Hey. I have an artis 7 headset. 1-2 months ago it started a weird stupid thing. Without any notification mic stops working. Nothing logical steps solve this, like reconnect to discord, checking settings, etc. If I mute the mic with the physical button, then unmute it, then it starts working again. In the last 2 hours this happened twice. I strongly believe its not contact problem, so its not a hw related problem but something stupid is happening on software level. Thats an issue with discord itself, share app only to avoid it or disable sonar while sharing desktop

Due to a bug in Discord's screen capture, Discord may capture Sonar outputs as part of the desktop audio, which can lead to echoing when screen sharing.

This issue can be fixed by setting Discord's capture to only capture a specific app. Application capture will only play audio from the selected app, and will not erroneously capture Sonar audio.

Alternatively, if you'd still want to capture the full desktop, you can use Sonar's streamer mode to manually choose what audio to send over your mic, and mute the stream sharing audio. More information on how to do this is in the links below.

Is there a perm fix for sonar and discord screen share?

With each restart I have to mute discord from my mic and my headset so it doesn't echo my voice my friend voices through the screen share

Due to a bug in Discord's screen capture, Discord may capture Sonar outputs as part of the desktop audio, which can lead to echoing when screen sharing.

This issue can be fixed by setting Discord's capture to only capture a specific app. Application capture will only play audio from the selected app, and will not erroneously capture Sonar audio.

Alternatively, if you'd still want to capture the full desktop, you can use Sonar's streamer mode to manually choose what audio to send over your mic, and mute the stream sharing audio. More information on how to do this is in the links below.

i have my dac (steel series thingy) connected to my pc
I need it to output sound to my tv so it can go to my surround sound, but spotify keeps wanting to output to the virtual device (steel series) when i have steel series software open, but now when i close the software (which removes the devices) it still wont play sound even tho its using the correct device now

normally just setting it to my tv here works just fine, sometimes i have to set it in windows too, but now doing either just isnt working and spotify keeps wanting to use my virtual device (headset). which btw the virtual device is not the default device, my headset is, i just dont understand why its doing it

its showing this in steel series software when i change it in windows

so now it makes me wonder, should i be connecting my tv or surround sound to the DAC?

What is the purpose of these percentages that seem to only exist in the interace? That number does not change with the slider and it does not seem to be set anywhere else in windows. You can click it and manually enter a value and does affect volume but overall I see not explanation for it.

I can't move the game to the “Gaming” tab in SteelSeries. It moves to the ‘Chat’ section. Even if I load it into the “Gaming” section, I can't hear any sound. I also tried adjusting the settings in Windows. Sonar is active.

In order for apps to output to the other devices in Sonar, you'll need to route the apps to the specified device. Routing can be done in one of two ways:

1. Use the routing drag and drop interface underneath the audio outputs to simply move any apps playing sounds to the required output

2. Open the Windows sound device by going to Settings > Sound > App Volume and Device Preferences. From this settings menu you can use the dropdown to route any app.

3. If you are having issues with step 2 or step 3 above, you may need to check the app itself for any sound output settings. Some apps like Discord, Spotify, and Apple Music may need to have their outputs changed within their app settings rather than done through Sonar.

If you see the "Sonar did not allow this app to change outputs" error, then step 1 above did not work, and you may need to do step 2 or step 3 to route your audio.

The Nova 7 Gen 2 is an instant return from me. The microphone is absolutely horrible.

Meanwhile the Nova 3 mic absolutely smashes the 7 Gen 2, while they both use the same speaker drivers.

This is sort of an insane pricing structure considering the quality of the 7 is pretty terrible.

There's a very good comparison here showing the 3 up against the 7. For the extra cash shelled out for the 7 you'd expect the mic quality to exceed the budget model...
