Might as well post here then: I realize the Arctis 1 (wired) is the budget option, but is it normal for the mic to be very, VERY, VERY quiet? With ~60 ish volume and +10 db boost in Windows 10 sound settings. Boosting to 100/+20 makes it louder, of course – but then the mic sound is awful with tons of noise. Yes, it's plugged in all the way, turned the correct way and about an inch away from my mouth. Some random googling shows a bunch of people with the same issue, but no solutions.

My Arctis 7’s sound vastly different on my laptop, compared to my desktop, with the exact same windows, SE3 and equalizer settings.
It’s not like the quality is worse, but the mix is very different, and I’d need to use completely different settings to achieve the same sound as on my desktop.

This really doesnt make sense to me, cause would the sound card or anything affect the sound when it’s through usb??

Hi, new here, I'm try to search an answer to my issue but haven't had any luck. I bought an Artics 1 Wireless for my Switch, tried them on my Switch and the sound is kinda underwhelming, though it could get better with the Engine app, tried several EQ settings but they still doesn't sound at a level of quality that I could get comfortable. To discard any issues with the headset itself I tried listen a music theme on Switch YouTube app, then tried the same theme on my PC and there's noticeable improvement in audio quality, I'm on Win10 with no special driver or anything, so I wonder why my headphones sound better on PC than they do on Switch when the audio source (YouTube) is the same.

Open Windows settings, go to sound, over on the right side click on "sound control panel", scroll down to find the Chat output of your headset, select it and click properties, go to the advanced tab and in the drop down menu select the second from the bottom option which should say (CD quality) next to it

I had to do the same thing with my Arctis 5s since for whatever reason the ChatMix can't handle streaming both Game and Chat channels at 48000hz at the same time

If I get a pro-wireless and add some super glue to the inside where the hinge is. Would that breach warranty? I don’t want it breaking on me, but I also don’t want to risk the warranty which is 2 years in the U.K. still?

The hinge isn't so bad that you'll want to super glue it. I've had my current set for around 7 or so months now (have had it replaced twice for other issues). Just be careful when you take off the headset - don't stretch it too much.

I've had a pair of APW since before they came out and their hinges are still in perfect condition

And I've pretty much daily driven them since I got them

The hinges are def a challenge for some but I wouldn't say it's a problem for everyone. Not even close

It's mostly because of Reddit being an echo chamber, I think. The steelseries subreddit is filled with the same thing over and over again - makes it seem like there are more of them than there actually are.

I've been daily driving the Arctis 5 for 3 years now and it has that similar hinge design to the APW and mine are still in perfect condition, and I haven't exactly been nice to them either. They've been thrown around and even tossed inside a backpack to travel with on more than one occasion

Basically, as long as you're not pulling directly on the hinge piece itself you shouldn't have a problem

So basically, the cable for by rival 600 stopped working, it would cut out and occasionally the rgb would work, except the steelseries logo would stay off and the sensor wouldn’t work

But the cable itself works(as seen in the photo), and the mouse works if I use a different micro usb cable, so what’s going on? I’ve tried forcing it in incase it wasn’t fully plugged in but the cable doesn’t budge any further

Follow the instructions to repair the headset to the dongle. If that doesn't work, factory reset it via the pinhole in the left ear cup behind the cushion. If that doesn't fix it either then make a ticket through #official-support

If either of the PCs have an optical audio port I would hook it up that way rather than trying to use the 3.5mm jacks

Mostly because I know you can use USB and Optical on two devices at the same time with the base station

I was having great support with my problems with the arctis 5 when I recently bought it. But when time started to really matter, the support just ghosted me and now I'm not getting any luck with getting answers from the people who get payed to do so, so now I'm reaching out to y'all for some help/guidance on some of SS's products.

First question:
Does the arctis 1 (wireless) or arctis 3 (bluetooth) provide any form of surround sound?

Second question:
I bought the arctis 5 and it feels like the sidetone function sounds a little bit robotic, does anyone else have this feeling with that headset? If so, is the sidetone higher quality on the arctis 7?

