To add to my post, if you have a wireless dongle, hold down the pairing button while plugging it in, hard reset headphones, clean install of software.

The key was holding the button down on dongle when pressing in. It returned it from a non working state, wasn’t even lighting up when plugged in.

Grand Theft Auto and so on..

Hey i have my arctis nova pro wireless headset and sonar seems really buggy suddenly it was all normal just like 2 weeks ago and now it has problems with identifying my headset, like literally when my pc starts telling me how the headset is not compatible even though it lists its name so it knows what headset it is, and it worked for the last 2 years, and asks me if i wanna switch to it or if i should ignore it...

I'm using SteelSeries GG Sonar with a non-SteelSeries headset and I've run into a loop issue. I can constantly hear my own voice playback.

The only way I can stop hearing myself is by muting the "Stream Mix" in the Master section. If I unmute it, my mic audio loops back into my ears immediately. I’ve already checked the Mic tab and "Add to personal mix" is definitely disabled.

How can I keep the Stream Mix active for my stream/recordings without it routing my own mic back to my headset? It seems like a routing loop within Sonar itself.

I received the SteelSeries Alias today and connected it to my PC via USB-C as intended.

However, no matter how I adjust the gain, I never get more than two green LEDs on the level indicator—even when the microphone is literally right in front of my mouth. At the moment, it’s positioned in front of my keyboard, about 35 cm away, which should be a perfectly reasonable speaking distance.

I have also installed the latest drivers using SteelSeries GG.

have you specifically plugged in the dongle, or just wired in the headset? pretty much every headset with a dongle will use the dongle to communicate with GG, and you just need the dongle plugged in (and the headset turned on and connected to the dongle)

Due to a bug in Discord's screen capture, Discord may capture Sonar outputs as part of the desktop audio, which can lead to echoing when screen sharing.

This issue can be fixed by setting Discord's capture to only capture a specific app. Application capture will only play audio from the selected app, and will not erroneously capture Sonar audio.

Alternatively, if you'd still want to capture the full desktop, you can use Sonar's streamer mode to manually choose what audio to send over your mic, and mute the stream sharing audio. More information on how to do this is in the links below.

If you're still getting an echo, or if your echo is happening even without screensharing, please contact SteelSeries Support at the link below.

Hey everyone, I'm encountering a very annoying bug with my new Apex Pro Gen 3.

Whenever I press the "Num Lock" key, the GIF playing on the OLED screen completely freezes. Along with the screen freezing, the Num Lock indicator light also bugs out—sometimes it doesn't light up white when activated, and if it does, it gets stuck and won't turn off when I disable Num Lock.

It seems like a syncing/polling issue between the keyboard and the SteelSeries GG software. For context:

I do NOT have any conflicting third-party RGB software running in the background (OpenRGB is closed, no other active lighting overrides).

I actively use Sonar and Moments, so SteelSeries GG is running normally in the background.

All firmware and software are up to date.

Given the price tag of this keyboard, this kind of software/firmware instability is quite frustrating. Has anyone else experienced this specific OLED/indicator freeze with the Gen 3? Is there a known workaround, or are we just waiting for a firmware patch? Thanks in advance!

About like a years ago roughly I'd play OverWatch 2 and get around 140 fps give or take but recently I've been getting random stuttering and freezing.
I don't think it's my hardware failing because I can run Minecraft with shaders and around 500+ mods perfectly fine and still get around 200 Fps.

Hi, I’m having an issue with SteelSeries GG Moments feature.

In the Moments tab, it shows as “OFF” and I’m unable to take clips. When I go into Settings > Capture and Sound and try to enable “Allow Moments to capture while gaming”, the toggle turns red instead of enabling, and it doesn’t activate.

Because of this, Moments never starts capturing and I can’t use the clipping shortcut (Alt + S). Desktop Capture Mode also doesn’t seem to fix the issue.

I’ve already tried:

• Restarting SteelSeries GG
• Checking capture settings
• Making sure my microphone and audio devices are selected
• I Have Enough storage space
  But the problem still persists.

Could you please help me figure out why Moments stays OFF and why the toggle won’t turn on?

In order for apps to output to the other devices in Sonar, you'll need to route the apps to the specified device. Routing can be done in one of two ways:

1. Use the routing drag and drop interface underneath the audio outputs to simply move any apps playing sounds to the required output

2. Open the Windows sound device by going to Settings > Sound > App Volume and Device Preferences. From this settings menu you can use the dropdown to route any app.

3. If you are having issues with step 2 or step 3 above, you may need to check the app itself for any sound output settings. Some apps like Discord, Spotify, and Apple Music may need to have their outputs changed within their app settings rather than done through Sonar.

