Hey, I noticed chat mix is not working with sonar on my arctis nova 7. I move the dial but it is not effecting the slider in gg. If i restart sonar, the slider will be at wherever the slider was when it was reenabled.

Unplug the dongle from the PC and plug it back in. That should fix the ChatMix dial. It sometimes like to break after GG updates for some reason

That'd be a setting with your PC's USB power share function, not the keyboard itself

Hello! Yesterday I bought a brand new Arctis Nova 1P, and unfortunately I can't use it'ts mic. Can someone help me? I've read a lot of forums and arctiles about it, so please don't say anything like "did you plug it correctly". I've checked everything minimum 3x. My pc sense the mic and I've set it to default device, I updated all of the sound drivers, and I've bought a 3.5mm jack distibutor that splits the mic jack and the headphone jack, bc I've seen in videos this would help, but not for me. I've plugged it to the motherboard directly, and I plugged it to the pc case, but nothing. I can hear everything in the headphone, what's more If I listen to music and I make a mic test (in dc or in gg) I can hear back the music, but not my voice. Discord sense my voice, and orange lines appear when I speak during a mic test, but I can't hear back my voice, and no one hear my voice in a voice room. I think my pc has the problem, because I checked with my phone, and it worked. If someone had the same problem as me, and know the solution for it, please write it down and tag me, or send it to DM. Are you using Sonar?

If so, post screenshots of the following 3 things:

1. Sonar page showing game/chat/mic

2. Windows sound panel > playback devices

3. Windows sound panel > recording devices

Not sure if that headset has a reset feature but if it does you can try that, or follow the FAQ pages

I would disconnect the headset, completely uninstall gg and delete all folders, reboot then install gg and connect headset.
If that doesn’t work then you’ll need to open a ticket or follow through the official SS #official-support channel

In windows playback devices you need to make sure the game and chat are the defaults (they have the little headset icon)

But just follow the guide to make sure there’s nothing else happening.

Then in Discord, input need to be set to Sonar Mic and output to Sonar Chat

Most, if not ALL of the issues we see related to Sonar/Headset audio is because it wasn’t setup correctly or there was an update and somewhere along windows/gg/app changed the audio device settings.

You need to make sure the devices are selected correctly.

Looking for some help on my Arctis 7+.. Was a windows update i guess and now my Sonar software does not work. Head set works but the software does not. All settings show they are default. Master volume in sonar will not do anything.

Easy fix, just need to reset the default devices in windows and make sure the inputs are correctly selected in sonar and any apps/games you use.

Having issues with the new 2023 wired Apex Pro TKLs display - it is having issues displaying gifs. It appears normal in the SteelSeries software, but displays at a higher speed and freezes repeatedly on the keyboard itself. It is the same file I used on my last gen APTKL.

Firmware and software is up to date

Removing the file altogether and inverting the display (making it all white) also shows ghosting from the SteelSeries logo. I guess it’s just a bad unit?

A bit of feedback: Soner Arctic Nova Wireless Pro is the first set of headphones where I need to spend hours debugging why I don't have sound. This kind of ruins those nice Sunday morning gaming sessions. Sonar software is just very buggy. Thos virtual audio devices stop working pretty randomly but especially bad after every windows update.

Hi there, just bought an Steelseries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless and got the problem with the microphones in the ear cups pinching my ears. Im thinking about technically removing the microphones from the headset but im unsure if this will only destroy the anc or the headset overall. Please don’t destroy your headset. There’s 3rd party adapters that allow you to use 3rd party cushions, the steelseries Reddit or Google should pull up a couple of options if you do a search

The adapters can be 3rd printed or ordered but they just make it so you can use the other cushions, YouTube has a couple of good videos on it from the last two weeks

Most, if not all of the audio/sonar software related issues we see here it’s because the set up is not correct or has been updated by some device, program, or update.

Follow the guide below for Sonar, and the link after that for Discord. In same games you will also need to make sure the audio input and output is pointing to the correct devices.

