UPDATE i managed to fix mine by going through thr nvidia geoforce app and going through the games vertical sync options

even though it wasnt on the fast option on the control panel it was still on fast here

I figured out more things going wrong with my moments still don't have a solution. But I noticed when I'm loading into a game my keyboard's lights will shut off then turn back on and then the moment says I can't find it any game to capture even though I'm in the middle of a game match and then halfway through it. It will say it found the game but then I still can't make any clips and then once I get out of match and I'm in main lobby it detects the game and it's letting me make clips at the main menu. Try going into Steelseries GG -> Settings and under Moments, use the option to run a new scan.

If that doesn’t detect your games, it might have to do with them being installed on a different drive than GG.

You can also manually add games to Moments by selecting them within the filepath they are installed in.

I had the same problem when using Capture Engine 2.5. After changing to Capture Engine 2.4 the problem disappeared. Note that with each new update of the GG application the version automatically changes to 2.5

So I was watching some HDR content a bit ago, but now even though ALL hdr settings are off on ALL monitors, moments clips are extremely darkened and unusable. I have fully reinstalled the app and deleted all caches I could find and it still persists. I am not going to reinstall windows to attempt to fix this, but are there any settings I am missing anywhere? I even double checked my NVIDIA settings and HDR is off within the global settings there as well. Like it is not a game issue, or a display issue, because the display looks normal and when I do desktop capture it still has the issue.

I fixed the issue, for others that have this have them check the color profiles of their display, windows seems to enable Automatically manage color for apps if you enable HDR, and it stays on even after HDR is disabled

Disabling that setting makes the clips look normal instead of darkened

You need sonar for that, make discord output steelseries sonar chat and make your game steelseries sonar game, that should give you the option to mute discord while having your game audio work fine when editing a clip

Why do clips sometimes disappear after capture? It said it was captured, I'm even watching it, and then just disappears... I had to press alt + S in time again to recapture it, but lost a few seconds since I didn't expect it.

After the update, Moments started recording without audio, but in the settings I switched back the "AUDIO DEVICE" to "Default playback device from Windows".

Also the sound has been in sync so far even in the highest recording settings, I guess that was fixed.

I think my clips disappearing is something different. It's only for the most recent one, and as I watched the freshly captured clip it randomly disappears. Didn't happen often, and I think it only happened if I watch the clip soon after capturing it, but if I leave it alone long enough it won't disappear.

About disappearance of all clips, I noticed Moments can save clips from different locations at the same time. If the folder path was changed in settings, it didn't move the clips to the new folder path, but it remembered where the old videos are so it shows up in the library. Uninstalling steelseries seems to wipe that memory of the old location. To recover all videos, would need to look through file explorer and move them manually to the current Moments save path, and then Moments should start detecting the moved videos.

For this error, if it helps debugging, it happened after I saved a trim, then almost immediately I renamed the trimmed video, and that's when I encountered that error. Also, a different trimmed video might have been saving while this happened since a lot of the times I tried to edit the next one instead of waiting for the current trim to save.

Update: I trimmed another clip and again really quickly I clicked it to watch it but that error happened. The trigger seems if watching too early before waiting long enough. One fix I could think of is not allow the User to click it until it fully loads or something. Oh also within Moments I think I changed the title to "22" to mark the video order since I noticed trimming takes it to the top instead of keeping it in the same order as original... The title must have been changed just before I watched it.

Yes I think I encountered that a few times. To avoid it I just have been recording clips without looking at them, and then when I was done playing (gave the clips lots of time to load or whatever), I trimmed them later.
My guess is that a data corruption occured from opening it too early before it fully finished writing the full file details.

I noticed it happened a lot for highest quality clips, but there was once an update that somehow fixed that, and the audio was back to matching the video. Though that update got reverted or something because I guess it was causing other bugs that I saw screenshots of on Discord. Though I'm not sure if it was an update since I saw the same version (not sure how to get it back), but I did notice steelseries had extra audio interfaces at some point (so it looked like an update), and then after a long gameplay those new interfaces just disappeared... After the disappearance the audio was desyncing again... I don't think I changed any of the settings, the update was like a ghost.

Could try attempting downloading different versions of steelseries GG and rename the "C:\Program Files\SteelSeries\GG\version.json" file to something like "ver.json" or something else that is not "version" to prevent GG from automatically updating. Note that if You rename the version file, there would be errors when attempting to manually update the app within the app. To update within the app again, would need to rename the file to it's original name, and reopen steelseries GG, maybe even make sure it was fully closed including the tray.

