Question, I just got a new keyboard, the Apex Pro Gen 3, and I am switching from the Apex Pro (I assume gen 2)

Why... did the illumination move out of the "Gear/Configuration" spot? Like I see that there's 'prism' now but before I could decide to not use that

This was really impotant/useful to me because I set an individual color scheme for every key On all of my custom made profiles, but now it's super disconnected and hard to figure out how to get colors on what profile and it's not even in the same window or directly connected in any way

Can... I change this back or request an update that gives this back? I spent 250 dollars but now I can't do one of the things I get it to do, which is use color coding for a lot of profiles and settings

It's a really big problem honestly, when I try to change my config to something like "Productive" Or games, the colors won't follow.

So I'll hit a macro, excepting the colors to match and it's secretly got a profile that it's not display and it'll run an entirely wrong thing

I don't want to run a work or email macro in the middle of my games when normally that meta layer key is just "I" for inventory because the game is silly

my illumination is not properly working. i turned on my laptop today and my apex pro mini's illumination is malfunctioning, making the bottom row of the letters blue, and it stays that way no matter what color you choose to put it on in the prism, as in it overlays the existing color. For example, when you make the whole keyboard red, the bottom row + the "/" letter become slightly pink. However, when put on a color shifting setting, another problem occurs ontop of the blue bottom row letters, and that is the "C" key isn't correctly timed. Its sometimes late or early in contrast to the letters next to it. Please help and let me know if this is a known software issue or if its a hardware one.

I'm actually at the end of my rope. I have the Apex 3 TKL Wired Keyboard and I have it connected to a Anker adapter via usb which is then connected to my macbook pro through its usb-c port. Every couple days the preset on my keyboard doesn't load, instead doing the color shifting one, and when I open up the steel series GG client it shows my Apex 3 TKL as not found and I can't go back to my preset.

The only way to get it to connect again is to completely uninstall the GG app and reinstall it, which I just did and it now doesn't even show my keyboard there...

Every time I try to connect my nova 5x to my pc via dongle thing, it did not connect I made sure it is updated, put it in Bluetooth pairing mode, held the connection button on the dongle, for whatever reason, it won’t pair.

Then I also tried doing it in steel series gg app and right click settings when both are plugged in and it won’t give the option to pair either. I tried it with and without cable going into the dongle and nothing seems to work. Please help 🙂

Got you — this is a pretty common (and frustrating) issue with SteelSeries wireless headsets like the Nova 5X. Let’s go step-by-step and narrow it down.

🔧 First — quick reality check (important)

The dongle does NOT use normal Bluetooth pairing.
It uses a 2.4GHz wireless connection, so putting the headset in Bluetooth pairing mode won’t connect it to the dongle.

👉 That’s likely the main issue.

✅ Correct way to pair Nova 5X with the dongle

Try this exact process:

Plug the dongle into your PC
Make sure the dongle switch is set to USB / PC mode (not Xbox)
Turn OFF the headset
Now:
Hold the power button on the headset for ~6 seconds
Keep holding until it enters wireless pairing mode (not Bluetooth — different LED behavior)
On the dongle:
Press and hold the pair button (usually a small pinhole button)
Hold for ~5–10 seconds until it starts blinking
Wait a few seconds → they should connect automatically
🔁 If that didn’t work — reset both
Reset headset
Turn it OFF
Hold power button for ~15 seconds (forces reset)
Reset dongle
Unplug it
Plug it back in
Hold its pairing button again

Then retry pairing.

💻 About SteelSeries GG not showing pairing option

That’s normal if:

The headset is not detected at all
Or it’s already paired to another dongle/device

👉 The GG app only shows pairing when:

Dongle is recognized
Headset is in correct 2.4GHz pairing mode
⚠️ Common mistakes (you might be hitting one of these)
❌ Using Bluetooth mode instead of wireless mode
❌ Holding the button too short (needs longer press)
❌ Dongle still paired to another device (console, phone, etc.)
❌ Wrong dongle mode (Xbox vs USB)
❌ Using a USB hub that doesn’t supply enough power
🧪 Extra things to try
Plug dongle directly into PC (no hub)
Try a different USB port
Restart PC after plugging dongle in
Check if Windows sees it as a SteelSeries device
🚨 If NOTHING works

Then it’s likely one of these:

Faulty dongle
Headset not entering pairing mode correctly
Firmware glitch (even if “updated”)

In order for apps to output to the other devices in Sonar, you'll need to route the apps to the specified device. Routing can be done in one of two ways:

1. Use the routing drag and drop interface underneath the audio outputs to simply move any apps playing sounds to the required output

2. Open the Windows sound device by going to Settings > Sound > App Volume and Device Preferences. From this settings menu you can use the dropdown to route any app.

3. If you are having issues with step 2 or step 3 above, you may need to check the app itself for any sound output settings. Some apps like Discord, Spotify, and Apple Music may need to have their outputs changed within their app settings rather than done through Sonar.

