Kinda sad how far steelseries headset quality has fallen. The fact that it's so bad that every other brand of headset has been suggested and they weren't, in their own discord, that's kinda crazy.

It all went downhill when they changed from having the chatmix as hardware, to having it software based via sonar, as sonar has a lot of bugs, which often makes chatmix not work at all.

I think there's plusses and minuses with both ways of doing it

Doing it in software means the paywall is gone and lets anyone use it no matter the headset

I recommended the arctic 7 to all my friends, and most bought them. But I was embarrassed when one bought the arctic 7 nova, which should game been an improvement, for them to not be able to use chatmix, and even when we managed to get it working, it often stopped working for no reason.

Analog audio devices are headsets/speakers that use the 3.5mm headphone jack as the primary way to connect to the PC or console.

Please note that analog headsets use your on-board audio drivers to run the headset. Due to this, analog headsets are not compatible with SteelSeries Engine and will not show up on the device list in Engine.

If you are having audio issues, here's a few steps to try:

• Reseat all cable connections to verify they are fully plugged in. The 3.5mm connection will require that the cable be plugged in fully for correct audio. Make sure all connections are clean and free of dirt. xmp and expo is just who gets paid for the label

under the hood theyre pretty much the same thing they get tested a bit differently and thats it really

intel boards read expo profiles and amd boards read xmp profiles

you could just change settings to make it run in sync (gear 1) but youd have to stability test it

Hello. I've been building some PCs and I hit a wall with one. So these are all below mid range, for basic gaming. I've done it for 20 years so not a complete noob. Not an expert by any means. I only do it when I get an idea in my head. I sometimes don't build anything for years.

I successfully built the one I got in my room 😄

Second PC is for the living room. I can't get it to boot.

• I updated the bios from the manufacturer. Before I had it all in peaces and swapping around parts.
• I built it in the open on the desk using a case for the power button
• I am using an MSI B550 Gaming plus board, 32GB 3200Mhz ram via 2 x 16 sticks DDR4 vengence, 3060 gpu, Ryzen 5 5600x 6 core, 650w EVGA psu
• Thing wont post and has a steady light on the EZ debug MB lights for the cpu
• I checked the bios I got to make sure it was correct (you need it past a certain version to be compatible with my cpu but it is compatible), it was the beta, so I flashed the one before using the boards feature of flashinng via port and bios rom, correctly renamed MSI.ROM. Board showed flashing red light to show it was installing bios. It was my only option as it won't boot and show anything on screen. Then still continues to show the white steady light on the MB indicating an issue with the cpu. I took out the cooler/cpu, checked pins. Used the razor technique to make sure all lanes were straight. Resit it, slots in fine, no effort. Theraml+cooler, still same issue. I've done Ram testing, removing 1 stick, 1 stick in A2, no boot, tried the other stick of ram on it's own, same, I've checked I've got the relevant PSU cables to CPU/MB/GPU. That they all click in correctly, that the gpu and ram clicks in ok.

I'm out of ideas and tired today, but will try suggestions tomorrow.

gear 1 is when the memory controller runs in sync
gear 2 is when its halved

its usually easy to get lower speeds to run in sync as its less taxing on the system.

out of the box with xmp, anything over 6000 MT/s will default to gear 2 which is half the speed. its why if you plan on only using xmp you only buy 6000 MT/s RAM, though for a lot of people buying faster ram e.g 6400, it is no problem changing a few numbers in BIOS to run faster

AMDs memory oc profile is called EXPO and intels memory oc profile is called XMP
theyre both basically identical outside of labels. they get tested a little differently but the thing seperating them is typically just who gets paid for the label.

Righhttt…but what I’m saying is you shouldn’t be running xmp with amd if your mobo can’t run expo. You’ll run into crashes due to compatibility issues. You could also say that different chip sockets “are basically identical” but when push comes to shove you aren’t gonna install an AM5 chip in an AM3 mobo. But all this to say, you don’t NEED to use and the motherboard doesn’t have to support either for the ram to work. Expo and XMP are both optional configurations. So as long as you’ve double checked that your motherboard and cpu supports the CAS, frequency, and primary timings of the RAM you intend to install, you are good to go. Updated to reflect all pertinent information for clarity.

I get almost 400 fps on fortnite for most of a map run till everyone closes in and the skins bring down the fps. Your processor, mobo, and video card all could improve by a generation or two. The ram is a big "if" because the speed of the ram is a much larger factor than many people realize when they self build. Lots of guys out there have ram on default when they bought better memory and didn't know how to configure for it. My build is scary though so you don't have to go as crazy as mine.

It's always recommended to go 100w over the recommended just to ensure any spikes in power draw doesn't shut the system off so 700-750w is recommended

Yeah I admit. Intel definitely has a lot to do when it comes to terms in polishing.

Yet there are other reasons why I don't want to go with AMD / Nvidia.

1. Nvidia is in terms of "price to performance" the worst.
2. AMD cards aren't great and an alternative to Nvidia. Sure they have good raw performance, yet they are more gamer focused GPUs.
3. I wanted to go with dual GPU since it's beneficial in Workloads if you use it right and the applications support the raster of twu GPUs.
4. I personally preferred Intel Arc somehow

But those cards are typically the best overall in everything

Cuda smashes in rendering and dlss is far superior in gaming for image quality

And well besides a couple hiccups normally have the best driver stability

From personal experience, my only recommendation is if you want to go with a Ryzen 7 go with 9800X3D as people and myself are still dealing with thermals on the 7800X3D.

If you are not keen on tuning systems for performance to thermals I would take an i7-14700k, built a couple systems with it and the efficiency cores just take all the stress away from background tasks and latency.

Running on mostly max settings on tarkov at 1440p with fps locked at 130fps on 144hz display. Running max settings on forza at 4k locked at 120fps on a 144hz display. Gpu power drops along with utilization when it stutters. Turned hags off, rebar off, expo on/off, watched temps thoroughly, tried multiple drivers, ran Latencymon, loaded defaults in bios and tried tuning ram up and down. Im kind of at my wits end.