Also during the versions when I was encountering audio desync, I think lower recording settings kept it more insync. High recording settings have been using a lot of RAM, and I guess if it doesn't have enough, it might desync.

Very recently I went to SETTINGS > Capture and Sound > AUDIO DEVICE and changed it from "Default playback device from Windows" to the sound output device I'm using. I recorded 1 video from the same game, and it looks back in sync. Before I remember it was the opposite, and sound didn't even record from that sound output, weird. Well found out that switching output devices for that setting might fix the sync.

One time I turned off "Gameplay capture", then back on, and the audio was syncing again.

I set a shortcut in SteelSeries GG > Settings > Shortcuts > Turn Moments on/off since I might need turn it ON/OFF if I leave "WAITING FOR GAME TO CAPTURE" or "CAPTURING" running too long without a refresh.

Also I've noticed, it stays in sync more in lower recording settings. Might need higher specs or more RAM for consistent highest quality recordings, or maybe the app's coding is not efficient enough and it's not from your side.

How much RAM does your computer have?
Can be found in Windows Settings > System > About > Installed RAM
If it's 8 GB, it's probably not enough. 16 GB could be ok, but I think it's not enough for what I do.

My guess is after an update They might of changed the code, and maybe more RAM is needed for it to run smoothly.
Another possibility, your computer might be using more resources than before, maybe there are more apps open, or maybe there is a new app that You weren't using before. Maybe an app update had the code updated which might also use more resources.

Another thing You could try is looking for an older SteelSeries GG installer, and maybe one of those versions has better syncing code, but need to make sure it doesn't update, and to do that this message has more info on that: #moments message

What recording quality settings do You have it on?

I've been using 01:00 | Ultra | 1080p | 60fps and it's been fine so far, but when I used 05:00 | Ultra | 1080p | 60fps or even 03:00 there were times I noticed the sound didn't match with the video.

You didn't get the ⚠️ The current clip setting may use over 20% of you RAM, adjust clip settings to reduce impact. warning right? I'm guessing that warning means that it might be using too much. I vaguely remember something about that if the computer is using around maybe 70% or 80% RAM, it starts "paging", using the computer's storage which would start slowing the system down since it's not as fast as RAM. Apps like Task Manager and Xbox Game Bar could show how much RAM is being used, and I noticed even if I turn on Moments, the RAM % didn't really change much, so I'm not sure where the usage is or if it's already "paging".

Maybe some recording quality settings are buggy, not sure...

On Google Chrome I searched up "steelseries GG installer previous versions", and the second website "Uptodown" apparently has a list of older SteelSeries GG versions. There are probably other websites that have similar options too.

If You want a potential fix now, I guess try the previous versions, but after the install, I think You would need to rename the C:\Program Files\SteelSeries\GG\version.json file to something like ver.json or something else that is not "version" to prevent GG from automatically updating back to 79.1.0. Might need to uninstall SteelSeries GG first.

Notes just in case if You didn't know:

• Uninstalling steelseries GG, I remember would reset all settings to default, like shortcuts, custom save clip file locations, recording settings, etc. Clips should still be in the file location they are at, probably take note if aren't sure where and if it's not the default path.
• Renaming the version.json would not let updating the app within the app using the "Check for updates" button unless if it's renamed back to it's original file and SteelSeries GG is fully restarted.

If don't want to try previous versions, I guess We got to wait for new updates for potential fixes.

My backup replay recording options are:

1. NVDIA (but I've been using it to record full gameplay at a lower quality, and I think only works with NVIDIA graphic cards)
2. Xbox Game Bar (but I remember once it recorded way behind and I missed a clip, and some of the interfaces don't automatically close)
3. OBS (but replay buffer needs to be set up in settings and I noticed the record shortcuts didn't work with every app)

Though those option didn't have the trimming, would need to use a different software to do the cuts which takes longer than Moments. I have the free app Shotcut as backup for editing.