If you see the "Sonar did not allow this app to change outputs" error, then step 1 above did not work, and you may need to do step 2 or step 3 to route your audio.

Hey I recently purchased the steelseries arctis nova pro 5 and I downloaded the steelseries GG software but whenever I hop into discord and try streaming for friends they hear their voice through my stream.
I tried a few things but can't seem to fix it

Due to a bug in Discord's screen capture, Discord may capture Sonar outputs as part of the desktop audio, which can lead to echoing when screen sharing.

This issue can be fixed by setting Discord's capture to only capture a specific app. Application capture will only play audio from the selected app, and will not erroneously capture Sonar audio.

Alternatively, if you'd still want to capture the full desktop, you can use Sonar's streamer mode to manually choose what audio to send over your mic, and mute the stream sharing audio. More information on how to do this is in the links below.

If you're still getting an echo, or if your echo is happening even without screensharing, please contact SteelSeries Support at the link below.

This happens sometimes Make sure that you completely and all processes related to Steelseries go down to the bottom corner of your menu and see if you can exit Steelseries from the hidden icons And make sure it's completely 100 percent closed. Find the app in your start menu right click and choose Run as Administrator It should give you override capabilities when turning on the sometimes things go wrong and stay wrong until you run in admin mode. This is always helped me when I have run into this problem

It all started the day before, when my aim trainer stopped running: when opening Steelseries gg, everything was fine, when launching aim traner, it checked the integrity of the files and opened the full-screen download of the application, which simply did not end. Now I have completely reinstalled the application and started downloading aim trainer, but it does not download a single megabyte, despite the fact that my Internet speed is 500 megabits per second. Windows recognizing the headset means it detects the dongle. You're unlikely to get audio with it saying not connected.

In the control panel>Manage audio devices>Sounds>Right click Arctis Nova Pro Wireless>Properties>Levels, headphones is locked at 0.0 dB and can not be moved. All my other headsets work fine. This suddenly happen about a couple of days ago. I have done everything I know to fix it. Of course Steelseries does not get back to me when I try and contact them. You can not call a customer service agent. The only thing I could do is chat with an AI bot, which after I explained what was going on, all I was told is they will email me back. No email!! After all of the money I have spent for a Steelseries headset, you would think I would get someone to help me with my headset.

I recently bought a new headset, the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5. It comes with a companion app that allows you to adjust various settings.
Unfortunately, I’m having some trouble with the configuration because the app is quite complicated for me. I’ve tried multiple times to set everything up correctly, but I keep running into new issues.
My current problem is that when I stream my entire screen on Discord, my friends can hear both me and themselves twice (like an echo).
What I would like to do is stream my full screen while also playing music in the background, so I can show my friends something without it being annoying. However, this isn’t working properly at the moment.
I would really appreciate any help or suggestions.
If anyone here speaks German and is familiar with this headset or its settings, I’d also be grateful if we could maybe go over it together via a Discord video call, since my English isn’t very strong.

The steelseries app is getting really cluttered and heavy for no reason

When I turn on my Steelseries Nova 7, I gamble to have the Chat/Game dial volume working properly

The Sonar is terribly slower than it was few months ago

Audio switch fails many times because it won't detect properly the headphones are off or on

It's just been an overall unpleasant experience so much that I prefer not having auto audio switch since it's buried in a bunch of menus of the app and I just use Elgato's Wavelink now

The experience using the app is just not good, I cannot get rid of menus I don't use, or at least have it properly focus on Sonar by default which is what I wish to use

There's ups but right now the downs outweigh them

The firmware is up to date on the headphones

I wish there was a way to just install Engine + Sonar

Wave link lacks Auto Audio switch but with the bugs that I get with Sonar not detecting my hardware being on or off (Nova 7) I prefer navigating a less cluttered UI to change output rather than Steelseries'

I have nova 7 and suddenly the chatmix stopped working 2 days ago, I can slide the dial in the headphones and see the dial in the software move, but the audio won't change at all.

Tried:
Turning off and on the headphones and/or PC
Factory reset of headphones
Update firmware and GG software
Unplug the dongle (both the dongle to the cable and the usb to the computer)

Note: my GG software says that I have the latest update even though it's still using 108.1 instead of 109.1, gonna try uninstalling GG

When the entire screen is displayed in Discord, the viewer hears themselves

Due to a bug in Discord's screen capture, Discord may capture Sonar outputs as part of the desktop audio, which can lead to echoing when screen sharing.

This issue can be fixed by setting Discord's capture to only capture a specific app. Application capture will only play audio from the selected app, and will not erroneously capture Sonar audio.

