Obviously mp4 is a compressed format, so while lossless may not be possible, what I really am asking for is significantly higher quality in general, with no noticeable jagged edges or blurry textures. I really think the user should have a bit more power to customize how they would like their recordings to turn out. I get that small file sizes are a priority, as they are easy to store and share. However I think there should be an option for those who don't care too much about how big the files are. I currently have everything maxed out in the user settings of Moments, and I still find the video quality blurry and disappointing.

I think there should be an option for those who have more storage capacity on their computer, and for those who dont expect to be able to share their 8MB file through discord. My personal preference when recording videos is that 1 minute of gameplay = 1GB of storage. It gives me a clear image of everything I am recording, and it lets me easily zoom into something in the background and still have it be clear if I choose to edit it.

I don't mean to come off as if I am just complaining for the sake of complaining. Typically if I am not happy with an app, i just uninstall and move on. However with this app, I really like how it is put together, I like having a quick and easy tool to view and trim my videos, I like how user friendly it is, I like that it is integrated with all my steelseries stuff, etc. The only thing killing this app entirely for me is the poor video quality. The app in itself is super good at everything except for video quality, and I think it's such a shame. A one minute clip using this app with 60 fps and ultra settings is like, 100MB tops, some of my clips have been down in the 60MB range. This is of course good for sharing through discord, or quickly uploading somewhere for those with poor internet connections, but it pretty much unusable to me

Note for the devs. Streamed for about 5 hours yesterday with both OBS and moments running. Ran into zero issues that I could tell. Did turn moments off late into the stream just to save on CPU usage but otherwise, it was just fine. Well done on that fix!

I was going to say this a few weeks ago. I love moments, especially the fact that it has always on recording enabled.

But I don't believe this was really in the description of moments. This took me around two or more weeks to actually figure out this functionality for itself. Prior to that I only thought it was recording from the moment you request it to record.

I will add this to the feature request channel but I believe a short optional tutorial when you launch the app for the first time would really help moment users to understand how the app works and that it is always on recording and maybe even a way to review this tutorial or have quick start guides to refer back to for people who return and would like a refresher with the app.

Anyone else having issues with clips not being saved, even though moments is saying that it is capturing?

Moments even make the blip sound as if it just captured a clip, but no clip is saved anywhere. This seems to happen at random, I have no idea why. I have 600GB free space on the drive I am saving videos to, so space is not a problem

go into ur task manager and on the SS moments click "end task" sometimes its taking a butt ton of resources but not clipping anything. after u end the task, do a test capture and it should be working again...

the update checks happen in two cases: when you go AFK and your monitor turns off, and when the app is started, but it only checks once a day max, so

@gaunt haven there's only a single track that is recorded in Moments right now. I'm not sure if there are plans to add multiple tracks to be recorded, but you do get to choose what audio sources will be picked up.

A workaround would be to try using a program like Voicemeeter Banana and designating your game audio to run through a source that you can hear, and Moments can detect.

Just a warning that it can be complicated. Unfortunately I cannot walk you through the steps, but with some research it should take care of what you're looking for!

If so....you could route your music app to your chat endpoint via the windows setting:

Something a little simpler than VoiceMeeter (but made by same people) would be VB-Audio's "Virtual Audio Cable"

Then just route Spotify or whatever to that, and it should stay out of your Desktop audio. I think...

Ok the GG sound engine is even better than SS Engine. Notice a huge difference in quality on the Arctis 7. It's almost like the speakers are being driven by an amplifier. That big of a difference

I've been using Radeon ReLive for my replays until this point, what seems good about moments is that you can edit clips on the fly

that was a really big issue for me with ReLive as i've now got around 5GB of clips

and most of that is waste

GG seems to never work properly on my computer anymore

I can't even get it to start with my computer anymore, despite everything being turned on.

Figured I'd ask if anybody else had similar problems, since I don't understand why it take such an extremely long time for it to open

Ah, so after looking into the issue, I found out why it takes over 5 minutes to open (or sometimes never opens at all)

the service is unable to launch. It constantly fails and reboots behind the scenes, no idea why but

#

can't report this as a bug either, since I have absolutely no way of telling anybody how to reproduce it. But if anybody knows anything, let me know what to do.

yo, click settings and scroll down and click "game detection" You will see a button to add games/ force a rescan

This should allow capture but if it doesn't - change Minecraft's capture to "screen" as shown in the screenshot ****

It wasn't there last night. It's there now after I restarted my PC but just killing the app and restarting it didn't work, which is strange

Currently, we're working towards expanding the capturable resolutions, but we haven't implemented anything above 1440p. So, with a larger resolution, the capture will hit the 1440p ceiling.

I'm thinking that it's getting 2650 to get "1440p" but then downscaling to match that. If it could read the vertical resolution rather than horizontal I assume it would work.

Gotcha. I'll pass that along to the dev working on it. We're working on a few bugs we've found when trying to capture above 2560x1440, and once we get those resolved, it should open a path to larger formats
