This is sooooo annoying.
The microphone on this headset is just dying, randomly cuts out and sounds robotic, cutting in and out so no-one can hear me.
Was suggested to reinstall the app and engine, worked for a couple of days.
The headset has been very well looked after, its fully charged and still is tempermental and cuts out randomly and then comes back with no rhyme or reason, is this a known issue? How do I fix?

hey guys i just got a brand new pair of arctis nova 1 headphones that uses 3.5mm, I plugged it into my pc's headphone jack but no sound output, I tried using a proper splitter and used a usb splitter, they both finally had sound but it was muddy and had tons of echo, i don't think that's how it's intended to be. do i have to change anything in sonar or anything to change this?

By any chance you pluged the 3.5mm backwards? One end should have 5 splits that goes into the headset and the other end has 4 splits that goes to the pc

If you have a “Playstation” version of a headset (such as the Arctis Nova 7P) then your headset may have a physical wheel on the headset for turning the sidetone down.

Hey folks, I just got a new Win11 PC yesterday and my Wireless Arctis 9's chatmix dial doesn't seem to differentiate between game and chat anymore -- it simply raises or lowers both sounds. I've had this headset for years and works perfectly on my old PC and my laptop. I never had to use Sonar. All devices are using fully updated drivers and GG's on v85. I have also uninstalled the GG software and Arctis 9 drivers several times.

• I have the Windows sound set to Arctis Game, with Default Communications Device set to Chat.
• Discord's settings are set to Input (Microphone Arctis Chat) and Output (Arctis Chat).

Other issues:
Without Sonar installed, PC will mute ALL audio (people in Discord and all system sounds/youtube/game) until those sounds are stopped, and SOMETIMES I can hear people again. Sometimes it just kills all audio until dongle is unplugged and plugged back in.

With Sonar (something I never had to use), the above issue does not happen when discord and system audio is set to its Sonar counterparts, but the chatmix wheel will not know the difference between the two sounds. It will either raise together or decrease together.
All audio in Sonar is set to Game except Mic, which uses chat. Discord is still using Sonar Chat. Changing these settings results in no sound.
The Sonar Chatmix slider works exactly how the dial on my headset used to work, but it does not move with the movement of the dial. This makes mid-game audio focus-switching very difficult in live matches.

**Not sure if it matters, but this PC motherboard does not have a built in sound card. Unsure if that will affect this issue.

Hello, I won Steelseries Arctis Nova 5X headphones in a contest. I have a problem with them, namely - they don't work with my cable and dongle. Hey having an issue where clips that have had sound in the past previously, seemingly out of the blue just flat out dissapeared audio shows up, practically everything except the actual sound, Other media like Youtube and Steam games work fine with audio but like I said previously in the clips and only in the clips no sound

Hi I bought a SteelSeries Arctis 5 (2019 edition) about 4 years ago and its still working perfectly however in the past few months I have been having an issue where when im talking on Discord and watching a YouTube video at the same time the youtube video sound goes through into my mic even though noise reduction is enabled and i have tried everything
What worked was lowering the headphone volume to 2 in windows and maxing out the headphone volume irl but this way the volume isnt loud enough
and if I turn the volume in Windows above 2 the problem comes back
Does anyone have any simple fix to solve this type of problem???

So this place is actually active, Thats good, looking for some support. Recently steelseries GG moments has been horrible.
Moments uses up 90%+ of my GPU, when gaming.
I tab out, everything lags. firefox, youtube, All of it lags like its moving at 10 FPS or lower.
I exited the program fully, (stopped process from task manager) and everything runs normal, no lag.

I'm running a RTX 4060 Ti.
Also lagged in game making recording lag, not a good thing when you're making game vids..
It's specifically "SteelSeries Moments Service." it was using 45% gpu. when i retested.

There any fixes for this?

I have a wireless issue with the same headset. If I plug it into power it begins to crackle and make static noise, and if I power it on it’s the same. But if I plug in the 3.5mm cable to 3 pole cable it came with it works fine. Just sucks that I can’t use the wireless connection anymore. It worked fine before my holiday trip for 2 weeks. I only used it wired on my plane in flight entertainment system. Wireless should still work but it doesn’t.

I don't know if anyone could help me with this but my Arctis nova 7 headset has very low microphone volume on pc. I tested on my phone and there, the volume of my microphone was very good according to my friends. I've checked volume mixer, sonar mixer, engine tab and discord settings. Analog audio devices are headsets/speakers that use the 3.5mm headphone jack as the primary way to connect to the PC or console.

Please note that analog headsets use your on-board audio drivers to run the headset. Due to this, analog headsets are not compatible with SteelSeries Engine and will not show up on the device list in Engine.

