where does steelseries land in terms of quality and reliability, on a scale of hyperx to logitech 😂

i've been a logitech user since day 1, built a new PC and decided to give hyperx a chance, and severely regret it. i had to RMA 2/3 products within 30 days, and it's been 5 months since the RMA and i had to go to the local walmart to buy a cheap interim mouse because the hyperx mouse is dead again overnight

worked when i shut my PC down to go to bed, woke up dead

quality and reliability don't seem to be a thing with hyperx keyboards and mice

haven't had an issue with the headset (yet)

logitech hardware is just built different. my old peripherals outlasted my PC which died of RAM failure and it wasn't worth just replacing the ram to keep it alive with its age. so i replaced the ram and sold it to subsidize some of the cost of the new PC

honestly, you'll get different answers to that question from different people. personally, i've had a lot of issues with anything logitech ive purchased & no issues with anything hyperx ive had, all companies have their DOA products that slip through as unfortunate as it is especially when all of them put so much work into their quality assurance

i've personally not really experienced any issues with steelseries stuff, just stuff i didnt care for with a product like the size, etc

but i also work for them, so im definitely not who most people would go for for an opinion on it despite me gaining nothing from lying to anyone about it lol

it most likely isn't a hardware or QA issue at all at a product level @viral dew i believe the issue lies with the software. because i had enabled auto update for firmware updates and it wasn't until a firmware update rolled out and auto installed both times that the products died

I dont think it was, as I tried two different browsers. I contacted amazon to exchange it through them as I do think its hardware related as I tried to reinstall drivers and reinstalled the software a few times and repaired the headset to the receiver a few times too. If I have issues with the new unit I will try and go through more steps to get through to the ticket. Thank you for reaching out though!

Foot note to add to my ramble on the nova’s and what they actually work with. I found out that my headphone jack adapter was actually broken, so getting a new one from apple, I can now confirm the nova’s work, wired with the included headphone jack cable not sure if the wireless comes with this, with quite literally any device with a headphone jack. Xbox controller? Yes, phone? Yes, chromebook? Yes, pass through port on a quadcast s? Yes, goddamn

Oh and to add to that, yes they work perfectly with a Nintendo switch, along with an oculus quest 2

but you can’t get just a stand-alone nova pro headphone ~~queue the arctis pro standalone ~~

I mean you can do that since the dac (gen 2) theoretically will take any input output device connecting through a headphone jack as it doesn’t actually know if the headphones currently connected are nova’s. You can trick it

I like my nova pro wireless. they're comfy, but on Macos at least support is minimal: GG doesn't even show the headphones and if you adjust the volume they pop/crackle/distort and the only way to fix it is to unplug and plug in the controller. On windows everything works for me.

Usually if you're not configured it correctly. It has an "input" and an "output". You need to select Sonar Gaming as your Windows sound output, that inputs sound into Sonar. Then in Sonar you pick your output so that you can hear it :)