If you see the "Sonar did not allow this app to change outputs" error, then step 1 above did not work, and you may need to do step 2 or step 3 to route your audio.

My volume controls don't work for the Elite on PC. I have it directly set on Windows at 2% because 1% is too quiet and 3% is too loud. Neither the wheel on the headset or the dial on the DAC control the volume.

I have the Arctis Nova Elite headphones. I have my MiniPC plugged into USB 1, Switch 2 plugged into USB 2, and PS5 Pro plugged into USB 3 of the GameHub. When my PS5 Pro is in rest mode, the GameHub automatically uses USB 2 and will not me choose USB 3, until the PS5 Pro is turned on. It never switches to USB 3 automatically. This means any time I want to use my PS5 Pro I have to go into the settings and change it from USB 2 to 3 every time I wake the PS5 Pro from rest mode. Is this normal?

Hello! I have a strange issue at the moment. My Artis Nova 7 Diablo 4 Edition headphones will not power on. It is recognized by the PC, and the microphone works, however the power button and the bluetooth button have become non-functional. The charging icon wont even show up. Hello, why does my Apex Pro TKL GEN3 keep switching the colour of “Enter” and “⬇️”?

My PC is off and even so the keyboard switches the colour of the leds even though they are off. I set all the keys on my keyboard to “OFF”, but even so in addition to these two specifically stay lit and changing colours. 🫩

Tried:

• uninstall/reinstall series
• PC restart (Win 11)
• PC update, install Arctis driver; SteelSeries had a new popup with updates but will not install firmware update.
• disabled firewall; tried all of the above again.
• Tried multiple different USB ports.

Both headset and hub have been plugged in the entire time.

Need Help With My Nova 5 something something.
So, whenever i try to stream on discord i hear absurd levels of static. Like you can torture someone with it levels. My guess is it is because of the 24 bit channel, because my arctis 1 and onboard sound card does not have this problem with 16 bit. Problem is, i can't change the bitrate.

Troubleshooting Elite's volume is nuts. When wired, its stuck extremely loud and I need to set Sonar-Gaming to 3%. When wireless, I lose the extra Khz but my headset and DAC regain full control and a reasonable audio range. But Steelseries is helping me fix it

Im using sonar, but i have the "On Game" sound on 25% because its nice for my headsets. But when i clip something, the video have the sound from the system so quiet.

So, on my headsets its okay the volume, but on the clips is so quiet.

If i set the volume on 100%, its to loud for my headsets but its okay to the videos.

Okay since i figured it out after good 2 Hours try and error xD

1. Set SteelSeries Sonar - (in my case, Gaming works best) in your PC's Sound Options as standard output device and SteelSeries Sonar - Microphone as standard input device.
2. In SteelSeries GG -> Sonar Tab: Between the Yellow Mic and the lever, click on your microphone. there you can Drag & Drop your devices. Be sure there is just you Mic.
   In the Game/Chat/Media/Aux tabs, select the Audio output(s) you want to use.
3. In Discord SOund settings, select your SteelSeries Sonar - (In my case again Gaming) as output device and SteelSeries - Microphone as Input device.

That did the job for me.

Due to a bug in Discord's screen capture, Discord may capture Sonar outputs as part of the desktop audio, which can lead to echoing when screen sharing.

This issue can be fixed by setting Discord's capture to only capture a specific app. Application capture will only play audio from the selected app, and will not erroneously capture Sonar audio.

Alternatively, if you'd still want to capture the full desktop, you can use Sonar's streamer mode to manually choose what audio to send over your mic, and mute the stream sharing audio. More information on how to do this is in the links below.

Hi! I’m having an issue with Sonar. When I try to move one device to the 'Excluded Devices' list, multiple other devices move with it automatically. I can't exclude them individually; they seem to be 'linked' or grouped together.

I’ve already tried reinstalling official Realtek drivers and reinstalling Steelseries GG.

It seems Sonar treats all outputs as a single Hardware ID. How can I exclude them one by one without triggering this 'bulk move'?"

i would check with steelseries but without the dongle i would say nope but i could be wrong i have the arctis nova pro wireless and i have to connect the base unit and the headset to update so you may need yo connect the headset and the dongle but as stated check with steelseries direct

Hi, so i have an issue with just bought rival 3 wireless gen 2. Essentially what happens is every once in a while, probably 10-20 minutes of using it bugs out and doesnt let me click the OS elements. Like i can click the sites normally, but clicking windows/linux elements it just doesnt.
CTRL alt delete repairs it but it just occurs again after some time super annoying. I would like to get some opinion before sending this mouse for warranty. I would appreciate help with this issue as i loved rival 3 wireless gen 1 and dont want to refund this one.

no, arctis pro and nova pro are separate. the nova pro uses NP-45 batteries (which are common, they're used in cameras) and the arctis pro uses batteries called "160240 battery" which are unfortunately much less common

That headset came out before the mobile app was a thing so it doesn't support it. Make a support ticket on the website if you can't get it to detect it in macOS. I had the same problem and it randomly started working 🤷

Hello, I bought this Arena 7 2.1 usb about 2 Years ago. The Issue is that the Subwoofer sometimes after turning on the PC is off, then I have to turn the Woofer off and on to get the Woofer active. I tried to serveral things (update GG, uninstall from Device Manager complete ...) nothing works.

