Hi everyone,

I have SteelSeries GG installed because I want to use its AI-powered microphone noise suppressor feature from the Sonar tool. However, I don't want to use anything else from Sonar, just that specific microphone noise suppression.

The problem is that every time I start my PC, SteelSeries GG automatically changes my default playback audio device, and I absolutely do not want it to do that. I want it to consistently keep the device I manually select as my default.

Is anyone else experiencing the same issue, and if so, do you have a solution?

there's no way around it, Sonar can't be used piecemeal for just the mic features. You can post in #1070392859125104660 as a suggestion to change it so it can be used this way.

nevermind im to lazy for that too. But anyway you have to Uninstall steelseries GG and get older version (I used the latest 2024 version). Then u need to unplug the wireless transmitter and Hold the little button while insering it again. Now in Steelseries GG it should say "update failed" or something. U follow the instructions and then the sound will work again

I have a brand new Arctis Nova Pro Wireless. Is there anything special I need to do besides installing GG, plugging the usb cable in between my machine and the base station and turning the headset on to make it work properly? It just flat out refuses to do both mic and sound at the same time.

you don't even need GG in this case, all you should need to do is just connect the base station to the PC and then turn the headset on. if it's not playing both at the same time, verify you're connected to the base station (there should be a headset icon with a battery level in the top left of the screen) and maybe try a different USB port.

Also, after trying a different port, the mic worked for a little while. I could try out the mic part of sonar. It was recorded and properly replayed. I then figured, ok, I guess it's finally working, went over to discord, joined a voice channel and it stopped accepting voice input completely, both in discord. Now, even when I go back to GG's mic tab it no longer gets any input when i click record and speak or tap the mic

I fully quit GG, go to the mic tab again, can record again, it works again.

fast forward several arduous hours of debugging - It was something with my windows user profile; everything worked with a different windows user. Given this is only a gaming machine with no data and I wanted to use my account with the MS account associated, I saw a full reset of this machine as the simplest (though not quickest) way out. So, I guess I'll be downloading a lot of Steam games now, but it is "resolved". I don't know what, but discord+steelseries+new hardware = weirdness. (for context, I worked with a SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless for 5 years before without issue)

full reset, spare nothing (because the "keep my files" option would've also kept any settings third party apps write), fully scorched earth. Now I have a clean windows and working Steelseries equipment. <sigh>
I hope nobody else has to pull the nuclear option :/

this might be fallback acting up? try turning fallback off (or if it's off, try turning it on). fallback will change the output in sonar if a device is unavailable, but if you have no other device to fallback to, or if the order of fallback is wrong, it might not have anything to go to.

Hey guys i have a Nova 7 Wireless, that connects right, but the mic stopped working, how? why? i don't know, the problem is that it works to echo my voice and the noise around me, but my pc nor my phone is being able to detect audio (no matter where, dicord, games or even phone calls) i tried resetting to factory setting through removing the cuchon and pressing the reset button, and even uninstalling my drivers and installing them again, i also tried uninstalling GG steelseries and installing it back, still nothing.
on the dongle, i held it for sometime, and it started blinking fast so i held the power button and it connected, still nothing. Same thing for bluetooth. pls help 😢

ok, but the problem is still weird, I just turned on the computer, the volume of the microphone is fine and now about 2 or 3 minutes later it has gone down on its own and speaking from 10 15 cm, almost no volume bar on the sonar.

I think I have a fix for the arctis 5 no sound bug. Reinstall steelseries GG and from then on make sure your controller is unplugged on start up, for some reason since I unplugged my PS4 controller I’ve not had the isssue. Might be worth a try if you’re still having the issue.

I was trying to assign a macro for my Aerox 5 mouse in the SteelSeries GG software for a game. While creating the macro, I set a 5 ms delay between the jump key and the V key. I also set the release time of the V key to 7 ms and the jump key's release to 5 ms. However, during testing, the macro never hits the exact millisecond values — it's always delayed by 10 ms, 15 ms, or even 20 ms. I'm running the game at 250 FPS, but the macro only works properly at 30 FPS. How can I fix this?

I had to reinstall GG software to work again and use file explorer from git hub to remove whatever was left from the unnistall process. Works fine now

Hey! I had a question that may be a bit weird, SteelSeries GG Android Port? I have the Arena 9 Sound system for my pc setup, and with my current living situation I mainly use the speakers for my main audio source for TV, Music, and obviously gaming, however I'm not very supportive of Spotify music subscriptions and so instead rip CD's (I know a bit old in the big 25) but therefore my music isn't stored on my main pc rather my android phone and although I have obvious audio player EQ the speakers sound a bit more dull compared to when using personal profiles on Sonar.

for analog headsets like the nova 1, the headset and mic are controlled by your onboard audio devices, so you'd probably need to check with your PC manufacturer about how your PC works and if you need to update drivers

you can do it with streamer mode, just set the personal mix to your headset and the stream mix to your speakers, and make sure all the VADs are set to output to both personal/stream

or I guess in your case, personal mix is headset 1 and stream mix is headset 2

Hi team, I’m using the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7P on PlayStation 5, and I’ve noticed that the microphone sounds very dry, harsh, or noisy, especially compared to how it performs on PC with SteelSeries GG.

