Well for the most part most of the mic noise processing is done in game as far as I know, especially if they're referring to solid background noise. you could try turning your gain down if you can? maybe

Xbox has one of the worst microphone implementations when it comes to gain and background noise so I'm sure that doesn't help. But with the wireless version, most of the issues are impacted by the headset/dac itself

Try setting mic gain to 6 or something on the dac

Yo! Bit off-topic (and apologies for interrupting the current discussion), does anyone have any decent recommendations for screwing with virtual audio IO splitting / redirecting? Among other things, trying to get a default output which sends both discord & game (for game recording / instant replay), while still pushing discord to GameDAC chat & my game to GameDAC game (when it stops bloody vanishing, seriously this is super annoying).

I was mucking about with VAC and I can get it to do what I want, but it involves opening up a bunch of audio repeater windows which seems really arsey. Also was looking at VoiceMeeter's Banana tool, but there's a limitation on I/O - up to 5 in and 5 out.

The hinges on the APW may have been metal, but the way they were connected to the actual cans of the headset was incredibly weak compared to the weight of the headset which caused a lot of breaks. The hinge design on the Nova Pro Wireless is redesigned to be sturdier where the hinges connect to the cans, plus the Nova's are noticeably lighter than the APW which helps a lot with durability

Take the AirPods Max, for example. They are made of all metal and they weight almost 100 grams more than the Nova Pro's.

I personally never had the old APW so I can't directly compare them, but I was using the Arctis 9 for about a year before these came out. The 9 is essentially the same as the Pros minus the base station and swappable batteries. But I'd say the Nova's definitely sound better, they're lighter and smaller and more durable than the old APWs

My Haymaker headphones also have the mic bump. The Razer version has a slightly smaller bump on them. The Haymaker has much deeper pads so you'd never feel it. I don't notice the Nova Pro bump unless it's slightly out of position, but it really gets super close

I thought it was only supposed to work with the new Arctis Nova Pro Wireless, but it worked with my Arctis Pro Wireless almost immediately. It allowed me to get a better sound out the microphone on the headset.

I chose the Deep Voice preset. Brings more clarity into the low end while reducing a ton of background noise.

Plus the better low end with that preset helps it sound more natural.

I have a mic test saved from Audacity on my PC. Will share after I get off work.

Finally comparing nova pro to pro wireless.

I connected the Nova Pro Air via wireless and measured the frequency response. Then I connected via aux to the Game Dac from the wired version, set to 96khz 24 bit and measured again, nearly identical. Then I measured the Nova Pro (wired version) with the Game Dac and measured that one.

The Nova Pro Wireless edition creates a better seal because the ear pads are actually 2-3mm thicker. This not only presents more bass when you wear it, but the deeper ear cup allowed for stronger measured bass as well.

Astro A50. Doesn't sound as good (once tuned). It has no BT support, no aux, sub par battery life, etc.. I'm not trying to trash A50s, they're still good. But The Nova Pro is giving you a class leading gaming headset that just happens to throw in a hidden mic and support to use as a wireless headphone when traveling

Doesn't have to be the best music headphone at 350. It's just one of the better gaming headsets that also allows you to use it however you want

I think it could save some people money because they don't need to buy a diff pair for travel and music if they don't want to

This dac doesn't need any large amount of data support. Typically USB 3.0 and above ports have a little more power going to them so it helps charge your batteries faster

Im thinking - now bare with me here - if you run the PS5 hdmi audio through an audio extractor to the soundblaster via optical, and then connect the soundblaster to a USB C splitter cable which runs into the gamedac, would that work?

For using it on the ps5 yeah, bcaus i am a pc gamer but sometimes i play on the ps5 and love to be in touch on discord on the pc.
But whenever i use a audio cable on the controller, the audio of pc turns off..
And connecting the headset on pc AND PS5 and using it on the same time is not possible.

Actually clips are stored in your computer’s clips directory under videos in your file explorer but I cannot guarantee when reinstalling the engine your moments will recognize the previously clipped clips and I don’t know how to modify a file in order to force recognization

I have the wave mic, here is what I'm thinking: the mic has a line out (I can redirect all audio in pc to the output on the mic) then connect this to aux in the wireless station. this way I can use the wave mic to chat and mix the audio from the console and the pc at the same time (ofc BT is easier) but I'm trying to see if there is any benefit on doing this

That should work great

You won't be able to force PC audio to be louder than console audio, but you can always turn the console audio output down slightly to help give you a little overhead

basically aux will match the max volume of what the headset is set to
