active noise canceling is only really useful in a very noisy environment (an office or train for example). for most use cases noise isolation is the better option. it would also not be possible to just add active noise canceling to a headset that wasn't built for it since requires an on board audio processing chip capable of doing it and a fairly specific microphone setup

The 650 is the exact same button layout as the 600. Only differences there is the wireless on the 650 + the extra weight. Go for the Aerox 5 wireless if you want the extra buttons and like a honeycomb mouse body. It'll also be lighter than the 650

I've used headsets that weighed considerably less than the APWs that felt a lot heavier, due to less optimal weight balancing. You can get away with a lot if it's set properly.

That's precisely what I just did. My 3 year old APWs finally succumbed to the dreaded hinge snap two weeks ago. I would suggest getting the 3-year replacement plan with them, though... As SS leaves your ass hanging in the wind if it breaks out of warranty. You can't even pay to have them repaired.

Not really: the earcup is smaller, the angle which whom the pivot enters the earcup is different and now you can height adjust the earcups. This helps with weight and pressure distribution, so snapping should be more rare.

it's technically not a bug, it's just a limitation of how the BT is connected.

Does the new headset lack in any features compared to APW or does it have everything + more?

the base station on the APW can control the BT volume but only the headset is connected to the BT device, so it needs to sync the BT volume between the two devices. it can't just directly ask for the volume level becasue of the BT version not supporting that, so instead it just turns the volume all the way down to zero to "sync" the levels, then turns it back up to whatever the base station says is the volume level

Keep in mind it does affect sound quality

Leather/plu/etc, will typically have better bass extension and you get better passive noise isolation. The sound is more intimate as well. Sport fabric/hybrids can open up the sound a little bit and make it sound more airy, but the low frequency bass may roll off slightly.

There's more to it than that, but those are some basic principles

Just tested it the best I could. Headset on and with signal, headset on without signal. Sound cranked on transmitter. No white noise. Tried walking away, still no white noise

If I take out the battery then I can hear a 1 dB difference or something

The problem with whitenoise on wireless headphones is that it is being transmitted through signal in space.