If you are having audio issues, here's a few steps to try:

• Reseat all cable connections to verify they are fully plugged in. The 3.5mm connection will require that the cable be plugged in fully for correct audio. Make sure all connections are clean and free of dirt. Additionally, please check that you have the correct end of the cable plugged into your PC, as some SteelSeries Nova headsets have unique cables that must have the correct end plugged into the headset.

• Verify that you are plugging the headset into the correct port. Some PCs may have split headphone and microphone audio jacks, so using a splitter for these devices is required to make the mic work. Additionally, if you are on a desktop PC, it's recommended to use the rear audio ports on your motherboard for audio, rather than the ports on your PC case.

• Check for audio driver updates from your PC manufacturer. As analog headsets use your on-board audio drivers to run the headset, it's recommended to check for any driver updates or additional audio software that's provided by your manufacturer. These drivers or management programs may be required for your device to be detected by Windows.

Sonar can also be used with analog headsets. Please make sure your Sonar outputs are set to the on-board audio device that is driving the headset. These are usually named "Realtek" or "Intel" depending on your PC.

Hi, in the Sonar software, when setting up audio spatialization, I can clearly distinguish each speaker: rear right, right, rear left, and left.
However, the front right and front left speakers sound messy and diffuse — they don’t seem to come from any clear direction.

I tried enabling Windows Sonic, but it didn’t help, and adjusting the performance and distance settings didn’t fix it either.

Hi, I'm having an issue when using Discord together with the SteelSeries GG app. When I try to stream in Discord, there's no sound at all. But as soon as I completely close the SteelSeries app, everything works fine again.

bit of a long one, not sure if you want to, but it's safe if done right, a hard reset of the headset itself. You have to stick a pin under the right cup, which presses down on a button, resetting it back to factory. Hold the switch down until the green light is flashing until it stops....

Simply pressing the icons, turning down the faders, or toggling the headphone/stream icons don't do the trick.
When I turn off streamer mode the mute functions seem to mute the mic input just fine. (in discord)

my main issue is that from time to time I record my gameplay with the shadow play of Nvidia and with my friends on discord so the thing is that I record my mic and discord doesn't get record at all...

I guess is mainly because I use gaming and main, chat and mic channel (and some times Media)... I figure that switching to streaming mode would merge my sound into the streaming mic but even with that config it doesn't capture the sound of discord or media channels what I must do to make it work properly :/

What do I need to do, to get SS GG to STOP changing my default/selected device after a reboot? I have intentionally and manually selected the device I want. It should never be making automatic changes. I do not want it to do that.

SteelSeries Sonar has “Device Fallback” that will automatically switch the outputs on Sonar.

Fallback can be triggered when a device is unavailable (such as when booting your PC or unplugging a device), or it can switch outputs if it detects if a Nova headset is turned off, and automatically switch to speakers.

This fallback functionality can be adjusted or turned off by going into the settings in Sonar. Simply click on your devices in the Mixer and open the Device Manager in Sonar.

You can also adjust the order in which devices fall back to. This can be adjusted in the same Device Manager menu. Simply drag and drop to set the order of devices.

Windowss and it's device drivers should all be loading before GG even starts. The speakers are connected and present.

I do not see anything in either the settings > sonar, nor under the sonar tab itself about "fallback devices". I see several virtual devices Sonar/GG creates. I know that I can order devices in their by preference.

I do not want my default audio device in windows to be changed to one of Sonar's virtual devices/channels.
Every virtual device should be using the headset, because
0-Logitech is what I select when I am not using the headset. It is what I want as my default audio device 90% of the time.
Game and Chat are what I use when, and only when, I want two audio sources to play in the headset, so that I can balance the audio between them. No other channels lets me do that, so I have to use Game. I do not want to open GG/Sonar in order to manually change Game between my actual speakers and the headset.

I simply want SSGG/Sonar to stop making automatic changes to the selected default device in windows.

Maybe it's this, hidden ridiculously. You have to click on a channel's device/output, then select Device Manager?
That seems to let me disable Backup Device Switch...
Hopefully that solves it.

I am seriously starting to regret buying the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless. I had an Arctis 7, which I loved. It was very simple to use. It showed up as 2 audio devices. I could assign voice to the secondary/chat, and anything/everything else to the primary. I could use VLC or EarTrumpet to send specific applications to headset, and still use my speakers as my primary audio output.

The Nova is infuriating.
First, it creates a bunch of virtual devices. And you have to use GG to mange them. And it keeps changing things without my wishes.

I just want it to leave things the way I put them. I don't understand why this is so difficult/obtuse to accomplish.

Before anyone suggests that I change the device assigned to the Game channel to my speakers, I do not believe that to be a viable/acceptable solution, because it doesn't solve my problem.