Alternatively, if you'd still want to capture the full desktop, you can use Sonar's streamer mode to manually choose what audio to send over your mic, and mute the stream sharing audio. More information on how to do this is in the links below.

Many SteelSeries headsets come with Sidetone, which allow you to hear yourself through the headset’s mic for better clarity when talking.

For most headsets, the volume of the Sidetone can be lowered in SteelSeries Engine, which is part of GG. GG can be downloaded here: https://steelseries.com/gg Additionally, if your device has support in the Arctis Companion App, you can change this setting through the app on your phone.

If you have a “Playstation” version of a headset (such as the Arctis Nova 7P) then your headset may have a physical wheel on the headset for turning the sidetone down.

1. sonar isn't required for the headsets to work, you should just be able to set windows to output to the headset device in a pinch. if this isn't working, it might indicate a deeper problem with windows or the physical device

Hi, for some reason I put my PC into sleep mode, and now everything is connected, but nothing is working properly.
I can see audio activity in the GG app from Spotify, but there is no sound coming through. My mic input is also completely dead, although I can still hear feedback of my own voice in the headset.

Arctis Nova 5X Xbox issue. Every couple days when I turn on my xbox and headset the headset doesnt automatically connect and it takes ages of trying to sync them. Hi, when I’m not using my SteelSeries headphones (Arctis Nova 5, USB wireless), how am I supposed to use my external speakers without manually switching to them in Windows, and without disabling the SteelSeries GG program or the Sonar feature?
Why doesn’t the software detect whether the headphones are actually in use? It still forces Sonar to route sound to the headphones even when they’re not set as the default device (which is frustrating). I’ve manually switched to my external speakers, but I still can’t hear any sound because of the Sonar feature.

USB 2.0 is typically white, and USB 3.0 is typically blue. but do keep in mind, thats not always the case. it's best if it deliberately says what type it is.

did you ensure the dongle is in 2.4 GHz mode, update or reinstall the GG software, and try a factory reset of the mouse?

re-pair the device by plugging the dongle directly into a PC USB port, switching the mouse to 2.4GHz mode, and selecting "Pair Device" in the SteelSeries GG Engine menu. If detection fails, perform a hard factory reset by removing batteries, holding the CPI/left/right buttons, and reinserting batteries

also, are you plugging it in directly to the motherboard? if not, try that.

the flashing white indicates the mouse is in 2.4 GHz pairing mode, searching for its USB dongle. To fix it, try re-pairing.

i just bought the arctic Nova Pro (XBOX Edition) and installed it on my computer over the usb connection (not xbox)
It normally seems to work fine but often left and right audio is swapped. (in game and also testing in the Steel Series GG App)

Hi! I need help with my SteelSeries Sonar setup. I'm using Arctis Nova 7 gen 2.
Despite selecting "SteelSeries Sonar - Microphone" as the input device in OBS Studio, the software only picks up the raw microphone audio, completely ignoring all Sonar processing.
I've already tried running both apps as admin and checking windows privacy settings.

Due to a bug in Discord's screen capture, Discord may capture Sonar outputs as part of the desktop audio, which can lead to echoing when screen sharing.

This issue can be fixed by setting Discord's capture to only capture a specific app. Application capture will only play audio from the selected app, and will not erroneously capture Sonar audio.

Alternatively, if you'd still want to capture the full desktop, you can use Sonar's streamer mode to manually choose what audio to send over your mic, and mute the stream sharing audio. More information on how to do this is in the links below.

hey dude had the same issue when i got mine. you have to make sure your PC isnt taking control of the input.

System:
Win + I, System, Sound, (scroll down to advanced) More sound options, recording tab, (select mic) properties, advanced, uncheck everything in exclusive mode

Hello. My steelseries gg app has not been working for around 2 years. Last December I was able to capture about 2 clips before it stopped working again. I've done some research and tried most things I could find, deleted and installed the app again and it still wont work. Whenever I open the app there is a small text that says "off" left corner of Moments as shown in picture. Do you guys have any clue on what I could possibly do to get it working again?

that’s strange, mine is still going strong after some years. You need to keep turning it on and off again or keep it off for a little while, it’s a bug with it

Sometimes it’ll squeak and then no sound will play, give it a minute and/or restart your PC as well

i had the same problem. what did the trick for me was actually only reinstalling windows completely.

I had the option to update to 110.0, but it made GG unusable for now. Built-in update failed and separate installer isn't helping neither. Are older versions available somewhere?

could try downloading the installer manualy and installing it

running GG as admin can cause this error, so make sure GG isn't set to run as admin. you can check by going to the GG exe in program files (C:\Program Files\SteelSeries\GG\SteelSeriesGG.exe), then right clicking and opening the file properties, and then going to "compatibility" to find the admin option.
