Anyone else come across this "bug"? Started a few patches ago. Moments is no-longer exclusively recording just the game, and I cannot figure out why. It is recording the entire screen, which is very annoying.

It means that anything dragged across the main screan is recorded by Moments.

I haven't tried it myself yet but it's mentioned in a recent patch note that the new version can be tried in the beta version of GG.

I've experienced this a few times.

I noticed the clips vanished sometimes when I opened or hovered over a new clip from a few seconds ago.

I recovered a few by recapturing immediately if it was still within the time frame.

To prevent the clips from disappearing, I have waited extra long even if it looked like it finished loading. Waiting 10 seconds after I could see the clip cover was sometimes fine, sometimes not. I guess waiting the clip length would probably be safest.

I guess the clips disappeared because it didn't finish writing the file or something, and when it was opened too early it got corrupted...

I'd say no for the current Moments editor.

I noticed the editor only had the option to add text to clips, and it looked like adding GIFs were possible in older versions, but not recently.

Would need to export the clips and add it using a different software.

Or for the next clips, if music is played in the background.

Oh a workaround is:

1. Find an app that can play and stop music with a shortcut or ask an AI to script a basic one with PowerShell and how to use it, the shortcut must work even in full screen of an app like Moments.

2. Set the Moments recorder DURATION longer than the clip length, and maybe turn off cursor capture in Settings > Capture and Sound > Capture my in-game cursor.

3. Turn on DESKTOP CAPTURE (Default: alt + P)

4. Open the Moments clip editor.

5. Press f or the "Full screen (f)" button.

6. In the timeline, click the beginning of the clip or drag to the beginning of the clip.

7. Move the mouse cursor away from the bottom video menu, and leave the mouse idle so the video menu hides.

8. Press Space to play the clip without bringing back the video menu, and immediately press the shortcut for the music to start playing.

9. At the end of the clip, press the shortcut to save the clip/desktop capture (Default: alt + S)

10. Trim the clip of the clip to match the clip but that clip of the clip has the music that the clip didn't have so the clip of the clip doesn't actually match the clip other than the video of the clip so the clip of the clip does match with the clip but also the clip of the clip doesn't match with the clip or maybe the clip of the clip doesn't match the video of the clip either because clipping a clip is probably clipping a bitrate that doesn't match the original so the clip of the clip doesn't actually match with the clip in any way. Trim the new clip/desktop capture.

If that workaround is too much, should probably post the music feature request in #1070392859125104660

It wouldn't restore the audio from those already recorded clips if it didn't have the correct audio device set up since it wasn't recording the audio in the first place in that state, but if it also didn't work for the new clips even with correct audio devices set up,
another place I could think of is the volume level in the clip editor is not 0% or too low:

I remember Two that their Moments wasn't clipping anything at all even with the DESKTOP CAPTURE mode...

The cause seemed to be not enough specs, seemed like They had older graphics cards and less RAM like 8 GB or lower.

Another guess,
the game wasn't detected if it's showing "WAITING FOR GAME CAPTURE"
and might need to be manually add it and exit/restart (different from just closing the app) SteelSeries

I selected multiple clips to see if I would find the option but I didn't,
I noticed 3 options:

• Delete
• Tag as Starred
• Open file location

The closest to a multi export that I see is if You were saving trimmed clips

and deleting the original (saves space), and then "Open file location" and multi select them in that window, but trimmed clips are like already exported clips or very similar, so could just copy those selected clips

If You want the multi export feature, probably should make a post in #1070392859125104660 to let SteelSeries know

Yes, looks like it has been quite common.

Though after I installed the 70.0.0 version, 18 clips had the audio in sync, so older versions might be a solution for now while They are trying to fix it

Only if the cause is the recent updates, but I'm not sure what the cause is.
There is possibility game updates or OS (Windows) updates or hardware cause it depending on how the app is coded.

