Couldn't get this to work, I think the main problem was that sonar didn't like holding down the key when I sent it through this - for now I'm using the note pad and just repeatedly tapping them to increase/decrease the volume. What's the scrollwheel thing because I might be able to mess around with it and try again with the CC

Hey! I have an arctis 7x (it’s a bit old 🙃) and primarily use it for PS5 but will occasionally use it on PC. It’s worked perfectly until last week when it randomly turned side tone on while playing on PS5. its my Arctis Nova 1 headset. i just got it today and so far not many complaints, the sound is solid, the lightweight frame is awesome and the sonar app is awesome.

problem is the built in mic it has isnt working. and ive looked over tutorials and all sorts of videos but it wont allow me to use the mic or at least it wont pick up.

oh, i never replied to this. based on the product page. the nova 7 gen 2 claims a clearcast gen 2 mic with 100-7000hz response with 16khz/8bit bandwith. the nova 5 also says clearcast gen 2, but above it actually says 2.x and it also claims 100-10000hz response with 32khz/16bit bandwith

the nova 3 wireless also has the improved mic

In order for apps to output to the other devices in Sonar, you'll need to route the apps to the specified device. Routing can be done in one of two ways:

1. Use the routing drag and drop interface underneath the audio outputs to simply move any apps playing sounds to the required output

2. Open the Windows sound device by going to Settings > Sound > App Volume and Device Preferences. From this settings menu you can use the dropdown to route any app.

3. If you are having issues with step 2 or step 3 above, you may need to check the app itself for any sound output settings. Some apps like Discord, Spotify, and Apple Music may need to have their outputs changed within their app settings rather than done through Sonar.

If you see the "Sonar did not allow this app to change outputs" error, then step 1 above did not work, and you may need to do step 2 or step 3 to route your audio.

hey guys, i need some help with the sonar program. i really dont comprehend how this works. i have a artic nova 1 and in the computer control panel -> sound it shows as multiple headsets. which it then always selects the gaming option as a default, however it raises a problem that whenever im on a discord call and watching something like a youtube video, the sound from the video echos back into the call so everyone can hear what im watching.
I've tried looking into the sonar and now if i attempt to connect a speaker to the pc and set up that speaker to be the sound output in the control panel, the sonar app doesnt update into the speaker so i need to also go there and manually adjust it to the speaker (and then back to headsets whenever im done). im sure its not how its supposed to work but i just havent figured out how to set things up correctly

Go set it yourself as the defaults for output and input, then go into the sonar mixer. Then grab all your sound/mic inputs/outputs aqnd move everything into the excluded devices, then grab from the excluded devices your steal series device and move it into output devices then click the little paperclip beside your device and set it for all outputs. Then click it again and it will lock it, then go do the same for mics, its possible your other output and input sound devices that came with the computer are taking over, if you don't separate them into the excluded devices and the one you want live they will fight each other. Why i drag them down so they cant do there own thing. Then go into your sound settings on the PC and for each app, game or device running i go and set the output to the steel series gaming output and for the mic i test and finnd which one is the livvve mic as the sonar app or my PC shows two different mics for my Artis Pro wireless that i have. Then whatever game you are playing go into the audio settings in the game set the output device to the gaming headset output, and then the input for the mi as most games when you leave it saying default computer sound selections, was screwing up, why i just do it all manual. Seems like alot but its not and once you have it figured out takes 10 seconds to switch to the headset.

Looking for recommendations.

Looking at both of Nova 7 Gen 2 and Nova Pro Wireless headsets as I'm currently on the Arctis 7P+.

Looking at either of these for use with mainly a PS5 as my gaming PC is currently retired due to room.

Which one out of the two would be better for mainly focused on Console gaming.

Not fussed about mic quality as I know this is what everyone moans about.

More so interested in sound quality.

Both seem pretty close when it comes to Headphone Frequency Response (Wireless)

10-22,000 Hz (Pro) unless plugged in then it's 10-40,000 Hz (Wired)
20-22,000 Hz (N7 Gen 2)

Any help in getting the most out of them would be appreciated

I just installed SteelSeries Sonar and I’m using the mix to configure my microphone.
I managed to set up the equalizer and all the effects nicely, so my mic sounds great inside Sonar.

My question: is it possible to make all these settings (EQ, compression, etc.) actually apply in Discord, or is it limited to just hearing them in the app and impossible to use in other software?

Can anyone talk me off the ledge of a return on these Arctis Nova Elites? Just received them today, but struggling to get any distinguishable sound out of them. Playing Siege and Blops7, and I cannot decipher anything over gunfire. Coming from Astro A40 TRs these sound dramatically worse which shouldn't be the case. I've played around with equalizer, sonar, and presets. Not finding any solutions. Currently have a ticket with support open, but looking for opinions / help.

Make sure you disable any EQs in sonar to keep the audio clean, and in the game channel turn on spatial audio. This is how I have it set. The elites sound great to me, so you might be doing something wrong somewhere

Oh, and make sure you increase the audio quality within window's settings. Go to settings, sound, and for both media and game up the audio quality if possible. Make sure that the actual elites themselves have the audio quality increased as well

So I’ve just bought the nova elites as a birthday treat to myself after a pretty horrendous 12 months.
I only own a ps5, and I was very upset to see that out of the box they need a firmware update but steel series have confirmed in writing to me that they cannot be updated without a pc or laptop running macOS or windows. I own neither and have no friends or family to borrow from and as I wanted this headset for more than just gaming as a disabled person with social anxiety it was to manage my overstimulation if I have to leave home for medical appointments.
I was very disappointed to receive a short sharp you have to have a computer to update firmware response from STEELSERIES. I’ve checked their product page and full product information guide download and there isn’t anything that states that if you intend to use this device solely with a ps5 and have no access to a computer then vital firmware updates will not be able to be applied. And I say vital, as if they weren’t vital then they wouldn’t release them.
Plenty of other manufacturers offer firmware updates via a mobile device app so why can’t steel series, especially on their flagship £600 headsets??

Can't arctis nova pro wireless take advantage of dolby atmos licensing, using all its chanels? Since the Sonar Gaming Channel has 8 channels 96khz the option is disabled. Once we use the arctis nova headset (normal channel, not sonar) that only has 2 channels and 48hkz, we're able to activate the dolby atmos. Anyone has a clue here? It does however keep the bridge between normal and gaming channels functioning while you're using 2 channel audio. Any ideas?

Thanks for the reply but while It might have more functions, sonar does not itself have the same spatialization signals as dolby atmos signal.
Basically what im questioning is when a videogame for example, natively supports dolby atmos, the signal itself wil be processed by sonar's equalization so to speak.
But if thats how you put it, i suppose it means its not supported for Sonar, therefore, should we keep the spatial audio option turned on, or off when a game supports spatial audio? If off, does it mean the spatial audio option only transforms/emulates 2ch into spatial sound? Or it will take advantage of any game that supports 3d/spatial audio with more chanels than stereo?

lastly, is there a option do turn of the DAC when pc is off, while keeping the USBs energized?

Many SteelSeries headsets come with Sidetone, which allow you to hear yourself through the headset’s mic for better clarity when talking.

I want the ease of controlling bass,mid,high and all of that without having to open the steelseries gg app every time I want to make an adjustment. Any help would be appreciated!