Hey there, so I recently upgraded to the Nova 7, since my Arctis 7's charging port is broken and I just keep having issues with the ChatMix.
Things always work fine for a while, but once my CPU load goes up, say from loading a game or whatever, ChatMix just breaks. Whatever audio stream is open can't be adjusted anymore. Moving the dial will affect the slider in Sonar and generally also work fine for either the chat or the game side, but the other side is stuck at whatever volume it was. I have to completely cut the audio stream by closing the game, video or discord call and start a new one, before it works again.

So this is not one of the usual issues where one output just doesn't work, or whatever.
Like.. right now I can't change the volume of the VC I'm in anymore, for example.
Sometimes restarting the applications doesn't help either and the audio stream is stuck at the volume level I had the dial at, when I opened the app

Actually it happens even with the test sounds in the sonar app. Game volume changes, Chat volume doesn't, right now.

I bought the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless for PC/PS5 yesterday. I was able to set them up quickly with no problems and they work fine with the PS5.

The issues start when I try and use Bluetooth. They pair fine but then lose connection to my iPhone invariably, sometimes they work again after turning the headsets on and off but sometimes they don’t. If they don’t work I need to clear pairing on the DAC (every time).

Linked to this, once they lose connection, I am unable to turn the headset off, pressing and holding the on/off button doesn’t work - the only way I can turn them off is by removing the battery. Both white and blue lights stay flashing intermittently.

I thought maybe if I update the firmware that will fix the issue but Engine can’t find my device but the laptop sees it.

Anybody else experienced similar issues? 😦

This may be a weird "question" I have recently been unable to put in alt codes. I normally can do ALT + 1 + 4 to get a music note, but I am not able to anymore. The alt key isn't bound to anything else, nor is it deactivated.

I ran into some issues with Sonar the fix for me was to uninstall GG, download all of the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Runtimes (idk which one it is you need. There is a all in one download on github) & install them, re-install Sonar. It seems like the redistributable that came with GG just didn't install properly.

I just bought the Arena Wireless Mic because I liked the idea of a mic with AI cancellation that can work with my speakers (I have the Arctis Pro Wireless for when I want headset but I do like my z906 speakers). I am looking at the website right now and it says AI Noise Cancelling Mic and does not indicate anything else required for the AI NC to work. I also note that Engine does not see them and I am wondering if that is normal.

I would try to reset the headset, I believe the nova 7 has the small pinhole hard reset button that you can press with a staple or SIM card tool. Google just to make sure but I’m pretty sure it does

I would disconnect the mouse and uninstall GG and any remaining folders, reboot, then reinstall and replug the mouse just to trouble shoot that it’s not anything glitched in the profile or driver

Most, if not all of the audio/sonar software related issues we see here is because the set up is not correct or has been updated by some device, program, or update.

When I change my config profile without the software the keyboard misses one of the onboard profiles.
I finds 2/3/4/work - So number 1 is gone until I start GG. Can I get it back in & how did it jump out?

When I plug my keyboard into a dock(Acer) the board goes bananas after a while resulting that I need to unplug/re-plug for it to work. During the Banana dance, it makes all sorts of inputs and doesnt let me do any of my own inputs.

No, it stays paired through battery or source changes

If you change the battery while the headset is still on then it'll disconnect from the DAC, but if you put the new battery in within about 8 seconds the headset will auto-reconnect

my headset seems to unpair everytime i do that and then i cannot put it to pair mode (its stuck in a blinking white led state, not the fast pairing one) in which case i detach my battery for about 10 minutes in order to get to pair again

Yeah that's not how it's supposed to work. Try resetting the headset. There should be a pinhole you can stick a paperclip into for about ten seconds that put it back to the stock firmware. If the problem persists through a reset then you should make a ticket through #official-support using the little chat icon in the bottom right corner and see if they can help you out more

Follow the pinned post exactly and make sure everything is set up correctly, the Sonar Gaming device is that you need to use for the main audio output.

Once everything is set up correctly in Sonar, Windows, and any game or app (the games’s sound settings need to also point to the right outputs and inputs) see if it works, if it doesn’t then you can start to trouble shoot other things but follow the guides exactly first

The settings in the game also need to match those inputs/output devices.

If that doesn’t help; see if there are any other game settings for sample rate etc? I believe someone had an issue with crackling/popping noise because they’re game had a sample rate setting that did not match the output they were using.