I haven't been using the auto clipping feature much, so not sure about that. I just changed my "Save new clip" shortcut to something that doesn't interfere with the game, and if I want that recorded, I just press the shortcut to save it. Also I turned off the "Clip captured" interface popup, so it doesn't show up in the video if there is a highlight just after.

from watching this chat for a while, a few things i've seen cause capture to not work/desktop capture to close immediately is:

• your PC doesn't have the hardware to record. (Moments requires a graphics card with video encoding/decoding hardware, which can sometimes be missing on cheaper low-end graphic cards like a 1030)
• you have some video site open on your PC like netflix, disney+, etc. these sites tell windows to not allow recording, and moments will also do the same

Well it depends what You're doing, when I set the recording settings to 05:00 | Ultra | 1080p | 60fps I get the ⚠️ The current clip setting may use over 20% of you RAM, adjust clip settings to reduce impact. warning... And since my RAM usage is already high while Moments is closed, it would probably be "paging" (using the storage which is not as fast as RAM)

Oh audio still got offset even with 01:00 | Ultra | 1080p | 60fps, happened after I opened a newly captured clip almost immediately, and the clip disappeared, so I pressed the capture clip shortcut again, but that one wasn't in sync.

In Settings > Capture and Sound > CHAT DEVICE I tried setting it to Speakers (Steam Streaming Speakers) instead of None and so far 2 clips in sync at 03:00 | Ultra | 1080p | 60fps, so setting a chat device might be a fix for the unmatching audio with the video. #moments message

Hello everyone !! I recently experienced an big issue with Steelseries Moments. Whenever i tried to clip any game (mostly Valorant), there is a 4-5 seconds delay between the audio and the video... It's really annoying and I now have to edit the clips on another software to post them. Any idea on how to fix this ?

Actually I again opened a clip too early (waiting 5 seconds after appearing was not enough), and the clip disappeared. Also it didn't let Me get the clip back because it somehow reset the replay buffer... But at least I have a lower quality recording of it somewhere since I recorded with NVIDIA.

A few of Us got it or similar, and I played around with the settings, but still sometimes got the audio delay.

One idea to potentially fix this is by uninstalling (Actually uninstalling is not required since I tested and the installer overwrote the version without losing settings) and reinstalling to an older version. Here is a message with more info and notes about that: #moments message

If You don't want to download from those websites, I have SteelSeriesGG70.0.0Setup.exe and SteelSeriesGG78.0.0Setup.exe that I could share through Google Drive.

After this many audio delay encounters, I think I'm at the point that I would try the 78.0.0

If You don't want download the previous versions, probably got to wait for the newer versions which hopefully have the fix.
If You opt-in for BETA, You might get earlier access to newer versions. To request BETA access, I've seen the option in SteelSeries GG > Settings > General > BETA OPT-IN

Nope, the videos would still be kept in a different file location.

I remember the default location was C:\Users\❓\Videos\SteelSeries Moments
❓ = (Computer Account Name)

If You left it at the default location and didn't change where the videos are saved, just leave it to the app.

If You have GG installed and then use the installer to overwrite it or change it's version, just leave it to the app, at least for recent versions (not sure what happens if a really old version is installed). When I installed 78.0.0 over 78.1.0, my settings where still saved.

But if GG is uninstalled, I remember the settings were lost, and I had to re-enter my custom save path, but the videos were also still there after putting the correct file path.

That's different than a screen recording, I remember Moments lets screen recording even the app itself, it's how I recorded this (using the Moments "START DESKTOP CAPTURE" mode): #moments message

If You find the video from file explorer and play it with like Windows Media Player is it normal? (Clicking the underlined path in SteelSeries GG > Settings > Clip Settings > Storage location would show You where your videos are saved)

My versions I got from the official SteelSeries download page when they were the latest version, I didn't delete the installer when I installed those versions

For the websites I just searched up on Google Chrome "steelseries GG installer previous versions" and it looks like the second website "Uptodown" has many versions

• After installing, You would need to rename the C:\Program Files\SteelSeries\GG\version.json file to something like versioff.json or something else that is not "version" if You don't want GG to a bit later automatically update back to 79.1.0.

• Renaming the version.json would not let updating the app within the app using the "Check for updates" button unless if it's renamed back to it's original file and SteelSeries GG is fully exited or restarted.

BIOS/UEFI, GPU Drivers, Firmware (For other components like SSDs, motherboards, etc.)? They might have apps, or You may need to search up your computer's parts on how to update them if they are updatable?

Hey guys, looking for some help here.

