restart the app, it should take affect right away normally. But I have noticed bugs, dealing with one of my own also.

Hello all! Question… I just recently got my nova 7x and I love it. Been messing with some settings and use it currently for my Xbox series X. When it comes to noise cancelling using sonar I have seen the videos and ads for clear cast but was wondering. Does this feature actually work on Xbox? Or is it something that only works if I have them hooked to my PC?

The mic picks up every little noise right now and I’d love to get some of this sorted.

Judging by the fact that the sonar is an application that needs to be ran through a computer, I don't believe that would work through a headset without internal memory, even if it has internal memory chip, that seems very unlikely! I do not know for a fact, but I feel confident to say the sonar app, would not work through your console.

Yeah, if they did something along those lines I could def see that, as of right now it doesn't appear to be anything like that yet. Which honestly is really silly, because anyone who knows software knows that xbox and microsoft is closer than just companies in terms of OS.

It does appear that they have firmware updates for the artis nova pro headset that you can sync those EQ settings to the headset, that article is from 2019, so there might be something I don't know currently.

Hello. Recently I noticed that my CPU shows 100% utilization in more demanding games. I was looking for the cause for a long time, I changed the graphic presets of the games to reduce their resource consumption, but it didn't help, only turning off the GG application seems to bring some results. i suggest using it with noise gate and play with the bar also if ai is not working good use noise reduction play with the bars to mute noise in the best way you like its like a manual way to do it and i hope they will make it more user friendly atm you need like sound engineering to degree to understand it

Pretty sure i know your problem, windows is using handset audio drivers for them because they have a microphone which reduced the audio bitrate extemely low

Same thing happens to my sony-XM4's and Skullcandy crusher evo's

It takes some removal of drivers to fix it in windows

it has nothing to do with sonar or even gg it's all windows's doing iit

sonar just takes the base drivers for your audio device and passes it through another set of drivers. it doesn't replace the drivers your device already has

Also is there any possibility dev's could make a preset for sonar media to flatten the nova's audio completely for music creation? the curve for the headset is on rttings and soundguys

Ususally once connected, many bluetooth headphones have two devices itll show up as, one being a handset driver in the device list in control panel

Optionally you can try disabling the eabud's microphone in the windows sound settings

I wasn't refering to the airpods/pro/max 3D audio software i was refering to the sony/Dolby version thats been around for 8 or so years

It would've been pretty obvious airpods would work as expected on a mac since apple is super good at making their products work together, but suck at making them work with anything else

I've heard the Airpods lines 3D audio doesnt work on android or windows

So keep that in mind if you're using a regular pc

I've tried stopping all process of Steelseries, adding Steelseries GG to the firewall and executing Steelseries GG as admin (in that order). Sonar loaded, worked for me right now

Not sure if adding it to the firewall is useful tho

Hmm maybe, but I've found softwares like Chatmix or Voicemod difficult to use because they often create their own input/output device which is very finicky and easy to misuse.

Sorry I'm not much of use, I've haven't really used Chatmix, I'd recommend looking for someone that frequently uses that, they may be able to show you exactly what settings they have or if there is something else going on.

You have to go to your volume mixer thru your pc and adjust each application manually you can go to each app and change the device input/output.

I'm still learning sonar, but from my understanding, Sonar would be your main audio mixer. Therefore it controls all your volume. Unless you remove it from the equation

Less distortion and better surround sound and details. bass is alot heftier and full feeling without any clipping with dts

for games though dts is good, its just imo made for music and movies so sonar tbh has better sounds if you play a competitive fps

Sonar's surround setting has a bad habit of blending instruments together when its suppesed to seperate them is one reason dts is better for music on the steelseries arctis nova pro aswell