I want to use my speakers for 90% of my audio. The only time I use the Game channel is when I'm trying to watch something with a friend. I 1) do not want to have a movie/show coming out of my speakers for them to hear through my mic, and 2) I need to be able to balance the audio of what we're watching against their voice.

So, if my headset is on, it's because I'm using the Chat device/channel for voice, and if I'm using any other channel, it's the Game channel. And I MANUALLY assign what application I want going through there. VLC, for example, I will simply select the audio device it outputs to.

The Game channel is the only one that seems to let me adjust the balance with the Chat channel. If I'm using chat, and any other device/channel, it will not let me balance audio.

I do not want to have to open GG to change what hardware it is outputting to every time I want to use the Game device/channel to watch something.
I set my default device via windows. I reboot. The default device has once again been changed to Game. Every time.

tl;dr: What do I need to do to get GG/Sonar to STOP CHANGING THINGS AUTOMATICALLY?

Hi guys, so I just got the Nova Pro Wireless and am having trouble with the DAC not sleeping/turning off when my PC is off/power saving mode. Again, the Arctis 7 was great. Plug in the dongle, get two devices in windows playback devices (Normal/Chat), for me to use when/how I liked. Two wheels on the headset to adjust volume and balance. No issues. Loved it.
I just want the same ease-of-use for what's supposed to be the newer/better hardware.
I just want 2 devices/channels for the headset, and I do not want any automatic swapping/changing of things to happen.
But if I don't use Sonar, I can't get the devices to exist, and I can't use the audio balance.

Again, it's one thing for Sonar to automatically change it's own crap within it's own program. It's another unacceptable thing for it to decide to override changes I've made outside of Sonar.

And hell, this could probably be fine and worked around if I could select which two devices/channels the chat-mix could apply to. If I could have the Media channel and the Chat channels be the two I could balance between, I could sit Game to my speakers, and that would be fine. But I can't do that, and I can't get the software to stop changing things in windows.
So, my options are to deal with this every boot, or don't start GG/Sonar at boot, and devices/channels missing... I just... whatever.

Again, it's badly designed in my opinion. I'm tired of fighting with it. I think I'm going to go back to my Arctis 7 until they're full-dead, and I won't be buying more SteelSeries products.😔

That's cool, and totally valid.
However:

1. If the devices/channels are all virtual, I should be able to pick any two channels to mix between. I can't. The inability to do so is arbitrary.
2. Sonar managing it's own stuff is fine. It automatically overriding things I have changed outside of Sonar is not fine. Not giving me any way to stop it is not fine.

Again, another solution would be for me to be able to choose which of Sonar's virtual devices it selected at boot. I could then pick the Media channel, assign it to my speakers, and have Sonar select the Media channel at boot. But I can't.
I have to fight this software every day to sometimes get the same functionality that an older headset had built in.

I just got my Aerox 5 Wireless, installed the drivers, etc. As soon as the mouse connects to my PC, I have no sound on my A50X (doesn't matter if it's wireless or wired). I checked my devices—Sonar was not the default; my A50X was. As soon as I disconnect the mouse, Windows stays on the A50X as the default device, but suddenly I have sound again. If I try to reconnect the mouse while sound is playing, the mouse will not connect. I have no clue what else to do. Has anyone had a similar problem?

I've had sonar up for about a week to organize audio sources into their respective categories when suddenly my headset beeps several times in a row (similar to when I dial my headset volume to max but continue to dial),

Currently, i have all the modules (sonar, etc) disabled, but launching the software and a game makes the audio go tinny. It doesn't alter the audio until I launch a game, but once it alters the audio, ANY audio sounds to high pitched. Any clues what is happening?

Ok, it's a dumb bluetooth thing. Some bluetooth headsets sense their mic go active, if they have multichannel audio, they send a mute command to the music and change their EQ to voice clarity, because they assume you jumped on a call. steelseries is accessing the mic (also, the windows sound settings is accessing the mic to give the audio meters on the right side.)

so, for the moment, i disabled the mic of the bluetooth headset, and everything works as i think it should.

