Yeti is the better overall. The Snowball is fine for most things, but unless you keep it pretty close to your mouth when you talk it'll pick up a lot of ambient noise and less of your actual voice since it has a pretty low overall gain. The Yeti is bigger but overall better in terms of audio quality, plus more versatile with the different capture modes if you need them, adjustable gain knob, and headphone jack for audio monitoring

The HyperX Quadcast and Elgato Wave 1 and Wave 3 mics are also good equivalents to the Yeti within the same price range

because the ice is more of a voice over mic due to the fact that it only has 1 pattern

so keeping it close to my mouth would bump the quality up a bit

Yeah that would be fine for a setup like then. If you're specifically looking at the Snowball then you should also check out the Elgato Wave 1 since they're more or less direct competitors, plus the Elgato mic comes with some really good audio mixing software

for $26 you're not going to get a whole lot of quality and features compared to SS, and the RGB (if there is any) will probably be very limited. That said, some brands at the price point (Redragon etc) are actually fairly decent, so if you really want a mech and you're ok with tossing $30 on a "maybe" board you might be decently surprised. You'll still have the Apex to go back to if it sucks.

my rival 310 started acting up the other day after a few years of owning it, so I figured that with all the abuse it got its time to get a new mouse, I was gonna get a mouse that was around 30-75 bucks after much thought i had decided it was gonna be the logitech g502, I went on amazon and noticed the rival 600 was on sale for less than the g502, so the choice wasn't even hard at all, and i love the rival 600 just as much or more than the 310 (the grip isn't dimpled, which means it wont collect dirt to show off i hope), i went into this full well knowing I might have to glue the grip back on but the rest of the mouse makes it worth it!

iirc if you put the mic closer to to center of the cab speaker you get more trebble, closer to the edge you have more bass, also if you have a good room further back can get natural reverb etc

ah yes the studio reverb, didn't think of that. Otherwise I would think placement is just an extra variable that you don't need when you can adjust levels and all in the actual mixer. But my piddly lack of experience means I have laughably little knowledge and therefore my guesses are simply that.

I suppose if you wanted the actual noise of the strumming and all the mic would make more sense, but except for solos that's usually drowned out anyway. Or if you had just the one mic for both guitar and vocals. IDK.

anyways, I'll have a look at the channel when I look into getting a new mic, thanks for the info on that! Might also look for some recommendations later on if you're the guy to go to for that sort of thing.