Without uninstalling the latest version, just straight installing over the already downloaded SteelSeries app it kept my settings when I tried installing 78.0.0, 79.1.0, 70.0.0 though I'm not sure up to how many versions it keeps the settings. If I uninstalled SteelSeries, I had to change the settings back to how it was, so it's much easier just installing over it.

There was a time when I asked an AI about computers, and I roughly understood it as:

• the base computer code is in binary (a combination of 1 or 0)
• different hardware have different binary combinations
• the hardware makers make like "Drivers" that translate those binary codes to the "HAL"
• the "HAL" is like another translator that translates the English looking coding languages.

(if the AI was telling facts and if I understood, might of missed stuff too)

But the point is, if all hardware have a different combination of 1 and 0 where a single digit could completely change the code or cause an error, it could make sense that Some have it buggier than Others even with the same app, the Drivers and hardware are probably different, and not all Companies coded it the same, lots of translation to almost make it look the same I guess

ROBLOX

    1. Open a ROBLOX game.


Task Manager

    2. Open the "Task Manager" app.

    3. Right click "Roblox Game Client"

    4. Click "Open file location" (File Explorer would open)


File Explorer

    5. Right click the highlighted "RobloxPlayerBeta.exe"

    6. Click "Copy as path"


SteelSeries GG

    7. Open the "SteelSeries GG" app.

    8. Click "Settings" (Near bottom left corner)

    9. Scroll to the bottom from the left side.

    10. Click "Game Detection"

    11. Click "Add game"

    12. Paste the path, and click "Open".

    13. Completely close "SteelSeries GG", including in the tray, (just pressing "X" in the app would not completely close it), and maybe close ROBLOX too. Or just restart the computer.

    14. Open "SteelSeries GG".

    15. Play ROBLOX and clip.

I tested this, and I've seen

Note: I noticed ROBLOX changes the app location after ROBLOX updates to a different version folder, so might need to repeat all of this after every ROBLOX update.

but Minecraft might need to be expanded to show the file location

Otherwise I guess would need to try DESKTOP CAPTURE mode in the app, which captures anything on the screen,

if that doesn't work hardware (the physical parts of the computer) is suspicious, might not be enough specs like older graphics cards or lower RAM.

If it's not specs, a low possibility is maybe try running the SteelSeries app with Administrator permissions which might make it's shortcuts work if the key shortcuts were blocked by permissions.

Also in chat I noticed some games or platforms didn't get detected by SteelSeries even after probably trying those steps

actually that step that you sent me did fix it, the thing I was missing was I just needed to restart my PC after adding the Minecraft instance to moments. so thank you! only problem now is just a Minecraft problem, nothing will capture it if the game is in full screen mode. It has to be in windowed mode :/ I still haven't figured out what's causing that tbh, but I can live with this. Thank you

I think They tried installing an older version of SteelSeries later but still wasn't capturing, so the cause was probably a game update or maybe a Windows or Driver update.

I guess would need to wait for Moments to catch up if the recent 81.0 update (#gg-updates message) didn't fix it even if They didn't mention it

Or maybe setting longer clip durations as backup and just quickly manually pressing the clip button when out of combat, and trimming later.

Is anyone successfully using Voicemeeter and capturing audio with Moments? Audio capture worked fine until I set up Voicemeeter, now Moments doesn't capture game sound from the Voicemeeter Input device. It records my microphone just fine through the Voicemeeter Out device. I think it's a bug that I encountered a few times,

to avoid it give the clips extra time to load even if the cover shows up. Also I wouldn't hover over the, I think I remember a one or a few got deleted that way too.

The wait time I guess the clip duration to be safe, but maybe could wait less.

I don't think the clips are recoverable unless reclip within the time frame.

A solution for now might be trying older version of SteelSeries GG. I tried the 70.0.0 version and all 18 clips were in sync. I encountered audio/video delays more in the newer versions.

Reason why I am curious is because when I take a clip, I get the audacious ping in the game input.