Turn off sidetone

Many SteelSeries headsets come with Sidetone, which allow you to hear yourself through the headset’s mic for better clarity when talking.

For most headsets, the volume of the Sidetone can be lowered in SteelSeries Engine, which is part of GG. GG can be downloaded here: https://steelseries.com/gg Additionally, if your device has support in the Arctis Companion App, you can change this setting through the app on your phone.

If you have a “Playstation” version of a headset (such as the Arctis Nova 7P) then your headset may have a physical wheel on the headset for turning the sidetone down.

For analog headsets that use the 3.5mm headphone port, sidetone may be generated by your on-board audio devices. Please refer to your computer manufacturer’s support for more help

Try installing GG again

Don't uninstall before you do (you'll lose your settings)

i came back to my headset with a solid light and it wont connect to my pc and i cant hear anything. iv tried holding down the power button but nothing happens and iv tried holding the Bluetooth button to connect/disconnect it from any devices. no mater what i try i cant get audio from it, please help

Anyone know why the Nova Pro Wireless (Xbox version) isn't being detected by the GG app on Mac? I have the input monitoring enabled and I've restarted the computer a few times.

The Mic / headset works regardless, but just wondering if this is expected behavior on the Mac

Just like to say I also have this issue 90% of the time and I've been going insane trying to resolve it.
ggupdates says a fix for GameDAC chatmix becoming unresponsive was pushed two days ago, but I either don't have the update or it had no effect.
My problem started only within the last week.

90% of the time nothing responds to the hardware dial being moved either way. I disconnected my main headset and used sonar on my built in speakers and the software dial also did not respond.

But the other 10% of the time something (discord or game, specific game doesnt seem to matter) responds which is throwing me off completely, I can't pin down a cause. I've gone through every common resolution that gets flagged.

I am noting that recent mentions of chatmix are fraught with the exact same problem, so I'm going to assume and believe that it's nothing I've done and rollback my software version for now.

Hi all, anyone able to assist? Second time this has happened now where everything works, is connected, my headphones play the mute button and I can scroll the volume. But there's literally no sound coming from anything to my headphones. Have updated GG, have disconnected everything and reconnected, it's all going through the headset in relevant channels.

Running into an issue that happened randomly last night. My nova 7 wireless is unable to connect to the wireless dongle. The dongle is also not lit up anymore. Haven’t had an issue in the year I owned and this one is deeming the headphones unuseable. Should I revert back to older software for the gg app?

The gg app doesn’t even recognize the dongle or headphones if they’re plugged in. It’s strange.
I worry the dongle was auto updated while the headphones weren’t.

Regardless I’d like to figure out what to do as you can not order dongles anymore.

for 2 days ive experienced problem with my arctis 9. In GG engine it showing me that i need to reconnect my headset but the problem is it doesnt work. I've looked at reddit and steelseries forums for solution and i didn't find anything that could help me. I've already tried hard resetting and everything else and it doesn't work. Is someone had similar problem and found sollution to this?

hey so my arctis 7's hardware dial DOES move the mixer slider on the steelseries program, HOWEVER it DOESNT change any audio levels that actually play.

for example: I have a youtube video playing, it plays in GAME, I want to mute it so i mute GAME with my headsets dial, I see it do so in the program, but the video and any other GAME audio is still the same volume as before..

This is happening with CHAT audio as well, I'm not getting them mixxed up.

Does anyone know a fix?

This won't help you, but search up chatmix in the discord and you'll see that this issue is incredibly prevalent right now.
Update pushed three days ago to resolve this didn't seem to work.
Having the issue myself, going to rollback software version later today.

You can either do the same or stick with it until they fix it.

I just bought nova 7 gen 2 about a month ago, in the first week everything was safe but in the 3rd week the Bluetooth was not detected on any device but the indicator light was on even though I didn't change any settings whether I got defective items.

I've updated the software and reset it but nothing happened.

Update on this before I've been able to rollback it's gotten even worse, I've now lost sound on both my gaming channel and chat channel, moving things into my media channel brings it back.
What in the unholy is going on.

Hi all! Hoping someone can help: took my PC apart a couple of days ago to give it a good internal cleaning. After putting everything back together, my Arctis 7x shows up in Device Manager as "Headphones (Xbox Controller)" -- I've triple-checked the dongle is in USB mode and not XBOX mode. Also tried re-pairing the headset with the dongle, putting the dongle in different USB ports, uninstalling in Device Manager and rebooting, etc. but nothing seems to help.

I can still see the Arctis 7x in the Engine tab in GG (listed as not connected), but I can't figure out how to get my PC to correctly recognize the headset again. Any help is greatly appreciated.
