Sonar settings are not saved to the headset or DAC, you can only use SONAR on a PC.

You can use the gg engine EQ from the PC or set the EQ right from the DAC for the PS5/XBOX.

hey, ive got an aerox 5 mouse and the lights on it suddenly turned off and it stopped working.i plugged it out and when i plugged it in again, it flashed for a moment but it wasnt picked up by my pc. the red laser sensor on the bottom is on when its plugged in and i tested if the cable was the problem but the cable works with other devices as its a usb to usb c cable. any ideas as to what could be wrong or what i could try doing? thanks

uninstall gg yes uninstall to do this goto search type control panel enter control panel top right if it says catagory drop it down and select large icons this will show the proper control panel apps then scroll to find and click "programs and features" then in the window scroll until you find steelseries and highlight and click uninstall then click back until your in control panel again and click "explorer file and folder options" then select "show hidden files, folders and drives" click apply and ok close goto c drive and delete steelseries from "programfiles" and " programfiles (x86) " and "programdat" unplug your device reboot and before you plug back into a different port install gg login to your account plug your device back in and activate sonar ....... it should then work properly (edited)

ok so i am going to say the whole story as fast as i can....I wanted some new good headphones so i got the white arctis 5 they were great i really like them when one day the material that is around the cable that is after the chat mixer ripped and the copper or whatever it is got out and the audio broke so i bought a new cable for 30 euros its 10 but 20 shipping and now idk why but the mic stopped working but i still had audio i checked everything and nothing until i played a bit with the new cable and it made a sound i tried to fix it and when i have it a certain way the mic works but it also pics EVERY SINGLE sound keyboard youtube everything and now i dont want to buy a new cable again what should i do?

afaik it's not an issue, the new KBs have a new lighting system, this is just how it is. each of the on-board configs has a different default lighting so try switching configs to see if there's one you're ok with

the KB has 5 on-board profiles which can be used to save keybinds, actuation, etc. they also have different lighting built in so you can visually see which profile you're on. so i'm suggesting looking through the profiles (with the software closed) to find out which config has the lighting you like, and then make any changes to that profile like actuation.

like, i think the orange one is config 2?

not sure since the minis don't have an oLED which tells you what config you're on

Hi, odd question, I just compared benchmarks of arctis 7, 7(2019), 7p and 7x and latency of 7(2019) is absurd there, I always thought that those headphones have the same technology/acustics profile, just differ in branding and plugs, am I right and this test site is incompetent, or do those differences make sense?

there's two possibilities:

1. The 7P/7X/7+ use a different wireless dongle than the original Arctis 7, which may have improvements

2. The original Arctis 7 does come with virtual surround sound from DTS. Audio played through DTS will have a longer delay so that the app can process it. It may be possible this site forgot to disable it to check the normal delay. The 7P/7X/7+ doesn't have DTS.

I think 2 is right, arctis 7.2019 were released in same batch as 7p/7x while 7+ was released later with 7p+/7x+, but DTS could be the reason

Hi everybody, thank you for being here, I hope somebody can give me some useful tips.

I'm the owner of an "Arctis Nova Pro Wireless" and I have a Windows/Audio related problem.
At this moment I have "SteelSeries Sonar - Gaming" as default on Windows audio and inside Sonar I choose the Nova Pro as output. So far so good.
The problem comes when I turn off the headphones to listen through the "line out" where my speakers are connected (directly to the base with a mini-jack cable). When I do so Windows keeps the "SteelSeries Sonar - Gaming" as default, but inside Sonar everything changes! In Sonar under "game reproduction" I now have "Steam Streaming Microphone", the same under chat. So Sonar changes the output to the microphone for some mysterious reason when I turn off the headphones.

The only way I found to work with this is to set the headphones as default under Windows Audio, but when I do so Sonar is not happy about and wants me to change it automatically, If I do so I cannot hear the music anymore until I turn on the headphones.

So where is my error?
Should I have "Artis Nova Pro Wireless" as default on windows audio and ignore Sonar message or there is another configuration?

In the settings there should be the option to turn on/off audio redirection when the headset turns off

You need to turn device fallback off in the main settings, that way Sonar Gaming is always your audio device since you are using the DAC for line out (speakers)

I only just got the Aerox 5 Wired for maybe 3-4 months now.
AND again the damn f'ing scroll is dying.

I started with sensei to rival 710 blk to now aerox 5 and on all of them within 3-6 months the scroll break down.

When scrolling through pages or through my DAW(digital audio workstation) it keeps stuttering as in going up and down while i want it to go down.