This will be hard to figure out because whatever shows up there is usualy actively sending audio but you can't play a moment while in the sonar tab

reinstalling doesn't delete clips, but if you set a different folder for your clips besides the default one, moments won't be able to find the clips until you set the video folder back to whatever it was before

Good to know I'm not the only one with GG just not clipping unless it's an open app on one of my monitors, and/or minimized (not to tray).

For those of you having the same problem as me, I temporarily fixed my issue, but fair warning, we all got different rigs and it may not fix for you:

I left my GG open and on a monitor I wasn't using. Alternatively, you can try open but minimized instead of "X'ed out". I don't have the best software terminology, so I hope this helps.

Theres a lot of issues with moments so this probably wont fix yours, but if you have trouble saving/editing clips and the software is just wack in general try intstalling a new version of ffmpeg.exe

it wont let me post the link but you can just look it up online and find the ffmpeg.exe after extracting then replace the one in your steelseries folder with the new one

Because what would happen is it would open multiple instances of ffmpeg.exe and it would lag/corrupt my clips then i'd have to relaunch really frequently but now I can edit more than 2 clips without this happening

i think if you go into the GG settings and turn on "beta" then restart GG, you might get access to the new capture beta that I think handles windowed mode a bit better

In settings > moments > capture and sound, try and set this to Capture Engine 2.4. It seems that 2.5 sometimes has that issue, and it does not seem that it will be fixed any time soon for how long it has been an issue for.

i recently started playing SOT (sea of thieves) with some friends
I've never had an issue with clips before however for some reason SteelSeries doesn't record SOT
I've checked the game detection tab to make sure SOT is there
I changed my windows game settings
made sure that the game and GG are on the same drive
however for whatever reason it still wont register the game as open
I've noticed a similar problem with Minecraft java edition but not bedrock

if anyone's had a similar issue and found a way to fix it please let me know
my current theory is just compatibility with Microsoft games (Sot and Minecraft were purchased from the Microsoft store)

Hi guys! I have a question: where is the audio from separate audio tracks for my clips stored? I know the "SteelseriesMoments" folder, but all I see there is clips with the game audio. The Chat and Mic audio is not there when I play those clips, yet when I look at all the clips in my Steelseries Moments app gallery - everything is just fine there. So where are all the separate audio tracks stored then?

I believe it’s stored in the video with multiple audio tracks

You’re probably viewing the file with a player that only plays track 1+2

You can choose a different audio track if you use VLC

this has definitely already been asked im sure but is there a way to back up my moments? im probably gonna get a new pc but i have so many clips on here that i dont want to lose and i also dont want to just save the vids because i like being able to view them on moments itself. is there a way to keep them all?

it should already be recording the mic alongside the gameplay. i'd go into the settings and make sure the right mic output is selected for recording.

Im having issues with moments not clipping at all, I have done a full uninstall and reinstall and still not working, trying to clip within warzone, its not even doing reaction clips and I have that set to hight

Hey Guys, i got a problem with Moments in. The Capture for CoD Warzone and Blackops 6 is not working for me. I used the games out of the Gamepass for PC. HDR is off.

The capture with key is working fine, at least only auto. Moments is not finding the game running.

Is there a way to make desktop capture start automatically when turning on my pc? I tried to use nvidia shadowplay for this feature but it can’t record game and chat audio channels.

shadowplay can do that if you use sonars streamer mode

or in windows audio mixer you select the headest itself instead of the sonar devices for it

i picked up COD BO6 on the weekend sale on Steam. for $40
uninstalled MS store version, Installed Steam Version.
didnt touch SteelSeries

My game is now auto detected, and it auto clips my kills in Warzone.

This is 100% an issues with windows 11 and the MS version of the games. im willing to bet its a permission issues on the files, Micorsoft does weird stuff with their store files.

when i trying taking ownership of all the files in the folder, my game started crashing so IDK

was annoying and im impatient to wait for a fix, so for a easy $28 hyou can fix this issue by going to steam.
