Good evening, I trust you are all well. It's been a week or so that I have no sound coming through my headphones when connected to my GameDAC , arctis nova pro wired for PC and XBOX, on sonar it shows that there is sound, the bars light up according to sound, but on my GameDAC nothing L & R do not light up when there is sound. When I take the headphones out and connect to my monitor I get sound, no GameDAC connection. I also connect my PC to my tv and set the sound accordingly on PC, through tv and not through GameDAC. When I use my PC for gaming I use my headphone connected to GameDAC and I set my sound to SteelSeries Sonar - Gaming. My drivers are up to date GG version 40.0.0 and GSDK version 2.4.20.0 Not sure what I am doing wrong, Can anyone help?

Hi peeps, wondering if anyone out there has had this issue/logs before. Moments stopped working automatically months ago and now I want it working again so I've been trying to figure out why it's not working. Eventually found the log file and saw this, which seems like an encoder issue. I have a case opened with SS Support and they agreed, and their answer is they are having devs integrate an encoder into the software... No idea how long that will take, so I would rather fix the problem with the encoder on my end.

Hey @gritty nest I work with IT, let me see here. I think there's an encoding update-file for Windows 10 and later. I had to install it on my Win 11 system to get my encodings to work too. It didn't have it. Give me a minute to look that up for you.

Appreciate the advice! I installed KCP 17.6.6 and rebooted. Tried again and unfortunately the same issue is still occuring. This same error happens on every game BTW, not just DOTA2. I wonder is there a config file in GG that determines which encoder to use. The "attempting to create (empty) encoder" seems like something is off perhaps.

@mint pollen Hello! I would advise, uninstall the GG application clean, by unininstaling first, next restarting your Windows 10 system. A restart cleans all residual files laying in installation folders that are deleted each next restart. After this, re-install the GG program. Let us know if this fixes your issue.

Also, I thought I would mention, if you are using the classic mic jack, and not the USB port on a Windows 10 system, it is out of date and the mic jack is not fully supported by Windows 10+ and later. I have heard it will be removed completely on Win12, we'll see when it's released. Time to upgrade my friend!

unfortunately I sent the Arctis Nova Pro back. These are definitely really great headphones but the software is unfortunately not that great. (Steelseries GG) that does not work with Wave Link and independently converts the standard sounds in Windows, which is an absolute no-go. But I will stay on the server and hope they fix it soon.

i do, you have to use their badly built software feature called sonar to make it sound anywhere near okay but even with that it sounds very off
it's nothing like the arctis pro where you can just set it up through gamedac with little to no software needed

if needed i can share my sonar settings with you through dms to see if that helps you

sonar isn't needed, it just improves on what is already there. the headsets should sound good without any software installed. If it sounds bad then you need to check if something is causing issues (i.e reinstall GG to uninstall DTS from arctis 5, check other audio programs on your PC, etc)

again, didn't need to use any of their awful software with my arctis pro because the gamedac was capable of doing it but with the nova pro you absolutely have to have the software if you want to tweak any of the EQ settings or even just use the chat/game sound switch

sure, sonar is needed for chatmix, but for general audio quality, the same graphical EQ is on the base station that was on the arctis 5, so you can make the same adjustments on the base station without Sonar's more advanced parametric EQ.

again, the headsets should sound fine without Sonar. there may be tweaks you need to make if you have preferences, but overall it shouldn't sound "bad" unless you made some pretty bold EQ changes before

and the most customization i would have with this headset is turning the volume up and down

whereas with the arctis pros that i had before, i didn't need any piece of software at all to customize them, not even for the chat mix or for the eq

if you had an arctis 5 before, I'd recommend a full uninstall and reinstall of GG, I've heard that the DTS software (that comes with the arctis 5) likes to linger around and can sometimes cause audio quality quirks when other SS headsets are plugged in

their software actually broke my arctis pros

so i had to do a full uninstall for them to work at all

then when i "upgraded" to these nova pros

i was forced to reinstall their software again for a feature as simple as the chatmix to work

i tried everything i could to avoid installing steelseries software because i had such a bad experience with it with the previous headset

but if i had avoided installing it and using sonar, i found i was completely unable to customize anything, no chatmix, no eq, nothing apart from volume

so if this is the regular experience with the nova pros god help anybody planning to purchase them to use with a console

The problem is if I use them Sonar seems to get all jacked up and then the next time I restart or GG is updated the Elgato shortcuts don't work anymore. Is there an Elgato specific plugin for Sonar/GG?

but the optical switches on the Apex 9 TKL, and the hall effect switchs on the Wooting two HE, should both be analogue capable, and in theory they should have shorter reset times, i can't find any reviews comparing how much of a upgrade that is over a mechanical switch, or how the Wooting compares to the Apex 9

I don't think the Apex 9 is "analog capable" since the optical switches just detect if something is breaking the optical beam. The optical sensor just knows if the beam is partially blocked or fully blocked, so that's how it can do the two typing sensitivities. If you want the full "analog" switch, then you'd be looking at the Apex Pro

When im talking with my work PC everything is great, but when i hop on discord on my personal people say my voice distorts and is sometimes uninteligable. I hear things grainy and generally not great.

I can't tell if its a Bluetooth connection thing or a hardware or software thing idk.

if your headset uses the 3.5mm plug (the long headphone jack thing) then it won't show up in engine. Engine only supports USB headsets.

i was setting up sonar on my new pc and i have set all the apps to be correctly routed to the correct channels and i see that the channels are picking up the sound coming from the apps but im not hearing anything in my headphones. There is one other playback device that i can select from and its the corret one. Chat and mic work completely fines with their routed apps to the channels and i can hear through them but i cant hear anything through media and gaming even though the respected apps are routed into them. i reinstalled multiple times and made sure that there arent any other apps on my pc that may be apart of the problem. any ideas?

Mine was doing the same thing. it sounds like there was a glitch somewhere in the update process.....when i clicked on this one in the audio list, I was able to hear feed back in the mic on the live preview through the gg application. yours might look slightly different based on the model you have.

Oh. Act like you're changing the volume level on the computer, so the little speaker. There should be an option beside the volume slider that has a speaker or headset, then an arrow. If you click on that little emblem, it should give you a list.

okay, @chrome hill for some odd reason, I don't get feed back in the mic at all through the GG unless I have the mic sidetone at low. Which is very odd......and then i can hear literally everything in my background. usually an uninstall and a re-pair fixes the issue. I'm officially at a loss. Guys im in a bit of a pickle atm, got a pair of arctis pro wireless, i need to pair them to the dock otherwise i cant use them but to do so i need to hold the volume scroll wheel down for about 6 seconds... issue is, it broke some time ago when the headset fell on the ground. Ive searched on internet and from what i could gather, there is a way to pair them through software by using a file called pair-apw but i dont have such file. Is there a solution? i had mine for two years? the sensor and buttons all feel good but it was just really small for my hand but i feel like i have unilaterally large hands or something

i compared its size to other mice and it definitely wasn't small

i just replaced mine for a G502 X wireless because it was too small and was hurting my hand lol
