Honestly I learned something that surprised me. They all have such different design philosophies, features, sound characteristics, and platform compatibility that there isn't one "Goldilocks" headset.

I can say that if you let me know what platforms you play on, if you stream at all, and what your price range is I can usually make a couple good suggestions

I think the Stealth 700 Gen 2 is an amazing value at $150, but that's only if you don't have bugs. Lots of people have had mic issues (especially on next gen) but it's more of a firmware issue than anything else. I still love them.

Entry level Steel Series look nice, have decent comfort, but the sound quality is lacking compared to competitors. The higher end stuff is better. More of a flat sound, sometimes lacking in upper frequency details.

HE4XX is an odd cross of the Hifiman Deva and the HE400i v2020. It's almost identical to HE400i v2020, but uses a part from the Deva.

The mid range/vocals, and sound stage is incredible at that price point. Build quality is up for debate but I haven't had any problems with me Devas. They sound excellent.

If you like more of a V shape with booming bass and bright highs, they aren't the best.

But for acoustics, vocals, they are very difficult to beat at that price point

It's powered by an Arduino Nano, using WS2812B "neopixel" leds. It's plugged into the computer with USB.

I've looked and the only way to sync it is through GameSense, which I don't use, and the method is jenky and outdated. I don't need another random background program running just for this anyways, so I think I'll leave it as is and just match the colors as best as possible in a fixed program.
