personally I play at maybe 800-1600 DPI/CPI (depending on game) and never had an issue, a lot of mice I'll actually leave at the lowest settings, I prefer a higher ratio of physical movement to in-game movement, for me it feels more precise because I'm not jumping everywhere at every little movement.

I believe a lot of the Arctis headsets share drivers. The increase in price comes from the convenience of the dock and other innovations. Every product has its niche, and the Arctis Pros are by no means audiophile headphones, but I'd say theyre great for gaming headphones. Never having to use a cable is pretty nice IMO.

Unless you have the extra cash to drop on the Pro for the Omnipoint switches, go with the 7. The adjustable actuation is nice to have and they do feel a lot better than regular linear red switches IMO, but if you're looking for a more tactile switch like a blue or brown then save the money and go with the 7 since other than the option for Omnipoint switches, the Pro and 7 are the same board

There's an R6 Siege preset already built into Sonar, but if you aren't liking that one then, in general if you want more base you should up the 20-250Hz range a little bit. There's also the Shooter preset which you can use as a baseline and tweak from their until you get a sound you like. There's also plenty of online tutorials for tuning EQs based on audio type, use case, etc. that will be a lot more helpful. I don't know if there's many Sonar specific guides yet since the software is still in Beta but you can try digging around on the SteelSeries website for a blog post or something explaining Sonar a bit better

I have seen people needing to break their headsets for the RMA process. I have also seen a couple of cases where steelseries support basically did nothing about it. Should I be worried about that? Also why is the reason that people break their headsets

Fraud and scam protection. If they don't have proof that the headset is physically broken (like if a firmware issue bricks a headset or water spills on it and it no longer works) there is no physical evidence of the headset being broken, so SteelSeries needs to ensure that the headset you're trying to get a replacement for physically does not work to prevent you from getting a second free headset.

It also saves you the time and trouble of shipping the product back to SteelSeries where they would have to verify the issue for themselves and break the headset on site before shipping you a new one

I should also point out that the Reddit is mostly just people complaining about issues and making a problem seem larger than it actually is. I've been using Arctis headsets for about 4 years now (the 5 and now the 9) and I've had 0 issues with them. I toss my Arctis 5 in a backpack and travel with them without any kind of case or protection and they've never broken.

SteelSeries seems to be about middle of the road as far as theirs go, I switch between their stock leather ones and 3rd party Velour with some extra thickness depending on the season and what I'm using them for.

the 400 hours is likely based on very high quality high capacity AAA batteries near the top end of what a concerning consumer can get. Cheap ones from the dollar store obviously won't last as long, rechargeable AAA batteries have an even shorter life, because chemistry (but hey, they're rechargeable!), and even decent batteries might get you close to 400 hours but only in ideal circumstances (no RGB, low polling rates, etc).

Also sometimes the packs of batteries you get at a store have been sitting for months, so they have less charge than ones fresh out of the factory. These "dud packs" can make it feel like you have to change batteries a lot more often than usual.

Since I don't like waste, as a rule I always get rechargeable AA and AAA batteries and just deal with swapping them more often, as it saves me time and money since I always have a freshly charged set waiting to go when I need them, and I don't have to find a place to recycle dead batteries all the time.