The other way to stop that from happening is to disable the Nvidia device in the windows playback device list and or don’t select the express install for Nvidia driver and uncheck the audio driver but that would only work if you never use the** monitor speakers lol

all the issues i've had since yesterday:

1. cant pair the headset to DAC normally, power led is always blinking (not the fast blink that indicates pairing mode) and cannot even turn it off by holding the power button.

• ive somehow found a way to pair it but im pretty sure its not normal. i take off the battery (just so the headset turns off) for about 10-20 minutes and then try to get into pairing mode from there which works, but yeah its not normal to wait 10-20 minutes just to pair it

2. switching the battery unpairs the headset from DAC (in which case i have to do the workaround for issue #1)
3. using bluetooth mode unpairs headset from DAC (same thing)
   that's about it, i just bought this yesterday

If so, I would try and uninstall steelseries gg and any remaining folders, reboot, and then reinstall?

@vague dewi have exactly the same headset please check all connections cables and pc settings as this headset works perfectly out of the box also to firmware update you need to have the base unit and the headset both connected direct to pc to hardware reset the headset remove the left earcup and you will find the small pinhole please hardware reset as per steelseries instructions

uninstall gg yes uninstall to do this goto search type control panel enter control panel top right if it says catagory drop it down and select large icons this will show the proper control panel apps then scroll to find and click "programs and features" then in the window scroll until you find steelseries and highlight and click uninstall then click back until your in control panel again and click "explorer file and folder options" then select "show hidden files, folders and drives" click apply and ok close. goto c drive and delete steelseries from "programfiles" and " programfiles (x86) " and "programdat" unplug your device reboot and before you plug back into a different port install gg login to your account plug your device back in and activate sonar ....... it should then work properly

Hi! I have an Arctis 9 headset and I'm having an issue for the last 2 - 3 weeks. When my headset moves like a bit to little up or down, it gets cut off. Like, I can't move my headset without it being disconnected. There isn't any issue with the bluetooth, actually it stays on whatever I do so it seems there isn't any problem with this but for my wireless connection, it cuts of. There is also a weird cable noise in my right ear cup when it happens or sometimes randomly as well. It isn't an old Arctis 9, I just bought it probably few months ago and it is really frustrating.

Got my steelseries apex pro set to automatically switch profiles when switching between applications, and I think this is breaking the LEDS
Occassionally the LEDS will all just turn off and not come back on despite switching profiles.
I need to unplug and plug the keyboard back in to fix.

Any idea on how to prevent this / if I should make a formal bug report / if this is indicative of a hardware malfunction?

I think the app switching in GG is a little odd since it looks for whatever window you have active to switch profiles, which can cause issues if you're constantly switching between applications, tabbing out of games, etc. it doesn't just go "oh you booted a game, I'll load this profile" but it goes "oh i see you have a game as your focused window, i'll load this profile"

it may be more prudent to perhaps just set up some profiles you like, and use the profile switch hotkey combo (the SS key + F9) to swap as needed

I don't know why, but sometimes randomly when I turn my headset on, the sound on my computer mutes itself. The headset is set to the default so I'm not sure why, and it's inconsistent. But at the very least I'm glad it's working now!

Odd question but if you hold the power button down for a long time does it ever turn off? I haven't received confirmation from someone who does have a nova pro wireless headset yet, but there's probably a little pin hole like in this image {screenshot}. It'll be in a different place probably, but if you put a pin in it and feel a click, hold it down for around idk, 5 seconds I don't remember if it's immediate or not so 5 seconds should be good and it should factory reset the headset. if it does not clearly have a hole like in the screenshot, I would steer clear of sticking any pins in any unknown places and just contact steelseries officially through this link, https://support.steelseries.com/

It is, I'd imagine, steelseries' most commonly requested feature, and I would definitely imagine it's possible one way or another to implement into the keyboard after the fact through a firmware update. So with this, I'd really hope by the end of this year, or at least summer of 2023, they would implement it into the keyboard. But as of right now I haven't heard any staff member talking about it being a definite thing that will happen. (I also wouldn't ping a staff member either as that would be against the rules) All we can do is hope

my mouse was working fine i was playing a game, and then i left it briefly and when i came back, it was not connecting wirelessly anymore

it only connects when plugged in

i updated the software, i went into settings and tried to manually sync it with the dongle, however it keeps saying connection failed.