1. Is it possible to import videos into Moments to make use of its editing/sharing suite? It's quite neat and fast.

2. I tried giving the recording part of Moments a shot, though it tanks FPS even on lowest setting and frametime is all over the place.
   For comparison I normally make use of Nvidia's Shadowplay and while testing I could rock a steady 115 fps with an almost flat frametime. When hitting record on Moments it behaves for the first couple of second, then goes down to 103 to 108 FPS depending on the Quality. But the frametime/pacing is all over the place. (The testing scenario was on GPU bound). Wonder if I'm missing some hidden checkmark or smth

1. I think it is, but it's not simple...
   I tried once, but it didn't detect a video not recorded from Moments probably because it's missing the meta data that Moments adds to the recordings.
   I opened a Moments recording with a text editor, and I saw the meta data was near the end.
   I think if that meta data is copied and adjusted to not have certain identical properties like time recorded, it could be added to the end of a .mp4 file so Moments detects it. Though I haven't actually tested because too many steps...
   If the meta data is shown to an AI, it might be able to generate a script for more efficient conversions...
   Otherwise maybe request this feature in #1070392859125104660

2. I'm guessing the coding from Moments is not as efficient as NVIDIA, since NVDIA must know their own graphics card a lot more and how to optimize it, and NVIDIA probably didn't open source their code... Moments probably did what They could with the methods available to Them or that They could think of.

Hovering over a clip, would show a circle near the top left corner of that clip.
Clicking the circle would select that clip, and make more options appear above.
"Select All ()" + the red bin (to the right), and probably a confirmation would delete all of the clips. I don't think deleting clips that way go to the recycling bin, so maybe be careful if there is an important clip.

I haven't noticed options in Moments to set resolutions in settings or crop the video resolution.
Might need to use a video editor to crop out the black bars. A free video editor I used was Shotcut but might not be that simple from what I remember, might need to watch a video. There are probably simpler video editors.

I noticed when I moved C:\Program Files\SteelSeries out of it's default location, and corrected the app shortcut (to open it), the key shortcuts in the app didn't work in a game I was playing, but if I exited SteelSeries GG and then ran the app as administrator, the key shortcuts were functioning.

So running SteelSeries as administrator (right clicking the app shortcut would show the option), might fix it, if the cause is permission related.

Moments 78.0.0 felt like it was in sync with the audio more often than the 79.1.0 version, but I still encountered audio delays there too, and sometimes even video delays where it captured earlier than when I pressed the clip capture shortcut...

Though one positive thing I encountered because these audio delays, was that it made this part of a clip kind of funny with that voice swap resync:

Anyways, since there is the new version 80.0.0, I updated hoping the 79.1.0 delays are fixed, but if I still encounter them I might try 70.0.0 since I still have that installer, and freeze the automatic updates by renaming the C:\Program Files\SteelSeries\GG\version.json file.

The first time manually adding a game, I noticed it didn't detect until I exited (different from close) SteelSeries GG.

If shortcuts don't work for a detected game, try exiting SteelSeries GG and right clicking the shortcut and open it as administrator to give it higher permissions so it might resolve the recording shortcuts not responding because the game's script might be blocking regular permissions in a way.

Otherwise it's probably something else that I'm not sure about, and might need to wait for updates with potential fixes or maybe try installing an older version: #moments message (New note: Installing a version like 78.0.0 and alike over an an installed version (without uninstalling) kept my SteelSeries GG settings)

If You didn't change the Moment's default storage location, the clips would be saved in:
C:\Users\❓\Videos\SteelSeries Moments
❓ = (User)

If You've changed the default location, the current storage location can be checked in SteelSeries GG > Settings > Clip Settings > Storage location

If You changed the default storage location to multiple locations throughout, the videos might still be in the older locations.
In Moments, clicking the three dots near the bottom corner of a clip has the option Open file location which shows where specifically that clip is located.

If You were deleting them from file explorer directly and not pressing the red bin button from the app, would probably need to empty the Windows recycling bin to actually delete files.

Note: I don't think Moments can delete exported clips, since I think they are no longer tied to the app. If You trims clip to save space but still want them to show up in the Moments library, I would use the small "Save Trim" (looks like scissors) button near the bottom left corner of the clip editing screen.

If it's the same, the error was gone after reopening SteelSeries GG. To not repeat the error, I just gave the clips extra time to load even after it looked like it loaded.

If You search videos on how to transfer files via bluetooth or NAS from PC to mobile that could be a way, or maybe if your phone charger has like a USB connection, it might have the option to transfer files.

If You upload the videos to Youtube, Google Drive, or another platform, could watch from mobile using links/internet.