Third question:
Can the arctis 1 (wireless) or the arctis 7 be connected via a wire too (preferably USB), or is that just for charging?

Fourth and final question:
When you turn off the headsets mic with the on-headset switch, a red rgb lits up inside the mic. Is this on every arctis headset? It's not that big of a deal of course but I just wanted to know 😁

1. Arctis 1 and 3 support Window Sonic surround sound.

2. I've experienced the sidetone to be a bit robotic on the 7 as well but it's perfectly manageable. I can't speak for the difference between them.

3. They can be connected via 3.5mm jack, my 7s don't work to use while charging.

4. The headset mic on some headsets can change with rgb. Most just go red, but some like my arctis pro wired have rgb functionality. I'm guessing it depends if they have other rgb as well.

Open sound settings in Windows, click on sound control panel from the options on the right side, find the Arctis Pro Game output, select it and click properties, go to the advanced tab, click the drop down under "Default Format" and select the highest quality setting listed which will either be DVD quality or Studio quality I'm not quite sure how high the Pros will go

Look at my audio devices on the bottom right. They started out as arctis 7 chat and arctis 7 game. I am now up to 3 arctis 7 chat and 2 arctis 7 game. Anyone know what causes this changing of device names and how to reset and prevent this. Pretty sure this is what fubars my chatmix.

For some reason a setting changed and my output device is Arctis 7 game, and my input is arctis 7 chat, this allows me to use the little volume mixer, but when I select arctis 7 chat for output it sounds wayyyy better than the game? It was normal for a few weeks but it just changed for some reason

hm, not entirely sure. if you use something like a surround sound headset, maybe try switching which audio device Moments reads?? for example, on Razer headsets, you may have the actual headset audio output and then smth like "THX Surround." make sure it's picking up the actual headset input. other than that, maybe try elevated permissions if you haven't already.

make sure there's no other programs fiddling with your sound too, something like Voicemeeter or to that effect. if there is, maybe try boiling down another place where it can pick up audio. not specifically Voicemeeter, but it's just an example.

I'm sure you have, but try another usb port. if that didn't work, unplug the keyboard go to Device Manager. at the top, click View > Show hidden devices and uninstall every device you see under your keyboard name. after that, plug it back in, wait till Windows says it's ready to go, and then check the engine again. if that doesn't work, maybe try factory resetting it.

try downloading the installer from the website and running that? you shouldn't loose any of your custom profiles.

that should simply replace any old installation files with the new version. if that doesn't work, I guess try removing it completely and restarting Windows. that will erase custom profiles that aren't onboard tho, if you don't have them backed up.

as I said earlier, uninstall it completely from the device manager and maybe try factory resetting it? unplug, show hidden devices in device manager, uninstall each one under your keyboard, plug it back in, wait for windows to say it's done.

I'm not all too familiar with MSI, unfortunately. integrated keyboards can be finicky in my experience, even my integrated keyboard is loose at times with its RGB. my best advice is to maybe look on the MSI website, see if there's a keyboard firmware update for your model. if that doesn't work, maybe look and see if MSI's RGB software is controlling the keyboard, making it invisible to GG. I'm not sure if that's even possible, but it's worth the check.

that could be an issue with the speaker itself. either from a short, decay, or simply playing something too loud. I had that happen to my Arctis 7, which led me get a new headset after trying a few things. make sure the usb dongle isn't part of the issue, maybe the chatmix is causing the issue.

do maybe try again with the usb pass through plugged in. I know for most devices to do a firmware update, they need basically every way you can plug them in to be plugged in. I think it's just a reassurance that everything gets updated as it should, maybe SteelSeries just doesn't make that clear.

check Windows sound settings. right click the volume button in the task bar and click sound.

in the panel that appears, go to the recording tab and double click on your device. then, go to the listen tab. make sure "Listen to this device" is turned off.

question about the apex pro tkl spacebar, is it supposed to be loose when you first press it down, then it presses. the same developed on my old one but way harsher but I never really noticed it first hand. like it's scratchy at the start then it smooths out. this may be pre travel