@gilded garnetif you have a msi board you need to do this do not install nahimics from install they give you on usb !!!!!! goto msi website download the nahimics from there install from that file after first uninstalling it completely then once you have installed that part you goto microsoft store and install that part then it should work if not restart from scratch making sure you have realtek sound selected once you find the right install sequence you will have nomore problems sometimes it's just about how you install as to whether it works properly computer 101

Apex Pro Mini Wireless refuses to connect to my dongle. Hardwire connection works, but I sit far away from my setup so I can’t rely on that working. Any way to pair/re-pair the dongle and/or perform a factory reset? All manuals and online tutorials say to use the OLED display to reset the device but this model doesn’t have one. Any help is appreciated.

Nova 7 Wireless having 2.4ghz connection issues while sitting at my desk. The dongle is plugged directly into the back of my computer which sits about 2 feet away from me. I can easily replicate the issue by going far away enough from the dongle which is telling me it's the connection.

@frank mountainyep this is one i have done for sometime because you cannot rely on microsoft windows to get it right when other programs interact with it no matter how good their coding is so i use aomei backupper and take backups so i can if need be rollback :ie restore and then reinstall everything including if the windows has updated and screwed everything up

Transparency uses the ANC mics to let outside audio into the headset. It's mainly used for being able to quickly listen to something in the room or talk to someone without having to remove the headphones

so does it use the mic sidetone for that or it just lets outside noise in through the mic separate from the sidetone function? or are you saying there are seperate mics in the headset that are installed for ANC ?

Well yeah, that's how Active Noise Cancellation works. Tiny microphones are placed around the outside of the headset earcup (and one inside each earcup for the NPW). The outside mics listen to the ambient noise in the room and the mics in the earcups listen to the volume of audio playing through the headphones and then feed a frequency of audio to "cancel out" the ambient noise from being heard through the headphones.

When you turn on Transparency, the mics normally used to cancel out the noise feed that noise into the headset allowing you to hear the sounds in the room. Sidetone is only used for monitoring your voice through the retractable boom mic which is a separate thing entirely from the ANC system.

Basically, if you want to hear what someone is saying to you in your room or just hear the ambient noise in the room, use transparency. If you want to monitor the level of your own voice when you're in a Discord call or using comms in a game, use sidetone

It is connected to my PS4 Pro and whenever I turn it on, I can hear white noise, even when no audio is passed through by the ps4. I double checked with the tutorial video and the paperwork and it looks all good. It will be quite distracting in quite moments in a game so is there any fix for it?

I've reinstalled the steelseries software like 10x now, deleting all dirs like program files/steelseries , appdata/steelseries etc.

driver loads successfully.

The LEDs are working because when i press Fn Key, i see the RED LEDs lighting up on the function keys and arrow keys.

The lights dissapeared i believe like 3 days ago. I run windows 11.

When I press FN+F1 nothing happens after this key combination.

OK i found it!

the root cause of the issue was the BRIGHTNESS LEVEL of the keyboard. Why on earth is this setting NOT VISIBLE on the user interface of the keyboard settings? I had to figure it out using various youtube videos and found it this way.

It would really help, if the software would SHOW the brightness level and if black, give a comment that the keyboard illumination is switched off and not like on the UI showing a full brighted keyboard!

Today I'm getting the critical firmware update warning banner under my device, I follow the steps as mentioned but the update never initiates. so its really glitchy i deleted the headset from my device manager but it still does not work after installing it again.

Hi anyone has the same issue? I have arctis pro + gamedac and after a pc restart or when I turn it on next day I have no audio, and only when I replug usb it comes back, sometimes even that doesn't help I have audio in youtube for eg but then in game the audio feels like it's split, I can hear music for eg just fine but character dialogues are non existent, whispering like they are 100m away, it's beyond annoying to keep reconnecting usb over and over again, is it too much to ask for a working hardware these days, it's 2023 almost, you pay hundreds of euros and it's still bugged for years now, IS THERE A FIX?