I guess double check the Moments Settings and make sure the new update didn't change a setting to something else, I noticed in the AUDIO section of Capture and Sound sometimes the devices change to something else I didn't set. So I'm not sure if this happened to other settings...

I'm not sure how auto clipping works, but if the game code was updated, maybe Moments is missing it because of that update, or if it detects by screen visuals, maybe the game slightly changed the visuals, or some overlay like the clip recorded goes over it not allowing it to check the pixels of that spot. Turning off the "Clip captured" in Overlays and Notifications or changing the "OVERLAY POSITION" might fix it if that's how it works.

Also the last 2 parts from this message #moments message might be a fix, not sure, but at least some ideas

Version 80.0.0 and the first clip already with audio delay... I think 78.0.0 was more stable in terms of audio delay since at least it captured many in sync clips at first and after refreshing it if it bugged.
I installed 70.0.0 this time, I guess I'll see how this one goes

I still kept the installers from the time 70.0.0, 78.0.0 & 79.1.0 were the current versions from downloading directly from the SteelSeries website.

You might have some or at least one in your Downloads if You didn't delete them. It's name is something like SteelSeriesGG70.0.0Setup.exe but the number is the version.
Actually just recently I found out a better way to get the older installers (directly from SteelSeries), so I went to the SteelSeries GG website, I right clicked the download button to copy the download link and see it, which was: https://steelseries.com/gg/downloads/gg/latest/windows. That's one of the default links to download the latest version, but then I tried replacing "latest" with 77.0.0 like https://steelseries.com/gg/downloads/gg/77.0.0/windows and it actually downloaded SteelSeriesGG77.0.0Setup.exe instead of the latest.

So could just copy

``` and replace `❓` with the version number You would like

So far 70.0.0 didn't have audio delays, but same for 78.0.0 for this amount of time that has passed. Not sure if after a while it would start like in 78.0.0.
Oh but 70.0.0 had a bug where when I clicked `Settings > Overlay and Notifications` the app would get an error...
If You find a version that has been the least buggy (after trying it for a while), letting Us know might help a bunch of Us, especially about the audio delay.

I thought I needed to rename the C:\Program Files\SteelSeries\GG\version.json to prevent automatic updates, but I think if I don't click the notification that says there is a new update, I don't need to rename that file to stay on the older version. Oh actually it automatically updated later I think after SteelSeries GG was reopened, so I remamed it to versioff.json for the pun and so it doesn't auto update... Oh actually it still updated after I restarted the computer, it looks like the renaming method doesn't apply for older versions... #moments message

I'm having a recent problem, wen using moments to create clips. before it worked well, i could read and edit my clips. now it creates this meta files that are unreadable. my only solution is passing this files in to handbrake. but in the prosses i lose time and is a unnecessary step. does anybody have a solution?

If You are talking about freshly captured clips,
I remember if sometimes I opened them a few seconds right after capture they would disappear because I guess they didn't fully finish writing something,
so to get them back, I had to press the capture clip shortcut to recapture it before it was too late.
If it was out of the time frame, I lost them.
I made sure to give new clips extra time to load, so they don't disappear.

If You are talking about clips that have already been in the library for a while,
they might be in a custom location if You set that before reinstalling the app or something.

Otherwise not sure...

If it's not storage (I guess You at least have a bunch of space for clips),
and if You at least tried exiting SteelSeries GG (different from close, from the windows tray not taskbar, or restarted the computer),
but still not clipping, then I guess it's a bug in the version 80.0.0,

so installing a previous version might be more stable. There is more info here: #moments message

Also would need to rename the file version.json found in the folder C:\Program Files\SteelSeries\GG to something else so it doesn't auto update.

If don't want to do that,
might have to wait, or try contacting SteelSeries directly to get that case more attention.

Versions 80.0.0, 79.1.0, 78.0.0 I left because I encountered audio delays at some points...

I tried 70.0.0 next, and so far all 12 clips look like the audio stayed in sync.

Though 70.0.0 has an error if I press the Settings > Overlay and Notifications button, but I haven't been using that anyways, I prefer stable audio.

There might be more stable versions, but from the four that I noticed, I think I prefer 70.0.0

Same here, at least in my case I suspect it's GG not correctly supporting the Xbox Store (Game Pass) version. Though it only affect auto-clips, manual clips still work just fine.

Since the last update my GG will randomly crash when opening a game with a line repeating several times about 'is moments supported' as if it is getting sstuck running that code.