Next thing i know the clicker will break too.

Fun part is, i'm so scared of using the scroll wheel on the aerox so how could it even break like this now?

I'm using nvdia's shadowplay to clip my games, but there is no discord audio becuase it's in the "Chat" output

That would probably be one way to do it, chose the output in discord as sonar gaming but then there won’t be any chat mix for discord so you’ll have to adjust its level indivisible in discord

I’m not familiar with shadow play but basically Sonar gaming is your main audio device so if the app is only pulling from that source you will need to make sure discord is part of it

Sonar uses sonar gaming virtual device as the main audio, and it uses a separate virtual device for communication which is the chat device.

If you have discord input/output settings as sonar devices like chat/mic that’s probably why Nvidia is not picking them up, on my discord I also have the option to chose my headset as the input and output for example and that may work for you

If not, then like you said you would need something like OBS. Specially since you are losing basically giving up Sonar when you chose anything other than Sonar input/output in the app

If you go to the #sonar channel, I linked a couple of videos that cover some OBS set up with sonar if you end up going that route

Greetings, I have been a long-time owner of an Arctis 7. Great headset, great range, great audio...
However, a not-so-great feature of the entire family of these headsets is the 'ski goggle' headband. I have gone through 3 of them over the time I have had the headset, and that seems like a weak point of the system. They stretch out too much, too soon.
And I just looked on the website to order yet another one, and they're $15! Plus shipping? (I thought the last one I ordered was $7...)
Anyway... I'm here (on discord) because I wanted to find out if there are any alternatives to the stretchy (and expensive) ski goggle headband solution?

Hey, I've been using the Arctis 7 for a while without any problems. But suddenly my Chatmix wont function. I believe I have both the Gaming and Chat outputs set up correctly but when I adjust the chatmix dial nothing happens. I don't know if this is a hardware or software problem. Can someone help?
Edit: Also, the dial in Sonar doesn't move when I adjust it, either. I don't know if it's suppose to or not so I'll just put that here

Just looking at the Steelseries Engine software I don't find any setting that would affect the chatmix, so that may be hardware all the way.
Is the output fixed to one or the other (chat vs. game)?

So I just recently got the arctis 1 wireless headset and noticed that the audio sounded distant/muffled does anyone have some tips to fix it? I've been told that I could just turn on sonar's surround sound or something, but that didn't really seem to work...

Is there any way to "lock" the Audio device in Sonar? Is keeps chaning back to the Headset itself with every reboot. I want to keep it just the way it is but I can´t seem to find a setting to make a profile or lock the settings or set this as standard.

needing a little help, my sonar wont play sound thru my Deity VO-7U's headphone jack. I tested just the headphone jacks audio and it works by its self. The headset needs to be on before you can turn Bluetooth on. Unfortunately with the Arctis 9 there's no way to turn just the Bluetooth on and leave the 2.4ghz off

I have an Artic Pro 5, and since the update, my mic won't work. First it was when I launched an app with sound. ( Browsing on chrome was fine, but the instant I went on youtube, the mic went mute ). Since then, it just won't work at all.
I had the same problem previously on Warthunder. When I launched the game, my mic on discord went mute, but I fixed that by switching the voice chat option on the game.
I then encounter the same problem on MW2, my mic went silent the moment the game launched. I then did the GG update, I thought maybe that was the problem, but it worsen the whole thing.
So yeah, I'm waiting for an answer from the support.

And in a second time, Sonar don't want to keep the Nova Pro Wireless as default device. He change for another one each reboot even if it selected by default.

Oh and just a question, is there a sound played when you're low in battery and when the headset shutoff because no battery at all? I never heard something for this while it's very common in others brands.

Hi, I have Arctis 7+ and whenever my battery dies out and I recharge my headset, theres no Power on noise until I reset the hardware by inserting a pin into the hardware reset button. This has been the most frequent issue i've been dealing with ever since I bought my headset, but now my headset wont even connect to my PC. I've tried using both a USB, bluetooth dongle, and both but nothing seems to work. Has anyone else experienced this and/or have a fix ?

Device fallback is only triggered at turning off the headset. If you start your PC when headset is turned off, the device won't fall back. Don't know if it is intended.

I know how device fallback is intended to work, that’s not what my suggestion is about for his specific issue. There is a glitch for some users after an update where the chat mix does not do anything if you move the slide one way or the other and the only way to reset it is by unplugging the USB from the PC or re-pairing the headset to the DAC if it has one

I think what you are hearing is the ANC working, it’s not really noticeable unless you’re in a completely quiet place with no ambient noise.