SOLVED - For ANYONE having chatmix problems, going back to steelseries gg v 84 solved my problem

until a tweak and update are rolled out for this issue, roll back your app version and it should go back to working perfectly fine

I run a triple monitor setup (mostly for warthunder) and any time i want to clip something in Moments, it has recorded all three screens but the resolution it supports turns it into a grainy mess. If I run the game in 1920x1080p (as opposed to my normal 5760x1080) it does it fine, but i have to go back through the native replay. etc, pain in the butt. my arctis nova pro wireless headset has some weird behavior when i use it with bluetooth. It has a constant background static noise that's not there when i plug it in the my pc directly with the wire, and second, when my game is running and the audio is working fine and then i tab out to play let's say a youtube video, the game audio only plays when the youtube video is unpaused, when i pause the youtube video the game audio stops. Out of nothing it wont connect to the transmitter anymore. The light on the transmitter is blinking. Tried all the steps of reconnecting including resetting the headset. Connecting directly to the pc bluetooth does work.
If i try to turn the headset on,it's showing a red light, and you can hear a channel or something opening.
If i try to pair via the software it shows the transmitter and headset connected. After a couple of seconds it shows Pairing Failed.

bluetooth might be the issue. the headset usually switches to a mono audio stream on bluetooth to support the mic. i'd always recommend the dongle.

I wanted to ask if the front speakers of the Arena 9 5.1 sound system can also be removed from the stand?
Second question: I would like to mount the 5 speakers on my Simrig but only the rear 2 have threads for screwing on.
Why didn't they thread the front ones, I don't understand this design decision.
I bought a bracket from Trak Racer to screw on the speakers but with your system it only works for the rear 2.
My first question would be more important, so I could just tape the two front ones on but the stand has to be removed.

I don't know but I would imagine it would be a challenge to remove the stand of the front speakers as they have RGB lighting in the stand itself.

Would imagine they don't have threads as they are intended for PC gaming and thus be standing on a desk

You might have better luck with modifying them to have a screw insert on the back of the speaker like the back speakers have but I can't know for sure obviously

I'm running Steel Series GG version 86 on Windows 11. I used the software for months just fine and set things up successfully. Suddenly, an evening ago or so, I went to change the volume of one of the levels in streamer mode and it didn't do anything. In regular I can adjust the volumes fine, but not in streamer mode. When I switch between them the volumes are set to what they used to be, but I can't change them. I un-installed and re-installed the software and nothing changed.

I recently rebuilt my computer but using the same SSD...switched from an MSI motherboard to an ASUS and switched from an AMD GPU to a Nvidia...idk if this will matter but i put it anyway...I can no longer switch between game or chat mixers...when using the sonar application in the GG software, chat needs to be in the "game" output and the same needs to be with the "game". It is the same visa versa...if i have the output on my computer set to steelseries sonar - chat everything needs to be in chat in order for me to hear any audio. This is troublesome because I would like to use the desktop box that came with my headset to manually adjust the mixer from being chat heavy or game heavy on the audio output...having both discord and my game under the same channel and not being able to adjust it on the fly is a real pain. as seen in the last screenshot when it comes to game and chat, the mixer below is greyed out and whatever application that would come through chat would not have audio. I may have stated before but when changing my computer's output device, it will only apply to whatever steelseries sonar device is selected, IE if i have game selected, I will only have audio if both chat and game have their output as the respective computer output device. This will happen with both the steelseries output devices and headset output devices I cannot have it where both would be in use

Problem with Sonar and Discord.

It's been a year since I got the artic nova pro wirless and once configured I didn't touch anything for months.

For a couple of weeks now, however, I have the following problem:

When I start Discord it does not detect the microphone of the sonar profile, or rather it detects it, it is selected but does not go (from sonar it detects the voice and Discord is associated).

From the Discord settings if I change the input microphone and select another one and then put the sonar artic nova pro back one, it starts working again. But every time I open Discord I have to do this double exchange.

Until a couple of weeks ago everything was fine.

when you bought a new dongle, are you 100% sure you got the correct dongle? for example the dongle for the arctis 7+ won't work if you have a nova headset or an arctis 7P or arctis 7X

ffs i have tried so much troubleshooting, reinstalling, updating drivers EVERYTHING, my discord and windows both are set on sonar but in the sonar GG app it does not let me choose my steel series headset/mic under devices. i can hear everything fine but nothing detects my mic can anybody help me please?

Is there a place we can go to request the "low battery alert beep" be a setting? I have the Arctis 7s and they beep every 5 minutes once they get to 25% battery, but I've still got 6-8 hours left of battery!

yo i just got on pc like 4 days ago and was looking for an app to clip rainbow on so i seen steelseries. before downloading the app on my pc i could hear in game mice while in discord but ever since downloading the app i can push to talk but i cant hear in game mics anymore while in discord, what happened

@vital hornet 1. search bar in windows or when you press windows key, type in Game mode settings.

select >Graphics> turn off Auto HDR, scroll down and in the App Section, turn off Auto HDR in all the games

if you have Nvidia, right click desktop, open NVidia control center. change resolution> Use Nvidia color settings to 8bpc. Anything above that for some reason makes it really dark. Also, not sure if "use default color settings" will do anything but i'd try deftault settings and record something and see if it changes anything, if not then try the above. GL