Even with AI Noise Cancellation or Noise Reduction enabled and properly tuned via GG, the mic quality on PS5 lacks clarity and picks up background static or "crackling" sounds.

For anyone having that static sound issue with the Arctis Nova 5, turn of spatial audio in the windows volume settings. I think it does this because the steel series software has its on spatial audio feature. The issue with these headphones is that they have way tooo many mechanics. The sonar option is aggrivating, the number of equilzers and volume limitters is INSANE AND BEYOND MISLEADING. THe sound is great yall are just doing too much

your discord is set to output directly to the headset, so it's bypassing sonar, so that's why sonar is showing an error

tbh, if you had discord setup the way you did in your screenshot, and the mic wasn't working, then that would indicate an issue with either the physical headset or the connection to windows, not sonar (since you were bypassing sonar)

my suggestion for now would be to just turn off GG/Sonar and make sure the headset works in Windows. Sonar isn't required for the headset to function and should work just fine without it active.

Once you know it's working fine in Windows, then you can turn on Sonar and double check all the settings/outputs in Sonar are looking good

My Arctis Nova Pro is refusing to re-pair with my dock. When I swapped batteries it refused to connect and now it's refusing to re-pair. Had the same issue yesterday which was resolved by re-installing Steelseries GG but now that isn't working either

Any ideas or should I just try and get a refund, cause this is ridiculous

You've probably enabled Prism and need to do lighting settings through that (or disable Prism's control over the device)

No reason to be so angry @real nymph - you most likely have a faulty unit. You can ask the store for a replacement or do RMA through support. Or refund, that's up to you. Do what's best for you :)

Well it just re-paired, but I had the low battery in. And when I took it out it's refusing to connect again

I think its a setting thats link all audio sources together, but i have no idea. My old headset did not do this, can someone help?

I've been using my headset for a while now. A couple months, actually. I don't understand why it just stopped working. There's no damage, it worked literal days ago, and now its just. dead. I just did a full reset aka uninstall everything, replug it in, and still no luck.

You can change it on the receiver itself. Hold down the big knob until the menu appears, scroll to system settings and click on the knob, then display and screen saver. Here you can change how long it takes before it happens and wether it should dim or turn off the display

Microphone Settings in SteelSeries Sonar Not Reflected in Discord or Other Apps

Hello,

I’ve encountered an issue with SteelSeries Sonar and would like your help or insight.

When I configure my microphone settings within SteelSeries Sonar, my voice sounds great – clear and exactly how I want it. However, these settings don't seem to carry over to other applications like Discord or other communication tools. No matter what I try, my voice in those apps doesn't sound like it does inside Sonar.

I’ve tried every method I could think of – changing input devices, tweaking settings in both Sonar and Discord, reinstalling drivers, etc. But nothing has worked. It seems like Sonar’s processing only applies within the software itself and doesn’t route the processed mic audio to other apps.

Is there something I’m missing? Or is there a way to make the processed microphone audio from Sonar the one that is sent to other applications?

I’d appreciate any help or guidance.

I have been using my arctic pro headset for 2 years now, and for the most part never had any issues I wasn't able to fix.

I'm now using it on my laptop instead of my PC and on windows 11 instead of 10, and now I have run into the issue where my apps automatically get put back into the ''apps to be routed' menu as soon as the audio source becomes inactive. Sometimes I can move them back, but other times it won't show up there at all and I just lose access to some app's audio sources all together and am unable to get any audio. It's not an issue with auto playback device.

I am getting really annoyed with missing half of my audio now and not being able to play games with audio. I like using sonar, so I would prefer NOT to disable it, but it feels like I have no other choice but to disable it. Why is there no option to lock apps to where I choose to route them, or to disable auto re-routing all together? This seems like a major issue that shouldn't be this hard to work around.

audio routing is usually handled by windows, not sonar, so maybe something on the windows level is messing up? maybe try routing in windows' volume mixer and see if things still change back there?

I tested switching where it's routed in the windows volume mixer, forced everything to my sonar gaming output. Even while it's forced to go to the sonar gaming output it auto gets put back in the 'apps to be routed' section within sonar. So it's 100% a sonar issue and not a windows issue.