There is a slight buzzing from the BT receiver when you first turn on BT and also if your on a call.

You can test if what you’re hearing is the ANC by simple having both ANC and BT on, then tap the power button on the headset once to turn off ANC.

You can do the same thing with ANC on, and then hold the BT button off on the headset to turn it off and then press and hold it until BT turns on again and you should hear the BT receiver slightly buzz when turning on.

If it’s something else then I would say go for the exchange

This only happens momentarily and pretty sure is nornal

Hello guys, I have a problem with my arctis 5 mic side tone feature. I tried to uninstall the software and reinstalling it, didn't do anything. Besides when I open my configs to open side tone it doesn't work. Furthermore if I try to open live preview on a microfone and close, it works as soon as I close the window and then it still does not work. I don't know it's from my arctis 5 unit or my computer. i'm thinking about buying the wireless version. i have some questions:
-do you like it? what is your feel for it, generally speaking?
-how is the battery life? it is said that you get about 36 hours on 1 source with 2 batteries fully charged. is that so?
-how is the ANC? is it there just to check a box for the marketing team, or do you actually like it?
-do you get connectivity issues?
-is the part connecting the earcup to the headband sturdy? i've read some comments about it breaking, on previous models.
-is steelseries' own software crap? usually the official softwares (like logitech g hub, corsair icue etc) are crap.
-there are "xbox" and "pc & ps5" versions. from what i can tell, "xbox" version can connect to everything else the "pc & ps5" version AND xbox (naturally). did i get it right? i don't have an xbox or ps5, not even thinking about getting one. but you never know.

i wish there were some reviews from the channels i trust. for example one dude was talking about the battery life without mentioning that the product comes with 2 batteries. which made me question if he even used it.

I just enabled Sonar. My problem is: When I went on Discord and changed the input and output from SteelSeries DAC Certified to what it says to do on the Discord setup on the support page my mic started to pickup a lot of feedback.

recently upgraded from an artis 5 to a Nova Pro Wired, cant say im particularly happy at the moment, the site says the headset supports chatmix, i had assumed this would be the same as chatmix on the artis 5 however it seams to be software based unlike the artis 5, this is adding latency and occasional stutters which is difficult to deal with, im also having issues where the display on the DAC when displaying messages only refreshes half the screen and the worst issue im having is some times playing some games (TrackMania is the most common atm) causes the headset to crash, which then crashes out OBS and the game, which is very annoying, i dont know if the issue is in the Nova or Sonar but im not sure where to progress, this is a brand new install of windows, all Sonar apps disabled etc wondering if their is something ive missed, or if i should return the Nova and go back to my artis 5

Having a problem with Discord not detecting any sound with Sonar, Mic is working in the Sonar app but not in Discord, I have the input output set correctly.

yeah that didn't work but i found out there was some sort of driver issue with Sonar, the regular Arctis mic was inputting my voice but Sonar won't output it

So I reinstalled it

and it works again

Unplug the USB from the pc, it’s glitched. It does that when there’s an update sometimes

yeah separate and i use nvidia broadcast app. but that have never been an issiue.

think i have never tryed the mic on the headset before xD

The chat mix will only work on the DAC when that is connected, sometimes it glitches and even though you can visually see the mix go one way or the other it doesn’t do anything.

To unglitch if you can usually unplug the usb or simply re-pair the headset to the DAC.

It also seems to do the same for device fallback btw if you use that

Hey guys quick questions Are you also experience that the SteelSeries GG software sometimes after ~9 hours simply closes itself? I work from home, so it often that my PC is turned on for 9 hours and more and I use my headset without any problems. After a little over 9 hours I noticed that often SteelSeries GG shuts down (for whatever reason) and my sound jumps from now on to my speakers because it no longer finds the virtual audio devices.

If it’s a 3.5mm headset make sure the plugs are plugged all the way in, if it’s a USB headset try another usb port on the pc

It usually only happens after GG auto-updates itself. If it's happening every time you boot your PC or launch GG then you should try doing a clean uninstall and then reinstall the latest version

In that case, if you haven't already you can try reparing the headset to the base station or resetting the headset with the little pinhole behind the left ear cup. If all else fails you should reach out to #official-support and see if they can help you out anymore

If the software you are trying to use has sound settings for input/output device then you will need to have it pointing to Sonar Game or chat and sonar mic. Similar to the discord set up, you can see the sample guide pinned if you click this channels name under Pins
